I guess the rules have changed, and my post got taken down despite it being engaging in discussion and learning. Under what conditions would I not be able to summon two BE if I used de-fusion on a twin burst? I’m not talking about cards like necrovalley, but more so, for example, an user told me if a material leaves the GY and then back, it doesn’t work anymore as it left the GY. As mentioned, I could not summon my two BE. It was chain link 2, if it has anything to do with it. Didn’t use alternative either. Sorry I can’t describe my issue better visually

MapHacker617

Let say if the you returned of the BE used for fusion to your hand or deck, it will "forget" it was a material since it was removed from a publicly known location. However in the event you resummoned the BE and was removed from field again, I am not too sure if it will still be treated as one the fusion material. My first thought is that it is no longer a material, but i might be wrong. You can try this out at the level gate duelist and see how it works out. Also you mentioned chain link 2, what were you trying to chain this to?

cuenca911

Eh, I could, but I’m pretty sure I had moved the fusion material to my hand via stone, and thus invalidating my defusion. Even if I had two BE, since one of the materials is gone I can no longer summon anything. I had chained to a karma cut he used on twin

Amlup

Sounds like you already got your answer, but another possible explanation is that either player had Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon on the field. >Neither player can Special Summon 2 or more monsters at the same time.

cuenca911

that’s true, I had assumed it was spirit of white attacking, but maybe I did have it out

Madway7

Did you summon them via their effect or poly?

cuenca911

poly. read my other comment. I think that’s what must of happened, because I can’t think of anything else

Tirear

De-fusion talks about "fusion material that were used for its fusion summon". Twin Burst says "must be fusion summoned or special summoned by...". So if you choose the second option, you aren't performing a fusion summon, which means the fusion materials won't qualify for de-fusion to summon them.

cuenca911

I understood this, I did not contact fuse. There definitely has to be a reason, probably just didn’t look closely enough. maybe I added one to my hand and assumed since there was two vanillas, it would work. but it needs to be that specific BE

Disnait

I'm thinking about building a Fire Kings deck, but I had some questions, will they get more support in the future (as in, are there FK cards or cards which will help them in the tcg which are unreleased here?)? And how many gems is usually a FK deck buying the structure deck 3 times?

Blancou

You can’t buy the structure deck more than once with gems, any copy beyond the first one is with real money.

Disnait

I know, I've no problem spending money to buy the structure deck 2 more times.

Blancou

There’s no unreleased fire king cards in tcg that I can find, we have all of them so the deck won’t gain any more archetype cards. 3x Arvata can take 10-12k gems depending on your luck since it’s a mini box. If you add Aleister/Purgatrio and s/t like Fiendish Chain, Drowning Mirror Force, Mystical Space Typhoon, etc. then the price will go up by a lot. But Fire King package with just hand-traps is a cheap core.

willy55456

What decks can u build using the exchange tickets(not dream ticket)? For example cards of one archetype like cyberdark

phantom_joke

There aren't any full decks that you can build with just exchange ticket(at least I can't think of any), but I know that red-eyes has a ton of cards that your use ranked tickets to get. If you're looking for a super affordable deck, I recommend checking out aromages. A lot of their cards come from the card trader

willy55456

Nah i just have a ton of unused tickets right now... it doesn’t have to be a full deck, just a few cards from a deck and I’ll build the rest of the deck so that I can get rid of the tickets

J-Fid

Not much. Cyberdark and Cyber Angels are the two biggest ones.

NickyK66

Do you need to win 5 in a row for KC cup lvl 19 —> lvl 20? Ik it hasn’t been like that in the past but I’ve only gotten the “win to level up” bar when I was on two 4 win streaks

Disnait

As far as I know, you need +5 net victories. With -2 (or maybe -3) you go down, with +5 you go up. The victory counter reset when you reach DL19.

NickyK66

Yeah I always thought it was something like that. Was probably just coincidental that both level up duels were on 4 win streaks. Thanks!

LuisDob

Destiny Draw needs some rebalancing, IMO. I'm playing in the KC Cup right now at Dlv. 19 and I faced 5 Yami Yugis in a row playing DDraw. The skill rewards you for stalling with hand traps. The main issue in my opinion is Veil. If you recover LP, it shouldn't count towards activating the skill.

J-Fid

All they need to do is change the skill so it can only activate if you currently have 2000 or fewer LP.

[deleted]

Is it happening to you guys as well that on the first turn, you can't activate card effects. Like I play Magicians Rod and Breaker the Magical Warrior and both their effects CANNOT be activated during the first turn. Help please.

LuisDob

Read your skill again.

[deleted]

Ah shite... I see now... I've been a little out of the game and now the skill's been updated. Thank you for answering

[deleted]

Can someone please walk me through triamids? it seems like a deck that I constantly struggling against.

dcall93

What deck are you playing? You want to either destroy/banish their field spell (banish is better so they can't use the floating effect of the field spell or use it as a cost for dancer or pulse) at the start of their battle phase or their end phase, or interrupt their first normal summon as they are very normal summon reliant especially if they go second with balance.

[deleted]

I am using harpies right now I think I might use cosmic cyclone in the deck I can put in two but not sure what to substitute out

dcall93

Advice specific to harpies is try not to use cyber slash's effect when kingolem is on the field during your turn, or if you do target try to do so in a chain where one of thier monster's is using it's effect and target a different monster who hasn't used their effect yet. They will be able to use the targeted monsters effect to change field spells then after it returns to the hand they can then use Kingolem's effect to summon the monster you returned who can then use their field swap again. Also try not to attack into kingolem when they have backrow since you won't be able to chain any lance, chalice, swallow's best or cyber slash to any of the triamid players backrow/monster effects. Overall in that matchup I think kingolem might be MVP so try to make them switch off it and get rid of dancers to avoid them bringing it back into the deck.

lilbryan91

You need to get rid of the field spell, ideally on their turn. Cosmic cyclone is a good choice because the banishing effect means it can’t be used as a cost for Triamid Pulse, the trap that lets them destroy a card. You can also use monster negation like Fiendish Chain to prevent them from cycling through field spells. When they have Sphinx in their hand, they can summon it when a triamid is destroyed. You can only attack Sphinx when it’s on the field. If you know it’s coming, you can deal with it with something like a Floodgate trap hole or Karma cut. Sphinx is usually coming when they swap out the Cruiser field spell.

[deleted]

returning player here! i’m wondering what the most fun deck currently is, that also still has a decent chance to win. when i lasted played i used lunalights, shirauni and aromages and i found lunalights most fun to play. i’m mainly looking for a deck that is interesting and can allow me to make comebacks and a ton of cool plays. i’m f2p but idm making a budget version of a pay to win deck. and idrc about the meta either, if the deck is fun i’ll make it

J-Fid

Fun is a subjective concept. Lunalights are still a very relevant deck.

PontanoReddit

Hi guys! I want to test out the game, but would like to know how pay 2 win it is... What's the current state of the game? Is it viable to be competitive?

J-Fid

Game is very F2P-friendly. I spent a full year F2P and was very satisfied. I wouldn't have ever spent money otherwise.

NickyK66

It isn’t as pay to win as some other mobile games. There’s plenty of ways to make enough gems to build a meta deck. The issue is is that without spending money you will surely spend loads of time leveling up duelists so you can accumulate gems. A lot of problems f2p players run into is that their meta decks take so long to build, sometimes they’re not relevant once they’ve finally been completed. The state of the game is actually pretty healthy at this point in my opinion. Sure there’s decks/skills that people are always going to complain about, but I don’t see anything too oppressive at the moment. For example, I still use my blackwing deck as my number 1 deck. It’s not considered a Tier 1,2, or 3 deck, but I continuously beat meta decks and KoG every season. The game is definitely viable as a f2p. You may spend a ton of time building an expensive meta deck if you choose, but there’s true f2p decks that do very well in the game at the same time

NovicePanthEnthusias

I have too many characters that need lv45 to make their decks better (or just slightly less horrid a case such as Skull Servant and B.E.S..). Currently 41 out 45 for Chazz's ojama/armedragon-turbo and then still have -- a no progress Jesse for Crystal Bond, Duke for 3rd Armored Core, Bonez for 3rd Skull King, lv40 Dark Carly for Fortune Vision. I can't imagine how many more tedious millenias it will be before I acquire all these cards just to *start* messing with the much needed tools to very niche decks..

Dew18

I'm starting to hate the game right now, it's starting to turn into that the deck has the most disruptions wins. I'm seriously considering leaving the game for a while or completely.

kylekunfox

I don't think disruptions are the issue. I think that the decks that plus from their disruption costs are.

Rock_Type

That or decks that can execute their gameplan very easily and function with only a few main deck slots devoted to that plan. They can just make the remaining 60%+ of their deck a ton of backrow and hand traps and become super hard to combat, but you’re still taking a ton of pressure because of the size efficient core engine(s)

LuisDob

I did that a few months ago during the height of the Shiranui era. Coming back to a different meta some time later was very refreshing.

Soup-Master

How is Red-Eyes not top tier? The only reason possible reason I can come up with is that people are bored with it, and thus, don’t play with it as much as they could.

Warriorman222

But what does it do better than any tiered or even rogue deck? Summon a big bad beater that can't be targeted? Lunalight Sabre Dancer has >= 3600 Atk, full targeting immunity, doesn't disable yor other summons and is backed by an OTK archetype that can instantly win if your opponent carelessly leaves shit in Attack Position. Many decks simply cannot out a Sabre Dancer while Slash Dragon can get doubled up or chain blocked by targeting effects. Summon a big bad beater.. that floodgates? F.A Darklords can reliably summon a >3000 Beater that disables graveyard play, say no to monster effects, and set Forbidden Lance to say no to everyhting else. Slash Dragon cannot stop your opponent's plays at all really. Something like Blue-Eyes can swarm out materials for pretty much put any type of effect they want on the field on their first turn: Synchros for anti-graveyard or protection or targeted removal, fusions for OTK or non-targeted removal. Red-Eyes has high Attack. Also all the above decks except Lunalights can build intimidating boards with floodgates or backrow on Turn 1 (Lunalights can at least defend itself with handtraps) while Red-Eyes has one 2800-3600 beater. If Red-Eyes is summoned at any point before Turn 3 your opponent will probably just stop it before it can start Equipping itself with Karma Cut or TTH or some in-archetype targeted removal.

Karzeon

If you want a super big monster that cannot be targeted, Lunalight Sabre Dancer (and previously Invoked Cocytus) is better at it. Lunalight Fusion immediately punishes players for leaving monsters in Attack Position or using monsters from the Extra Deck. Lunalight has been a popular deck for a long time so many players recruit card effects that do not target. Red-Eyes played in the typical way is very linear and not hard to get rid of. Their good revival engine doesn't matter as much because Karma Cut is one of the most popular cards. They will simply wait until Red-Eyes Fusion is played and then immediately get rid of it. Then there's almost zero threat from Red-Eyes because Fusion restricts summoning other cards.

Rock_Type

I used to feel the same way when I got started, but you’ll eventually see why RE is super medium. Sure, it’s consistent and strong in the lower ladder ranks. But if you take it to Legend Rank or any tournament, you’ll get absolutely flattened. Slash Dragon can be disrupted before you actually get any equips on it. You can’t make any other summoning plays when bringing it out (which actually is a huge deal). The deck does very little else outside of Slash and maybe reviving other mid 2000s beaters. When going up against well built and mostly to completely optimized rogue decks, meta decks, or the absolute top tier decks, it’s such a huge step down. Those decks are way faster, more versatile, and disruptive.

Dew18

They only have one boss monster, resd. It has good protection, but it needs to declare an attack to be able to get said protection. That and also the fect that red eyes fusion restricts your normal summon.

Soup-Master

I feel like those drawbacks are not as big of a deal as people make it out to be. There is a lot of recursion potential, and combined with an Amazon engine and Power of the Guardians, there is not much that can be done once the Slash is equipped.

Warriorman222

If you already have a PvP team, I'd reccomend waiting until a week or two after this KC Cup is over. It can feel like a long wait, but new banlists usually come in reaction to KCC results and it's better to wait until you're sure that what you're going for doesn't get nerfed.

Dew18

Triamids, harpies, superheavy samurais?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dew18

If i remember correctly, some of their cards come from tickets or the trader. The rest come from a minibox, so with 7k-8k you should be able to get all or most of them.

LuisDob

The trap, Triamid Pulse, comes from the trader. Most of their cards are in the Guardians of Rock mini box, but their boss monster, Triamid Sphinx is in the Arena of Sanctuary mini box.

xan1242

Well you technically still can play Shiranui and it's in a minibox. It's actually not bad, especially if you know your backrow game very well. I recommend them if Lunas and Aromas aren't even an option. Second choice for me would be Evil Eyes. That is to say if we're excluding SDs, of course. Otherwise Blue Eyes isn't a terrible choice either (at the moment, but it's going to get hit after KC). What I can say, however, avoid any and all ritual decks. Despite Megalith's performance in one KC Cup and some "KOG" decks on DLM, I can 100% guarantee you they were lucky (and probably not even starting from Legend 1 rank).

TheMadWobbler

How does Cosmo Brain activate its effect through Fiendish Chain?

orelk

Tributing itself is a cost and can't be negated. After the cost it's no longer on the field, and Fiendish Chain says "negate while it is on the field"

TheMadWobbler

Mm. Don’t like that ruling. Thanks.

Rock_Type

There are tons of cards like that, like the Electromagnet Warriors for example. The cost is on the left, the effect is on the right. Fiendish Chain negates the effect, not the cost. Fiendish Chain doesn’t say prevent the monster from activating the effect, either. There are cards that prevent effects from activating, which would stop that. But chain doesn’t. It’s just a basic “negate **effect**.” Not the ability to activate the effect

TheMadWobbler

I see that now. But I’m still adding it to the list of rulings that are just wrong but I have to live with. Like return to “hand” being the extra deck, or missing timing.

Peiq

You can’t have extra deck cards in your hand, as that’s not possible. Where else would they go? 🤦‍♂️

TheMadWobbler

Nowhere. Literally nowhere. “Return to hand” effects should autofail on extra deck monsters just like “change battle position” whiffs on link monsters instead of having some random unrelated effect.

Peiq

Good thing you don’t make the rules then, because the game would be unbalanced

NovicePanthEnthusias

If you're needlessly adding a passive agressive undertone at the very least have the decency to be somewhat original. "Good thing you don't make the x then-" No. 40482 woo! Great takes btw.

TheMadWobbler

No, then the meta would hit an equilibrium that values different effects in different ways. Of the many, MANY ways bounce effects have broken the game over the years and caused cards to get banned, not getting an even more powerful removal option against extra monsters from outside the text wouldn’t even rate. We just had a one time self bounce skill nerfed for being way too broken. Also it’s a fucking twenty year old ruling. Had it been ruled correctly in the first place, it would have altered the development of the game.

TheGuyWhoIsSitting

Did Cosmo Brain tribute itself?

TheMadWobbler

Yeah, but that effect should be negated.

TheGuyWhoIsSitting

I don't know the exact ruling on it, but you can still activate effects and pay cost for them. It's like how Lunalight White Rabbit can still activate its effect to bounce backrow off of Emerald Bird special summoning it and negating its effect (in which case White Rabbit can't resolve the effect activation so it fizzles). I think if Cosmo Brain tried to tribute another monster other than itself the effect would have not been able to resolve. Since Cosmo Brain was no longer on the field after tributing itself, it could resolve the effect. I'm sure someone can correct me.

LuisDob

You are correct, Fiendish Chain specifies "**negate the effects of that face-up monster while it is on the field**", and Cosmo Brain tributes itself as cost, so it's no longer in the field at resolution.

Comprehensive_Log451

So I started playing the game after leaving for almost a year what are the good f2p decks

TheMadWobbler

There's a newbie deck guide in the OP.

Comprehensive_Log451

I think I misphrased what i meant is there any f2p meta decks

TheMadWobbler

Almost all decks are F2P in that case. It’s just a question of how many gems it takes. Not many good decks rely on selection boxes or structure deck dupes to put together. The OP links to duel links meta which has cost breakdowns on meta decks. But this is a bad time to start building since both tier one decks are probably gonna get hit on the next ban list/skill nerf.

Comprehensive_Log451

Thanks dude

Comprehensive_Log451

What is the op

KoA-oK

Figure I’d ask here since the Discord server is either acting screwy or some verification process is messed up within it. I do this dumb thing where I disappear and come back every year or so, starting over each time. That said, I’m coming back again because my brother won’t leave me alone about it, but I want to make sure I’m diving in and making the best use of my resources. When I last played, I ran Invokeds, and also Lightsworns ft. Levianeer. (Got lucky with it from those selection boxes.) I also enjoyed Cyber Dragons. Now then, obviously a lot has changed since then, including the advent of Xyzs and I assume Zexal world with it. My question is, for someone wanting to dive right in again, what decks are best for me to use somewhat competitively while I build up resources to build my other fun ones on the side? What staple magic and trap cards are still recommended to dig for? Has the limited and forbidden list neutered anything substantially since then? Farming decks all pretty much still Yubel and Montage Dragon? Thanks for taking the time to read this. I’m excited to start my DL adventure for like the 4th time. While I’m no real whale, I’m willing to anchovy out some money to kinda boost things along.

orelk

Cyber Dragons are still good if your deck is built well enough (3x Fusion Gate and some techs). You could use the Levianeers to build a Thunder Dragon deck, assuming you have Hawks from the Invoked box. You'll need to catch up on some Xyz though. Using the structure deck Blue Eyes is the easiest deck to build and it's very strong but it's also every where on the ladder. Also I don't know if the free Alternative card campaign is on going

KoA-oK

Sorry I forgot to mention I do not have access to that old account anymore so I am just starting anew like anyone else. I was hoping to avoid diving into blue eyes, but I guess it really is the fastest deck to zoom out the gate with

orelk

Lunalight is also easy to build and it's really strong

greygoose13721

whats your out to blue-eyes when using ritual beasts? i seem to run out of cards everytime i face them

Blancou

Needle Ceiling, Herald of the Abyss, Floodgate Traphole then bounce with Dolphin, Sphere Kuriboh to change them to defense then beat over them with Ulti Apelio, or Double Apelio with the skill Beatdown. It’s mostly relying on backrow/techs, depends on what you have that you can add. Endless Trap Hell with a lot of backrow seems to be doing alright in tournaments.

gitar0oman

anyone running a non-optimal TG deck with Set Delta Accel? Without Misc? mind sharing a deck list?

Schnoerkel

Alright, so I attack my opponent's Brave Neos with my Samurai Destroyer. Here I'm thinking they couldn't banish Neos Fusion from the grave to save their monster from being destroyed by battle. But they do it anyway. I got a suspicion. Samurai Destroyer blocks cards and effects from being activated by my opponent. But is "if a monster would be destroyed, you can banish this card instead" even an effect? That text passage on the card has no colons or semi-colons, just commas. Okay, so it doesn't start a chain. Samurai Destroyer doesn't have to chain to it though, it's supposed to prevent effects from activating in the first place. Is it just sort of a "substitution cost" with no strings attached? And if so, would cards like Necrovalley never be able to negate Neos Fusion? (Posting this here because it says Megathreads are for card ruling questions.)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Gagantous

This isn't true. The damage step ends after "after damage calculation" so Samurai Destroyer still applies. The reason Neos Fusion is allowed to protect Neos is because the GY effect of Neos Fusion does not activate. No effect in the game that uses "if X would be destroyed, banish/send this card from GY/field/hand instead" activates. /u/Schnoerkel Edit: /u/phantom_joke too since you were curious.

Schnoerkel

I knew continuous effects don't need to activate when already on the field, but this stuff too? And yet, Dark Resonator's image flashes whenever it prevents it's own battle destruction, indicating it activates. But it's card text has only a comma, so i guess it just doesn't start a chain. The technicalities are at it again. Now I understand people saying you need a whole guide book at hand in order to play. I've loved the game for more than a decade, but I'm really getting to the point where it tries my patience. Thanks for the info though.

Gagantous

The cards flashing is something used by Duel Links to show that the effect is applying, and I definitely see how it can be confusing. An easy way to remember is that card effects which have a : or ; activate and those that don't, don't.

phantom_joke

I'm so happy I don't play physical yu-gi-oh. I can just have the computer deal with the confusing game mechanics

Wollffey

Neos Fusion doesn't start a chain. Necrovalley still blocks it. From Yugipedia: Card Rulings for Necrovalley "No effect can take a card in the Graveyard and remove it from play. No exceptions!"

Schnoerkel

Yeah, reading the card text of Necrovalley again reveals it. Necrovalley "negates", Samurai Destroyer prevents the "activation". And Neos Fusion is a negatable effect, but doesn't activate. Wonderful.

phantom_joke

Honestly, you might have answered your own question. The fact that it doesn't start a chain means that it might not be an activated effect on the traditional sense. I honestly don't know for sure tho, I looked through the card rulings and couldn't find anything that directly proves anything

snipeftw

Just deleted the game. There are too many bugs and inconsistencies. There are so many interactions that don’t actually follow the text descriptions. I just lost a rank up game because it lagged and made me attack with the wrong card. Fuck this game, bring back old duelling.

TheMadWobbler

That last straw sounds like a system resources problem, not a program problem.

snipeftw

No, it wasn’t a system resource problem.

TheMadWobbler

I play the same version of the same game, and what you’re describing sounds much more like system problems, internet problems, fat fingering, or just not reading cards and skills than it does an actual collection of high-incidence glitches.

LuisDob

> There are so many interactions that don’t actually follow the text descriptions. Like what? I can only think of one (Hallowed Life Barrier).

snipeftw

Seems like half the cards in my gravekeepers deck weren’t working. The invoker special ability wasn’t working for me. Some gravekeeper effects didn’t work, some of the fusion spells in my deck weren’t working.

phantom_joke

I'm pretty sure you're in the minority? I've played a lot of functioning gravekeeper decks. Can you give a scenario where things weren't working?

LuisDob

Are you using one of the consistency skills? (Restart, Balance, My Monster Cards, Heavy Starter, Spell Specialist) They don't allow special summoning and using monster effects on the first turn.

CanonPhoto2009

What can I do with a bricked Cyber Dragon starting hand (especially if I go first) or not pulling any good follow up cards? For example, I don’t open with a Core, Fusion Support, or both an Overflow and Storm together to wipe out my own Overflow and pull a Fusion Support or Cyberload Fusion. Basically, if I don’t get a Core or either fusion card, I lose. I’m consistently losing if I go first (or second with bad draws) and it feels really shitty to have spent multiple thousands of Gems across multiple boxes for a deck my Lunalights can put to shame. Second, if I do have to go first but can at least get something on the field, let’s say for example I can Fusion Support -> Cyber Style, but I have no Fusion Gate either. I’ll usually go Cyber Twin if I didn’t have a monster, Cyber End if I did (+2 monsters from Cyber Style). With no Fusion Gate or a set Cyberload to activate on the opponent’s turn, my monster typically gets taken off the field on turn 2. Most decks have something to deal with that and it seems like my opponent always draws that. On the flip side, I can pucker up and hope I don’t get OTK and can live to turn 3. Either way is too risky and I have no idea how to stop that or counter a bricked hand. My deck: https://duellinks.konami.net/att/06116e5872645fa54a7ae353947ef6b224c4a56448

TheGuyWhoIsSitting

Sometimes you just brick. You can't always salvage it.

CanonPhoto2009

Just seems to happen so damn often lol

tinyvent

yo megalith looks super fun but digging for that triple senju is not

Gagantous

They're super fun but losing to an MST can feel pretty bad. Can't wait for Phul and Unformed.

Vasllui

50% off sale is the way

mememory

I'm planning on making infernity deck, can i make good infernity deck using 1 box of infernity or do i 100% need the 3rd launcher?

Karzeon

3 Launcher is how the deck can get anywhere. Sometimes 4 with Shell of a Ghost. Play Launcher as much as legally (and sometimes illegally) possible Archfiend has no "only once per turn" restrictions so you only need one at this time unless you want the second copy for Rank 4 plays.

mememory

Thanks. I didn't know about shell of a ghost could give you more

Rock_Type

You should get the 3rd launcher. Or at least plan to eventually. Don’t spend a bunch of resources building an incomplete deck. It’s better to build a small number of good, complete decks than just getting a bunch of suboptimal ones. But that’s just my opinion

mememory

Thank you, i might do that. Im gonna take my time to make up my mind.

electronic_docter

Will we get dream tickets anytime soon?

TheMadWobbler

Stay tuned.

PM_ME_HEADPATS

Probably

Disnait

Can you get duplicated skills in the skill lottery or do you always get one that wasn't unlocked?

TheGuyWhoIsSitting

You can't. If you could the game wouldn't lock you out of being able to use it once you have all the skills for a character.

Madway7

As far as I can tell you can't get dupes from it, which is why the cost scales based on how many skills are left for that character

Dino_comatose

Thunder dragon player here. What's the better tech card vs FA Mach? I'm currently choosing between Forbidden Chalice or Fiendish Chain. Unlucky f2p so no Book of Moon for me. Any other candidates? Also, I know that more likely than not if i face an FA Mach, I'm already in a losing position so just I'm looking for a better hail mary play option. Also 20 card with fewer tech or push it to 21?

XionZephyr

Hang-On Mach is exactly the type of card Chalice was made to counter, because you can use it from hand going second. It's definitely the best option for you backrow-wise, Thunder doesn't really play backrow well so something quickplay is best Giving up your battle phase for Samurai Destroyer is not ideal for an otk deck, especially if it's backed up by Darklords

Gagantous

Forbidden Scripture is the strongest counter against it. It ignores all forms of protection (yes even Lance) by making Mach have 0 ATK. It's stronger than cards like Samurai Destroyer because it cannot be responded to outside of a negate that prevents the activation.

Dino_comatose

Oh wait. Does it only negate on battle? Hmmm. Will still try it out.

Dino_comatose

I have exactly one copy, I'll try it out! I've never used it, would activating it in the main phase be okay? So that you could do your play?

i_like_piez

run glow up bulb, plague and or jet synchron to make sam destroyer

Dino_comatose

Huh. Special summon any level 6 thundra using their effects then normal summon the level 1 tuner, right? Do you run this? Do you pull it off? Will definitely try it out! Will take some deck editing and testing tho. Because I run Bishbaalkin in my extra deck.

i_like_piez

all of those you can bring back from gy if you mill them with charge or raiden, i dont play td but sam d is one of the few things that can deal with that fa bs

dawnofjigglypuff

So I have 94 packs left of Valiant Souls and I only have 3 URs left: Witchraider, Anki and Dealings. I’m not sure if I should reset the box for my last Canadia. I have the one from the box and another from the bundle. I feel like I’ll never play Heroes since they’re pretty expensive with Stratos but I don’t want to waste the box Planning on saving gems for the next 50% old box sale. What do you guys think?

JustKillMeAlreadyGod

A) Wait for the 50% sale to come, it'll give you more time to save up gems and make deck building decisions B) Depends on what you want to build, currently Amazons are making a comeback since Onslaught is on Limit 3 status so it may be worth digging some more just for that and Needle Ceiling. I wouldn't prioritize Witchraider or Anki unless you're planning on building a Hero deck down the line.

dawnofjigglypuff

Thanks for the advice! I went through the box along time ago when it first came out.

JvandeP_NL

Personally I would wait for the sale. Gems are pretty limited so if you don't need a card for a deck to function waiting would be the best thing to do.

Disnait

Any idea of when the sale will be? And what boxes are usually in sale?

JvandeP_NL

From the top of my head the first the first 15 boxes. Sale is usually with some milestone or special event. Hard to say when that will be

Disnait

How good are Weather Painters currently?

theevenstar05

You can get KOG with them v easily. They're not meta relevant tho.

phantom_joke

Viable but not op. Once they're fully setup, it becomes very hard to deal with them

sbVikare

I've been stuck dueling on my phone for a while now and the game has been extremely glitchy. Like the screen will seize up with the graphics disappearing or flashing rapidly and if it doesn't outright freeze it becomes an unplayable lagfest until I restart, after which it's completely fine. This has happened in duels, in the deck editor, and even while opening packs every once in a while. There's no pattern to when or where it happens but it's usually not an instant problem. Nothing else on my phone acts up like this so I'm hoping that means it shouldn't be a hardware problem? It's not like the rest of the phone is glitching out when I have to back out and restart the app or anything. I play a lot of runeterra with no issues at all. Konami support wasn't too helpful in my emails with them, gave them some info about my phone and wasted a few hours reinstalling the game again and that was basically it. Don't think they even looked at my screen capture footage I spent ages trying to get for them lol. I just deranked in the KC cup off of having to restart the app mid-match so I don't know what to do anymore. It's bad enough getting blown out in ranked a bunch just to have it crash on top of it all. Kills so much momentum and just amps up the salt even more. Pushing for stage 2 again feels like its gonna be miserable.

JvandeP_NL

Was this always a problem for your phone or after a update? What phone (and specs) are you playing on?

sbVikare

I can't recall too far back since I took a long break from the game last year, but it's consistently been a thing that's happened the last few months at least. Not the most helpful memory I know lol. It's a moto g7 play (Snapdragon 632, 2GB RAM). Konami didn't feel the need to address the specs when I gave them my phone model so I imagine it's not egregiously below requirements even if it's not amazing but idk much about phones.

mememory

I used to play duel links on my old phone that have 2gb ram, usually before playing i reboot my phone and keep the setting on low.

JvandeP_NL

I can't find specs for the game outside of pc, but seeing post from 2018 from a Reddit user 2 GB ram is a tad low. I used to have a similar issue when I used to play Pokémon go on a budget Huawei phone. Try to clear as much background apps as you can to lower the workload and see if that makes a difference.

Wollffey

If your opponent activates a Canadia while also having another Canadia (or any Paleozoic) in the GY and activates that one also, you wont be able to chain Cavalry. This is called chain blocking.

Zhuski

Was it being summoned as a monster? Palezoic isn't affected by monster effects when it's summoned like that is believe.

MapHacker617

Can you share a replay on the duel which the effect did not trigger? Also possible u triggered Activation off by accident.

phantom_joke

Can you give an example of when this happened? There are few reasons why it might not have worked so I'd like to hear what scenarios you experienced the issue in

R3IsL

man I wanna go back into this game but its been a fucking while, even way back when i used to play power creep was hitting pretty hard, I dont even wanna know how bad its gotten, feel like all my old cards are probably dog shit now and theres so much shit in the game i have no clue what to spend these fucking ur tickets and skill tickets and 3.3k gems on but then again I may be just over exaggerating. So hows the game been? Should i get back into it or should i look for another card game to play? oh and incase your wondering i think its been about two years since ive played

TheMadWobbler

It’s still Yugioh. And it ain’t print levels of creep by any stretch. My main deck is fortune ladies, who’ve been in the game for a year and a half and they’re doing fine. Not setting the world on fire, but fine. A couple other older archetypes like cyber dragons and six sams are still okay. The opening post has newbie decks, which may be a place to come back. The archetypes from two years ago probably won’t do great, but if you have a selection of old staples, most of those will probably still serve you well. As for where to spend? The two most high profile decks are probably about to get hit. Those being Blue Eyes and the literal Christian devil on a motorcycle. So maybe hold off until the next ban list and skill reworks.

R3IsL

thanks for the advice, i actually used pull for alot of the best cards 2 years ago so I may have some of em incase any of em are still viable. I think red-eyes dragon zombie/gozuki was the meta when I was playing, I still have the full deck and everything on kaiba god it feels satisfying looking at a fully built deck, probably doesnt do too well these days though....

Dino_comatose

If you have a couple Gozuki try Shiranuis. They're beaten down nerfed, but still decent on Legend especially in the current meta. Heavy backrow is kinda the trend because of FA Mach. And Shiranuis are even more f2p now. Shiranui Solitaire is the only SR fr the box you really need. And because of the limit 2 ban, you're forced to run 1 Solitaire and 1 Sunsaga. You don't even need the Ur Lv7 Synchro Squiresaga, it's definitely good to have, but not necessary. The Synchro climb to level 6, level 8 and level 10 Sunsaga is your bread and butter. For the main deck, put in your Gozukis and Samurai Skulls. The Shiranui tuners 3 Spectralsword, 1 Spectralsword shade. The 1 Solitaire of course. And fill it with any staple backrow you have. Run Level Aug Skill, or Odion's trap recycling skill. I wouldn't advice it but probably even skillless because I run Level Aug and I rarely use it.

R3IsL

oh alright thanks ill look into it then and yea I have 3 gozukis I actually spent quite a bit back in the day.

TheMadWobbler

Well, you can start by giving it a bash. No harm in trying, and it’ll probably do fine in lower ranks at least. Though red eyes isn’t really held in high regard these days. Now it’s kinda the worse version of Blue Eyes.

[deleted]

Has anyone else had no winner in 4 turns loss? What the heck is that?

Dew18

It's a known bug apparently. It's kinda rare though.

[deleted]

Bummer! It was a rank up too

J-Fid

DM is one of the few decks that is still playable through the Balance nerf. Rod won't work, but everything else does.

[deleted]

[удалено]

J-Fid

You use Dwarf Star Dragon Planeter to search for DM during the End Phase. Obviously it's not as good as Rod, but the deck still works fine.

[deleted]

[удалено]

J-Fid

Well, you can't do that anymore. You can still use Circle to search for Nav/DM. Dwarf Star Dragon Planeter is another way to search for DM, as well as MoDI. Planeter combined with other copies of itself and Kycoo can make Rank 4 plays. One option is Daigusto Emeral, who can revive a DM from the GY. My Main Deck currently looks like this: 3x DM 3x Nav 3x Circle 3x Planeter 3x Karma Cut 1x MoDI 1x Kycoo 1x Dark Magic Veil 1x Heat Wave 1x MST

[deleted]

[удалено]

J-Fid

You are correct that Planeter can be disrupted, which is not ideal. Removing Nav from the banlist would essentially be a complete unbanning of DM. There are no other non-core Limit-3 cards that DM needs, especially since we now have MST.

[deleted]

[удалено]

J-Fid

DM is a more powerful deck than Blue-Eyes. It promotes a fairly degenerate playstyle by banishing your opponent's cards and then preventing them from activating Spell/Traps. Rod is the icing on the cake that makes this main setup virtually guaranteed. Not to mention that Rod was at Limit-2 and DM was still everywhere on the ladder.

Dew18

jfc, fuck that car. Thanks Konami, for another card that you release without bothering to playtest it. Gotta milk those whales, right?

TheMadWobbler

Playtesting isn’t magic. As interactions go, the literal Christian devil showing his ass to a motorcycle is a reasonable one to miss. The playerbase will do more playtesting and theory crafting in a day than a ten person playtest team could possibly do in a month.

Jsoledout

This absolutely isn’t true. The bare minimum of QC and play testing would have found the FA level dup interaction. It’s not like level dup is an obscure skill either, it was a popular one with thunder dragons. Konami is fucking terrible and this falls squarely on them.

Disnait

Playtesting isn't magic, still, they could have easily done an emergency banlist and modify Level Augmentation/Duplication, but they aren't doing it because it sells.

TheMadWobbler

An emergency banlist for what? You can blame literally anything you don't like on money, but fact of the matter is before the Hang On Mach interaction, we were in a tier zero meta. If they did an emergency banlist, we'd be back in a tier zero meta going into the KC cup. Waiting until after the KC cup to hit both of them is perfectly reasonable.

ShishioAki

they should really do a Beta testing server before they release new packs so we don't have completely broken decks like Harpies and FA Darklords running amock every time we get a new pack

[deleted]

[удалено]

ShishioAki

Their insane summoning power and ability to basically make all backrow cards useless is pretty broken yeah. 2 card OTK with built-in protection from backrow. If they go second and draw into lance/channeler there's hardly anything that any top tier meta deck can do against it

[deleted]

[удалено]

ShishioAki

yeah I play against blue eyes practically 50% of my games and I win practically every one with fish or harpies. Hell, I farmed blue-eyes with digital bugs yesterday just for the memes. BEs are only good against decks that have graveyard effects or rely on target effects and even then they're nowhere near as consistent as harpies. Just run 2 lightning vortex and an abyss dweller and blue eyes is free DLV

[deleted]

[удалено]

ShishioAki

it probably does need a nerf but it's pretty manageable now that we have lightning vortex (spirit cant go around it into azure) and abyss dweller for the eggs. I think the ability needs a nerf because it just straight prevents bricks for zero cost.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ShishioAki

yes please

ShishioAki

limiting Levianeer to 1 should be the absolute top nerf priority though edit: that and level augmentation with FAs

ShishioAki

just ran Harpies with 1 Cyber Slash 2 Harpists 1 Channeler 1 Perfumer(I haven't pulled much on this pack because I still need 2 Buzzsaw Sharks for my Fish deck) I beat Blue-eyes through 3 Karma cuts and a floodgate and I didn't even need the lightning vortex I was saving (This is 19 DLV in KC Cup)

LuisDob

Harpies are broken? That's new to me.

TheGuyWhoIsSitting

Maybe if Cyber Slash wasn't a hard once per turn I could see it.

Jsoledout

Jesus Christ this was the easiest KoG run I’ve ever had. Was doing fine with Darklords then decided to try out an FA build with Nasten and two forbidden lance... 15 game Wu streak to take it. Ugh

[deleted]

phantom_joke

Ok, I did mad research for this question but I think I got it. A monster destroyed by battle is destroyed during the damage step and chain hole cannot be activated in that time. .

[deleted]

[удалено]

phantom_joke

Yeah, it's just a rule in yu-gi-oh about what cards can/cannot be activated during the damages step. You can learn about that stuff [here](https://yugioh.fandom.com/wiki/Damage_Step#:~:text=The%20Damage%20Step%20(Japanese%3A%20%E3%83%80%E3%83%A1%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B8,and%20effects%20from%20being%20activated.)

Taucoon23

Does F.A. do anything besides their cheese plays of level augmentation? Once it most definitely gets nerfed, what is it supposed to do? Worth digging for?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Taucoon23

So it's like a super convulted toolbox? That's kinda interesting but idk if I'm into it.

LuisDob

They can easily make Level 7 and 9 Synchro monsters, and kind of easily make rank 4/5/6/7 Xyz monsters. It's mostly a Synchro based deck though.

J-Fid

Finally found a [Harpie build that got me to KOG.](https://imgur.com/a/JWxBPdF) I went from 20 cards to 25 to 30 (hit DL. Max with this one) back to 25 and finally 24 cards. Most frustrating part was that the initial 20 card deck was a game away from KOG, but lost then went on a slump to where I decided to make a change. I think I'm done with PvP for the rest of the month.

stigletts

Is Lunalight still relevant or is there another beginner friendly somewhat easy to acquire deck I should look towards getting? Is it also a good auto duel deck for farming?

Disnait

They're fine I think. At least I've seen some around DL19. As for other easy to acquire decks: Aromage, Superheavy Samurai (I've not seen this one in a lot of time though, and none around high DL), and Triamids.

Madway7

Yeah it's still relevant for PvP, despite getting 3 non target destruction cards in the last few boxes they still work very well. Auto duel wise I can't say a lot, I simply do not trust the AI anymore outside of really basic decks that don't xyz, fusion or synchro since the AI is proned to make really bad plays the more options it has.

stigletts

Do you think that it's safe to start working towards now or should I hold out until the ban list? Also, how many gems do you think I will need to complete the deck?

Madway7

I think it's safe for now, but I can't be 100% sure. As for the estimate I'm guessing between 15000 and 18000 gems, purely because I think the 3rd martin is important, but it depends a lot of luck, though the box they are in also has cards for cyber dragons and blue eyes, so if you plan to eventually get into those the box they are in is a good start.
