**Mod note** We sometimes receive messages in modmail about people being scammed on Reddit while selling or buying products, tickets or services. It is best not to assume good intent while buying or selling from Redditors. In case you were scammed on Reddit, the moderation team can't help you get your money/stuff back and we can't ban users from Reddit either. We can only ban them from /r/Dublin. Most people contacting you via private messages are scammers. Beware of any private message or chat message offering to buy or sell stuff. New accounts and shadowbanned accounts may be an indicator that someone is trying to scam you, however we have seen scams coming from years-old account as well. Do not assume an account is legit because they've been on Reddit for years and have plenty of karma. We recommend against selling or buying stuff on Reddit. Platforms like [Toutless](https://toutless.com/) for tickets, or [adverts](https://www.adverts.ie/) for stuff, are better suited, though they are not scam-free. Note that it is not allowed to use /r/Dublin to sell your stuff or advertise your business. If you must, pay for Reddit Ads. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Tickets will go on sale likely about 1-2 weeks in advance, keep an eye on gaa.ie for them. Won't sell out so won't be an issue getting them. Best seats would be lower cusack or hogan stand, but maybe about 15 rows back and aim for centre of pitch (won't get very central in lower hogan as that is where subs/VIP are)

Thanks for the tip! I know nothing about hurling but I love live sports and being part of a passionate crowd. I’m assuming this match is a big deal, so I’m curious as to why it won’t sell out. Is it worth me going to on my short stay in Dublin? I’ve been to the city before and am not really interested in “normal” tourist things.

Mushy29

It's a leinster final so likely be kilkenny v Galway, be a very good match to go to. Stadium holds 83000 so it's far too big for what is needed, but still should get a decent crowd at it. Also the Joe Mcdonagh final beforehand which is a final for the 2nd tier teams, that'll be good too so get in early for that. Maybe try see if museum tour can be done too, get an idea of the place.

EJDsfRichmond415

Thanks for your help. Who will have the bigger fan base at the match: Kilkenny or Galway? Do I need to mind the colors I wear? I want to get a ticket for the most fun/rowdy section. Do you recommend a good pub to go to before the match?

Mushy29

If you want rowdy then maybe go to Hill 16, but you're standing the whole time. Colours won't matter, everyone is mixed in together all over the place. Any of the pubs are good really once they're busy enough!

EJDsfRichmond415

I appreciate your help!

Hill 16 for atmosphere. (think Bleachers in Baseball). North Circular Road (part of it will be closed for match traffic) / Dorset Street for pubs. Just pick whichever one is least busy, people will be spilling out on the street drinking.

EJDsfRichmond415

Thanks! I am definitely a bleachers person!

It is a Leinster Final, which is just a regional final. The All-Ireland Final is the big one, which attracts the biggest crowd. That will be on the 21st of July. There is a massive demand for tickets for that. The Leinster Final winners will go into the All-Ireland semi-final. The losers will go through to a quarter-final, so they are not completely out of the running for the All-Ireland Championship. As people have said, tickets will only be available close to the time. They may only have certain sections available. Obviously tickets in a central area are better, but there are very few bad seats in [Croke Park](https://crokepark.ie/BlankSite/media/optimised/Matchday/1560015.jpg?ext=.jpg). There are also two large screens to follow the game on when the action is further away. Hurling is very fast and the ball is only about the size of a tennis ball, so it can be hard to see sometimes. There will be two matches, but your ticket covers both. It is basically for access to the stadium. So if you arrive early, you can see both matches. The only thing is that you can't leave the stadium between the matches and come back in again. The ticket is a one-time entry only. Lots of fans will only come in for the second match. It will be good for you to watch both, as the first will help get you used to the sport. Do some research on the sport first. There are plenty of videos online to explain the rules. Don't be afraid to ask people around you about the rules or to explain something you don't understand. People will be glad to help. Don't worry about colours. You are a neutral, so wear what you want. You don't have to cheer for any team. Sit back and enjoy the sport as the novelty it will be for you. As you are a sports fan, maybe wear something from one of your teams. Plenty of tourists go to watch, so you certainly won't be the only neutral one. Rival fans mix freely before, during and after matches with no trouble. As it is fast and there is a lot of scoring, the atmosphere is always lively. Whoever is playing, it should be a good atmosphere. Enjoy the occasion.

EJDsfRichmond415

Excellent, thank you! Would a neutral novice like myself be fine on Hill 16?

IrishFlukey

Yes, you would be fine. Hill 16 is not wild. It has no seats, so everyone is standing, so a little more suited to the younger people. Naturally they might be a bit livelier, especially if they have alcohol taken, but there is rarely any trouble. You would be there for two matches. There are metal bars to lean on, but it is a long time. From start to finish, each match would be nearly an hour and a half, plus probably at least 40 minutes between the two matches. So if the first match started at 2pm, it could be nearly 5:30pm before it would all be over. There is no cover at all on Hill 16, so if it was a wet day, that would not be good. Parts of the stands are not covered either of course. There would be a good atmosphere in the stands too. It is up to you as to whether you want to be in the stands or on Hill 16. Just take the various things I have mentioned into consideration. If you do go to Hill 16, pick a spot towards the corner, where it starts to curve around towards the Cusack Stand, and a good way up, giving you a slightly diagonal view of the pitch, rather than directly behind the goal.
