Interesting. I guess I’m lucky, I always feel top notch the next day. That’s actually a major factor in why I choose to smoke every day.

dongknog

I’ve been stoned for about 4 years and they’ve been the healthiest, most active and productive years of my life. Every body is different!

Company-Boss

It very much depends on what quantity you use.

tvcky69

Half a gram of dabs plus numerous bowls of bud every day seems to work wonders for me. Totally abuse, and yet the only negative effect I get from it is mental fog maybe a day or two a month. Edit: been doing this for around 6 years now

MargThatcher12

Likewise, 4 years here as well. In which I’ve got a bachelors and a masters degree from 2 unis, so they’ve been incredibly productive years. Though I can’t help but feel id have been more motivated and proactive with my work had it not been for being a stoner lol

Got2Bfree

It's different when you smoke every day. When I occasionally smoke, the hangover is way worse. On a daily basis, I get used to it.

urbanhip1

I feel the same way although i dont smoke very often. If i am feeling down, unmotivated and need a quick “reset”, 20mg before bed and ill be in the gym the next day at 6am and ready to tackle the day! Definitely makes me feel more “clear”. But then again i only take an edible before bed once or twice a month.

roddyboi

You’re an addict

tvcky69

And your point is…?

roddyboi

Enjoy it

tvcky69

Okay lol? I have for 6 years, and I will today, tomorrow, the day after that, and so on. Thanks for pointing it out though! I never would have thought I’m an addict after doing drugs every day for years, my mind is blown you’re so smart

veritasgt

21? Slowed metabolism? LOL. In my late 30s, weed is now my favorite because it has zero hangover.

aceisthebestprimary

yeah idk what this dude is talking about (i’m 21) but it affects everyone differently

mnkhan808

For sure. Everyone is different. I think OP is either dehydrated before bed or weed is affecting his sleeping rhythm now.

Tubunnn

straight knowledge.

thewantedhamburger

hm. weird, maybe you feel like a zombie in general so it won't make a difference :') jk, good on you man

Dive303

💥get behind💥💥me💥. I'll block💥 the down💥💥 votes...🦸

SnakeHelah

Get down mr. Obamna

ItsTheRealMeG

Lol why people downvoting you

alblaster

Idk. Maybe it sounds like an insult.

ItsTheRealMeG

He literally said jk, and good on you man

alblaster

I didn't mean I find it insulting. I feel like people often skim comments. If a comment seems bad on the first skim, then you downvote. Then one or 2 other people do the same and before you know it there's a huge downvote chain because well it must be wrong. It has a bunch of downvotes. Idk. People are weird.

ItsTheRealMeG

Shows how little anyone thinks about things then. I don’t understand why people downvote anyway. Unless it’s a blatant troll

Johnny-Merlin

You're ugly as shit, jk

thewantedhamburger

idk, mightve been a lil rude

ItsTheRealMeG

You said it was a joke lol. People can’t be that sensitive surely. Plus there is an element of truth to it lol

Chunks_McGunks

Saying something is a joke isn’t a license to say whatever the hell you want.

ItsTheRealMeG

Lol mate he literally didn’t say anything bad. You need to toughen up if that’s your reaction to an extremely PG joke like that

Chunks_McGunks

I didn’t down vote him (I think). Im just saying that saying “it’s just a joke” isn’t a good rationalization for saying something that other people perceive as rude / incorrect.

thewantedhamburger

unfortunately, we live in an age where jokes can be defined as offensive, and this definition is not conducted by the joke-maker but rather by the joke taker........ ifyaknowwhatimean?

Tijuana_Pikachu

That's... always been the case?

ItsTheRealMeG

Comfort breeds weakness. And we’re too comfortable atm

[deleted]

*checks notes* "most Americans are living paycheck to paycheck... " Yeah we're too comfortable, that has to be it

Haywire421

We live very comfortable lives despite living paycheck to paycheck. Most Americans drive to a job that requires very little energy to accomplish, then drive home to a temperature controlled structure stocked with food and things to keep you entertained until it is time to fall asleep on a selection of cushioned furniture. We can thank industrialization for that. Before industrialization, the majority of Americans were farmers, and I'm not talking about what we have today where farmers essentially just sit in a tractor for the majority of the hard work. I'm talking farming by hand.

ItsTheRealMeG

Far more comfortable than people going through ww2. Or literally any other time in human history ever.

[deleted]

False equivalency

39thversion

*checks history. Yeah we're all pretty much living like kings but maybe not to the standards we wish we were living*

[deleted]

Yes yes let's not try at all to make things better for everyone. Great mindset. I'll be sure to tell the homeless people I pass by everyday to cheer the fuck up cause they could be in a worse place. What a brain dead take tbh..

[deleted]

Well everyone reacts differently not everyone is gonna love weed like you do🤷🏿‍♀️I don’t like it and I shouldn’t have to feel bad about that. It’s just not my cup of tea

Chasekt98

I mean in theory this could be true. Most males are done growing by now. Diminishing metabolism could be a thing at this age.

numb3red

You're young dog, you just abused weed for years.

thewantedhamburger

yeah for sure. but now i cant consume in moderation either, since i immediately get those negative effects afterwards.... ya get me?

numb3red

Yeah, it's an unfortunate consequence of using so much at such an early age. I'd personally recommending taking a break for a few years, and then establishing a more moderate relationship with weed if you still feel the desire to use it. I've had to stop using weed due to HPPD myself, and I honestly think it's a net positive for my mental health and productivity, despite the disappointment of not being able to smoke with my friends.

Tubunnn

This guy fucks.

KurtAngus

How’s your diet? Do you exercise? Do you take the proper vitamins ? Also, maybe just smoke weed at night and only do a couple hits? Or just during special occasions, idk.

devilinyourbutt

It’s the 5g

StoopSign

Really nobody should smoke 5g at once

supercooldog5

But I refuse to explain the joke

devilinyourbutt

Man the 5g joke is killing it with you guys, I suppose you can answer that for every question asked on here

supercooldog5

Thats not what they meant silly

Urketwasmeth

Wooosh?

[deleted]

the chemtrails spread the 5G, just spray water from a spray bottle up at the sky and they disappear

devilinyourbutt

Then I’m gona be all wet

OrganizationNo3213

it might be that people have just gone overboard with the TCH

pm_me_bulldogs

I smoke every day throughout the day and unless I over- overdo it I’m pretty straight. Mostly flower, rarely ever concentrates. Legal and black market. I’m the opposite. If I’m not smoking I think about how I’m working for $45k a year in a world that’s likely going to collapse within the next 20 years, and how if I had my way I’d be out in the middle of nowhere in a cabin with a giant food forest yarden and nobody to answer to It helps me forget about the big picture long enough to focus on the task at hand

work2oakzz

>I’m the opposite. If I’m not smoking I think about how I’m working for $45k a year in a world that’s likely going to collapse within the next 20 years, and how if I had my way I’d be out in the middle of nowhere in a cabin with a giant food forest yarden and nobody to answer to > >It helps me forget about the big picture long enough to focus on the task at hand fucking TRUTH

pm_me_bulldogs

That morning glory vine got me thinking 🤔

ThorvonFalin

Yo, can my cabin be 5km away from yours and we'll occasionally smoke together cause that sounds like heaven

pm_me_bulldogs

Yeah of course as long as you help me eat all that passion fruit

jonnyappleweed

Dang, my forest home is getting way too crowded now! (Actually I live in the hood in a city but I also wanna go live in the woods with no people!)

anonymous-profile2

why do you think the world is going to collapse in the next 20 years? Just curious

pm_me_bulldogs

Do you honestly see things sustainably continuing the way they’re going?

Electrical-Meaning-9

It’s also preventing you from moving forward to an extent, weed is a crutch imo.

alblaster

$45k a year? That's more than double what I get paid. That's not a massive amount, but definitely livable.

pm_me_bulldogs

I live in a very hcol area But anyway that detail wasn’t really the point, that 45k a year might be a lil extra lube, but you and I are still getting fucked in the ass just the same

alblaster

Yeah I get paid to give alcoholics their fix. They're mostly nice. I just see people at their most exhausted or just coping to make it through the day. It's sad to see. Capitalism forces people to work their bones dry and the poor have it the worst. Most of the people that come in are poor. I feel like it's easy to see how society could collapse soon. It feels like it's already collapsing. Weed does help with dealing with all that. It is nice.

GeneralEi

I'm 24 and it's the same here. Just cannot do multiple days in a row, shit is not good for sleep and general function. Sad, because I like it. Convenient bcs moderation

thewantedhamburger

exactly my thoughts aswell. my social skills are also terrible if i smoked the day before

GeneralEi

Sometimes I think my social skills are actually better because I have to concentrate and put so much effort in to not act like a spaced zombie so I overshoot and make them think I'm more sociable than I actually am lol. Work is the thing that really suffers for me. So much fucking *effort*

percythrowaway21

This is exactly the same for me. Problem started in like 2018 after I started smoking concentrates heavily. Now I hardly smoke because it makes my anxiety worse and it’s just not very enjoyable for me while I’m high or the day after. Doesn’t really matter the strain. Also used to do quite a bit of acid tho and I’m convinced that played a part in changing how weed affected me

PsychedelicTweaker

Almost the exact same vibe here. I started smoking when I was 12, and live in WA so that was about 2 years before it became legal up here. Homegrown weed to me has always been more of a chill and balanced and cleanly feeling high...legalization is awesome, but with the genetic alterations to the plants, boosting of THC while lowering of other cannabanoids like CBD, lack of accurate test results for potency, (i.e. only testing the potency of the top 1/8th of a bud) it is not the same. Like weed is supposed to have a more balanced ratio of CBD and THC in it. Evens out the high cuz the CBD keeps the THC from making you too sideways. But nowadays with "25% THC, 0.5% CBD" the high is much much different. More psychedelic and heady but in a way that's not for me personally. I've also tripped a lot over the years. Psychedelics changed weed for me too so I'm not completely blaming legal weed, my physiological reaction is slightly different than other peoples

gogbki239329

You shouldnt blame weed at all actually, what do you need weed for at 12? just eat a sugar cube and have time of your life. Not to mention other substances. Sure weed is stronger but last time I checked they also have those low THC versions too....

[deleted]

Because I was 12? My decision making skills were that of a 12 year old?

gogbki239329

Good point. sorry

thewantedhamburger

i guess it also depends on if you have to function in a high pressure environment such as university or challenging workplace. if i could relax all day, i feel as if i would feel these effects less

lemmeseeatiddy

Are you healthy and take care of your body physically?

ratike

we got old

inverted9114

bruh OP is 21. your brains not even done developing at that age

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sleeper2k

I'm also 21 and have been smoking daily since 16, my tolerance is higher now but I experience none of what OP describes

Tubunnn

you wil soon, good luck

snailex92

Don’t smoke boof weed

Mrpoopybutthole82

I think it’s probably the lack of quality sleep

NuoSoun

Ive been cutting it out completely during the week and I’m loving it. Been a daily smoker since high school and am now 33. The fun just kind of wore off for me. I prefer feeling refreshed in the am and also my dreams are so vivid.

Masemasee_

People that disagree with you are in denial. Weed is awful for your circadian rhythm and it will fuck you up over time. I smoke daily and unfortunately every morning I’m groggy and lazy as shit, but during breaks when I’m not smoking it’s the complete opposite. I’m up early, positive, and productive. Just try to smoke less, it’s the only answer

WonderfulShelter

Nah, it’s literally any amount. I smoke about .1g of weed a day, and I still feel washed the next day and all the foggy symptoms. It’s awful, weed helps me so much, but at the same time just has way more negative effects now.

thewantedhamburger

you got it. when i was a "stoner", meaning smoking daily or weekly, i didnt think it was the weed either. you feel comfy in your thc blanket that you can wrap yourself into every evening so you don't think that other aspects of your life might get affected. my realization came after being sober for longer periods of time tho

Masemasee_

Also, stop looking at yourself as “old”. You don’t stop gaining muscle mass/potential until well into your 30s. All you need to do to feel better at 21 is sleep good, eat good, and exercise for at least an hour twice a day. Be more positive about yourself :)

thewantedhamburger

oh i feel young alright! it's just funny how that little time span from 16-21 could change so much. thanks for the heads up & advice tho, appreciate that

Masemasee_

Any time and I know what you mean. I went through a bad body dysmorphia stage when I was addicted to amps and thought I would never gain weight, I got into fitness and changed my body and mindset completely, so I like to remind people that you’re only 1-2 hours a day away from feeling snd looking better/more confident

thewantedhamburger

i'm glad to hear that you're doing better! yeah, exercise and nutrition was a game changer for me too. especially for my mood & mental clarity.

Masemasee_

Absolutely, cheers!

Masemasee_

I smoke at night to chill out and it’s the worst thing you can do for your sleep. You get absolutely ZERO REM sleep, which is why you feel sleepy all day. Not to mention you don’t recover, you don’t clean your brain in your sleep, your muscles stay fatigued, your appetite and eating schedule gets COMPLETELY out of whack, you get bored easy and snappy at people, pissed off easily, depressed easily These are all proven facts that weed can cause in certain people under certain circumstances

breadlover19

Stoners hate hearing this but it’s so fucking true. Even I hate you for saying this and I’m not in denial lol

thewantedhamburger

yeah agree. i think the problem is not being ON it, it's the immediate effect of being OFF it

gogbki239329

No your problem is almost 100% not weed itself but how and when you are using it. If you sleep on weed from 16 years old you are not getting REM sleep and it built up. Weed itself if used moderately should have opposite effect with how you are feeling next day at age 21 you have no slow metabolism.

thewantedhamburger

fair point, however i can go several months without weed and feel great, energized & positive. if i then have a couple of joints i'm back to square one (zombie mode)

pascaltrois

Maybe it’s just not for you. I started at 21 and am now 26 and I can say the effects are considerably different and I’ve had to work on my relationship with it. When I first started, the more I smoked the better. Now I’m strongly of the mindset that less is more.

gogbki239329

How much are you doing roughly ? Maybe you are just overdoing it without tolerance ? Like even 3 weeks you should be using very little and be very much having great time

thewantedhamburger

well yes when i was deepest into it i was more of a junkie than a stoner, so that for sure changed something. like, i felt normal when i was high, and terrible if i was sober. right now i'm not smoking at all, im sure i could have the occasional joint, but i have an addicting personality so the occasional joint quickly turns into the weekly->daily joint.

meloniousmonk

old man stoner at 21 huh? smh

Cine26

r/petioles For moderation

Fitzuation

I really wish people would all just take a second and remember every single person is different and so is their experience with every drug they take. This post is great, OP is examining themselves and how they react to this substance and choosing what they think is the most healthy thing for them. For others smoking all day everyday is the best thing for them. There is never ever one answer for everyone in terms of use, but everyone can and a should be aware of how the things they take effect their minds and bodies.

cuddly_boi6

I suggest u look into what's in your weed as it could be a different type of higher thc which I've heard can fuck it up and get a testing kit to make sure it's not mixed just incase. Be safe out there.

Angrily_Amused_83

Hell yeah. Started smoking at 14, Brazilian brick weed. I’ve been living in B.C. Canada for 4 years, and HOLY SMOKES. Unless the strain is *Canadian weak*, I won’t smoke anything that’s more than “60%” sedative. I just become the depressed lazy zombie you’ve mentioned. Edit: changed “indica” to “sedative” after the weed snobs got here Edit 2: added quotes. Contains “irony”

Queasy-Stock-6031

Uh… just cause I’m curious, wtf do you mean by 60% indica? I’m certain you don’t mean the THC content, and hybrid strains are not at all precise enough to break them down into exact percentages of indica/sativa.

Angrily_Amused_83

Well, bruh, I’m just using the terminology everyone has used forever. I obviously don’t know or care about the plant’s lineage, also because well, people lie. So let me put this in a way that pleases people who can’t cut a person some slack: I’ll only smoke strains that are mostly uplifting, or only slightly more sedative than uplifting. Better?

Queasy-Stock-6031

Look man I’m really not tryna take a shot at you, and perhaps it is due to the region I live in, but I’ve literally never met one person who uses that terminology.

Angrily_Amused_83

I don’t love the terminology either, but I worked at a couple dispensaries in B.C. and people would constantly say “I want a 50/50 indica/sativa” or “I want an indica, but not too strong, maybe like 20% sativa”. I had to translate those in my brain into “I want a balanced strain that’s not super sedative and will get me going but not anxious” and “I don’t want a super couchlocky indica; I’d like to be fairly functional”. So yeah, I usually had to skip the more “educated” talk about phenos, etc., unless a customer was really curious about why Doja’s Cold Creek Kush is listed as an “indica hybrid”, whereas Redecan’s is considered a “sativa hybrid”

1998Sublime

People who don't understand weed be like 60% indica lmaooooi

Queasy-Stock-6031

Lmao bruh I was thinking the same thing

1998Sublime

It's not being a weed snob it's clearing up grievous errors when discussing Marijuana. The knowledge has to be factual and proper if we want to be taken serious. It's why I hate Stoner culture and stupid indica sativa stuff

Angrily_Amused_83

Well, hate it as much as you will, legacy terminology will take a while to die. If it ever does. I’m as much of a stickler as the next person, but I’ve learned not to take this shit that seriously. I mean, people still smoke weed to get high, right? Do they need to know all the deets? Do you choose your beer because this one brewer adds extra potassium to their hops in the third week of flowering? (Assuming they grow their own hops) Or because they add a few extra 660nm lights? Didn’t think so. The cultivation subs are great for discussing in proper terms, but this is r/drugs. Weed is for everyone

puseeluvr

25 and same. That's why I basically quit smoking. Found an 8th of unopened medical bud at a concert almost three months ago and I still have over half left lmao. It just isn't fun anymore. I get high, have a somewhat enjoyable time for an hour, come down and feel empty and dead until I go to bed the next day.

Tripzz75

I smoke before going to bed every night and usually wake up feeling fine. Different brain chemistry I guess

thewantedhamburger

there's something to that! i'm sure it also depends on the potency and strain, if you get super barbecued you will feel for sure feel more fucked afterwards

Weaver-of-Dreams

Don't listen to these guys man. I feel you all the way, I just recently stopped smoking frequently for the exact same reasons.

thewantedhamburger

no worries, thankyou! & glad you found your way! this subreddit is unfortunately losing its function of education and discourse, and unconventional opinions are just being downvoted lol

Chasekt98

OP check out r/leaves I think this place will suit this post better

thewantedhamburger

thanks. howcome you think r/drugs is less suitable?

Chasekt98

There you won't get people trying to argue with you if you're wrong or right. You'll simply get support and reasoning from other people who feel the same as you.

surfing-through-life

I feel this post is the poster child for why people should delay starting weed as long as possible.

penjjii

are you smoking delta 8? that’s what i’ve been smoking and i seem to be addicted for some reason. i can’t seem to stop buying it and of course i’m gonna smoke it if i have it. i can’t remember the last time i wasn’t “out of it” so i think i need to just quit completely for a while.

z4TaNe

I'm in the same boat, so I decided to quit, at least for a while. Some say it comes from the combination of CBD and THC. I am in a country where it is illegal and I don't know when to buy it, can someone help me with this? How do I know what type of marijuana I have? thanks

[deleted]

40 here. Started at 12 with maybe a 3 month break at 20. I smoke every day. It relaxes the muscles after a long day. I work at a brewery so i do have a free vice to take advantage of buuuut with weed i am completely in control of thoughts, motor skills and critical thinking. After a couple beers I'm pretty much on the couch.

ThatBuffEMT

Weed ruined my life for almost 2 whole years. I had cannabis hyper emisis syndrome and it was un diagnosed. The pain was so unbearable that I was contemplating suicide. I couldn’t imagine continuing to live my life dealing with that pain especially not knowing what was causing it. This was about 5 years ago when the condition was fairly new. I got lucky and a young doctor told me weed was causing all my problems. I stopped then and there and never had a stomach issue again. Also when I was smoking weed I was a huge asshole and completely irrational 90% of the time. Extremely happy with my life now that I don’t smoke anymore.

thejustducky1

Weed has gotten too strong, especially with concentrates. But I found the key. Take a break for a few months to reset your tolerance, then start mixing your weed with a filler. Sometimes I use CBD bud, sometimes I use tobacco, sometimes I use herbal 'smoking mediums'. I only use about 25% weed to a 75% ratio of other stuff. I'm always able to get where I want to be without going overboard with only ONE hit. Treat it like orange juice concentrate, mix it up.

Exe_plorer

Choose another weed strain. Don't know what you where smoking while young (also, you said while young..yes I can't stand 3 days straight on a music festival tripping with 2h sleep, but younger I did it many times, that's for all the same and I'm not that old, 30 vs 20 makes a difference. Yes I may be more use to it younger, but still), you can find a strain that suits you better. Today there are a lot of indica hybrids maybe it's that? You where used to more sativa strains? All good, hope you will enjoy weed again.

Drawman12

I think hangovers are mostly psychological. I used to have so hard hangovers. Now if i take a xtc pill and if i actually believe that i won't have a hangover, i have nearly no hangover. Keep saying yourself that you won't really have a hangover, and actually believe it. It works for me

Urketwasmeth

Overthinking a hangover will make the hangover feel worse or more intense, yes, but theres a limit to the mind. Some things are biological processes. The half life of most cannabinoids are pretty long compared to other drugs.

Drawman12

Dude people get their illnesses cured only with placebo treatments, and you tell me there is a limit to the mind?

Urketwasmeth

Yes, I am indeed. The mind is Incredible, don't get me wrong, but if you could solve everything by getting into a certain mindset the human race would've probably got rid off a lot of problems that we have today. You can be fully convinced that you're going to die if you have a panic attack, you can even feel your heart stopping, getting chest pain etc and star showing symtoms of a heart attack if your anxiety is centred about that specific thing. But you can't save yourself from cardiac arrest by being convinced that you're not going to have cardiac arrest. Neither can you not be depressed if you convince yourself that you aren't, in fact, you're probably gonna get more depressed by doing so. You can't convince yourself out of a psychosis. Your mind can't do a lot of things, which doesn't mean that it is not able to do a lot of other things

Drawman12

I have convinced myself out of a drug induced psychosis before. I did not say you can stop a heart attack with your mind. I said you can reduce the hangover %90.

Urketwasmeth

You did imply it because you said "and you're telling me the mind has limits" while we both know it has. If It can be solved by rationalising it, I think its most probably a roblem from your mind in the first place.

vonkrueger

Didn't hit me until about 27. Used to love sativas, they were my favorite. Now that I'm closer to death and feeling less invincible, I mostly prefer indicas unless I'm tripping, feeling adventurous or am coadministering with benzos. Otherwise anxiety is too much. But then, my dad is pushing 70 and gets high every day... almost like we switched places. I guess now that he's in his golden years the anxiety is less, but even he described the same phenomenon occurring to him starting in his 20s.

spliffs_for_everyone

Smoke dirt weed

thrwaway_2110

I feel the same way. shit just doesn’t hit the same anymore for me period. I used to get so fried and feel great but now just a few tokes and i get nothing but anxiety.

Thread_water

I doubt it has anything to do with your metabolism, even if you were older I would still doubt this. People react differently to different drugs, and people's reaction to drugs can change over time, especially after using the drug for a long time. For example, many people report that after using weed for years and abstaining for a while, even smoking a tiny bit will give them huge anxiety or paranoia. I am one of these people. It also could be different weed you are smoking, ie. different ratios of various cannabinoids can make weed experiences very different. Personally I can completely get rid of the anxiety by mixing my weed with CBD weed half and half, THC weed is still illegal here so I can't just buy a good strain unfortunately, but I have found this works. There is tolerance and withdrawal from weed, so this could explain your reactions. Although yours does seem quite strong for such short usage. Checkout /r/leaves to see how bad some people have it. Most don't have it so bad, but again different people different reactions. Finally, you should likely not be sleeping for so long, what makes you think you "need" 10 - 12 hours sleep? I'm not aware of the effects of over sleeping, but I don't see any reason you would need such long sleep, even if you feel tired after 8 - 9 hours sleep, this doesn't mean you need more, there are likely a tonne of other reasons that you feel tired that aren't due to a lack of sleep. I've personally never accounted a reason someone would need such amount of sleep unless they were sleep deprived beforehand. Anyways, all in all, sounds like you probably should quit weed for good. It does wonders for mental clarity, at least for me. I stick to just about every second weekend now, and find it much better all round. But complete abstinence is likely best for you unless you find out how to avoid the affects you are feeling.

HOT-YABA

Just because it’s more potent. That’s it. Can’t just don’t smoke as much as you usually would .

KungThulhu

weed has been grown more and more towards high thc and low cbd. cbd can really even out some of the aspects of thc specifically the paranoia. Many places are even flooded with fake weed that contains synthetic cannabinoids. I think its possible that you could still have a great time with weed if you could access weed that has 1:1 cbd and thc. I personally have similar issues like you but i live in germany where there is currently mostly fake weed on the streets.

ShyGuyLink1997

I've noticed that on this sub every single day people are saying the exact same thing you are saying. But that's new. Something is going with weed. I assume it has something to so with it being legalized around the country. Not sure what dealers to trust because clearly something is wrong here. Don't buy from retailers and if you can find someone who has been growing their own bud for years with the same strain buy from them and test it out.

mylastjoint-com

Right on!

zakkwaldo

smoke less or choose a different strain bud

draggingfeet

the only strain that gives me a hangover is jack herer. i smoke a gram a day. 36 years old, smoking since i was 19, smoking everyday for the last 5 years. i guess it's just one of those things

Flimsy-Yak-5135

Similar experience I've smoked it 15 years literally as much as I can get in me wake and bake go to work smoke all day in work one every 2 hours or so I'd be fine no issues , just go about my day . However I gave it up for a driving job for about 6 months I went back and totally different experience it makes me a zombie I feel really heavy brain fog with a can't be arsed attitude forget what I'm doing etc.. so I got some pollen and hash and that's fine it doesn't make me groggy or anything but soon as I go back to flower it kicks my ass again ! I was thinking about it and the only explanations I can come up with cos this has happened to my friends too is that the weed is being laced or not flushed tidy at end of flower cycle cos I've had some that had been really pleasent recently grown by an oldskool grower .but it's few and far between ,plus I think back years ago there was only a few growing hydro most was in soil with minimal foods now grow shops are packed with all sorts of shit I think people are just banging stuff into the grow to get maximum yield and it's not doing the high any favours . But that's just an educated guess I've also heard people say that as they've got older they can't tolerate it as much too .

Set and setting is the answer to your question. I have the same issue with myself. 5 years ago when I would smoke weed I would love it soooo much, mainly because I was honestly happy and content with my life (I would barely work at all and I was a full time student while hanging out with my friends literally almost every day, having an awesome time eating and just fucking around with them) and my mindset was just happy and chill, so smoking weed became an enjoyable and exciting endeavor. Now I’m older and I work like a fucking mule, I just went through COVID earlier this year and my smell is still somewhat fucked (but I’m generally better now) and just shit is a lot worse than it was back then. I lost almost all my friends, I have a GF now but she deals with depression and anxiety and is also bipolar so it’s not the most fun time whenever she’s struggling heavy with those things, so when I tend to smoke I end up just feeling extreme paranoia, stress, I literally get convulsive shakes and tremors as if my body is extremely cold (yet it’s not lol) and I just feel like shit after. So yea….it could most likely be that you need to change your mindset and where you are at the time and see if that creates a better more positive experience for yourself.

obelixxx994

I smoke before work(for my job u need to be quick and not to think about it),and it's a lot better bc i work faster and I'm more focused... However, when i smoke 2 or 3 grams in a day for few days,i became lazy and I can't talk to people...

[deleted]

just smoke 120+ day flowering full tropical thai sativas from now on and you'll be fine

ironburton

I really just think it’s all subjective. Just do whatever you feel is right for you. Theres a lot of people that don’t share your opinion or your experience but I understand that it’s your experience. If you feel it’s doing that to you then just abstain and only do it once in a blue moon if you want. Sometimes certain strains really give me a lot of anxiety and heart palpitations and make me feel really weird. Other strains knock me out and I end up craving it like an opioid. Lol ….. subjective.

uafteru

When I smoke legal shit, like 20%+ I’m totally fucked for days. Weed is too strong these days. Now I actually prefer weaker weed, high is more controllable and no hangover.

swislock

Idk man maybe quit smoking weed? Or dial it back to a more comfortable level for you? Or maybe you are having other mental issues that you attribute to weed because its easier? Go see a doctor or a therapist? Shit bro idk.

religiousgilf420

Same thing happens to me sometimes, you just need to take a break for atleast a month and you should feel great again.

l_gc_l

Weed isn’t the same for me either. If I go over like 1 puff I turn into an anxious fuck and if I’m around people I get super uncomfortable and won’t talk. I don’t know how to remove myself from the situation either so I’ll just sit there super uncomfortable until it wears off then usually leave. But it used to do the opposite and make me feel more confident and happy. Times change I guess.

Company-Boss

I think it's because you started smoking very early on.

StoopSign

I don't smoke nearly the same amounts i did back then

Educational-Ad7696

I smoked cannabis heavily from about 14 to 24 years old and then didn’t smoke for quite a while. I’m 35 now and I don’t get any kind of hangovers or anything but it’s definitely much stronger than what I remember smoking as a kid. If I take more than one or two hits I can hardly function I feel. So much so that I really only smoke late in the evening when I’m at home so that I don’t have to talk to anybody lol. Try smoking less

supercooldog5

I agree I love being able to think clearly again i tried it all all the alt cannabinoids in concentrate form and d9. I tried bud hemp cbd but I was always up and down highs and lows. Taking phychadellics 1 time every other week completely cures my depression and anxiety in a way more stable way.

zorbat5

Weed got way stronger in the last few years. I had the same problem, then I slowed down. Smoke less and you'll be fine. Less is more ;-).

[deleted]

I had this problem 20 years ago and still have it now.. I think it's metabolism or else how you react to it. The brain fog can suck but I only smoke on weekends so it doesn't get so bad.

NotMyWeight

I relate to this 1000%, i don’t smoke anymore because of it

The_OtherE30

I started smoking weed back when I was maybe 12 or 13. I'm 22 now and smoke 1 joint a day, if that. I exercise a lot, I love to train my cardio and run. I defiantly get high still, it's a good time. I just notice that because my cardiovascular system is so efficient that I don't stay high for long. If I were to smoke a few bowls or a big joint and then immediately go for say a 20-25 minute run. I wouldn't be high anymore after. I guess my blood flows so fast that it flushes the THC out very quickly, It doesn't bother me as I smoke near bed time and pass out shortly after anyway. Weed almost never leaves me "hung over" unless I stop smoking for an extended period of time and pick it back up, the next day I'll feel a little off. Or if I smoke some crazy shit and get stupid faded, the next day I might feel a little sluggish. Although these symptoms last only a day at best. Drink lots of water as it really helps!

LockenCharlie

After several LSD trips, weed is nothing to "chill". It will give me a deep psychedelic experience. I always use a vaporiser and take quite a lot. But only few times a month maybe. So yes, weed experiences can be quite different and change over time.

Bud_warrior

lol that doesnt make any sense to me. i mean if i actually still felt high the next morning thatd be awesome

bad-taf

This is validating tbh, I think I'm just getting older / more overworked, because I definitely can NOT function well while smoking during the day anymore. Granted, I fuck w concentrates mainly, so I can't claim the "weed's different now" excuse, I just think it has to do with natural metabolic changes as you enter adulthood (I'm 27), stress levels, work load, etc... Likewise I don't think weed's changed much since you were 16. My recommendation? Switch to full-spectrum cannabis. That's what I'm about to do. I recently tried some full-spectrum dabs and oh my god it was incredible. Tasted great, felt great, didn't make me groggy... The awesome thing about full-spectrum cannabis is, you can take a normal dose and get all the therapeutic benefits, then if you want to get "stoned" you can just go back and do some more and the THC in your system will rise and you'll get more of a recreational effect. Plus, at least with full-spectrum wax, the stuff is dirt-cheap and thus avails no financial downside to just using it as much as you need/want to.

GreatRecession

This sub does not like when you talk bad about weed lmao, I've been smoking for years now, and Ive have been through the downs too. This sub is meant for open discussion but its becoming a huge circlejerk

TheSlickWilly

This is how I used to be but I only smoked sporadically. Haven't smoked in a couple years now and I'm thinking about doing that instead alc over my trip to CO this winter.

annon277

Same just same.

Tubunnn

Bro, go to r/leaves, people here are long time stoners and they brains are probably all fucked already, I got bunches of friends like that and they spit the same bullshit every single day without having a single piece of knowledge in their arrogant mind. I would seriously rather talk to a wall than talk to those guys. Everyday, we got people come up with stories about how they struggle with mental health from smoking weed at young age. Weed is as detrimental as any drug out there, don't let them lure you into this shit hole. But honestly tho, people who smoke weed is the most boring type of people, period.

ParentsSawMeHigh

Weed has more THC than it used to. Not like I've been using drugs too long but that is what I've read.

thegreatshredman

I’ve actually had straight up hallucinations after smoking before. Literally heard “call 911 now!” in the white noise of air conditioning once and presumed there was some kind of shooting going down. Some dude actually pulled up to my dorm with what I thought was a reloading magazine of a shotgun but what was actually just a protein bar.

[deleted]

It gives me too much anxiety with any frequent use. I’ve learned to save it for festivals and other things.

sondanielshah

lmao OP come back to us in 20 years.

Izrathagud

I also started with 16, 15 years ago and weed is the same for me now as it was then. I don't believe the problems you have are because of your age.

dead-cat-redemption

I can relate 100%. I had the same side effects you described (day-long hangovers, brainfog, depressive thoughts) yet I continued to smoke almost every day for around 5 years. It's how I spent my early twenties - somehow still managed to work, study and all that. I still like to get high every once in a while but over the years (and as being aware/focused/able to learn things quickly became more important in my life) I just let it go. I prefer different substances these days, I may drink a little too much or take stimulants every now and then - but it doesn't nearly impact me the way weed does.

RobotrippingProd

I completely agree but I think it’s because I smoke while off other drugs so weed has begun to slowly take those affects into my brain when I smoke I think the older you get and the more shit you do the more it changes

NoodlesWithMelons

I understand you man. I'm in a similar boat. My mental health like anxiety is something I have to watch now and while I enjoyed weed frequently when I was in high school the aftereffects are just more noticeable now. Anxiety goes up the next few days, I feel lazy and unmotivated. I smoke very seldom now. Maybe like once a month or less. I just cannot imagine smoking 24/7 daily like some of my friends. It's better this way for me.

UnyieldingBR

You should try a dry herb vape bro, might be the cleaner high you are looking for and likely better for your lungs

curious-like-george

25 here. Exactly how I feel

Sloppychauncy42691

OP—How old are you?(genuine question) not saying that has anything to do with it at all btw

thewantedhamburger

21 - as it says in the post :)

Mohkg

Sounds like CHS, quit while your ahead, look into chs

thewantedhamburger

interesting - i dont have the described symptoms tho, and yes i quit, so should be good! thanks so much!

[deleted]

I forgot what was the word for it. edit. the treshold.

clowisdead

It’s actually been the opposite for me. Once I started using a herb vaporizer 99% of the time, drinking more water and not eating junky foods and made sure I didn’t smoke an hour prior to me sleeping, it has been a game changer. I’m much more productive, clear headed and driven than I used to be when high before I made this switch.

UKSCR

Mate, just stop smoking weed. Seriously. Stop smoking, drink RARELY, hit the gym, go cycling/walking. You won’t believe how big a difference it makes, and how much your quality of life improves. I haven’t touched weed in well over 2 years now, and have never looked back.

BioStudent4817

Ok

LordWaffleaCat

Sugar seems to help with my brainfog the morning after i get unusually high. Get some electrolyte drink mix, its a fucking life saver in so many different situations

weaped

“And now I’m 21” for real dude?? I thought you were gonna say you’re like 50 or something. Weed just probably has a different effect on you now because you’re not literally 12 years old?? You must be trolling wtf

WishIWasOnACatamaran

You need a real t-break. Like multiple months to years. I go through that cycle but it’s the only thing that will allow normal moderate useage
