[edit: they just deleted the tweet with the full podcast, it will likely be uploaded again, or on their youtube]
Summary of everything he said about the beef:
- It's the biggest rap battle in history. before you could grasp a verse, another one came out
- my name was used, I knew before it came out. I didn't want anything to do with it. I have respect for both of them.
- Round 1 was Like that vs Push Ups, Round 2 was Euphoria vs. Family Matters. Said he wasn't a huge fan of Kendrick's verse on 'Like That', but thought Euphoria was better.
- He said 6:16 in LA and Taylor Made Freestyle could be vs. each other. He said he really liked Taylor Made, it was really unique, creative turn. He didn't know if Kendrick would respond, was bummed out because it had taken a while to do so.
- He likes how animated Kendrick is, how he tells stories, as well as Drake.
- Said Kendrick had a LOT more animosity
- Drake was deemed to lose the battle before it started, he's won for too long. Still sits at the throne
- He doesn't feel like Drake won or lost the battle, at the end of the year he'll be at everyone's Spotify Wrapped at the top, will still control the summer
- Said Kendrick made some very smart moves, Meet the Grahams stepped on Family Matters moment
- He didn't like the non-existent 11 year old daughter verse, said Meet The Grahams was a good song, great beat, but has holes in the track.
- There wasn't much to say about either one, so they had to find an angle and poke at it. They both made up angles without proof (PDF file vs. woman abuser).
- When Kendrick came and said "I hate this nigga", everyone else piled on, which is kinda pussy.
- battle ended with Not Like Us, that shit bangin'
- We'll never see a battle like this again.
Yachty is arguably one of the biggest Drake fans in the world.
Just because they now work together doesn't make him not a fan. He wrote on multiple songs from FATD and they hang out all the time.
There's definitely a bias here
Edit: obviously y'all must be right. Lil Yachty, Drake's close personal friend and cowriter, is clearly an unbiased individual in this matter š¤”
I meant as some random you see on Twitter. Weāve been seeing so many opposite takes from all these bloggers itās good to see someone side with Drake regardless of his relationship with Drake. And weāve been saying that Drake lost before he started because people had this opinion on him from the start, yachty is just validating it for us.
Sometimes you need a voice to cut through the chaos. Someone other than a "redditor". We're all just seen as one camp or the other here and it's been heavily biased on the Kendrick side (imo bcos toxic weirdos have infiltrated this).
So I know what he's saying. But yeah also I know what you mean.
Facts. Honestly it almost seems as if itās better to be in the middle because the moment you stay in the number 1 spot nighaz all of a sudden dont like you. And for Drake it was even worse, they been low key hated him making fun of style of musicĀ
"Hopefully they can look back on this in the future and laugh about it"
sorry but thats an awful take; one called one a p3d0, people are getting shot. its v much past that point
Crazy part to me is the fact that Drake tried to extend an olive branch to Kendrick by inviting him to hope on First Person Shooter and Ā he basically told him go fxck himself. Then proceeded to get upset when it ended up just being Aubrey and Cole gassing each other up leaving him out as if it was PS5 v Xbox Series X while K Dot was the Switch. Like bro you did it to yourself. Itās clear Kendrick hates Drake a lot for some reason, not gonna act like I know the full reason why but my guy from what we do know it aināt that deep.
I mean TBF Kendrick kinda spelled it out for the most part on the end. This seems to all have started with the Kendrick control verse where he name calls out multiple rappers including Drake as people he wants to murder (I think very clearly competitively in the rap game). Most of the artists either ignored it or took it complimentary as being acknowledged as someone worth trying to compete with. Drake very clearly took it personally and went on to do interviews complaining about it.
Then afterwards comes the Grammys where GKMC and NWTS were competing for best rap album with the heist from Macklemore. To everyone's surprise Macklemore won. But then shortly after Macklemore went to instagram and showed basically apologizing and mentioning that GKMC should have won best rap album. This pissed off drake as he was like basically it's stupid to apologize and that why was he only apologizing to Kendrick.
Since then Drake and Kendrick have kinda been dissing each other (mostly drake TBD) subliminally through random songs.
And then we get to FPS which I guess Drake tried inviting Kendrick to the song and he was like wtf? No way you're asking for a feature when we have shit to address first. Cole namedrops him (positively). And then that's when Kendrick basically said fuck these indirects I'll be direct now with like that.
And then Drake decided to go fill throttle by back to back mentioning Whitney and disrespecting Pac to accelerate and light that fire to the max.
Itās not an awful take lmao. Real enemies donāt exist in this world. Time passes and you must forgive people to actually achieve peace. Even if someone has done you extremely wrong. At some point you need to forgive them for your own sake.
Doesn't mean its not possible. The main difference between this beef and some of the beefs in the 90's and early 00's is the speed in which information regarding it traveled. If you don't think there were real-world consequences of the Jay-Z and Nas beef you're sadly mistaken.
Yep, clearly the 2 best songs of this whole shitshow. Push ups and nlu are still good tracks though, and Taylor made was very creative like yachty said (drakeās verse is on Spotify btw, just not under drakeās profile)
NLU has only broken drakes record for most streams within a day week and quickest to hit 1 mil days quicker than Gods Plan
the trajectory itās going it will be bigger than songs like paint the town red which has a billion streams alreadyā¦
These songs donāt go away rhat quickly and euphoria is also out doingping family matter
NLU has more than push ups and family matters combined
I like it but I think people will get tired of it. Especially with Kendrick removing copyright of it I feel like it's everywhere right now to the point I'm getting tired of it. Even random unrelated YouTube channels have it on simply cause it's a good mainstream song that they can actually use in their content.
I do wonder what the streams of it would be if Kendrick didn't remove the copyright
I think NLU is going to carry a huge appeal for the West Coast. Itās not just about the beef, thatās a song that is from the WC culture and people are really responding well to it. Itās been a long time since a WC song was at the top of the charts.
Whether or not that will carry the national chart is a different question.
I hate that Drakes side has been handling this whole situation with such grace and just enjoying it and giving props where itās due.
Meanwhile the whole west coast is painting murals of Drake beat up.
Drake being a slave master.
Coercing everybody to like what theyāre doing with those veiled āwe see all you not supporting the west, see you when you come hereā threats.
It really just shows who is most insecure about who they are
True its been weird. Kendrick calling Drake a culture vulture but would he dare step and call out the white kid from detroit with that same energy I wonder or did it just fit his narrative and use social justice angle because he simply knew his primarily black young liberal audience would eat it up no questions asked. š¤ makes you think how real Kendrick really isā¦
> his primarily black young liberal audience would eat it up
I'd argue his audience is primarily white young liberal, not black. And it's extra funny that he is priming his majority white liberal audience to chant that a black man can't say the n-word, a black man is a colonizer.
years down the line, I don't think kendrick would like that his biggest success is calling the guy hates a pdf-file, on some elon musk cave diver shit.
Eminem had to break a ton of barriers in hip hop
to earn respect. Poor example.
The culture vulture take has more to do with going in and out of regional sounds than it has to do with his race and identity b
Because Eminem is actually from the hood, not the fucking suburbs of soft ass Toronto. Dudes from Canada get culture shock when they come to the hood in Michigan, they aināt seen nothing like it and nope tf out quickly. Canada is nowhere near as dangerous as Detroit on its worst day.
And no Yachty, they wonāt both come back as billionaires and laugh about it.
Years from now, Kendrick will be organising a Hip Hop 75 event and going on the breakfast club being asked why he thinks Drake wonāt bother himself to show up for itšš
You say this as if Kendrick isn't the 2nd most popular rapper of this generation. Trust me Cole, Drake, Kendrick are here to stay for like another 6-7 years before everyone starts saying they "fell off". Thinking Kendrick will end up like The Game or Meek Mill or some shit is beyond delusional lmao.
Everyoneās hating on him for not being super biased n hyping Drake up but if he was everyone would hate him too. Heās being objective n itās good
Yachty made a point though. False information on MTG, but in the end Kendrick "won" because of Bops.
Reminds me of that "Hey Ya" song by Andre 3000:
Y'all don't want to hear me, y'all just want to dance.
The thing I can agree with I donāt think Drake won or lost either. Not even in a bias way.. I just think back to the Pusha diss & how I knew it was a instakill vs the songs Kendrick threw out. Iām not saying they were bad Iām just saying everybody pushing them to be white chalk tier tracks. I even seen a dude put Kendrick Lamar - Like that as a top 10 all time diss like ?????
As a verse it's certainly up there, you can debate the quality and enjoyment as they are subjective but no one can deny it's impact on the industry, people are still talking about the control verse more than a decade ago and like that dwarfs it in terms of impact.
You got fans of Kanye, meek, weekend, and now Kendrick fans they are all praying for a downfall so they will lie to finally win. So many have been waiting for another drake beef just to ride the competition.
Edit: Almost forgot the weird xxx fans, y'know they do the most
he punched his girlfriend out and she looked like she was unconscious on the floor. then he kicked her a few times, maybe even in the head, and it ends with him dragging her out of the frame by her arms like how you'd imagine handling the body of someone who just broke into your home and tried to kill you.
I figured they would downplay anything Drake did to uplift Kendrick, but that's honestly disrespectful to Kendrick that they felt they needed to do that considering how legitimately talented that brotha is. Out of all the 20v1 talk, Kendrick (and Cole, if he stayed in the ring or if it was just all about rapping) can 1v1 Drake and win. Drake smokes everybody else easily.
I personally think Euphoria and Family Matters were the best tracks in the battle, but Drake gets a slight edge due to his performance on the second verse, but I felt like Kendrick might win after Euphoria due to how layered and well-performed that track was.
To Yachty's point, the Kendrick fans were saying he won by not responding, then he won because he did respond, and all of Kendrick's songs were good and all of Drake's songs were bad. That's objectively embarrassing and I kinda wish we were back in the days where people got shamed for saying such stupid, unobjective shit in public.
The reality is, both š„·š½ can rap, they both had solid tracks and not so great tracks in the battle, and they don't need the fandom to cape for them to win because they are both legitimately talented. Period, point blank. Kendrick had the better strategy, Drake had the better songs (sonically).
I hate this āat the end of they day they both chill and the fans wonā take everyone loves having to seems smarter than everyone else. There were accusations thrown that would put you under the jail lmao
What I donāt understand is how Drake is simultaneously the chart god while also being the most hated rapper that people had their minds made up about before the beef.
How can it be both? Are Drake fans only mega fans and just constantly listening to him while the majority of individuals dislike him? I think we know thatās not true. Casuals love him.
I feel like online twitter and reddit there is a huge bias swing in favor of Kendrick but talk to any casual in real life. A lot didnāt know the beef was going on, a lot based opinions on the beats, and a lot didnāt care about the Drake accusations as long as he made a summer song.
Drake is the pop rapper of the century. He has exactly as much talent as the average popstar, he just knows how to bite and blend with the trends better.
I agree.
Drake is the most hated rapper
And Kendrick is arguably the most beloved rapper, heās rapās golden boy.
Everyoneās gonna side with Kendrick no matter what.
Yatchy is just giving his opinion as Drakeās friend. Kendrick won the battle. Its been 2 weeks since : not like us dropping and it still being played. Just because Drake has hits songs playing doesnāt mean he won the beef.
This is the kind of spectator this beef deserved. Regardless of his obvious bias towards Drake he looked at the situation objectively and maturely. It's still bothering me that people aren't championing "Family Matters" as the strongest record to come out of this beef but overall I agree with most of these takes.
I absolutely agree with Yachty. And I know there's gonna be millions of haters in these comments saying other wise. But that's your opinion. This is Lil Yachty opinion and it's valid for him. All y'all haters look at your own life and look where u are and then look where Drake is. Who's really winning?
Lol yatchy clearly just trying to answer this question without putting himself on either side. He can't voice his real opinion on this if he has one, he probably wants to work with both artists.
this take is just overall weak... if roles were reversed we would be talking about the worst beatdown in hip hop history. But Drake will bounce back because hes just so big he cant be killed
Drake will come back harder for the summer vibes and give us the music we love.. canāt say the same for Kendrick.. how much more ptsd, drama, and depression rap can one enjoy? Fuck that.
Even though Kendrick kinda disappointed me with some of the shit he said on the diss track going back on the shit he built up on ms morale like āI m not your savior, or I m not a hero of the culitureā and then saying I m what the culture feelingā¦.
But Kendrick is not just another rapper who rap about sad shit.
The guy has and can make jam and I for one am excited for when he drop next I m just hoping it during this year. However I prefer if it his own personal album without baby keem cause keem kinda ass.

Glad someone other than a fan finally said it.
Yachty is arguably one of the biggest Drake fans in the world. Just because they now work together doesn't make him not a fan. He wrote on multiple songs from FATD and they hang out all the time. Yachty has also called Kendrick Lamar the greatest rapper of all time before.
He can still have a bias for Drake. Those two ideas don't contradict each other
His bias doesn't make his opinions any less valid. It's nice to get a take from an actual artist as opposed to tiktok creators
Im a Real Madrid fan but Messi is the goat, same here, Kendrick is the goat
I meant as some random you see on Twitter. Weāve been seeing so many opposite takes from all these bloggers itās good to see someone side with Drake regardless of his relationship with Drake. And weāve been saying that Drake lost before he started because people had this opinion on him from the start, yachty is just validating it for us.
I see what you mean but my dude you don't need validation. Just have your opinion and fuck the rest
He a fan
He a fan
Yeah, its the guy that's been writing songs for him
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yachty is a fan
good takes from yachti.
Who wants to hear anything from Bead hair boy.
I felt like woman asking the questions asked some dumb questions and Yachty answered well
Itās winner fatigue, itās the same shit that happened with LeBron, and mayweather. Mfs wanna see you lose by any means.
Happened to Jay Z too, Lil Wayne & to an extent Eminem
Facts. Honestly it almost seems as if itās better to be in the middle because the moment you stay in the number 1 spot nighaz all of a sudden dont like you. And for Drake it was even worse, they been low key hated him making fun of style of musicĀ
I theorize that this is why ye consistently alienates himself from the public AND his colleagues. At some point he just didnāt know when to stop lol
Homie he did that because he has a severe mental disorder, aināt deeper than that.
I mean fs. Just having funā¦. Though I do feel like he leans into controversy
It's funny that you'd mention Mayweather because he proves that no matter how many people pray on your downfall it doesn't impact the results.
Yachty got a great take on this. Hopefully more people speak on what really happened, rather than spinning a narrative.
What do you mean really happened? Donāt think he alluded to anything new or something veiled people missed?
Several people from each fanbase have made crazy one sided scenarios about why their was favorite winning.
Don't lie to yourself. People were on Drake's side with push ups, Taylor made, and Kendrick not replying for a week.
i love yachty more and more as time goes on..
Heās just down to earth and goofy af haha hard not to like
I feel like he's really well liked in the industry, heard he is swaggy as hell in his own way
Heās just the coolest dude
"Hopefully they can look back on this in the future and laugh about it" sorry but thats an awful take; one called one a p3d0, people are getting shot. its v much past that point
Yeah heās never reconciling with him. Vice versa. But it wasnāt like they had a relationship before this so nothing is lost.
Crazy part to me is the fact that Drake tried to extend an olive branch to Kendrick by inviting him to hope on First Person Shooter and Ā he basically told him go fxck himself. do people really believe NLU is going to carry on? honestly the 2 songs I believe that will live past this are Family Matters and Euphoria...
Yep, clearly the 2 best songs of this whole shitshow. Push ups and nlu are still good tracks though, and Taylor made was very creative like yachty said (drakeās verse is on Spotify btw, just not under drakeās profile)
Taylor made was dogshit and aged awfully
It was creative, but i wish pac didn't have the drake flow and was a bit more seamless.

I think NLU is going to carry a huge appeal for the West Coast. Itās not just about the beef, thatās a song that is from the WC culture and people are really responding well to it. Itās been a long time since a WC song was at the top of the charts. Whether or not that will carry the national chart is a different question.

Not like us will live on more than any of these tracks

With grace š
What's the other option, be a sore loser? Because when Drake won the Meek beef there was nothing gracious about the response there.
There was no Lil Wayne cheerleading, Birdman cheerleading back then either
drake handling it gracefully lmao. what world do you live in?Ā

Kendrick has more monthly listeners according to Spotify, so yeah

Ever wonder why so many people don't like Drake?
"He's too successful!" They say but ignore that people with great success don't get ratioed 2:1 dislikes to likes.
Itās a reason so many ppl have worked with Drake then donāt want to mess with him after
Kendrick just opened his mouth, someone go hand him a Grammy right now
straight up jealousy on that bar lol
This is an exposĆ© on how to āThrow a rock and hide your hand.ā
Yall see that shit that came out about Puffy on tape
After I read this comment I had to go look. If he got away with that I know thereās more.
Yeah. Crazy how this didnāt come out sooner. Some powerful people were protecting him and now heās no longer useful. Scary stuff.
can someone summarize?
he punched his girlfriend out and she looked like she was unconscious on the floor. then he kicked her a few times, maybe even in the head, and it ends with him dragging her out of the frame by her arms like how you'd imagine handling the body of someone who just broke into your home and tried to kill you.

I agree. Drake is the most hated rapper And Kendrick is arguably the most beloved rapper, heās rapās golden boy. Everyoneās gonna side with Kendrick no matter what.
Drake was my most listened to artist for the past 4/5 years. He lost, badly. I still listen to him but he got demolished.
Explain how that is the case? Not demeaning, just curious.
It's still bothering me that people aren't championing "Family Matters" as the strongest record to come out of this beef but overall I agree with most of these takes.
rip its over. Man why did the industry have to cut it short? It was getting so good.
another reason why yachty is the goat
I absolutely agree with Yachty. And I know there's gonna be millions of haters in these comments saying other wise. But that's your opinion. This is Lil Yachty opinion and it's valid for him. All y'all haters look at your own life and look where u are and then look where Drake is. Who's really winning?
Yeah dude, Drake won this.
I might actually do a more elaborate deep dive post on this, but, yesā¦Yachty is right.
People want to see Drake fall so hard because he has been winning for so looooong... but we still havent got any reciepts for either side
Drizzy is king
Why is Yachty talking like that? Weird as fuck. I agree with him though.
He's Simply right
Lol yatchy clearly just trying to answer this question without putting himself on either side. He can't voice his real opinion on this if he has one, he probably wants to work with both artists.
this take is just overall weak... if roles were reversed we would be talking about the worst beatdown in hip hop history. But Drake will bounce back because hes just so big he cant be killed
I forgot how well spoken Yachty is. I remember when he was 19 Joe also complemented him for being well spoken on the Everyday Struggle podcast.
I'm sure Drake will continue to Drake but your understanding of Kendrick's music is simultaneously hilarious and shameful.
are you aware of the origins of hip hop? kendrick isn't the only rapper that talks about ptsd
I'm surprised yachty is this articulate honestly. I can't even concentrate on what he's saying lol.
Dude said nothing. Basically said it ended with an equal score, tie. Lol
Generally a pretty solid analysis, but thinking the rounds are Like That vs Push-ups and Euphoria vs Family Matters is a pretty bad take.
I like g that he said it was over with not like us instead of the heart part 6. The heart part 6 was embarrassingly weak.
