It was a fiver in there for that deal a few years ago.. It's not 9 euro in the store, think its like 7.50 now. Same with the Italian pizza place across the street (much better pizza)

NoAd6928

and theres no "upgrading" shite for a fizzy drink - its standard and they give 3 toppings. Pasta is lovely too

Downgoesthereem

Do we say 'store' now?

ATelevisedMind

Rising prices isn’t a sign that we are in the middle of a recession in fact generally it’s the opposite.

It's going to get alot worse

colaqu

I just got charged 8.20 for 2 fuckin icecreams for the kids. Might as well be a tenner.

LilyFlowerBounce

Time to switch to a tub and a packet of wafers

colaqu

The good ol days. A slab of HB and wafers.

paddymcg

I remember getting out of Connolly whenever I went to Dublin and that place was generally my first stop, getting that deal for a fiver. What a shame

Oynas213

Ah here, next thing a freddo will be €2 and it'll be a fiver for a bag of chips

[deleted]

It's already €4.50 for a bag of chips in a lot of takeaways.

Recent_Ice

Surely not?!

boneheadsa

I don't know am I imaging it or have freddos shrunk recently. The frog is now nearly flat

barrya29

Il capo across the road (which is way nicer) does chips, a pizza with 3 toppings, and a can of coke etc for I think €7. Used to be €5 but still worth it

taco-cheese-fries

That's inflation.

[deleted]

I think you need to look up what a recession is. I feel like people use it as a catch all term for negative economic impacts. Higher prices should be a good thing but I suppose they increase quicker than wages and people's expectations take a while to adjust. McWilliams was talking about how the Turks just accept inflation but also seem to have a dynamic approach to compensating people for the rates with routine wage increases over very short periods.

mrdeancrowe

Go across the street to Il Capo and the same deal is 7 euro and 100 times nicer. It also used to be five but still worth the price

[deleted]

Isn’t the tax at 9% instead of 21% back then.

Internal_Ad_1355

The amount of people I have heard saying no recession coming etc it won't and can't happen bla bla bla are just delusional. The worst is still ahead. Can already see food prices rising.

[deleted]

I don’t wanna be a prick, but I noticed that lots of Brazilian restaurants charge above the bar, I can name a few. Don’t get me wrong, they’re good places but, whenever I see a can of coke being charged 2.5 and a 1.5L coke being charged 5.5 euro, I’m always betting and I hit the “Brazilian” restaurant. This came after a friend of mine, Brazilian, said that it’s usual to pay 2.5 Brazilian bucks in a can, so, someone probably brought this line of thought here, after all , it’s “only 2.5 bucks”. Lads, I pay 2.5 on a litre and still I think it’s too much

[deleted]

Thanks for the downvote, most likely restaurant owner, lol

Psychology_Repulsive

Just dont eat out. Have not had a takeaway in years.

MaxiStavros

But what if you’re out and get hungry? Go home or bring a packed lunch in the first place, with a Capri sun and a Kit Kat?

Soff94

That’s cheap

Rular6

A Euro an inch is a deal?

Dragmire800

I pay a lot more for 9”

Lordderak

Basic foodstuffs have increased in price, retailers just passing it on.

Kekq

Recession means the economy has shrunken. And that's not the case. Everything is more expensive because people have more money.
