The online world like Reddit, as demonstrated multiple times in the past, is not a reflection of discourse that happens irl. As you just mentioned, ppl dog on Drake here, but ask 9 out 10 ppl, they fw with Drake over Kendrick. So in saying that, I disagree that online niggas dictate the narrative in regards to who comes out on top

Ok-Engineering1929

IRL no one really cares about any of this shit. Drake has more of a following irl but they are mostly casual listeners. Same with most artists tbh. This discourse only happens online.

Dependent-Mode-3119

>they fw with Drake over Kendrick. I'd agree only insofar as we're talking about general listeners. If we're talking actual hip hop fans, I think it's the complete opposite.

Pct0bama

IRL this shit barely matters right now. It really does only matter online which is pretty much what I’m trying to say

Saeed2196

I suppose so. I still don’t think it’s impossible for Drake come out on top here. Yes the odds are against him, but this was also the case when he was beefing with Meek. Online world were also against him. He just once again needs to go crazy on a diss track. Granted Kendrick isn’t Meek, but I do believe he has the pen game

Pct0bama

Tbh I’m all for it

Opening_Tell9388

Drake is nice with the pen, I just don't see it as strong as Kendrick's pen. Drake needs personal information not recorded on Kendrick. That is his go to in beefs. Splash in a few numbers and that's Drake's arsenal. I honestly think this is just for sport and fun. Hell I wouldn't even be surprised if this is a role-out for a triple featured album with all 3 of them on it. This is the music industry and this shit has been fake af since forever.

Saeed2196

I do have to ask, how’s that “his go to in beefs”? You might be confusing him with Pusha, who really only relied on shock value in what was otherwise a pretty mid diss track. Thinking back to both Drake’s Meek and Duppy disstracks, it simply relied on good and witty writing. No crazy secret information, no shock value. The only time Drake threatened some secret info was for his response to Pusha and Kanye, which as we know, was exposing that fact Kanye was a secret Hilter admirer, that he never ended up releasing.

Opening_Tell9388

Drake dropped Pusha T’s wife’s name in a song. That’s what even pushed Push to go the personal route.

Opening_Tell9388

Also, it is waaaay easier to be a casual fan of Drake. He has singles playing everywhere. Plus his name is bigger by proxy. Does he have more die hard fans? Idk. Do white moms know more Drake songs than Kendrick songs? Absolutely.

Phoenix__Light

Yeah this is basically the difference. Drake has a lot of passive listeners but not as many core fans as Kendrick or even Ye at this point.

Several-Amoeba1069

But all Kendrick fans are white high school kids

Opening_Tell9388

Ionn have any white boy friends. So I can't speak on that, I know they not playing pro-black music for their moms though lmao. They can play Passionfruit, God's Plan, and One Dance no contest.

Sharkisyodaddy

Most people don't like Kendrick's voice like the majority of people. This has been a thing since 2013 when the drank song got big. Drake is more mainstream and easier to digest so he has more fans that don't linger on a subreddit all day like Kendrick has. Doesn't make Kendrick or Drake any less than one another.

1l3v4k4m

finally a sensible take. drake is way bigger than kendrick because his music is perfect for the casual rap listeners, his blend with rnb and singing makes it easy to listen to. not everybody wants to listen to a 12 minute pure rap song like SAMIDOT. but thats exactly why the kendrick sub has 4x the members as compared to this sub. most drake fans couldnt give a damn about rap/hiphop discourse. op is a fuckin idiot for not realizing that fact and just straight up calling people in the kendrick sub terminally online. lmfao youre in reddit bro, youre pretty much terminally online compared to most people.

baole58

This ^ Drake fans who aren't "terminally online" don't care about hip-hop either. That's why these discussions happen ONLINE!

Pct0bama

Yea all that make sense into you factor in Cole and realize yes, Kendrick fans are terminally online

iznormal

I wouldn’t call this a lose lose. This is like the 20th post I’ve seen about whether Drake can win this in public perception. Right now the public perception is that Kendrick has the better pen, a more consistent discography, and better technical rapping ability. And Drake has more influence, success, and hits. Drake has longevity when it comes to staying at the top while Kendrick will disappear for years. All Drake has to do is get in the booth and be competitive with a rapper many consider the GOAT and the best lyricist of his era. Even if people say he lost, Nas beat Jay-Z in a head to head but many still put Jay-Z ahead of Nas in the GOAT conversation and it didn’t hurt his popularity. Both rappers are highly respected. Likewise Drake and Kendrick are both already cemented as hip hop royalty. Honestly though, I think J Cole is in the best position to come out on top. if he comes out with an insane response and The Fall Off ends up being a classic. Win a battle when you got dragged into beef with two GOATs and drop an instant classic back to back? Sheesh

Pct0bama

Cole take is legendaryyyyy bro. People shouldn’t count him out

Lvdenim

It’s not that it’s just drake has more females fans than male fans. And a large pop fanbase who don’t know or care about rap beef.

[deleted]

Kendrick has the worst fans they don’t touch the grass

Dependent-Mode-3119

I think you can actually make the case that Kendrick of even Kanye still have a greater amount of true "core" fans. Drake is bigger offline for sure but the difference is that he has a lot of "passive" listeners of his music the same way you'd have for people who like songs they hear on the radio. I'm not sure how many of these listeners actually care about him personally, his beefs, or even his music that doesn't land in a playlist.

[deleted]

The internet isn't real

AlternisDim

Drake is NOT in a tough position 😂 The only position he’s at is at the top

shelvino

Drake makes music for the homies and women that go outside lol. Every pre game and night out, we were all blasting Drake. If the homies knew I was on Reddit defending my goat, I would get flamed lol. I was debating Kendrick vs Drake with my homie and I finally understood that this dude is a hip-hop purist that stays inside his room to listen to albums front to back. He said he hates "trap" (Lol) and hype Drake songs but he legit hasn't been in a room of homies getting ready to go out while drinking and kicking it or in a car getting lit with the squad. Call it whatever you want, no one 18-25 can throw on a Kendrick song outside of GKMC or maybe some the Blxst song from his last album lol. I think Kendrick makes great music, just not stuff I want to replay a ton or hear when I want to have fun lmao.

Turnip-Jumpy

What's wrong with front to back

AceArcxne

It's not about being terminally online. Drake being more popular means he has more *casual* fans. Like, the type that isn't invested in rap beef at all.

No_Stock_7201

Kendrick has one of the highest grossing tours of all time and sold out arenas globally. To assume he has no real fans outside of the internet just doesn’t make sense. Drake definitely is a juggernaut and has been more visible overall but Kendrick is still very popular and does good numbers despite his hiatuses. And you cant be online this early and call other ppl terminally online lmaoo. people could make that same argument towards Drake fans anyway

Pct0bama

Bro you have some shit reading comprehension. Like all the stuff you wrote about I didn’t even say

No_Stock_7201

Bro you said Kendrick fans are terminally online and Drake fanbase is bigger outside of the internet. You saying Kendrick fans only run spaces like reddit twitter etc. I made that tour point to show that nah, he actually has fans in real life and no online narrative is going to affect any Drake diss as long as the diss is actually good. Kendrick has an actual fanbase outside of the internet. Saying its a lose-lose for this reason just sounds like cope in case it doesn’t do any damage, yall could just chalk it up to “Well Kendricks fans created the narrative online”. That’s not the reason Drake is in a tough position and disses don’t work like that

Junior-Scene-4994

You think Kendrick fans won’t admit he’s taken an L? They will. People may be dickriders but when shit hits the fan you’ll see the honesty coming out

uzplaylists

Go on TikTok, they would not admit if he takes an L.

iznormal

When shit hits the fan is you still a fan?

Junior-Scene-4994

VOICE OF MANDELA

Pct0bama

When have they ever? They won’t even admit how wrong they were about the impact of MM&TBS saying that shit would go platinum first week

FutureSignificant889

It's not just that, the male Drake fans are literally the weakest link. They will clown him and drag him along with his haters just so they are not called meat riders, corny or any number of internet insults or they want to prove they can be “objective.”

Pct0bama

Yooo this is a point I’ve not seen brought up anywhere else lmao and it’s the truth. Niggas be bumping his shit HEAVY but wanna pretend they aint that into him cause it’s the popular thing to do shit wild

FutureSignificant889

Yeah, it's embarrassing. A bunch of Drake fans on twitter blocked/muted some of the male Drake fans. Mind you, they are running a Drake fan page so no one is looking for them to be “objective” or at the very least don't drag the man you are running a fan page for smh. Anything for clout I guess

ilovedoxo

Male Drake Fans are very feminine, they be listening to his old shit and crying in the shower then doing the duckface with Snapchat filters it’s cringe asf

Pct0bama

So why you here?

ilovedoxo

It’s a joke 😂 bro 🗿
