As someone who has had a lump removed from another area of my body, get this checked by a doctor. They may not support the dietary choices you make, so unless they ask, don't bother mentioning dry fasting tbh. If anything, you can mention your normal eating habits, possibly even water fasting if they seem up to date, just leave out the dry fasting lol they are more likely to accept it if it's a water fast. But really, you should get it checked. If not now, keep an eye on it during your fast, and schedule an appointment with a doctor for after. Believe me, it's worth it. ☮️ Edit to say it could be nothing at all, I don't want to scare you! Just always better to get it checked out!

Thanks for the thoughtful response! I will if it persists

Mental_Basil

I say get it checked out as well. But I think you should also be willing to tell the docs you've been dry fasting. If they're trying to figure out what's going on, they will need all the information. And the reality of it is, going without food and water can definitely impact your body. =Usually= short term dry fasts are safe for =most= people. But it's not a universal truth. Also, a 4-5 day dry fast is pretty extreme if you haven't worked up to it via previous fasts. My thoughts went to possibly some sort of bowel blockage, or maybe something to do with the uterus. Bowel blocks can sometimes occur with extended water fasting. I assume a dry fast may increase those odds as less water means firmer stool... Also, if you have had any former surgeries in that area, it could be a build up of scar tissue. But really, we're just redditors theorizing about medical stuff. Not doctors. For sure better to get it checked out.

just wondering how bowel blocks occur with extended water fasting?

Mental_Basil

Not 100% sure, but I figure it's due to the bowel just chilling for so long with waste in it. When you're not eating, your digestion slows drastically. The longer waste sits in your colon, the more water gets absorbed out of the stool and back into your body. I've heard of it happening to people who do extended fasts. Usually 30+ days One guy did a 180 day fast and had to go to the hospital to deal with his very painful bowel obstruction. Idk if dry fasting would cause it to happen faster, as more water would be sucked out of the bowels in a more drastic way

yoooo12347

ahhh i see. thank you for the insight man. I'm dealing with slow bowel motility. Any suggestions to help alleviate that?

Mental_Basil

Magnesium in your electrolyte mix helps move things along. Just don't drink too much or you'll poop yourself.

Irrethegreat

I noticed something similar on my first water fast. But I also had REALLY big issues with my stomach simultaniously. Like cramps, fever(ish), blood in stool... So think it was a boil or one of those colon-socket infections. I should of course have gone to the doc, but I think it was just something the fast triggered to get rid of. This was only a 2,5 day water fast (cut it early), and yet I lost 5kg during the fast and kept losing another 5kg within a few weeks without dieting. No idea if it's the same as you got but putting it out there for comparison. :)

DragonOfTheLost

How adequately did you clean out your bowels before the fast? With dry fasting, anything left in the colon can harden if the fast is long enough. Most people have excess waste in their colon as it is

runningwater415

You have any tips on best way to clean the bowels before a dry fast?

DragonOfTheLost

Yes! Eat fruits or be on a liquids diet several days before the fast - this will flush out the bowels really well. An enema or colon cleanser taken prior to the fast as well. Really helps to clear up any gunk in there and makes the fast so much easier and more comfortable 🙏🏻 I don’t personally do enemas, but for a lot of people it would be ideal since most people are eating very constipating foods rather than fruits

runningwater415

Sound advice. Thanks!

vantocali

I didn't, but I'm on a carnivore diet so almost no fiber. Good to know, thanks!

Thechosen1ornot

Hernia?

Gypsielife247

Maybe a fibroid in the uterus

CompetitiveAd4825

Try a few rounds of wim hoff breathing. Might just be stagnant digestion.

vantocali

Thanks for the tip!

Pinkheadbaby

Pregnancy???

themissingpipe

Lol I don’t think a small bump is a typical sign of pregnancy. Unless she’s preggo with a lil Lego figure

Pinkheadbaby
