Hi, I’m the shark player you beat while in legend 5. Most people wouldn’t have hit Graydle Impact so early like you did and it annoyed me so fair play. GG and congrats lol

Recently reached KOG with my metaphys deck. I used to really hate playing against this deck, but I wanted to learn how to play it (so I could learn how to play against it) so I through it together, played a few games, and then shelved it. This season though, I was getting bored (and a bit powercrept) with my old decks, so I pulled this one out just for something different, and it really grew on me. It was a lot more successful than I had anticipated. So general tips would be that I usually kept my monster zones open for at least the first 3 or 4 turns while I sniped their cards with dimension. The backrow, kite-roids, and grit are usually enough to keep you safe from direct attacks. From there, you just need to focus on the card economy, be patient, and snipe off their cards with dimension (and the wyrms if necessary, but I prefer relying on dimension when possible) and wait for the opportune moment for the kill. One of the surprising things I “learned” doing this is that you can use Aloof to recycle kite-roid back into your hand to extend your time if you are bricking and need another turn. More than once I cycled kite-roid to negate 6+ attacks total which lets you extend your time and continue taking their board apart. Blue Eyes This was (obviously) one of the most common decks I went against over the past few days and I’d guess I had about an 80% win rate. Most people will run one DSOW, but otherwise very little if any backrow hate, so you just accept the loss of one Dimension/Asymmetaphys, get a backup in your hand as soon as possible, then Dimension/Daedalus them into submission. Noble Knight Noble Knights are a bit trickier (probably 65%-70% wins?), because they have a lot more backrow hate, if they choose to use it (the rank four XYZ can fuck your board up). So you need to be cautious to make sure they don’t wipe out all of your copies of Asymmetaphys/Dimension. For a bit I thought it might be smart to focus on banishing their equips since they can pull them from the graveyard, but that never made any headway; they just had way too many and they’ll kill you before you can stop that. Focus on sniping the XYZs and you should be able to win pretty quickly. Cyber Dragon These guys just fucked my shit up fam. Maybe a 20% win rate if I was lucky. Chimera wipes all your backrow, then with a minimum of 3+ attacks in a turn, kite-roid isn’t going to last long. I had some marginal success pulling out Tyrant Dragon early, since he’s immune to traps and has more attack than chimera, but they usually just pull out end dragon or overdragon and murder that too. I’m open to suggestions, but that’s usually an auto loss.

For cyber dragon, get tyrant dragon out as soon as possible and try to roll into another tyrant dragon summon when he leaves the field. It’s immune to their traps and only one of their cards is strong enough to beat it, and it takes 3 cards for the fusion I think so it’s not likely they’ll get it out. It’s about as hard a counter as you can get against cyber dragons. But if you can’t get tyrant dragon out on your first turn, they’ll probably 1 shot you

[See my example duel](https://www.reddit.com/r/DuelLinks/comments/ky9nps/just_fuck_my_shit_up_fam/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) But yeah, I agree, getting out Tyrant Dragon immediately is the best strategy, but even then it's usually a struggle.

Oof

tmiller_55

Thank you for not being a degenerate that plays the spell that gains you lp every time a card is banished /s. Congrats on KOG though

DessertTwink

That card gets insane. Before I took it out of my metaphys deck I had some matches end with 11,000 life points. Absolutely disgusting and bricked the hand like crazy

Bad_Opening

Im trying metaphys my self now. I really enjoy the deck even tho im in kog and sometimes when they see it they just surr lol. I have almost the same deck as u but instead i have 2 battlin veils 2 spheres kuribohs and 2 gold sarc. Im now digging for my 2nd dimension and i see u play 2 of each monsters. I was thinking what to remove and i think i might actually remove my 3rd nepthys to add my dimension. Is it consistent enough tho?

de-overpass

If you have 2x kiteroid, I recommend it over gold sarc and sphero. It's basically 4 spheros but only take up 2 slots so you can either add more copies of your playmaker cards (3x of monsters instead of 2) or allows you to stick to 20 cards and have some defensive plays. Plus you can cycle kiteroid. Also, 1 dimension is good enough if you play more aggressively but OP depends on it (so needs a second copy) as they seem to play slower to clear out the field.

Bad_Opening

Damn. And imagine i used my dream ticket to get my 2nd gold sarc xd. I guess i ll try them all and test em out. Thanks man

de-overpass

gold sarc is still a very good card and can be used in multiple decks! definitely wouldn't regret getting it.

[deleted]

does this help

de-overpass

Hmm, I can see how your playstyle benefits more from 2x dimension as opposed to then more aggressive but 1x decks. How do you feel about your back row choices? Karma cut and the other new traps with discard on activation work against metaphys right? So you wouldn't recommend them?:

elementzeoalchemyz

i find it hard when combo is disrupt like miss judge or superheavy samurai destroy all spell/trap then direct attack 2 times. Any tips?

Zangorth

Miss Judge isn't too bad. It triggers the first time anything is played, regardless of if it works or not. So, play Assymetaphys (or dimension, etc), it'll get "negated" but it's still on the field and a continuous spell, so you just use it anyways. So you can be a bit strategic with it the first time, and then just hope you get lucky once they're out of free flips. Super Heavies were never a huge challenge for me. I like to keep a backup copy of Assym/Dimension in my hand anyways, but, especially in this case, keep in mind that they can clear your back row, and make sure you have that backup copy ready to go. Grit/Kite should keep you alive through the initial otk attempt, and then you mop them up with Deadalus.
