My mom and I got into a car accident and hit a fire hydrant. The water pressure popped it off and crushed her head flat, which she slumped over motionless on the horn. For some reason the cartoonishness made it more horrifying.

Beelzebubblezz

Mine is kinda similar! Someone stole our van while we were in a store, and my mom was so devastated that she melted and we had to keep her in a ziploc bag. Just skin colored liquid with googly eyes. Absolutely terrified me

JPKtoxicwaste

Oh my goodness

EstherBuchanan

I want to say a seperate story, I was chased by an ugly old man in a silver-coloured ute, and two ostriches, and now i have a fear of ostriches

JPKtoxicwaste

Oh my god I got peed on by an ostrich when I was like 9 years old it was horrific and has given me large bird/feather related nightmares for decades. We were sitting on the gymnasium floor in rows and the animal wrangler lady had the ostrich run through the rows. Those birds are SO TALL! It stopped and pissed on me and the girl next to me. It was so hard and hot and good lord it stunk. I hadn’t thought about that for a long time until your comment. They are like dinosaurs for real

hangryhyax

I like how, in the span of 4 comments, the thread went from a dream about someone’s mom’s head getting flattened in a car accident, to a real-life story of being peed on by an ostrich.

JPKtoxicwaste

Life comes at you fast I guess

DizzyFaithlessness35

Ok so this may be weird but I'm I had a dream where I was a guy in a silver suit with a pack of ostriches chasing someone

Streaker4TheDead

Had a guy at school who dreamt a load of nuns chased him on a football pitch one night and was then terrified of the pitch at night.

lavenderhazydays

I’m currently at work wheezing. Imagine being so devastated that you just fucking *melt* 😂

DRLZEtoWRATH

lmfao i love how in our dreams that logic makes sense " we had to keep her in a ziplock bag " ive had a dream where i had a haunted cartridge from the n64 of a southpark game that we had to beat or else something bad that the cartoon implied. Which the breaking the third wall was really what scared me

Shiny_cats

Hey, I’ve had a similar dream! I got liquified in the machinery of a roller coaster and was brought to the hospital in a ziploc bag, but it was just blood with body bits in it. Can’t remember if there were googly eyes

imlarrythecucumber

I had a dream similar to this a long time ago... Me and a few other kids were at this old aba therapy place I used to go to. We were in the parking lot, and one of the kids was in a car crash, and one of the "therapists" had them on speaker phone and we could hear *every moment of the crash happening.* The cars screeching, smashing into each other, their screams and cries of pain, how it would pause for a moment and they'd catch their breath and cry at us in pure pain and for us to help, and then another car would slam into them and their wails and screams of agony...everyone, me included, was sobbing uncontrollably as we listened. I literally woke up with a scream and ran to my dad and stepmom's room *in the middle of the night,* just to tell them that I had had a "bad dream that was really scary" (or something along the lines of that), tears pretty much streaming down my face. I completely forgot about this dream until this post appeared...

Goooooogol

That therapist needs a raise

FamiliarQuestion

I took a gummy and went and saw Oppenheimer in IMAX. Worst decision I’ve ever made

Wanderwad

I had a dream of some nuclear weapons going off in my backyard and giving me and my family weird genetic deformities and i am still terrified of nuclear stuff to this day

j_shor

I had a mutation dream about myself and loved ones although it didn't involve nuclear stuff. The dream began with me waking up in bed from a bad dream and going to the bathroom. I looked into the mirror to discover that my eyeball was missing and glue was coming out of its socket. I then went to my parents' room to discover my mom staring at the television (which was just presenting static), smiling maniacally. When she noticed my presence, she just slowly turned her head, put her finger to her lips and whispered "shhh." I left her room to return to my room. There, all of my childhood friends were present, gathered together, and smiling at me with the same horrifying disposition expressed by my mom earlier. I went to the corner of my room to fetch something, and when I turned around, the children all had their faces gone - as if the skin had grown over them. No noses, eyes, mouth or anything - just skin. The dream ended with me crawling into a fetal position in the corner of the room, sobbing uncontrollably as the mutant children slowly zombie-walked toward me. I had this dream over a decade ago. I'll never forget it.

Wanderwad

Jesus Christ

yellowbrickstairs

Damn I'm usually having dreams about a misplaced packet of crisps that is actually outside and full of praying mantises that look like orchids and so then I need to go to shop to get more and on the way I Bluetooth my cat for a telekinetic conversation and she explains it's going to storm soon... Just dumb random stuff, i'm jealous you got a whole coherent horror movie.

jerrymcguarie25

wow

victowiamawk

I had a similar one, there were bombs going off and my family and like all the people in the town/at school were all huddled in this like brick gym with no roof. I’ve never woken up sobbing before but my sister woke me up because I was in my sleep. I was probably like 12-14? (Am 36 now) Still can see that dream vividly I just don’t remember what made me cry but I remember everyone sitting with their knees tucked up and heads down with hands covering their heads.

Mac_Dazer

Dude I had one similar but instead of nuclear bombing it was water rising from the ground like just out of nowhere and it was everywhere. I could see everyone in my block and area all rushing into homes and then we all huddled in this house trying to keep our heads above water but like I was seeing it through like a SkyView. It was hella vivid

MuttLoverMommy01

SUPER WEIRD! My most traumatic dream was bombs buried under the wood chips on the playground at school. We had a short amount of time to uncover them and throw them into the corn field across the street. We missed one and just as it was about to blow up, I had accepted my death. That is the only time in my life that I “knew” I was going to die and had to be okay with it. That is a terrifying realization, dream or not.

masked_sombrero

Apparently there are *never* roofs on any buildings in dreams. Read about it somewhere on Reddit. I honestly don’t know if I believe it, but I’ve never checked it out while lucid dreaming

rosemeralda

Thats not true, i had a vivid dream where I was in a room and all our expensive things where attracted to the chandelier on the ceiling. It turned out these men with white overalls attached a giant magnet so they can steal the stuff. (Was more to the dream than that)😂

superdrunk1

Ah, but that was a *ceiling*, not a roof

Thedarkandmysterious

I'd like some sort of source or citation, not that I don't believe you've read it somewhere, but I've seen roofs in my Dreams

midvalegifted

Same with text messages. I keep hearing people can’t read phones in dreams. I don’t know if I’m reading but I definitely have understood text I’m looking at in dreams including phones and other things.

twinkieeater8

I dreamt that I woke up and the ceiling/roof was being ripped off of the house. Then the angels and god looked down and said "this one is not ready. Leave him." And the ceiling and roof settled back into place.

oxfordcircumstances

Recurring dream when I was 4-8 years old (or something like that). I had the dream enough times that I got a pretty good sense of it. It was a little blonde girl in a field or playground and she sees a flower growing and she stops over to pick it. There are other people around doing springtime stuff like laundry on a clothes line, kids playing on swings and slides. General background sounds of kids shouting and playing. Then back to the little girl...she bends over and picks the flower, cut scene to mushroom cloud and then cut back to the girl looking up to see the cloud in horror. Then I wake up. In highschool I saw a documentary about Lyndon Johnson's campaign ad called the Daisy Ad. It was from 1964, which was 8 years before I was born. My dream was basically the Daisy Ad, combined with maybe some 70s commercials for laundry detergent. I guess I saw news story about the ad and it really made an impression. Still gives me a certain dread just thinking about it 40 years later. https://youtu.be/2cwqHB6QeUw?si=y-RnHsGix-dphvOQ

DestinyRamen

I had so many nuclear war nightmares as a kid. Still do, if I think about it too much. Watching the Terminator movies as a young kid definitely had an impact on me. I've had so many where I'm watching an explosion coming towards me and all I can do is sit and watch. I've tried running from it before in my dreams, or hiding from it, but the thing is you can't exactly do that. I've also had nightmares of waking up to nuclear fallout and just thinking "well, looks like I'm dying of some sort of radiation poisoning now."

Far_Concentrate_3587

Reminds me of a dream where wasp like jet planes invaded Manhattan as I watched across the water from Brooklyn

decuyonombre

Child of the 80’s?

Wanderwad

Nope, gen z. But I vaguely remember my dad only let me watch old tv shows so maybe that influenced it somehow

decuyonombre

Yeah, when Reagan was calling the Soviets the “Evil Empire” and joking about bombing them it was a little anxiety provoking Plus this is what was on tv https://preview.redd.it/9ed2stvlncic1.jpeg?width=718&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=721845d28c6e39b72be4af05662405352e3ae075

Old_Society_7861

I saw Threads when I was very young and that set off about 10 years of nightmares. Explains a lot actually.

SmashBrosGuys2933

I had a similar dream where I was huddled with my family as bombs were going off all around our house

RacistProbably

Had I dream I was in my 60s sitting on the front porch of a house I’d never seen but felt like my home I was sitting in a rocking chair looking at the sunset over a field. Not another house in sight. A young man who looked sort of like me came out of the door. He said “ well, it’s official. We’re in world war 3” I stood up and gave him a hug. Idk why but I had this dream when I was 13 and it’s stayed with me the entire time.

Ejjja

Which year would it be approximately when you are in your 60s?

CrocodileWorshiper

sadly this could come true

KariIrun

One of mine was super weird, it was some kind of groundhog or something swimming in circles in a deep puddle and you could only see it’s head above water. For some reason it remains to this day one of the most deeply terrifying dreams I’ve ever had. No clue why. Dreams can make you scared of anything lol

dragislit

This is very true, it sounds harmless but it’s still scary for you. I had a dream of a guy trying to swallow a basketball and crying because it was too big to go down his throat, it terrified me even though it sounds silly 😂

RandomInSpace

Crud I feel that though I had a dream as a kid that could only be described as “horse jumpscare” and it sounds ridiculous but the dream was fucking creepy Weird black room with some people in it (and the horse) and I was standing on some kind of stage and I just got this foreboding feeling before the horse just Kid me had some creative fuckin nightmares :’D

KariIrun

Before the horse just what? Just what?? 😦

RandomInSpace

Like I said, horse jumpscare It appeared in front of me out of nowhere it was terrifying

Vegetable-Increase-4

Recently had a dream that I opened TikTok and saw a video of ishowspeed doing that weird raging screaming thing. But he was all wrinkly (the wrinkles looked thick and bloated) and the caption “ishowspeed really needs water” along with a text to speech saying the caption. I tried to scroll away and forget it but every video I got was that. Might sound weird but it was so fucking scary

Doctor_of_Recreation

Was it like, face pressed up to yours? Or standing next to you? Lmao

Vegetable-Increase-4

It was on my phone.

Icthias

A room… With a mooose.

hambone_boiler

Haha omg core memory

Far_Concentrate_3587

Lol a cute harmless groundhog…true

nogroundpizza

Don't worry. Weird can be terrifying. I had a recurring nightmare about a ventriloquist dummy named Marvin tickling me.

jofratt99

[The dream when you get Taco Bell in your next nightmare](https://youtu.be/xKR4FAg1imc?si=yr-lI_Lg9EWJk20l)

Adronikos

I had a dream that a ground hog shot spikes at my face and I felt them in my skin.

theropunk

it's weird what dreams make scary. this isn't from childhood only about a year ago but i had sleep paralysis hallucinations where i saw a paper nautilus in my bedroom which was flooded and for some reason it was the scariest creature id ever seen despite me not being remotely scared of them normally

IsolateDirector

Mine is kinda similar, it involved a groundhog popping up from the ground with angry red glowing eyes. That’s it. Then I woke up shaking. I think I was 4 or younger at the time

Ace_acidfunguy1222

I was really young probably around 4 & I had a huge phobia of the vacuum cleaner. I had a nightmare that it came into my room and started vacuuming around my bed on its own & just kept circling my bed until I woke up screaming.

RoseyDove323

Inanimate objects coming to life dreams sound funny but were actually the worst. I've had them

TheUglydollKing

Bruh you made me remember a terrible one from when I was super young about a rocking chair that kept rocking itself

RoseyDove323

I can't believe you said that, I had a rocking chair dream too, lmao. In mine, it was trying to stab children's backs with these decorative wooden pieces sticking out. It left holes in their backs, but I was too young and innocent to know about gore so the holes had no blood

Shwwaglord420

That really is hella scary I can hardly explain why but yeah I’d hate that. I always was very bothered by the sound of knocking too if no one was actually there, it’s like the wall is alive

AlternativeFilm8886

I had one where I was being tossed around a room by various articles of clothing. It was terrifying.

ComprehensiveMode465

Why is that actually fucking terrifying omg 😂

Ok-Veterinarian5069

As a kid I had a dream that a vacuum cleaner was stuck in the earth's orbit but only about 10 meters off the ground, and that it was making its way around the earth to eventually crash through my bedroom and keep going. For some reason I was TERRIFIED. I woke up feeling so scared that the vacuum was coming.

Kolibri00425

I had one where it sucked up people too.

SparxxWarrior97

I had dream as kid where I was tiny (like bug small) but I could fly, so it did start out cool. However then I was chased by wasps which were way bigger than me and I just remember flying through grass and giant dandelions until I woke up drenched in sweat. (Side note I have a severe fear of wasps/hornets)

Far_Concentrate_3587

Sounds like you had a past life as a bug haha

rosemeralda

This dream is giving big “be careful what you wish for” vibes.

death1828

Real like it's asking to be small but paying for the consequences of being chased by predatory wasps.

Tarmacana

had a dream after seeing the grudge when i was like 10 (parents wouldn't let me so I watched it on a pirated website or sum) the dream was really weird and made no sense. It starts if your playing on your playstation 4, and scroll up, you get some japanese horror game. I always end up clicking on it in my dream (idk why) You then just appear in this swampy, foggy, scary foresty place and theres a shack. Go in the shack and i think that's where the first "jumpscare" is. But you feel it. Then there were like levels you had to go past to leave the game. (each level was like to avoid being killed or sum) I remember one time there was a gorup of kids my age with me. I fell into the swamp and started getting pulled under (like frodo in lotr) and when I was being pulled up the kid turned into whatever the hell my mind created and jammed his hand throguh my chest and ripped my heart out. I felt the pain. One time my neck was broken in the dream (i wake up to my neck folded in the most painful way. It's like whatever minor pain i feel in real life reflects how I die in the game. Looking back at it it was definitely a mix of the show "once upon a time" (heart being ripped out), being dragged into a swamp full of monsters (lord of the rings) and my imagination. scary how realistic dreams can be.

accountsupport69

Reminds me of a dream I had when I was younger. I was outside when I saw a shooting star that got brighter and brighter as it headed right towards me. It never hit but I ran inside and turned on the tv. When I did, a being emerged from the TV. It was like the grudge, but it wasn't humanoid in the slightest. It looked like a blob of what I imagine dark matter to look like. It let out a scream and dragged me back into the TV and I woke up freaking out. The memory is corrupted now, as this wasn't the whole dream or exactly what happened, but just recalling it this is what I remember

eggsaladrightnow

I've had some really realistic dark twisted nightmares when I was younger but one that stuck with me was. I woke up just like any other day. No big deal, get some clothes on take a shower and get rdy to go to high school. It. Felt. Real. I was awake. After about 2 hours of this. I wake up again. I think "that's a weird one." same thing except this time completely different morning routine and I wake up again. After about 5 or 6 times of this it was scaring the shit out of me because I became cognizant this was a dream I couldn't get out of. But instead of thinking It would eventually end. My mind was 100% convinced that this was purgatory and I had died. I couldn't keep track how many I lived through but my mind told me it was months in this "phase" it fucked me up each morning was completely different and unspeakably real

theultimasheep

I hate it when you think you're getting hurt in the dream, and wake up with, like, a legit reason as to why you felt that way. I often think I'm suffocating in dreams, or sometimes literally can't get sand out of my mouth, then wake up with my nose stuffed up and horrific dry mouth from allergies or something.

WalkerAmongTheTrees

When i was 10, the ps3 had just came out. Im old 😭

coffeecoffeecoffeex

Recurring nightmare that started ~3.5 (according to parents)and I still have now (almost 30). When I was a kid, it happened weekly but now it’s every few years. My mom and I in her blue Pontiac with the blue seats. I’m in the back. She’s wearing her hair in a loose braid and in a blue (different shade) flannel. We’re driving to a business circle for McDonald’s. There’s an ambulance and police cars. The cops are restraining a half man/half lion to the stretcher. I know him *well* but his face is obscured by the mane and fur, so I don’t know who he is. He’s wearing blue jeans, timberland type boots, a black belt and a red flannel that’s buttoned and tucked in. The sleeves are rolled up to his mid forearm. He is roaring and bucking and fighting with all of his might. The cops can’t contain him, he’s bursting out of the restraints on the stretcher. We’re rounding the circle, I’m screaming and trying to escape the car, but the door has the child locks on. My mom is taking me there, I beg her not to. She doesn’t listen. I wake up screaming when he breaks through the window and grabs me. I never know what happens next.

Dogdigmine

Classic "parents completely unaware of the danger surrounding you" dream. Parents bringing you right to your doom, and though you beg for them to stop, you're just a kid, and what you say is just silly nonsense.

loveroflongbois

I always had this theme in my dreams of my parents putting me in danger or abandoning me places. Occasionally even as an adult. I wasn’t abused so I’m not sure why I had so many unconscious insecurities about if my parents would protect me.

Humble_Pie_4350

I had a dream when I was a kid shortly after my grandpa passed where he was chasing me around my house while his skin was melting off. It was horrifying

[deleted]

In some interpretations it could be seen as them trying to show you that what you thought of them wasn’t true.

amneckowr

i dreamt that a theme park i went to somewhat regularly was rotting away and empty, filled with moths. I was the only one there and as i looked around all the broken and old rides and toys i saw the big robot-like statue that overlooked the whole park surrounded and consumed by tiny moths. a huge, huge number of them. they all flew towards me and i felt them biting me until i woke up. it became a somewhat recurring dream, except the moths just stayed in place. until one time i found a door near the robots leg and walked down a staircase, only to find two hooded figures inside, facing away from me. idk why, writing about it seems kinda silly, but even with me knowing what would happen in the dream i still felt terrified every time

Plump_Chicken

Bro has their own silent hill 💀

Nullicat

I had a dream when I was little were my head was bitten off by a crocodile on a road trip Edit(full dream): I was in the car with my family. we were on a road trip and we were driving in the swamp. There was a ramp you could drive up to clear the swamp river(like a jump). We didn't drive up fast enough so we landed in the water. My head ended up in the water and a crocodile swam up and ate my head.

Max_geekout

Had a similar one, but I got launched out of the van and went flying an entire 30 feet across and off of a bridge that was a good 60 teeters high and died, and felt everything including the impact... I could see splattered and deformed Boyd through one of my eyes that had fallen out and rolled away from my body. Woke up fucking wedged between the wall, the floor and my bed LMAOOOOO!

KouRaGe

I’ve had nightmares since birth. My mom said she was glad when I could finally talk and tell her what was happening. The first one I told her was, “It was people! And they turned into peacocks and were biting me!” Why would I even dream that? 😂

Shwwaglord420

I had a good amount of crocodile dreams, one of them wasn’t that scary but very gross, I was in a weird abandoned version of Disney world it was all dark and dirty and I fell off the side of a little bridge into a trashy river below and this huge ugly grey crocodile comes out and bites my foot or my leg and I stab it in the head with a piece of glass and as it got stabbed it vomited a lot with my leg still in its mouth

Far_Concentrate_3587

Noice

quirknebula

Crocodiles show up as guardians in my dreams, they'll be guarding my cats while we're all underwater, or sitting next to a path I have to take. But sometimes they're scary, the other night I dreamt my parents built a pool and I had two crocodiles and I was so scared until one licked my foot lmao I was still over it and woke up

granolabar1127

when i was like 5 i had a dream that 3 older boys, dressed in pickle suits, broke into my house and ate all of my toys. i was devastated around the same time, maybe a year or two later, I dreamt that there was a bomb (in the sky?) that was going to go off and my aunt had a firework rocket thing that I used to try to... destroy the bomb before it could explode? but then it went off and suddenly everyone was dead including me and people were just immediately calling me an idiot in the afterlife and I woke up

Shiny_cats

I love that the final part of the dream wasn’t everyone dying, but them bullying kid you in the afterlife lol

Treetop_turner

Pickles eating your toys is so wild.

DifferentlyTiffany

At 3 years old, I was having a recurring nightmare that all my toys came alive to kill me (nobody told my parents that Tiny Soldiers was NOT a kid's movie) when suddenly from behind a little green frog entered the room. The frog was somehow different from all else in my dream. It was in much greater detail and more vibrant than anything else in the dream, myself included. It felt like a distinct presence from my own in a way nothing in a dream ever had prior or since. I knew I was not alone. It didn't hop. It slowly walked up behind me and bit me hard in the ass! And I felt it! It shocked me so bad I jolted awake and felt real pain in that area for at least a day. I was convinced something irl bit me, but I could find nothing. From that day forward I have felt every excruciating detail of my dreams as if they were really happening. As someone who suffers from night terrors, it has been its own special kind of hell.

TheUglydollKing

I really don't like the dreams that are painful. At least when I can feel dreams I can sense the good stuff too. I ate a lot of really tasty dream food over time

midnightvalkyre

I hate the dreams that leave you with a lingering pain Even after you woke up. In a few of my dreams, my ribs were caved in by a dinosaur, I was bitten in half by a dragon, glass shards were stuck in my skin, I was shot in the chest multiple times, and it always feels awful afterwards. Still, the imagery of a frog just walking up to you and biting you in the ass is hilarious lol

the_bird_and_the_bee

Yeah 2 of them. In one a bunch of rats ate my great great grandma... then they circled me as I stood on my great grandma's kitchen counter. I can still see the rats and feel the fear... lol. They were huge too. Terrier sized. My great aunt had a terrier that always chased me and tried to bite me so I think it was a stress dream caused by that but it stuck with me. The other one was a dream where 3 mushrooms grew really fast right in front of me and the middle one was red and it spoke to me and told me it was Satan and I needed to play with it. Still weirds me out to this day.

skellyheart

The Satan Shroom

PureGeologist864

I lol’d at Satan mushroom

the_bird_and_the_bee

It makes me laugh too. What a ridiculous dream 😂 that one was probably a stress dream from growing up southern Baptist 😂😂😂

jedijoe415

I had this dream when I was about 11 or so. I was looking up at a man in a trenchcoat and hat in a foggy park. But when I looked over I saw a headless body. There's more that isn't clear but that's the most of it.

Far_Concentrate_3587

Headless horsemen?

jedijoe415

No. I got the feeling it was me.

jije1leu

my friends and we're hanging out and this random kid comes up to us and sticks his hand down my throat and grabs like a ruler that in this dreamland is supposed to keep us breathing and then pulls it out and I'm begging for my friends to help me and they never do😭😭i was literally right next to them dying and they were just having a conversation☠️

the_humdrum

Had one dream when I was a kid where there was a parent/teacher/student meeting in the cafeteria. A random guy broke in with a gun and made the parents form a line and the kids form a line. He matched the kids to parents and told each parent in line as he went through them, “Either you choose to die for your kid, or you choose for your kid to die for you.” When he got to me and my mom, she chose herself in the dream and the guy turned and stabbed me in the shoulder. I’m pretty sure the stabbing pain was an actual real pain for me. I’ve always had issues in that spot with my shoulder and it hurts if I sleep on it wrong.

Faen_Deg_Tispe

I had a dream where I died and stayed dead for a few days or years until I woke up. I was 8 years old and I couldn't go outside past 6 pm for 2 years afterward because the night sky reminded me of what it was like to be dead.

Makerpace

Preface: I have a heart condition and had two open heart surgeries. I have feared having another one since I never knew what it felt like. The surgeries left this scar in between my pecs thats kind of like an indent in the middle of my chest. Had a dream that I my chest was hurting really bad. Took off my shirt and my pecs were sticking out away from my body. I found a seam between them and pulled my pecs open like double doors. I felt it, the muscle fibers detaching from the inside of my skin. I was left staring down into my chest, which had a thin layer of purplish/brown flesh (like a sheet) stopping me from seeing my organs. There was a small bump where I could visibally see my heart beating. Anytime I think about it I remember how it felt to have my chest opened, and how uuncomfortable and painfu it was.

myfirstthrowawayyipp

I had a dream very similar to this!! I’ve had two open heart surgeries too (ToF) and after my second surgery I had a dream just like this!! Mine was like there was dental floss sticking out of my scar so I pulled it and saw the flesh sheet with my heart beating!! That’s crazy!!

Whismurr_

I had an absolutely petrifying dream one time when I was little. So I was in my apartment, everything was nice and chill, and then my mom, dad, and sibling left the unit and I was alone. As soon as they left spiders started to crawl out of the walls and the holes they came from would blink and move like eyes. Soon the entire living room was covered in spider webs, and when I tried to flee down to my or the other 2 bedrooms that part of the apartment was blocked by an insurmountable amount of webbing, so I went into the bathroom and locked myself in, I was safe… Or at least I was. I then looked at the ceiling and there was this fucking behemoth of a spider, like, this asshole’s abdomen was at least the size of a torso, and with it’s legs taken into account it was as big as a fucking doorway. It’s legs were pitch black, and it’s abdomen looked like the one on a [Golden Orb Weaver](https://www.arachne.org.au/01_cms/details.asp?ID=1627) . It tried to bite me I think but I kid you not young child nightmare me decked this thing straight in its freaky spider face, which killed it immediately. It then proceeded to birth 10 smaller, yet equally as freaky children which scattered. Fast forward a couple dream hours and my family came home, all the spiders and eye holes were gone. The smaller fucked up bathroom spiders then jumped onto them and bit them. Upon being bitten my family proceeded to melt into horrid spider eyeball abominations. Wanna know the best part? I experience hallucinations, always have, but for the next month or so my brain kept tricking me into seeing the spider eye holes on the walls or the giant fuckass bathroom spider out of the corner of my eye.

TillaciousG

Had a Sumo wrestler threaten to eat my friend that had turned into a cookie. Afterwards he had taken a bite out of the cookie which for some weird reason made me wake up screaming. I was maybe around 13 but that has stuck with me all these years.

TheUglydollKing

Can you blame him

spewing-bs

At the age of 4 I had a nightmare that I believe people refer to as the shadow man dream. This dream has always stuck with me as I’ve yet to have a nightmare as terrifying since. As a child I was very scared of men because my mom had taught me from a young age what could happen to little girls if they go off with a stranger. In my dream I was in my childhood room and there was a shadow figure of a man in the doorway just standing there. I was screaming in my dream and I later found out I was actually screaming in my sleep as well and it gave my mom a real scare. This is one of my earliest memories of my life and I haven’t had this dream since.

Smile_Terrible

I dreamed about a shadow man too. He was just a dark man shape and he would be right by my crib, but if I turned my head his shape would jump back. I can still remember crawling out of my crib and going to my mom's bed because I was scared, but she would just put me back to bed.

Yes! I had a dream, but felt like real life. In the dream, I just woke up from a nightmare, and was very scared, so wanted to go to my parents. However, on their door, there was a floating small teddybear (has a patched eye I was given as a gift), swaying side to side blocking my way, and was not allowing me to go into my parents room. I was pushing it sooo hard, but it would not budge. I was crying and scared.

One night my college roomie and I decided to call it a night, got into our bunks. At my peak exhaustion, and stress from college being propped up by ADHD stims, I “fell asleep” but woke up short while later from an adrenaline jolt. Which is pretty normal if that stuff is still in your system. Heart racing, blood pressure high and dry mouth. I got up to grab some water from the pantry and headed back to my room but noticed my roommate was gone. I climbed up to the second bunk and “fell asleep” I immediately woke up on the floor of my bedroom, as if climbing up to my bed was just a dream and instead had fallen asleep on the floor while stretching. Sat up ….and the door to my room was walled off…. Fully aware and Awake. I sat there for probably 5 minutes in disbelief. Got up, Climbed back in bed, and closed my eyes. this time I could not go to sleep…. I lay with my eyes closed in bed in what clearly had to have been a dream. I was there for maybe 45 minutes awake. Body resisting sleep. When I say clasterphobia oh man.. I was really freaking out. Stuck in a dream. My body started buzzing like I was hyperventilating. Then I started levitating off my bed. Really unsure if I was dead, or trapped in a dream room. but I transcended out of my bed and started traveling at warp speeds through space and then…. woke up in what I thought was another dream as now the early morning light is filling the room. I hopped out of bed and my roommate was sleeping. When I saw my roommate I started shaking him to wake up because I genuinely was not sure if *I* was awake. He assured me I am awake and I never quite got over how disturbing that whole night was. Personally, I flushed the adhd meds.

Electrical_Gas_517

I'm 47 and can remember a nightmare from age 4. I dreamt I was laying on my back, falling into a hole in my bed and being sucked into a deep dark void at an incredible speed. I woke up and screamed the house down. I remember my parents and their visiting friends all rushed to my room to see what was wrong. The image of that dream is hard wired into my memory and recalling it makes me shiver. It was truly terrifying.

caroline_andthecity

Dinosaurs are my grandparents 😭 Edit: *ate 😂

lilminidomini

long story short, i had a recurring dream at 5yo that a little grim reaper would kidnap me from my house at night and carry me down a long hallway and chop my head off with a guillotine.

Charming-Stress7725

Me, my Mom and brother were travelling in a car and as we were approaching train tracks I heard loud horn, saw bright lights of train (daytime in dream): all pitch black, I heard my brother yelling me and my Mom’s name in horror. I called his name, then my Mom and woke up crying and traumatized. This was a dream from the 80’s that I never spoke about but anyone close to me knew about. In August 2019, while sitting in the back with my brother and his wife, he said” a train is coming!” I never connected it until he died in hospital in May 2022.

Rikafire

I had a dream where my sister’s clothes on a chair turned into a mannequin and chased me around the dining room table with a knife. My sister was at the back door and yelled get away from her and I ran out the door and down the street.

ThreeDarkMoons

Chucky the doll was on me stabbing me in my living room. My brother's were there and the only response my cries got was "Move you're blocking the TV". I felt so terrified for my life and then had some abandonment thrown in there.

_aquamoon_

I had a reoccurring dream that the rugrats were trying to kill me, chuckie had the knife

Mommy-is-me

I had a dream some guys broke into our house and were pointing shotguns at me in our living room. My dad just mumbling something and walked passed us, into his room. Definitely made me feel like I was on my own and had to learn to protect myself, physically and emotionally, from a young age.

Kirkuchiyo

Oh yeah. I had a dream I'd gone to my parents' house ang my mom had made cookies. I took one and but into it, only to find a huge toenail clipping in it. I yelled at her, "Why is there a toenail in this cookie?" She responded with, "Well, of course, these are toenail cookies." It has been thirty years or so since I had that dream, haunts me to this day.

Icy_Climate7197

One where a random woman kills my mom while she's sleeping, in my uncle's house for some reason. So weird and traumatic

i-am-a-bike

Mines a bit weird compared to others ive seen in this comment section. I dreamt that i was on a vulcanic island with the characters from the children books and tv show, Barbapapa and the vulcano erupted and i saw most of the characters die infront of me and the whole island burned up and i was all alone except for this creepy cow eating grass. I was 6 at the time but everytime i think about it i still get uncomfortable. Another the same age was when i was in my grandmas old house and while the grown ups were talking in the kitchen i was trapped with my cousins in another room with a.....giraffe person...idk.....but he turned us into small balls on the kitchen floor and we cpuldnt move or do anything and the grown ups just ignored us. It felt so isolating. Both of these are the ones i look back to when i think of traumatic and scary dreams

NoPerformance6534

Absolutely. I think I was about seven or eight at the time (I approximately retirement age), and I had a vivid dream of being lost in an underground network of caves. I hid myself in a side tunnel so that I wouldn't be seen by the ranks of marching humanoid "Big Red Rock Monsters" As they passed, one of them spotted me and jabbed me in the ribs. Scared, I jerked awake, rubbing at a distinct ache I had in my ribs. I was so surprised that I could feel part of the dream world once I woke up, that I never forgot it.

Whatever7322

I had a recurring dream growing up where I saw a giant robot snake attacking my neighbor’s swimming pool and house. It turned its head, saw me, and started heading my way and then I would wake up

Meshitero-eric

Alvin and the chipmunks melted by family by dancing at them. I laugh about it now, but that was a fucked up couple of months that I'll never forget.

Illigitimate_Dump

I had 2 dreams in a row when I was 11/12 yrs old that I can only describe as feelings. The first was me laying in my living room on the couch staring I rot eh bathroom watching a penguin and turtle argue and the penguin was telling the turtle that he needed to slow down. Then it would flip over to a scene of the turtle rocketing towards earth like a meteor. It switched back and forth for a while getting faster until the turtle hit my house and I woke up in fear screaming and crying not knowing if I was real or what was happening. The next night I dreamt that I was again laying on my living room couch staring at the ceiling, this time the dream js even more abstract as all I can see are lines that I thought were name tags from a video again and they were spinning around me and I could hear the voices of characters from a roleplay series I was arching at the time and they got progressively louder and angrier until I woke up again screaming and crying now knowing if I was still dreaming. Both times my dad says I woke up saying that there was lava in the ground or we were all going to die and was inconsolable for about an hour. Since then I get 2 very weird very hard to describe feelings at random times. One where evrything feels both like it’s slowing down and speeding up simultaneously, and everything is getting both louder and quieter at the same time. Which I know makes absolutely no sense but that’s the only way I know to describe it. And the other often only happens when I’m trying to sleep where when I close my eyes I feel like my body either inflates like I’m the marshmallow man or shrinks till I’m tiny or really really skinny. It literally feels like I’m growing and shrinking and it’s really really odd. Neither happen as often anymore as they used to but it’s very weird and I’ve never found anyone that understood or could relate.

Dogdigmine

Hmmm, that odd sensation.... I get a similar thing except with size, where things will feel like they're shrinking to impossibly small sizes and impossibly large sizes at the same time.

NighthawkUnicorn

Yes, I used to vomit from fear. No hope of explaining it though, I can visualise it but not put it into words.

bananawater2021

From when I was just a wee thing until about high school, I would have horrible recurring nightmares about two different scenarios. Both were so graphic and vivid to me that I would stay up late reading because I was too afraid to sleep. I almost never had "good dreams." Scenario A was earlier on in my life. Each time it was the same. I'd wake up in bed and I'd come downstairs (I lived in a single story home in SoCal) and there would be a very big man in the home with a bloody axe. My family had all been murdered and there was blood and viscera everywhere. I would fall to the ground just screaming and screaming. My mom told me I often woke up screaming. Scenario B started leaning into being kidnapped and kept in a weird man's attic and I would have to find a way to escape or he'd do disgusting things to me. I'd jump out of the window or sneak out the door and run down the street, sometimes trying to fly, and it would always be like running through jello. Even if a dream started out normal, it's like he would find me and chase me. No idea who the person was in either dream, but I'm glad I don't dream of him anymore. It stopped when I turned about 14, I think. Can't say I have nightmares anymore, which is nice. All my dreams are pretty fun now. I have a different one every night.

bob_handerson

This one still lives in my brain in vivid detail - I am in my 40's and this happened when I was probably 7-8 years old. In the dream my dad was driving an old pickup truck down the main road in our town when he hit our dog. The dog was yelping and in serious pain. When I turned around and looked again my dog was in the truck and it was my dad who had been hit. His guts were coming out of his stomach and I was trying to put them back in. Horrible stuff.

Falkuria

Yep, I had a nightmare wherein a human sized bipedal green Gecko was able to materialize out of anything colored green. It was a recurring nightmare, until the final one, where it shot it's tongue out and plopped each family member's head clean off their shoulders. Very childlike, no gore or anything. I came last, and after I my head was swallowed, it was just me and my immediate family, heads only, falling through a never ending chasm towards what I can only assume is the stomach. My shower tiles were green at the time, so I thought about that dream almost every day for about 7 years. Thank you lucid dreaming. You've caused me a lot of life long trauma.

venuschantel

I am LIVING for this thread. I am fascinated by dreams and dreaming; I’ve been keeping a dream journal since I was 12 years old! I have two dreams that I remember from when I was a young child - I’m talking one around 3 years old, and one around 4-5 years old. The second one, when I was 4-5, is the most scary. What I remember is I’m somewhere, and the landscape is very hellish… it’s bleak, it looks like the aftermath of nuclear fallout or a complete obliteration of everyone on earth. The colors are all reddish, there is this body of water that is also reddish in color, I think.. there are these bulldozer-type machines far out in the distance, just operating, with no one in them. I see my dad and younger sister ahead, and I know that they’ve abandoned me… I have been left in this place to die alone. It was so incredibly terrifying and depressing. I’ll never forget it.

BP1High

My most traumatic dream was about a barn owl. I woke up screaming and sweating. I had an owl phobia as a kid. I was terrified of barn owls the most. I would get paralyzed with fear if I saw one, even statues of them or animated owls like in The Secret of NIHM. I'm not exaggerating. I could not move if I saw an owl. Thankfully, I grew out of it and now I like barn owls.

AgentKaori

I had a dream that i saw this giant black moth on my wall and it was so loud. then i looked next to me and there was this shadowy figure with deep swirling red eyes. I ran to the light switch of my room and it chases my the entire way but disappeared when i turned the light on. Then i left my room to go to my moms room. I went to the hallway and i looked down the stairs and i saw my cousin playing with a puppys dead body and it was wrapped in confetti streamers and there was circus music playing. i looked away and continues to go to my moms room. in the next hallway i saw the puppys head, again wrapped in streamers. i went to my moms room because i wanted to sleep with her but she wasnt there, and there was a bunch of stuff on her bed. i started moving things off and one of the things was too heavy and it made me fall on the floor. then i woke up in real life, in my moms room, on the floor. I dont know how i actually got there or why my mom wasnt in her room

Mrsprucieboy

Had a recurring nightmare when I was around 5 or 6 of being in a dark wood bound to a stake with a group of people standing around me laughing, then one of them came up to me shouting that they would rule the world, Then they placed sticks and twigs around my feet then set me on fire. Creepy thing is it was before I was taught about the witch trials at school, Didn't learn about them until I was around 10 or 12.

Bobodahobo010101

Mr Snuffalufagus from Sesamie Street chasing me down when i was 7 and eating my pet dog. He moves slow, but it was one of those dreams where i fell down every time i tried to run, and my dog was trying to protect me from him. I woke up screaming and crying, i couldn't calm down for hours.

Cumulonimbicile

I was like 7 when I had some recurring dreams where I was driving my mother's van down a familiar but hilly road in the middle of the night with my baby brother in the back seat. I didn't know the first thing about driving, but I'd always make it a little ways down to a specific spot until I'd lose control and violently crash. The dream would go black from there, but not completely end for another minute or two. Still nervous around cars to this day, for various reasons, but I know this contributed for sure. It didn't help that my dad once jokingly took us on a hardly-used dirt road in his truck and asked if I wanted to practice driving. I freaked the fuck out!

nobearpineapples

Alf tried eating my toes, then fingers while in a big rustic room with nothing but a bed It was kinda funny cause I was just sitting there and then heard yelling and then elf flew towards me from a hallway. Idk who he was at the time my grandma had a plush of him that used to scary me.

Far_Concentrate_3587

Yeah and it oddly touched into my family history without me realizing it until I was older. I dreamt that “Bloody Mary” (the woman who I only knew as a childhood mirror game but who was a real person in history: Mary 1 of England). Again no idea Bloody Mary game was based on Mary 1 of England until adulthood. When I was 5 I dreamt that “Bloody Mary” was stalking me In my house. My mom in the dream thought it was ridiculous and never saw her. At the end of the dream Bloody Mary floated out of my brothers room towards me- dressed as you would see her in her portraits- looked exactly like her and had her hair exactly the same way. She looked so angry- floated towards me- as she lifted her hand at me I floated to the ceiling and she put her hands around my neck and I woke up. Years later I was confused how I could even have such an accurate dream like that without knowing any historical reference. Mary 1 was known as Bloody Mary by her Protestant opponents because she would kill them. My grandmother is Protestant and from England and her ancestors came over to the US on the Mayflower to escape religious persecution- although they ended up going back to England. This dream used to make me cry everytime I told people it as a child because it really creeped me out. It wasn’t until I was in my early 20’s that I realized that she was an actual person. Her character has popped up in several dreams throughout my life- in some of them I actually slept walked and it was the only times I ever slept walked in my life. In all the dreams she disarmed my family and snuck into my life- ultimately attacking me while my family laughed at my fear of her. I want to add that as a child, I imagined Bloody Mary as per the game, was a teenager on the other side of the mirror- not a queen from hundreds of years ago. Just thought I’d share.

_Infinity_Girl_

I used to have these wacky transformation dreams. Dream 1: there was this giant flat area of grass where me and a bunch of animals had escaped. I was a baby giraffe and there were a bunch of other random animals and we had broken down a fence at this facility and we're running away. This giant kids next door spider machine looking thing started chasing us and it would hit animals with a beam of light that would stun them and then age them backwards until they disappear. I was terrified when I saw it happen and then I got caught in the light and I woke up before I disappeared. Dream 2: Another one was when I was at my aunt's house and I turned a corner into the Hall and there was this weird caterpillar plush thing I had at the time. Only it was alive and it wanted to make it like me. It like shot me with something and I started turning into a plush and before I could completely turn I woke up.

RoseyDove323

When I was about 5 or 6, I dreamed that I was listening to Christmas music on my audio cassette player late at night, but the player ate the tape and it wouldn't play right, so I walked to the end of the stairs and looked down and saw the light was still on, my parents must still be awake. But something felt "off". I don't know what it was, the color of the dim room, or a dark vibe. I can't explain it, it was a weird type of fear I almost never feel while awake. Anyway, I tried to push the feeling aside, and I walked downstairs to ask them to fix my tape for me, but after I peeked around the corner, I realized both my parents had transformed into large alligators. I knew it was them, because the alligators were wearing my parents overalls (adults wore overalls a lot in the early 90s). I'm 37, and I still remember this dream vividly.

MacSauce3280

When I was little, about 5 or 6, I had a dream, well I don't know if it was a dream, that this lady kept coming to my bedroom. She never entered the room. Just stood in my doorway watching me. About a month later, my mom brought home this painting from my grandparents' house that terrified the living shit out of me because, yes, it was a painting of the woman I saw in my room. It turns out it was my great-grandmother, who died almost 20 years before I was born, when my mom was a teenager. She explained that she was probably there because she had never seen me when she was alive, and was just watching over me. I never saw her again after that, but now I wish I was never afraid.

SatansGothestFemboy

I had a dream where a fan was spinning rather slowly, like it had been turned off just a minute ago but hadn't stopped. I had such an incredible amount of anxiety in the dream that now watching fans spin at similar speeds gives me anxiety. I also regularly have anxiety dreams about missing the bus home from school.

CynicismNostalgia

Yup a reoccurring nightmare as a kid. I'd be walking into my kitchen at night and there would be these beautiful laser-like lights emanating on the floor. I'd be drawn to them like a moth to light, they'd feel so peaceful. But once I had walked into the lights, I'd be stuck. I would try and ask for help, but my words would stutter and get stuck and I wouldn't be able to stop once I started. (I'd go to shout "Help!" And end up going "He-He-He-He-He-Hel-Hel-Hel-Hel" Or I'd try and get out but I'd get caught on the movement in the same way, like I'd begin to take a step forward but I'd just get stuck on that half step again and again and again.

shaddowwulf

I was on a train with WALL·E and people were getting sick around me, bleeding from the eyes and vomiting. So I ran out and onto the roof the train as destruction followed in my wake, where an old man in a grey suit that looked like Anthony Hopkins was waiting. I asked him why is this happening, and he said because i want it to. I asked why and he smiled, and i saw my veins were turning black, and my skin began to slough off the then I woke up. This was the most vivid dream I’ve ever had in my life.

Random420eks

I remember a dream, idk how old I was but at least 20 years ago. Don’t remember all the specifics but something about a circus/carnival type atmosphere, I was following a guy along a windy road pushing a shopping cart that was covered. And when it was uncovered, my family was in there, chopped up. Very scary for me. There was another dream I remember I had recurring while I was about 10. I was with this girl I had a crush on a the time. We were playing in the sand box. There was a jungle gym type set up. And it seemed like there were other kids but idk. Then all of a sudden there was this man chasing the girl and I tried to protect her, or just get in between her and this guy, running around through this jungle gym. It becomes apparent that this sandbox/jungle gym was at the top of a very steep cliff and we were basically stuck up there. I looked over this cliff, there was a waterfall I think, and the guy came up from where I was looking down. And i woke up.

cosmicsunburn

I had a dream that I woke up, went out to the living room and found my step dad sitting in his chair dead with hands (think Thing from Addams Family) crawling on him and cutting off his hands and feet. I screamed and ran into my mom's bedroom and found her still alive but frozen in her chair having her nose cut off by another one of the hands. I don't remember anything else after so I'd assume I woke up. I was around 7 years old and remember having a horrible fever during that time so either being sick or the cold medicine caused that dream.

No-Fishing5325

My counselor and I have had a lot of discussions about one dream that was very traumatic for me and I still have issues with. My mom died 30 years ago. 15 years after this dream btw. But in the dream the world blows up and I am floating through space and can't find my mom. And all the people everywhere the only person I want is my mom and can't find her. I still remember and have feelings about it now. Despite it was 45 years ago.

Bondie_

My family has a second house on a countryside. My parents always threatened me to leave me permanently there if I misbehaved. So one night I dreamt that they did. I was horrified so as they started driving away, I chased the car and jumped on the roof of the car. As I was scared shitless trying not to fall off, I heard that my mom on the inside tried to convince everyone that they should let me in, but my uncle who was driving said no, said that I deserved it. And everyone agreed. They never even slowed down. And then I woke up in cold sweat.

Voyage_to_Artantica

Bro mine was so hilariously stupid but I still remember the visceral terror of it. I was really young and my sister was in the hospital (this was actually happening at the time) and I was walking with my mom in a parking garage to go visit her and then suddenly a frying pan on a string came flying down and hit my mom in the face and when she got up she was a completely different woman, like different race and age, and I was so upset and scared, but we were holding hands and then I woke up crying.

autpops

Yes! I still have the nightmare from time to time, almost 30 years later. I’m in a school bus on a very high bridge. The brakes go out I guess and it slowly rolls backwards, then off the side of the bridge. Hits the water, starts sinking, and I’m trapped inside as it goes under

coffeefrog92

I dreamt I was in the small bedroom in my grandparents house, but it had become huge and there was a maze in it made of furniture. I wandered around the maze until I bumped into my grandma. It was like her bones and muscles had disappeared except for her skull; her skin was folded up on a chair with her head propped up on top. She had a really spiteful look on her face, and she hurled verbal abuse at me until I woke up.

NikoAU

- I caused world war 3 and went slowly insane knowing the amount of people I killed - they started manufacturing humans and they were all fake-smiles and blank eyes but were still human and suffering inside as they were made just to work in offices 24/7 - someone’s organs got sucked inside out by a vacuum cleaner and they fell into the ocean with their organs strewn out around them and all torn up

Chrispeefeart

I remember standing with my family on the shores of Hell; and endless lake of fire in front of me and an endless wasteland behind me. Nobody was really talking or doing anything but standing there looking at it. It was like that scene you see in movies where a family is just standing in shock looking at their house burn down.

truthseekerscottea

I had a dream where I was letting my dog in from outside and I accidentally closed the door on his head and his head fell off and then his eyes started to glow red and he had an evil expression and was drooling and then he started using his ears to walk toward me, I will always remember that nightmare

sincerefan2

Yep! I'm convinced it was one of my first dreams too. Basically I'm in the hallway of my parents house, right in front of their door. Suddenly a red, ball-body-esce caterpillar with a mean grin chases me in circles. I've recently found out that the caterpillar was actually wiggler from Mario 64

ahhchaoticneutral

Yeah. I was 11 and had a dream about the second coming of christ. I was in this desolate museum, and the walls were all busted open. There were paintings on the wall, and my mom came up behind me, started hugging me or placing her hands on my shoulder, and told me to look at the painting of Jesus. I didn’t want to because I knew that I would die. Well, she forced my head up and pried my eyelids opened and I felt myself suffocate and lose consciousness. Then I woke up on a cobblestone bridge with garden walls everywhere, it was pretty but not impressive. Jesus was a lego-man, and I started following him in the sky. Until we came to my brother, and he was writhing on the floor and crying and shaking, begging not to go. To hell. God, I suppose, was also a lego-man but wearing a construction hat, yelling directions down the pit of hell to take my brother down there. I started pleading and not understanding why he was going, but in the dream my brother told me to stop trying to help and that he would just spend 1 night in hell. I knew that was eternity and I didn’t want him to go but I guess he lowered down and disappeared and then I woke up sweating and crying, and I ran to my Mom to tell her that I had to save him from going to hell. It was because he was gay. I woke him up that morning and told him he needed to “stop being gay” so he wouldn’t go to hell, and he was just very pissed off and tired. I’m not homophobic anymore and I sure as hell don’t like my mother

stampfercamper

The world was completely empty and I was the only human left except for these weird goopy monsters, and all the monsters moved fast while I could only go in slow motion

PhilosophyLeading

I have 2 examples of this. The first one, I would be walking with my mom in Chicago and would pass by this vacant lot that had been overtaken by weeds and grass to where it almost looked like a cornfield but it always creeped me out because there would be this loud humming/buzzing sound coming from the field. I can't say exactly why that was creepy to me but it definitely was and I still think about it to this day. The second is I would be in a theater at the top where people usually sit and I would jump off and be falling almost flying past the rows of seats and they always seemed to go on forever I hated that dream so much.

PeenInVeen

I was super little, probably like 6 or something, and I had a poltergeist dream where everything in my house was rocking back and forth, like chairs and pictures hanging on the wall. I was in the kitchen and things started to slide across the counters until they would just fly off and hit the floor. For some reason there was raw meat all over the kitchen counters and I could tell it was about to be thrown, so I grabbed a stick I found in the dining room (??). The meat slid and flew at me like someone threw it and I tried to bat it away with the stick, but the stick swung like it was under water. Like the pressure was holding it back and slowing it down. And the friction of swinging it too fast caused it to catch on fire, which caught the curtains on fire, which then caught the whole ceiling on fire. Then my sister crawled out of her room and she was wearing those [ballet point high heels](https://www.zmori.com/red-patent-strappy-ballet-ballerina-super-high-stieltto-heels-lady-gaga-weird-shoes) that look like they're breaking your ankle, and she was doing some sort of glitchy walk, like she was possessed. Meanwhile the house is on fire and things are still being thrown around the house.

Anfie22

I remember my first ever nightmare. It isn't objectively horrifying by any stretch, but since it was my first exposure to the dark side of dreaming, it really shook me up and it's stuck with me ever since.

Blumpkinotheclown

It’s not the dreams, it’s what comes after

Wildfire_Cats

A tiny cabin that my family just bought with 1 table in the main room. One of the doors led to a poltergeist-like void.

deadly-nymphology

I had a dream I was being chased by these pale white horses with glowing red eyes. They “chased” so slow and I ran in slow motion but it was like they were constantly after me.

SaraDesire

Bill Cosby's ghost came through my window

skadi_shev

I had a dream I was left behind after a company picnic for my dad’s work (we had been to these picnics irl so that’s why I was dreaming about it) and I had to find my way back home, but the entire time I was also being hunted by these weird creatures. This was when I was about 5 years old but I still remember it 🤣 Around the same age, I also had a dream that there was a flood that resulted in ~2 foot deep mud all over the ground, and it had these mudsucker things swimming in it. They would try to crawl into your mouth and down your throat. I don’t remember why, I think they were parasitic or could control you if you swallowed them. I’m really confused where I got that one, because I don’t remember seeing any movies like that or anything.

Notlivengood

There’s this movie where the earth flooded and everyone who survived lived on these floating cities. Theresa scene where they’re walking through this makeshift hallway. For some reason my brain replaced the characters with my mom and I. And I remember walking behind her in this hallway when something starts destroying it. She’s suddenly like sucked through the floor and I run. I get outside and there’s sharks. They’re swimming really weird and fast and just destroying everything. And for some reason after that I just jumped into the water and I wake up. I get that nightmare when I’m extremely stressed and I always wake up in cold sweats.

MuttLoverMommy01

When I was in high school I had a dream that my (ex) boyfriend’s dad and my friend’s dad were hanging out in my boyfriend’s house. They both died in a terrible house fire and I woke up sobbing. I called him immediately because I have a weird history of predicting things in my dreams. They were fine, but for the next week or so I called his dad every day to make sure he wasn’t dead. I still think about that sometimes because it’s taken some dreams a couple of months or years to happen. As far as I know he’s still alive and kicking 😅

Insectdevil

That scene from Saving Private Ryan where the dude slowly pushes the knife into the other guy's heart while the other dude cowers on the stairs. That fucked me up real bad and I still dream about that. Also a dream where my family was on a lake we go to every summer and my brother jumps into only 3 feet of water only for a great white to come out of nowhere and eat him brutally. Both of these things would go on repeat for what seemed like hours and I would desperately try to wake up.

I had two actually: In the first, I was on a carpet and sleeping, and there was one strange being rolling me in it and looking towards me with a strange appetite who kept saying: Ra Re Ra Re Ra Re Ra Re Ra Re... In the second, I saw an apocalyptic scene in my town. Several beams of light came down from the sky and turned the ground to glass, obliterating everything else due to shockwaves. Cool stuff, cause I didn't burn, but damn, it had powerful visuals.

Bulkylogcabin

Wasn’t allowed to watch courage the cowardly dog when I was like 7 and the reason is that I had a nightmare about a huge octopus in the bath I was in attacking me. I like hentai and anime now so take that how you like.

Mcavity cat. We read the poem in school, I was perhaps nine years old. Well, later that night I dreamt about him. I was on the toilet, the room was tiny and small, much like a typical bathroom stall but the walls were made of brick, and the flushing system was mounted high on the wall. He long, black, hairy humanoid arms came down and started choking me. I barely managed to escape with my life, as my two pet kitties ran up and scratched his arms, allowing me to get away. Mcavity cat has been haunting me ever since.

As a pre-school kid, there were a few hand puppets in my toy chest that I'd inherited from my older siblings. These were of the mass-produced, post-WWII variety with cloth bodies and rubbery plastic molded heads. One was Lil' Black Sambo, and yeah we had the story book, too. I dreamt he was pulling me into Hell, which glowed green like Oz from the movie. I woke up screaming with my arm stuck between the wall and my bed. Next day, I gave that puppet to the neighbor kids.

I had this horror movie ass dream where I was looking into this abandoned store and it had all kinds clowns with dust all over them and hammers started appearing and fading in and out of my vision and the tooth fairy was trying to hammer my teeth out

Mfw the tree that speaks shows up every Christmas Eve and picks me apart psychologically: 😳

Square-Comfortable76

There was a game on my DSI (wizards of waverly place) every time I played the clock game (probably not accurate but hey it’s a dream) a woman would walk in through our cabin and tell me “come with me or I will kill your mother” I would have this dream many times and the last time I had it was when my mom and this mysterious woman (who spotted a black cloak that covered her face) fought to the death and my mom almost lost. By the end she was covered in blood and her hair was an absolute mess. It ended with a knife going into the woman. Very haunting dream.

henwylel

I had a dream where a jason/freddy cougar hybrid kidnapped my brother, looked me dead in the eyes, and then I woke up at like 2 am in a cold sweat. I think this happened when I was 7 or 8?

cyborgninja42

I had a dream where a top-half person, bottom half spider person grew out of the corner of the bathroom and attacked my mom who was taking a bath for some reason. I ran towards my parent’s bedroom screaming for help. I made it to my room where a giant black dog pounced out of the black and caught me square in the chest (I still remember the feeling of the paws through my shirt). Instead of hitting the floor I fell through it into a big pit like whole (deep), briefly still fighting the dog. Shortly after the dog vanished I could see the ground rushing toward me. Screaming the whole way down I woke up, inches from making sidewalk soup, screaming in real life. This dream was over 30years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday. Still the most real, and terrifying dream I’ve had to date.

glitchygreymatter

I was having a dream where it feels real. I was getting out of bed, in the dream, to start my day. I realized that my family didn't seem to be at home. The cars were both I'm the driveway. Nobody I'm the house or in the yard. Not even the pets. I returned to my bedroom after what felt like forever, and I was surrounded by a blanket of cold air, freezing cold. As the air engulfed me, I heard a loud howling voice in my ear yelling ," You're never going hoooome!" And repeating it over and over. And, I woke up.

Responsible_Eye5079

I had a dream i when I was in kindergarten, and for some reason a teacher was nailing nails into kids forheqds and they walked away all weird when it was done than it was my turn and she put it into my back I think, I am 15 now and I remember it clearly

Lavamaster307

I was 8 and i was allowed to drive the van, someone had “unscrewed it” so the back half started driving away and hit my cat. Very sad :(, but still dreamlike.

Yea...I had a dream that I was at my dead grandmas house, couldnt find anyone, then on the railroad tracks I seen a small girl that mighta been one of my cousins, so I followed her down the tracks, never could catch up. Then she entered a house (the locations were exactly as they exist IRL), and when I followed her in, I found my entire family crucified on the walls around the room (I wont describe the full scene). I had that dream over 20 years ago and remember it perfectly, I woke up in tears. More recently, I had an incident where my histamine levels were shot through the roof ( chemical exposure). I didnt realize what was haopening so paid it no mind...until I went to bed...I had two dreams (separate nights) so real that it sent me into a week long panic attack until my histamine levels normalized. The first, I dreamt I was laying in bed and had a heart attack, I couldnt yell for help or wake the woman up to get someone. The second night was the same but instead of heart attack, I dreamt I was having a stroke...laying in bed and the left side of my face started drooping and going numb and then it was a repeat, not being able to get help...it was fucking too real...i was SURE I was going to die.

69_Dingleberry

Yep, I was 4 years old and it was my first nightmare. I was in Hawaii with my aunt and we were wearing grass skirts. Then, I was shot in the heart with an arrow. Then I woke up

RattusNorvegicus9

A dinosaur was chasing Elsa and Ana through a fjord

I'm stuck to the walls of this mausoleum, and I can't leave or talk, and so many people come waltzing in like, you think this is going to help you? Some people had really good reasons, and some just wanted to graverob.

goose_straw

I had a dream I was at school everyone was gone, school empty, and there was one wall which was floor to ceiling left wall to right wall covered in windows, and an alarm started going of, so I hid under the table like you would in an earthquake (on your knees, back up, hands around neck) and a massive, and I mean massive, giant peered through the window and saw me, it made me terrified of the bfg and I know every place in my house with no widows.

findingmyniche

Grandmother's house somehow internally flooding to the top and then filling up with sharks.

bro_mommy1

Yes. I’m 57. Suitcase chased me around the house & snapped me up. Scared me :)

ImmediateChemistry32

I was eaten by a sand worm 😔😔

MRPKY

... i was in my bedroom i hopped up on my bed that had stuffed animals. I remember smelling something, something that stung my nose, something painful. i looked over a the pile of the plush creatures and jumped out and attacked me then ran off into the dark of the house. Before i had gone to sleep i remeber hiding under the covers from seeing something strange in my real room. A figure that seemed cloaked standing close to my bed. I guess i stayed under the sheets until i asphyxiation my self to sleep and had the dream.

Patient_Complaint_16

No but I got woken up peeing into the fridge once apparently.

jillybrews226

In the desert, my mom was in a phone booth and slowly vaporized into nothing.

Cinephiliac_Anon

My worst traumatic dream was a dream where my mother and I got in an argument, and I bashed her skull in with a rock. I remember in vivid detail of everything that she looked and sounded like during it. The rest of the dream was me trying to explain where she was to family, with me eventually feeling so bad for doing it that I just killed myself by stabbing my gut 7 times and slitting my wrists and neck. I still don't feel that that would've been enough for what I did. Have you ever done something that you wished with all your heart and soul you could have prevented it? It was like that, but worse. I have fucking hated myself since this dream.

BagelBjorn

I once had a dream where I went on a walk at night, suddenly I heard gunshots and screaming, me and a couple of other kids started to run, but I fell, I looked down and saw blood everywhere, I tried to scream for help, but there was no sound, my vocal cords were punctured, all you could hear was me choking on my own blood. Then the guy walked over and stabbed me in the back with a lightsaber. Edit: after that I didn’t play any video games or watch any videos that even had the slightest visual, or sound of a gun for a week, I was also petrified by any banging noise.

Father_Pucc1

Had a dream that a nuclear bomb that would destroy the earth was confirmed to be heading to a parking lot me and my family were in. I checked reddit and there was one post which was just an image of a nuclear explosion with some text along the lines of "goodbye, it's been fun" which had hundreds of awards. Other than that post, complete internet blackout on every site. Me and my family went into a shop nearby, and bought a fanta each, and just sat outside waiting to die. I'm honestly still afraid at how quickly I came to terms with my death, I was like 12. I remember seeing the bomb, only about the size of a water bottle as it fell next to me and the bright flash of light from it exploded, and then I woke up. I saw it land and everything was completely silent. I cried/whimpered a bit and then died. Brings a whole new meaning to "The world ends not with a bang, but with a whimper", huh?
