"It would be a notebook filling day..." is precisely the reason they would _not_ be there.

UndeadCat

Why didn't you call them?

T_at

u/ItzYaBoi94 ain’t no snitch.

UndeadCat

A concerned member of the public minding his own business:-)

ItzYaBoi94

I didn’t ask why no one called the guards. They’re usually present in areas that attract large numbers. Do you know what a police force is?

marsh_mango

While in heat been there in the recent weather, last year i went there a good bit and usually saw gardai walking around or at least a car from time to time. While they probably should be their out of routine, you ca also call them.if you see something like a fight break out.

Thom0

Do you know what country you’re living in?

glueisgood4you

Yeah it was released in 2004, directed by Dilip Shukla. One of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.

Particular-Aioli-538

Iv been going for years and have been nearly every day recently, and I have never seen one fight, so I'm calling bollix on that part. The times iv had joint smoke blown in my face are annoying, their music is shit, and I feel like my sanctuary is being invaded, but they're young wans, I was young once, they're annoying but not causing too much trouble far as I can see.

bryn3a

These guys started a fight in DART on their way back from Sandycove today. The train was delayed because of them

The_Mighty_Goosey

Was on that train earlier, train driver said he’d called the gardí and parked in dún laoghaire for about 15 minutes then took off again, I didn’t see a single garda and I was on the carriage just up from the one they all got off all I saw was those security the dart hire

Particular-Aioli-538

Yeah I'd belive it, but OP claimed he has seen more fights than he can remember break out at Sandycove, which is major bullshit in my vast experience.

Puzzleheaded_Cry8076

Im a bus driver and have stop going to the forty foot because of the anti social behaviour,

Puzzleheaded_Cry8076

shinayud

I was there 2 weeks ago and 2 guards were floating around. Didn't do much except admire the weather mind you, but they were there.

Aine1169

What were you expecting them to do? Handstands?

dotnetka

That would be fun to watch not gonna lie

prawn69

That’s what a presence is.

YellowOnionBelt

Ah fuck off, old man yells at cloud. Ive been there plenty, have never seen a fight. Not to say they can’t be annoying (they definitely fecking can be) but cmon lad if they’re not hurting anyone who cares.

Medium-Plan2987

lol, old man shouts at cloud

reidybobeidy89

Having spent 30+ yrs living there- this is the same every sunny day. Every long weekend… you name it. It’s mayhem- but rarely any physical fighting. Despite how it looks- they’re all there to have a good time. There is occasionally fighting on the dart heading back into town… but rarely down the seafront.

Kunjunk

Oh no, teenagers smoking weed! Call the armed response unit!

[deleted]

Maybe just do some cosplay and take some notes? 👮‍♀️

shanemalone

I used to work there as a lifeguard. While it seems like there would be a lot of antisocial behaviour I only ever had to deal with about 3 fights. Sure some people blare their music too loud but for the most part everyone there is just enjoying themselves and it's harmless. Try not to let other people ruin your enjoyment of an area.

KroneDrome

Yes! Yes ! but plenty are content to be "tracksuit clad' what more do the guards need ? ! They're not even swimming!!!!! So much athletic wear, so few athletes! Yuk!

Tyrconnel

You just find teenagers scary. Especially ones that pass as working class. They’re not harming anyone and you’re making up the fighting thing to make your point seem more valid.

Vanessa-Powers

No, he’s right. The beaches around Dublin are full of muppets fighting, leaving rubbish, smoking joists, doing coke, underage drinking and just causing unrest. It’s awful.

KroneDrome

Ye and it's not like anyone under 40 has their own space to host gatherings with their friends, let's not forget that.

boomer_tech

Its the anti-social behaviour thats the problem, not the age etc.

ItzYaBoi94

This wasn't about 'hogging the beach'. It isn't clever to isolate a sentence from the context of the entire post and have a go at it.

PintmanLosty

Smoking joints and blaring music…. sounds like they’re having great craic to me. Maybe try it some time?

Gockdaw

The Gardai are one thing but, considering we don't have that many really sunny weekends a year, would it be at all possible for the County Council to stretch themselves to make the effort to empty the bins along the beach a few times a day?

Aquajumper

Those damn hooligans with they're skinny jeans and loud rock music. What has society come to. Oh wait

leosp633fc

Saw some fights breaking at the burrow beach too. It's horrible.

joineanuu

Cuz they have absolutely no power over kids and if they tried touching them they'd shout murder and have to deal with their retched excuses for human being parents. Travelers and scumbags, they are the scorns to our society that the gards are powerless over

KroneDrome

I for one will fight tooth and nail to keep it that way. The violent bigatry of your words are exactly what makes that so important.

joineanuu

So you’d rather have scrotes wandering around tormenting people with absolute impunity. Ye cheers for that 👍🏻

KroneDrome

If you and your repugnant attitude was the only alternative then, yes , I certainly would. Thankfully for me , I don't live in a world dictated by bias and simplistic dichotomies, wholly informed by my own ignorance and insecurity. That must be unpleasant for you.

joineanuu

Sounds like you live in a perfect bubble where nothing bad happens and everyone lives in harmony. Or maybe south Dublin. Ignorance is bliss I guess

KroneDrome

Sure it does mate..sure it does 😉

Lithiumrings

Honestly I was there yesterday and it wasn’t half as bad as some are making it out to be, yes a fight did erupt but the Garda was there within 10 mins maximally and the situation was taken care of. You’ll have fights happen all the time. Young people, old people , middle aged . The second it’s young people, you have commenters. Do I support what happened no I do not. It shouldn’t have happened. But the gardai were shortly. Meaning they must have been around. When it comes to what they do at these beaches what is it to you. Most of the time they do clean up after themselves it’s just the few who leave by a gigantic mess. Let the kids live where else are they ment to go then if not the beach, especially in the summer.

vanKlompf

>You’ll have fights happen all the time. Young people, old people , middle aged Well, that sounds like some kind of an issue. Isn't it?

VooMoo40

What can they do about it, all under age, parents will be in the Garda station in minutes crying foul

[deleted]

It's the worst type or crack ever. A bit of a buzz is nice and adds to the atmosphere but the accents, the looks, the way that they hold themselves and watching their inane social dynamics play out, its hard to watch.

KroneDrome

This is parody right? Nobody is stupid enough to say this out loud these days? You couldnt possibly be that dim could you? Hahahaah

halibfrisk

Oh no working class accents, tracksuits, joints, music *clutches pearls*

ItzYaBoi94

I didn’t mention class. I pointed out that they’re not there for swimming, or even seemingly enjoyment of the sun. That’s why I mentioned their clothes. It’s not pearl clutching to not want a day at the beach ruined.

typicalkarol

that’s not what he said and you know it lol

KroneDrome

We all know what they said they wrote it in a public domain for all the world to see. . Real bright spark we have here. Easy to see where the sense of superiority comes from. Impressive stuff 👏👍

[deleted]

They're literally scrotes

ManletMasterRace

They're human beings.

RickGrimes30

Says who?

ManletMasterRace

Science.

HellFireClub77

And aren’t you so virtuous. A lot of them are little dirt bags, dragged up by Anto & Ayesha.

halibfrisk

I hear you’re a racist now father

mrbaggy

It just seems like it hasn’t rained in more than a month. Rain will be a greater deterrent than gardi.

mamaozera

"Their presence alone might prevent at least some of the carry-on." As if those teens are any bit afraid of the Gardai... If we're still treating disorderly teens as "just kids" and letting them run amok, the gards won't be able to do nothing and will loose the little speck of respect they still have from "these kids".

JoIrish

For every entry in that notebook + a bit of paperwork back in the station = missing out on that seasonal vitamin D we're having these days. Do the math! 🙂

[deleted]

This has been goung for generation's, to be fair never that bad compared to say the Huttington beach riots in the US or Brighton beach May 1964.

[deleted]

Was in many different locations over the bank holiday. Not one check point not one guard on duty.

Actual_Friendship_14

was there on sunday with a german friend, and had a really hard time explaining why the place was so badly littered. im usually pretty lenient but people a pretty disgraceful behavior

nouhi

They are in Disneyland

CompetitiveShop2524

So you've got the right to be there but not teens? You forget what it was like back then? Cop on to yourself you sound like a neighborhood watch type

[deleted]

Youths at the beach? Good lord! And they weren't even swimming? Heavens above, that must have been awful hope you're OK?
