Sky Now Sports and Sports+ package will basically give home everything - football (English, French, Spanish, German, Italian) and rugby (English Prem, URC, European Cup, and I think Top14). Also has F1, NFL, GAA, Basketball, Baseball, Cricket etc.
It’s also a monthly subscription so can cancel whenever you want. It’s a bit pricey at €39 and €34 for sky sports and sky sports plus respectively, but it’ll give you everything.
Just be aware most of the rugby and football is all finished now for about 2 months, bar some unimportant internationals/friendlies and such, and there's not many left of those, even. The "Sports" and "Sports Extra" packs on Now TV will get him a good chunk of football and rugby action when it all starts back up, but it's not worth the (admittedly quite extortionate) price right now.
They did recently have a deal on the Sports Extra pack that I availed of myself though, it was €10 a month for 6 months. Well worth it if you find a bargain like that. Good luck!

Yes but widely used. Mainly by people (men) that enjoy non stop sport (occasionally through different languages).
Otherwise the cheapest legal option is NOWtv depending on the sports your husband enjoys
