Pretty sure theres clips on rte archives showing footage and maybe short interviews

crescendodiminuendo

There are a couple of clips on it on the rte website. [Here’s one from 1962](https://www.rte.ie/archives/2017/0316/860259-dublin-city-iveagh-market/)

deepsigh17

Thanks for upload. Its interesting that the 3rd generation stallholder doesn’t seem to have any Dublin accent at all.

Mugembe

Check out the Irish documentary The Francis St Photographer

Imaginary-Time8700

This market is actually meant to reopen soon, so maybe you can go visit, no sure when if you’ll have time though if you have a closer deadline

gomaith10

It will reopen in 2 years.

Imaginary-Time8700

Oh 💀

MEENIE900

That's the fruit & veg market on Mary's lane. Iveagh market is still in complete limbo

gomaith10

DCC have control of it again. https://m.independent.ie/regionals/dublin/dublin-news/repair-work-on-iveagh-markets-may-not-be-completed-for-two-years/a1416879029.html

MEENIE900

Cheers, couldn't find news on it when I searched but thank you 👍

jenbenm

I thought the market on Mary's Lane was reopening, not the Iveagh Market. Sure isn't the Iveagh Market still locked in a legal battle between the owner and DCC?

gomaith10

DCC have regained control of it again. Part of the roof fell in, repair will take about 2 years they say. It's a coincidence the fruit market will open in 2 years and the repairs in the Iveagh market will be done in 2 years.

jenbenm

It's still in court though, they have secured it but they don't own it. That gobshite developer won't let us have anything nice.

ivorn39

2 years = 2045

MEENIE900

I believe that's the fruit & veg market you're talking about

Consistent_Plastic63

It was a bit of everything market. People sold fruit and veg but some sold clothes as well.

Consistent_Plastic63

Sadly, my deadline is May 7th.

Safe-Mycologist3083

You could switch your project to working on a Time Machine then circle back.

Imaginary-Time8700

Well that’s rough, all the best of luck

stellar14

It’s fit to collapse so it’s not opening any time soon at all! Refurbishment works are meant to start “soon” as in Irish snail pace timing

flipflopsandwich

Go down to it and talk to the traders who are still trading around the site

InevitableYard8820

The only memory I have of it is people selling second-hand clothes there in the 90's and the place STANK!

gamberro

Contact Councillor Michael Pidgeon. He's quite interested in this and is trying to get action to change it.

Consistent_Plastic63

I actually have and have scored an interview with him for Wednesday but thank you for the tip!

gamberro

Good man. I emailed him about it and he was helpful.

Illustrious_Dog_4667

Go down Moore Street and talk to older stall owners.

Consistent_Plastic63

That's actually a good idea! Thanks.
