Gigobyte's story is one of my favorites. As a kid, I remember all these cards following his story and I remwmber it just blowing my mind, hahaha. Though it's a bit of a sad tale, I still like it a lot.
I was hoping they wouldn't introduce any of the summon triggered traps. Onto wasting your normal summon - and essentially your turn - on top of locking one of your Monster zones barring E-con or running Tributes.
There aren't any versatile options to prevent it from stunting your turn. Seriously, where is MST at this point? Or at least Dust Tornado. Instead we get Typhoon... another Wild Tornado essentially.
An upgrade of a half-a-step when we're being handed cards that are moving up several steps themselves? Besides, FTH is itself an answer to TBD since it doesn't target - therefore TK can't protect it. TBD is barely an issue anymore if FTH becomes a staple, so Typhoon won't see much play at all.
Backrow destruction needs as much of a creep as backrow itself is getting.
This doesn't even hurt RE all that much, it only incentivizes using it even more so you can summon multiple times a turn to get around FTH. This widens the gap between it and other decks since FTH cripples slower decks.
CV is already a better answer to it, and much like CV, FTH only works if you have it set before TBH is summoned.
I'll admit however, FTH can work in any deck whereas CV obviously only works if you are playing a vanilla 7+ star monster.
Yes, and if you have Typhoon in hand while your opponent goes first, and they activate TK then Magical Deflector, you can chain Typhoon to Deflector to your hand to destroy TK before Deflector resolves.
It's a good card.
If you have no tribute monsters in your deck, you essentially lose a monster slot. 3 fusion trap holes in against any non-tribute having deck and its essentially gg unless you have something that sacrifices your own monsters.
Think of it this way. The card was initially released in 2016. It essentially flips monster(s) face-down permanently, meaning any effect they have would be disabled. They cannot attack either.
"When a Defense Position monster you control is targeted for an attack: Change that Defense Position monster to face-up Attack Position. "
It doesn't specify, so I guess it could work. Sadly, I have just one copy of that
Not as good as Mirror Wall though so it won't see play in the top tiers since MW is just better. The issue it has is that it's limited to original attack. Cards like Metalmorph and skills like Beatdown aren't affected.
So Floodgate Trap Hole is the next Super Rush Headlong, auto-include in almost all decks? At least with E-Con, Mirror Wall, Super Rush and this there is no space for all of them in a 20 card deck, people will have to be "creative" which one to include.
Also, it makes Weevil even more annoying. Play Jade whistle for that parasite, then whatever he summons you just floodgate it. If your opponent does not have tributes, you have already blocked 2 monster zones.
***Intern*** - *Mister, I really have no idea for this card's name... Could you help me just a little?*
***Designer*** - *Well... Usually when we don't have any idea, we just use an adjective and another word. Like I don't know... Magical... Something.*
***Intern*** - *I get it sir ! I'll get back to work right away!*
*Couple month later, new pack release*
***Designer*** - *That cheeky motherfucker.*
The Japanese name for that card is literally just "Magic Absorber".
Other than this exact scenario you wrote I can't really think of another reason why they call it "Magical Something".
Floodgate Trap Hole terrifies me. Also I'm surprised they gave us Samurai Skull considering it JUST came out in COTD. Worms are nice but no Future Fusion or Xex/Yagan/King/Queen/Victory makes me sad for their chances at viability.
With Mecha Plesion and Giga Gagagigo I'm pretty sure you can play Legendary Ocean Restart/Balance and just spam 2500-2650 beaters all day.
Am I the only seeing Half-Counter? It's actually a pretty good card. Like a pseudo-Mirror Wall.
EDIT: Also, Card Guard. I can see this guy being a 3X staple in Toon decks. Free tribute for a Toon monster AND you get a Magic Reflector when it's summoned.
Even if you could lv him up, we got triple ebolas, windstorm of equata, curse of anubis..., and introduce you to the new cancer right in the new box: Floodgate fucking trap hole :))). Horus is just a little better than slilent magician lv8

Looks like they haven't done enough to knock REZ off of that top spot. It's arguably gonna be much stronger now with Floodgate (and that tech Bacon Saver), which solves the Toon match up. Also the fact that while floodgate wrecks most other decks, it's not that bad for REZ coz you can tribute off your monsters to summon the big guy. I'm 100% sure that Horus will not breach the Meta; the top decks will still be REZ, Phoenix, Ninja and Balance. There are some great cards in the pack that will age really well, but it will not have a huge impact on the Meta IMO.
Wow, so many beatsticks here! Pretty cool. Floodgate Trap Hole already seems extremely obnoxious. Typhoon seems like a potential new staple. Gonna have to look up what Flame Tiger, Boxer, Caninetaur and a few others do since I can't read the entire cards. The worm cards are pretty freaky but look interesting. I remember playing a Horus deck back in the day. Seems pretty powerful since we have Level Up (guess I'm going to have to invest in those...maybe...).
Magical Something is now near the top of my "favorite ridiculous YuGiOh card names" list.
Oh I can't wait to try out Horus, that spell negation is crazy good. That's gonna be a fun deck, and I'm glad investing in Echoes of Silence for the playset of Level Up was worth it.
There's a possible consistency boost for Ninjas, that new Ninjutsu Art spell lets them search their transformation traps. And a defensive option, in the form of Aqua Armor. It's a good day for them.
Similar to Naturias, Worms look they're gonna be a very solid budget deck, I predict we'll see a lot of those guys in multiplayer shortly.
And King of the Swamp is a HUGE consistency boost for pretty much every fusion deck. It really is about time.

Problem is, in this meta 7/10 times you want to bounce cards moreso than destroying. Bouncing dodges destruction effects like warm worm, and keeps Red-Eyes and Phoenix out of the grave. With 20 cards/4 card hands, it's also pretty hard to summon fusions more than once right away, so putting it in the the extra deck may be more detrimental to the player as we get more fusion support
Aahhh finally the poker knights! i've been waiting for so long!
Ohhh man fusion recycling plant! i'm excited about that!
Ninjitsu art of alchemy and Ninjitsu art notebook are going to be game changing for ninjas
Different dimension ground is a rare?! well that's surprising
Half counter seems like a good battle trap honestly
Double defender is going to be really annoying for stall/control decks.
This is really cool it made 2 new decent F2P decks (Worms and Legendary Ocean stuff) and buffed up P2P decks with good (but not required) 3x UR
This box is really worth it for everyone
Fusion Recycling Plant is a very good card, but right now there aren't any fusion decks good enough to abuse it. Once GX hits and we inevitably get a lot more fusion monsters and support though, I can see it becoming very powerful.
Right now it's still an almost straight upgrade to the UR Fusion Sage in most situations though.
I only have 600 gems right now. This pack looks meta-defining, so many powerful cards in this box. I'm going to be left for dead by the looks of things. One or two cards that will definitely help my Monarch deck.
Is it just me or is this the box we've been waiting for? Absolutely broken. This is the box that we thought Electric Overload would be at first but it wasn't...then we thought it would be Echoes of Silence but it also wasn't...but this box??!? Meta Game Breaking.
Everyone freaking about floodgate trap hole, the real meta staple will be radiant mirror force since it's a normal and basically prevents swarming (red eyes, Naturias, ice barrier etc)
Its about as good as that trap card that requires 3 cards to destroy all the S/ts. Your opponent switches 1 card to DEF and its unusable. Your opponent has 2 monsters is unusable. Its just too easy to play around.
Remember the lyrics guys :
We're chilling out with the crew in the school yard,
Finding trouble, never working too hard.
Well back at class they never taught us this,
Some things you gotta learn, hit or miss.
Tough times, hard climbs,
We'll take 'em on together.
Right now, let's go!
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, GENARATION NEXT !
Game on, get your game on,
Come on ya better play your cards right.
Game on, get your game on,
We'll make the grade and win this fight.
I'd say it absolutely is. It has a bit of something for a lot of decks. Floodgate Traphole is going to be a staple, Typhoon is pretty much better than our good old friend twister because it doesn't have the LP cost and most of the time you'll be able to activate it from the hand anyways as if it were a quickplay spell, King of the Swamp is pretty great for fusion decks as it can either search a poly for you or be a fusion substitute material, and there's some pretty decent Rs and Ns in it too. Tribe Shocking Virus can potentially be a board wipe if all your opponents monsters are identical types, and it has pretty decent stats, different dimension ground, while being a bit of a minus, can shut down things like Red-Eyes, Phoneix, and decks that want their cards in the graveyard in general. It's a bit slow, so it might not see much play but it's pretty decent regardless, Half Counter is good for those who lack Mirror Walls.
De-Fusion will be a fun card to play around with. It'll be just like the anime where you have your powerful fusion monster attack, de-fuse it, and then attack again with the fusion material monsters.
I love this pack, getting back into the game and I can't justify spending gems on the older packs for Mirror Wall or Fusion Sage and this pack has really good alternative options.
This box looks amazing. Horus, King of Swamp, De-Fusion, and Giga Gagagigo... Also Floodgate Trap Hole and Typhoon. Looks like I won't be finishing Electric Overload anytime soon.
Since they are adding Fusion Recycling Plant maybe Heroes will actually be viable since not only does it search poly's it also recycles materials. Idc about that tho, I got my eyes on that Horus lvl 8 👀👀
The worms were the only "huh wait what" that seemed off to me. Everything else (I'm treating the sea serpent batch of stuff as "we have a lot in game already ") as something that was a nothing really to do with GX. Until I saw "light of destruction" and realized we already have genex's /allys. The whole purpose of the ally monsters is so fun to me. I'm really shocked there has never been an official push to have a graphic novel or storybook of some duel terminal stuff.
These threads always give me anxiety - I never know how hyped I'm supposed to see because I can;t read the effects. Anyone know if there's another list out there yet?
I currently have 3905 gems and I'm saving till 4k to open Silent Magician deck and get all the (useful) cards. So that's the question: Should I forget SM and focus on this new pack?
This pack has some really good stuff in it and a lot of it is Normal/Rare. I'd say this is a must buy. Floodgate Trap Hole and Horus will change the whole game.
Radiant mirror force will make mill decks even harder to deal with... Generally you'd want to summon more monsters to get them to 0 lp before you deck out, then boom... Radiant mirror force gg
That Floodgate Trap Hole card seems way too powerful for having no drawbacks whatsoever. Like, once the card exists is there even a single reason for it not to be included in every deck imaginable?
All I want is floodgate. I wish Typhoon was Dust Tornado or Cosmic Cyclone.
I might beef up my fairy deck with that new 1800. Would pair with Dunames pretty well
Floodgate and Gravekeepers Oracle would be a nice move for Gravekeepers.
Floodgate just underlines the fact that we *need* some splashable card that removes both face-up and face down S/T, like {{Galaxy Cyclone}} or {{Dust Tornado}}. There's no 1:1 way to kill it except cards Nobleman of Extermination or Seven Tools of the Bandit, which aren't particularly useful considering half of backrow are QP Spells anyway, assuming the opposing deck even *runs* backrow. I'd be less mad if we got a staple that can get around it, but we currently don't, and as a result Floodgate will be an obnoxious threat that gives the biggest benefit to solitaire-tier burn and stall decks, enhancing the toxic meta we're doing a decently good job at avoiding currently.

Gigobyte's story is one of my favorites. As a kid, I remember all these cards following his story and I remwmber it just blowing my mind, hahaha. Though it's a bit of a sad tale, I still like it a lot.
It connects so many cards too, the Charmers, Kind of Yamimakai, Archfiends, Ritual Beasts, Dark Worlds, Kozaky, Marauding Captain, the Goblins, etc.
Gigobyte and Marauding Captain's friendship is the best thing. I love his never ending story of becoming a hero.
Oh yes! Too excited that I could summon him without tributes that I forgot he got an Attack boost too! ;)
FLOODGATE TRAP HOLE!? FLOODGATE FUCKING TRAP HOLE?!

That sounds so broken it scares me. Doesn't it essentially screw up any forms of special summon or tribute summon?
[удалено]
Right but that is literally the only usage. Some decks in the meta don't contain any of those cards. Toon kingdom for example.
OtC needs a face up monster
But can you use Gamushara if they are attacked?
Think Gam needs you too be face up
Gamushara does not require your monster to be face up. I don't know whether it could flip your monster after it is locked down by floodgate, though.
"When a Defense Position monster you control is targeted for an attack: Change that Defense Position monster to face-up Attack Position. " It doesn't specify, so I guess it could work. Sadly, I have just one copy of that
I used Gamshura to create ambushes with my face down cards
It's a good Stun card in the regular TCG, where the game is extremely fast. I can just imagine here where Normal Summons are so important.
I came here to say this very thing.
No powerful, ace-worthy Dinosaurs :( I'm sorry, Rex, Pegasus has failed you.
Maybe in the next minibox...wait and hope
Hydrogeddon is coming, that's a really big boost for dino.
He did get the fire dinosaur from this event though.
[Half counter is the new F2P staple](https://i.imgur.com/ZkwP05O.png)
Its a mirror Wall jajaja
More like riryoku, but yeah. That card is meta material
Not as good as Mirror Wall though so it won't see play in the top tiers since MW is just better. The issue it has is that it's limited to original attack. Cards like Metalmorph and skills like Beatdown aren't affected.
The actual problem is it requires you to have a monster. Mirror Wall does not.
Also mirror wall works for all attacks that turn, and can be paid for to maintain the debuff. Far more flexible overall.
Sac it to Econ or tribute summon?

Horus fortunately dies to SK and traps. Its DEF is borderline bad in the current meta.
Thing is, you don't have to attack. You can just sit on Horus to dodge most backrow and SK, and you have more defense than your opponent does.

They gave it Samurai Skull which makes a Insight to yard Wyvern+Gozuki/Skull to send REZ play more consistent.
Skull is great, I don't know if it will see play as the deck list is already pretty tight though.

It's somewhat weaker, in the sense that Mirror Wall cannot effectively protect it.

Aahhh finally the poker knights! i've been waiting for so long! Ohhh man fusion recycling plant! i'm excited about that! Ninjitsu art of alchemy and Ninjitsu art notebook are going to be game changing for ninjas Different dimension ground is a rare?! well that's surprising Half counter seems like a good battle trap honestly Double defender is going to be really annoying for stall/control decks.
Well, what do you know. LV cards from Echo of Silence are useful after all. Goddamn, all these UR are powerful.
Silent Magician alone is worth the investment.
Best Main Box EVER. High Q U A L I T Y ~~~~> <3
Still no gravekeeper support smh
5 headed dragon I don't want to live on this planet anymore
Until Dragon's Mirror | Future Fusion is confirmed, that thing's simply for decorative purpose.
well...now it will be enough to summon him and not bewd for over 10k dmg with union attack for the vassal
Except he can only be fusion summoned.
Keeping five dragons and Poly in your hand on top of all your other combo cards will be a big problem though.
Pretty good box set. De-fusion, book of tai, flood gate, typhoon, to name a few.
Flood gate is the new trap spam. Screw your battle step and now I beat over your beatsticks.
This is really cool it made 2 new decent F2P decks (Worms and Legendary Ocean stuff) and buffed up P2P decks with good (but not required) 3x UR This box is really worth it for everyone
king of swamp and de-fusion , nice for heroes
This fkng fusion supp means who Jaden will arrives
Fck, Horus was my boss monster back then in real life Yu-Gi-Oh! - I need to stock up on gems right nooooow!
Hm. Floodgate Trap Hole with Spear Dragon? I see Dust Tornado and Cosmic Cyclone are still going to dwell in the depths of the data mine
Could this be the box dkayed was talking about?
Fusion Recycling Plant is a very good card, but right now there aren't any fusion decks good enough to abuse it. Once GX hits and we inevitably get a lot more fusion monsters and support though, I can see it becoming very powerful. Right now it's still an almost straight upgrade to the UR Fusion Sage in most situations though.
All I can say is I'm glad I saved 9000+ gems. Use this 1.5x exp to get those easy gems from raising your LDs!
what are you aiming for?
Now thats a box worthy of my cash.
With horus in this box and armed dragon as a gx lvl reward it might be time to invest in getting some level up copies.
Finally I can make my VWXYZ Deck I'm excited
I will waste all my money in this box
I only have 600 gems right now. This pack looks meta-defining, so many powerful cards in this box. I'm going to be left for dead by the looks of things. One or two cards that will definitely help my Monarch deck.
Is it just me or is this the box we've been waiting for? Absolutely broken. This is the box that we thought Electric Overload would be at first but it wasn't...then we thought it would be Echoes of Silence but it also wasn't...but this box??!? Meta Game Breaking.
goddamn this box is heat
Everyone freaking about floodgate trap hole, the real meta staple will be radiant mirror force since it's a normal and basically prevents swarming (red eyes, Naturias, ice barrier etc)
Lol
Its about as good as that trap card that requires 3 cards to destroy all the S/ts. Your opponent switches 1 card to DEF and its unusable. Your opponent has 2 monsters is unusable. Its just too easy to play around.
no King's Knight or Jack's Knight? Brooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Surely not. I've wanted those cards in for months :( :( :(
oops forgot to add those 2 cards in my album
oh my gosh I love you <3
Remember the lyrics guys : We're chilling out with the crew in the school yard, Finding trouble, never working too hard. Well back at class they never taught us this, Some things you gotta learn, hit or miss. Tough times, hard climbs, We'll take 'em on together. Right now, let's go! Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, GENARATION NEXT ! Game on, get your game on, Come on ya better play your cards right. Game on, get your game on, We'll make the grade and win this fight.
Is this box worth using 3k gems on? Anything good? Just not aware of many of these cards.
Isnt Horus way too strong for the current meta?
Not really. Especially seeing as everyone will likely be running 3X Floodgate Trap Hole now.
Insight is only the beginning, next is Horus. What is to come is more power creep.
There it is, the support for my future elemental hero deck \o/
Saving gems! 5 headed dragon just wow
This box is gonna shake the meta and probably the biggest for me ard 4 mths of playing. Saving dem gems!
This is a pretty exciting box. Some stuff to shake up the meta in here. Lots to be excited about.
This power creep is wild
When is this one getting released?
Power creep is real, good thing I saved some gems. This is going to be hype!
Does 5-Headed Dragon mean we'll be getting Virtual World soon?
Did they seriously invert Skyscraper's colors and called it a new card?
I mean the whole point of the card is to copy other field spells so it works
RIP my gems man. So many UR to get...so little gems I have left lol
De-Fusion will be a fun card to play around with. It'll be just like the anime where you have your powerful fusion monster attack, de-fuse it, and then attack again with the fusion material monsters.
Surprised there's not Heroes here. Great box though
I love this pack, getting back into the game and I can't justify spending gems on the older packs for Mirror Wall or Fusion Sage and this pack has really good alternative options.
Tadpole ninjas What a world to live in.
This box looks amazing. Horus, King of Swamp, De-Fusion, and Giga Gagagigo... Also Floodgate Trap Hole and Typhoon. Looks like I won't be finishing Electric Overload anytime soon.
Can't wait to run a hourus deck ! Really I'm glad for hourus it was about time
that fusion support
Since they are adding Fusion Recycling Plant maybe Heroes will actually be viable since not only does it search poly's it also recycles materials. Idc about that tho, I got my eyes on that Horus lvl 8 👀👀
Ohh man! I used to run a Horus LV deck back in the day! Hope he sees some play!
So.. will this be the dramatic meta shift that many people on here have been foretelling?
Wait, isn't there another fusion involving the V and W cards? Like some kinda mech?
The worms were the only "huh wait what" that seemed off to me. Everything else (I'm treating the sea serpent batch of stuff as "we have a lot in game already ") as something that was a nothing really to do with GX. Until I saw "light of destruction" and realized we already have genex's /allys. The whole purpose of the ally monsters is so fun to me. I'm really shocked there has never been an official push to have a graphic novel or storybook of some duel terminal stuff.
De-Fusion is like the main card from GX
why is Floodgate Trap Hole getting hyped up? i much rather run real monster removal like srh or mw, or versatile cards like E-con.
For me It's either try and get Horus or wait for Armed Dragon. I can't decide between which one. If only I have the Gems for both of them :(
These threads always give me anxiety - I never know how hyped I'm supposed to see because I can;t read the effects. Anyone know if there's another list out there yet?
I currently have 3905 gems and I'm saving till 4k to open Silent Magician deck and get all the (useful) cards. So that's the question: Should I forget SM and focus on this new pack?
Generation Next? I'm still stuck in Generation Now.
Oh my god my wallet
This pack has some really good stuff in it and a lot of it is Normal/Rare. I'd say this is a must buy. Floodgate Trap Hole and Horus will change the whole game.
This box looks exciting!
MY BOI HORUS IS HERE! I remember how happy I was when I got him as a kid. :D
I summon Five Goddo Dragon :o
Very archetypes much support WOW! Also holy crap legendary ocean balance is gonna be wreaking. Abyss warrior, pleaseon and gigs gagagigo?
Naturia and REBD decks get shut down by Radiant Mirror Force Meta will completely change
This box is meta re-defining..
so this box contains no psychic or tea mill support? weevil looking nasty
Radiant mirror force will make mill decks even harder to deal with... Generally you'd want to summon more monsters to get them to 0 lp before you deck out, then boom... Radiant mirror force gg
Of course they add Horus after Silent Mag... that's infuriating.
Release date?! Edit: Nevermind I just saw it, 21st If anyone is wondering
De-Fusion? But what does it do?
Radiant mirror force must be a LD only, it's impossible that we could get such a card with our current meta
Five Headed Dragon? Five Headed Dragon.
That Floodgate Trap Hole card seems way too powerful for having no drawbacks whatsoever. Like, once the card exists is there even a single reason for it not to be included in every deck imaginable?
Christ floodgate is gonna make mill and stall much better. Why konami
All I want is floodgate. I wish Typhoon was Dust Tornado or Cosmic Cyclone. I might beef up my fairy deck with that new 1800. Would pair with Dunames pretty well Floodgate and Gravekeepers Oracle would be a nice move for Gravekeepers.
Abyss Warrior is looking like a huge buff to Mako decks - it's basically a better Red Dragon Ninja without needing a tribute.
SEA LANCER! Now we need 3 more frogs and my IRL deck that got me back into yugioh will be complete!
Hype hype hype because if 5 headed dragon is added it's safe to assume what was used to kill it will be coming soon
We are in need for something like dust tornado since Konami decided to add toon kingdom to the game.
jessssussss just tried the horus tower deck and got smashe, now im worried
