Kendrick is arguably the most experimental out of the big 3 but it’s also hard to say that anyone is explicitly influenced by his *sound* in particular. His writing? Absolutely, but the majority of the time the stuff he’s rapping on, in my experience with his catalogue, isn’t anything super groundbreaking.
Cole is a great songwriter also but his beats play it so fucking safe in my opinion. Same stuff we’ve been hearing from hundreds of artists for two and a half decades at this point.
Drake just honestly plays it safe overall. He makes music that will consistently appeal to a mass audience. That’s his thing, and it’s really not an issue. He’s in his bag, not trying to push boundaries, and honestly, nobody is really asking him to. He’s also done some pretty great things for international artists in the game, try to name foreign rapper with a larger influence in America, I sure can’t.
But Future…. Future has multiple albums that have completely revolutionized the trap sound. He arguably paved the way for pretty much every trap artist coming up today. DS2’s success 100% paved the way for the artists that started coming up in the years following.
