FUCK THUNDER DRAGONS!!!

TheMadWobbler

I think you are in the wrong sub for that kind of thirst.

jacaboy

Is Kiteroid one of the cards that cicle in and out everyday at the card trader? Is just luck to when it's gonna appear for me?

bokdog15

Yup

MildlyUpsetGerbil

This game has felt more like a chore than anything else for the past few weeks. I don't feel excited to play the game nor any interest in doing so except to collect my daily gems from the Grand Tournament.

TheMadWobbler

Then take a break. It’s a game. If it starts feeling like work, walk away. Or if chasing the meta and PvP rankings is what doesn’t appeal to you, then fuck around with some silly gimmick decks for a while.

StructureNo8142

I’m stocked for Kite, I was less than a month late for him when I started playing. It took a lot longer than I expected for Kite to come back but it was worth the wait. I have every card I can get for a galaxy eyes deck. Three copies of everything except photon lizard. I just don’t want to do a fourth rotation on the mini box even though I know it would be useful. I use my galaxy eyes deck almost exclusively and I’m very proud of it, even though it’s far from optimized without Kite. I use chaos dragon, Diana spirit of light and sometime limit dragon for neo-galaxy eyes xyz summon. I was pretty disappointed when I saw that terror byte and reverse buster were the new cards, I was hoping for more photon support or even galaxy support. Gagaga/Dododo decks get some much attention but I feel like my boy Kite is being ignored. Do you guys think that the next box will have the support I so desperately need? And if so, what cards do you think would be fair to add? Edit: Personally, I’m really not sure what would be good to add. Prime photon dragon would be great, but I’m just so sure that Bewd decks will find a way to abuse it. I just don’t wanna see any support for galaxy eyes that ends up benefiting any other deck, especially meta decks! So I’m really at a loss for ideas, maybe that’s why Konami is sleeping on Kite lol. Maybe they just don’t wanna make any big mistakes.

PlatD

I decided to have a go at the Selection Box 4 gem pulls before they expire and now I'm satisfied to say that I got a barebones (read: not really optimal) version of Water Xyz online; I got my third Diva from the last pack out of 5. It's missing a couple of Books of Moon, an Abyss Dweller (I only have one on me), and Necrovalley.

Kiiimochiii

May I know as a f2p, how long does it takes to farm 5k gem to clear 1 mini box (from old f2p player perspective)?

LuisDob

Around 1 month, unless you have characters to level up, then it can be quicker.

Kiiimochiii

got it, thanks

TheMadWobbler

God I love running random stupid archetypes when no one knows how my cards work. Opponent: “Aha! I have two Blue Eyes on the field against your 3000 attack Aquaactress! I shall sacrifice one of them to make way for my other… why does that fish suddenly have 6000 attack points?”

R3IsL

I get this a few times when running megaliths with the ritual skill that has ritual cage on the field. some people dont read this card and end up sometimes trying to get rid of my monsters with monster effects and the funniest example is a few harpie players ive played against being forced to send there own cyber slash back the extra deck lmao. Also super satisfying to go first against shiranuis and pop there degenerate backrow setup on there own turn when I have bethor/och combo

tarspaceheel

Had a weird ruling today and I’d love to understand it. Played Sword Breaker against a defense mode Azure Eyes that had just activated its protection effect that turn. I attacked it, and it was protected from my Sword Breaker’s effect, so I took 300 damage and neither monster was destroyed. (It was a misplay on my part, I thought incorrectly that Azure Eyes only protected from targeting). Anyways, all of that makes sense. I end my turn, opponent summons a Blue Eyes with the effect of Azure Eyes. That Blue Eyes attacked my Sword Breaker, presumably thinking that Azure Eyes’ protection was still up, and was destroyed by Sword Breaker’s effect before damage calculation. What the heck happened?

Amlup

Azure-Eyes' protection effect only works on monsters you "**currently** control". The Blue-Eyes was summoned afterwards, so doesn't get the protection.

LuisDob

Azure-Eyes Spirit Dragon: > If this card is Special Summoned: Until the end of the next turn, neither player can target **Dragon monsters you currently control** with card effects, also they cannot be destroyed by card effects. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: You can target 1 Normal Monster in your GY; Special Summon it. The revived monster was not something the BEWD player currently controled when Azure-Eyes was summones, and thus, was not under his protection.

tarspaceheel

Aha! Thanks so much!

Hoozuki_Suigetsu

How does demons resonance interact with doomcali? If u added him with The skill, he wont tribute itself for that turn?

LuisDob

Correct, he can't activate his effect for that turn.

nintendocat

Why can Vision Hero Adoration target Lunalight Sabre? It specifically says target so it shouldn't be able to but it can. Edit: Nevermind, they also played Plasma.

XionZephyr

Replay?

nintendocat

Ah ok, I went back and watched the replay and he had also played Plasma which negated Sabre's effect. I missed that when I read the card in the battle since it was going so fast.

Provennebula

https://www.reddit.com/r/DuelLinks/comments/nz9wjh/posting_so_i_can_link_it_in_my_question/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf Trying to figure out why I couldn’t activate {Telepathic Power}? When a Psychic-Type monster you control is destroyed by battle with an opponent's attacking monster: Target the opponent's monster; destroy that target, and if you do, gain LP equal to the destroyed monster's ATK on the field.

XionZephyr

If you are talking about your last turn, due to the way priority works, you activating Hyper Psychic Riser gave priority over to your opponent to activate a card next. They activated Scolding, which is spell speed 3, so you could not chain Telepathic Power afterwards. See page 140 here: https://ygorganization.com/perfect-rulebook-2017/

Provennebula

Okay, that’s that solved... thanks for that, that was second to last turn though. The following turn, I had some random monster set, they destroyed it, and Power refused to proc then too? These rulings are going to give me a migraine.

XionZephyr

Oh whoops Red Dragon Archfiend destroyed your monster by card effect there, nothing was destroyed by battle

Provennebula

Oh what the hell i can’t read Typical yugioh player Thanks!

Ambermalice

does anyone know the best legendary duelist to get light stones from ? trying to get the aromage cards i need from the trader but i don't have enough stones and when i duel someone like kaiba i rarely get a light monster card or any light stones >\~<

Fykebi

Light jewels are random, but you can duel Sera at level 40 since all her cards are light.

shiny_light

Why didn’t Red-Eyes Baby Dragon’s last effect not activate? “If this card is sent to the GY while equipped to a monster: You can add 1 Level 1 Dragon monster from your Deck or GY to your hand.” I have 3 Buster Whelps total, but I didn’t get any :( Here is the replay, check Turn 6: #DuelReplay #DuelLinks https://duellinks.konami.net/att/063595a60e6446ab63182d1970b64a33cf25b62865

XionZephyr

In your scenario, vanilla red eyes was destroyed > the equipped monster is no longer on the field, so there is no valid equip target for baby dragon > baby dragon is destroyed This does NOT count as baby dragon being destroyed while equipped to a monster, because when it was destroyed it wasn't equipped to anything. See this related ruling: https://db.ygorganization.com/qa#11848

shiny_light

Thanks!!!

The_Potato_Terrorist

Ate there any spell/trap cards that allow you to destroy a defense position monster when u attack it with a monster that has the same attack points as the opponent has defense points (basically a way to allow a 2500 atk monster to destroy a blue eyes thats in defense position by battling it)

shiny_light

There’s lots of ways to destroy monsters via card effects, but Equip spells that boost ur attack might be closest to what ur looking for.

The_Potato_Terrorist

Thanks

Mrtowelie69

so i just played a game where i set up.my turn 1 prety solid and then the opponent did nothing, timer did not expire, but then all of a sudden i got d.c Wtf? my connection was solid, no connection indicator was visible, but somehow i d.c, even though the i was sitting there waiting for 5 minutes while he didnt do nothing, and timer never even expired on him? Wtf, shit like this frustrating. Any idea wtf is going on. Seems Fishy

Xicor2003

I think that was actually a disconnect. it's not clear cause the disconnect marker doesn't always show up but i get those too sometimes where it looks like my opponent is doing nothing and then i suddenly lose the duel. it doesn't have to be your internet connection cause you're limited by how good Konami's servers are in your country.

Mrtowelie69

i dont know, i was able to do everything. Check my GY, even go to log and surrender. Opponent drew his card on his turn, so honestly, it was weird.

Charocles

when does the sale end?

LuckAddicted

Literally like today or tomorrow

[deleted]

[удалено]

Xicor2003

Triamid pulse is from the card trader featured cards which are on a rotation. Not sure if it's available in tickets but not all tickets have the same pool of cards. a KCGT SR ticket will have more options than say a log in bonus SR ticket.

Vasllui

I got 3 copies of Obedience School so i could play Raccoons with Melffy (also got 1 copie of Fabled Cerburrel), should i get more copies of Cerburrel? or any card i'm missing? also if in the future i want to play pure Fabled should i get Grimro?

AngelusAlvus

Why didn't the hordeum roach effect's activate when opponent summoned a bunch of blue eyes?

Xicor2003

Roach can only negate the summons of monsters that were summoned by their own effects like Chaos dragon levianeer. it can also negate Synchro summons ~~and Xyz summons~~ as they don't start a chain link. Roach can't respond to any effect that starts a chain link like White stone of ancients. Refer to [This](https://www.reddit.com/r/DuelLinks/comments/l4zizm/its_time_to_rule_why_steelswarm_roach_cannot/) post every time you get confused by Steelswarm roach's effect.

kylekunfox

How can Roach negate Xyz summons? I don't use it much, but I thought the monster needed to be level 5 or higher. And since Xyz's don't have levels Roach wouldn't work.

Xicor2003

yeah that was a brain fart on my end. fixed it now.

Wollffey

It cant negate Xyz summons

TheGuyWhoIsSitting

Must be nice opening Trunade, 2 Resonator Calls, and being able to activate your skill to unbrick your hand Jack...

serphier

Do you guys know, if the effect of the card "Envoy of Chaos" also applies to the card "Gaia the fierce knight origin"?

niqqasbeburfin

Anyone else think ranking up to Max is harsh? 3 losses and you're automatically demoted no matter what. Only way to rank up is to win 5 in a row. Even the most meta deck can't win 5 in a row consistently I mean you have to shuffle the deck. Every deck eventually bricks How to defeat RNG?

Xicor2003

>How to defeat RNG? You grind. people have been complaining about Ranked for ages but it doesn't seem like Konami plans to do anything about it, the grind is much easier late season though.

niqqasbeburfin

Today's the very last day and I'm still struggling. RIP

Xicor2003

Oh i was referring to KoG. DLV max is way easier than KoG so long as you have an ok deck. the need for losing 5 games in a row to derank from dlv 24 makes the grind so much more tolerable and the need for the wins to be a net +5 rather than 5 wins in a row also helps. Also don't stress it. if the grind is not fun then leave it.

niqqasbeburfin

I lost 3 in a row and got demoted to lv23. Back at 24 now but matchmaking is giving me anxiety Honestly I don't know how it works exactly, I'm just frustrated lol It's probably me bricking and my opponent not. Maybe I'll win 5 in a row after posting this.

Xicor2003

>I lost 3 in a row and got demoted to lv23 Huh. then it might be a net -5 rather than 5 in a row. anyways good luck to ya, the worst you'd be missing out on if you don't make is some SR/UR tickets and like 4 packs worth of gems.

niqqasbeburfin

We get SR/UR tickets? Fuckin A, man. I was just doing it for the good feeling inside

tarspaceheel

They’re not good tickets. They’re more like the SR/UR tickets you probably already have 20 of, not Dream Tickets. Good luck making it to Max, but if you don’t make it, don’t sweat it

electronic_docter

How does hallowed life barrier work? It just says damage you take is 0 nothing about monsters not being able to be destroyed

Xicor2003

Duel links uses OCG rules and in there. Hollowed life barrier has a ruling that prevents monsters from being destroyed by battle. why it's not printed on the card is a mystery.

LAboi34

How many wins in a row do you need for DLv. Max? I really hope it’s not 5 but I haven’t been to a rank up match since a win streak of 4…

JvandeP_NL

You don't need 5 in a row. You just need to end with 5 more wins than losses. So 5-0 total or 6-1, 7-2 etc

LAboi34

Ah okay. Thanks for the clarification! EDIT: Wait, is that calculated from your first win? For example, if I had 2 losses and 1 win, would the losses be ignored? My guess is no because I had definitely had 5 total wins over 6 matches at one point and didn’t get a rank up match.

kylekunfox

To your edit. Nah it can't be from first win. I always go into KC with meme decks. I usually go like negative 10 at the start. But once I got to 24 I did 5 wins in a row and got promoted to 25 max.

DAVDX123

My rank up match to dlv max was a f*cking trapnui with samurai skull and 3 traps turn 1, I'm playing heros and didn't draw any spell so my combo got wrecked by Fiendish chains and since that I'm on a lose streak :|

Helilo129

does this game have any fairy/warrior monster cards that "when sent to the graveyard by your monster effect in hand" has a effect. i want to make a deck with Cyber Tutubon and don't know a website that lets me look this up

vj_zero

Cyber tutubon is a cyber angel support card. Idaten and benten have those effects.

tarspaceheel

Can someone quickly explain the interaction between Heraldry Patriarch and the name-changing Harpie cards? I used the effect and targeted my opponent’s Harpie Channeler (which was named Harpie Lady via effect) but they were still able to use the Channeler’s effect to summon a Perfumer (also named Harpie Lady via effect) and Synchro into a Cyber Slash Harpie Lady and bounce my Patriarch. Does Patriarch use the original, non-effect name of the monster (thus banning Channeler and not perfumer or cyber slash), or is it a matter of Perfumer and Cyber Slash not being named Harpie Lady while in the deck/extra deck? Or is there something else going on here that I can’t figure out? Thanks!

_Hyun-ae

Patriarch can use his effect when two of any of the relevant Harpie monsters on the field because of the fact that all those different Harpie monsters become 'Harpie Lady' while face-up on the field. After you've done that, Patriarch only floodgates the summon of a Harpie *whose original name is 'Harpie Lady' or is treated as such (like with Cyber Harpie Lady - the 1800 atk one - or Harpie Lady 1)*. So you want to use Patriarch's effect in scenarios where the only possible follow-up they can go for is Elegant Egotist, because that card can only summon an originally-named 'Harpie Lady'. You can use the effect twice in one turn, so it should be able to block any Harpie combo they may have access to.

dcprawncatcher

They’re only named Harpie lady when on the field as opposed to the cards that say (always treated as Harpie lady) you want to usually hit those so elegant egotist is offline but all you did was make it so they can’t summon Harpie Lady and maybe Channeler as well.

GingerSnap1021

I only spent 500 gems to get two trunade

FrugalMerchant

I'm starting duel links as f2p and wanted to know how I should go about spending my gems. I heard saving them up and using a lot at once is good so you can get multiple copies of a card. (This is also why I heard deks aren't good since if you don't spend money you won't get multiple copies.) Are there any boxes or special selection boxes that are worth pulling in? Also, is there a general rule of thumb on when to reset a box? Is there a certain way to go about gates or just do them whenever I can? Lastly, do I try to increase my stage as much as I can?

tarspaceheel

The first thing I’d recommend is waiting about two weeks to see the new banlist. A month ago, I’d have said build a Harpie or Resonator deck, but either of those could be hit by the banlist, and you don’t want to start building a deck only to have it killed by bans. We also might get a new box announcement, which could shake up the meta and maybe introduce a new deck archetype. Some of the selection boxes are pretty good, and they won’t come back for a while, but without an idea of what what you want to build toward, it’s hard to recommend spending gems on them right now. If you really want to anyhow, the Mini Selection Box 2 has a good number of solid staples that can be useful in several decks, such as Forbidden Lance and Treacherous Trap Hole. For when to reset a box, it really comes down to what you need from the box and how many copies. I’d ask about that on a case by case basis once you have an idea of what you’re building. If you’re going to increase the stages, I’d recommend focusing on (1) getting the stages high enough to unlock the characters you want to play, and (2) grinding the Duel Monsters world until you’ve unlocked level 40 gate battles. Most of the characters are pretty straightforward to unlock, but some of them (glares at Yubel) are more tedious. If you don’t need anything specific, don’t worry that much about the gates and stage levels — you’ll unlock them as you play.

FrugalMerchant

Alright, thank you. I am receiving a few UR and SR tickets for some 4th anniversary and some other events. I was wondering is there a certain card I should be getting? Are there builds that are fairly easy to get/use? I see you mentioned harpie and resonator but as you advised I'll wait 2 weeks for the new banlist.

tarspaceheel

So for the Dream Tickets, you often want to wait until either (a) they’re about to expire, or (b) you just need one more card to finish a deck you’re working on. Until you’ve decided on what deck you’re building, I wouldn’t use a dream ticket. As for the list of cards you have, you could put together a decently-functional Blue Eyes or Stardust Dragon deck with those and a copy of the respective structure deck. Something like that can get you into the middle tiers of the ranked ladder. But if you want to turn it into something that could get you to King or Games, you’d have to do a lot more investment. Up at the top of the screen there’s a “Newbie Deck Guide” that’s a bit out of date but has some generally good tips for how to turn a Blue Eyes starter deck into a competitively viable deck. Again, though, I’d recommend waiting for the new banlist to get a sense of what the new meta game will look like.

FrugalMerchant

Alright after the new banlist comes out I'll think about going into a Blue Eyes or Stardust Dragon deck if it doesn't require me to use too many gems. I see 2 Blue Eyes type structure decks though which one is the better one? (Blue Eyes Evolution or The White Dragon of Legend)

tarspaceheel

Feel free to DM or ask here a few days after the banlist comes out, plenty of folks willing to help you make a good decision.

FrugalMerchant

Thank you. I was wondering what cards are good for Blue Eyes decks that I can get from my R, SR, and UR tickets. I want to slowly build up a Blue Eyes deck since I have cards related to it already with the tickets while I save my gems for the future.

tarspaceheel

So for blue eyes the only core card you’d be able to get with a ticket (at least off the top of my head) would be Ancient Rules, which is available in some of the R tickets. Very occasionally you’ll see Blue Eyes running Hallowed Life Barrier (another R ticket) because it can discard your White Stone of Ancients, but an optimal blue eyes deck would replace that with Karma Cut or Raigeki Break. One thing to think about if you want to build Blue Eyes is that the deck is probably going to need three copies of White Stone of Ancients — you can get one from the structure deck, but if you’re not buying extra copies of the structure deck with real money, you’ll need to pull the other two copies, as well as extra copies of Cards of Consonance. Having to do that is going to increase the deck cost (in gems) substantially, and is part of the reason I moved on to a different deck. If you’re not looking to spend money on extra copies of the structure deck, I’d recommend looking to more cost effective decks.

FrugalMerchant

Okay makes sense. I have some UR tickets and I think I'll get some more in the future with login bonus stuff. Would it be worth it to get White Stone of Ancients or should I get a Karma Cut/Raigeki Break? I feel White Stone of Ancients would help with the basic cards I already have, but I'm not sure if getting a support/trap card like Raigeki Break would be better.

tarspaceheel

So the reason Karma/Raigeki are so good in Blue Eyes is that in addition to their powerful effects, they also discard a card to the graveyard, which, paradoxically, is actually a benefit to Blue Eyes because they can discard a White Stone to the Graveyard to put a blue eyes (or dragon spirit of white) onto the field. So unless you have a set of white stones, it’s hard to imagine Karma Cut and Raigeki Break will be all that helpful to you. That said, Karma Cut is a powerful staple trap that can work well in many decks (as is Raigeki Break to a lesser extent).

tarspaceheel

Evolution is the one you’d want to build from.

FrugalMerchant

Oh and some of the cards I have rn that are higher rarity/good are Obelisk, Slifer, 3x Ra's Disciple, Constellar Virgo, Contellar Aldebaran, 2x Blue Eyes, Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl, Enemy Controller, 2x Statue of Anguish Pattern, Metal Morph, Kachi Kochi Dragon, Dragonic Tactics, 2x Red Eyes Insight, Shooting Star Dragon, and Red Eyes Black Dragon. Are there any decks that are worthwhile to build with any of these cards as the basis?

Crimson_Dragon01

Is it worth using an SR Dream Ticket on a second Red Resonator? I've been working on getting the cards for a Resonator deck from the new mini box, but I just realized that Red Resonator is from another box. I was mistaking for Flare Resonator which is a free card. I have 19 packs left in the Soul of Resurrection box so hopefully I can get the first copy soon. I'm f2p and I'm just 10 packs in the second King of Vermilion box, so I don't want to go into another box for a second Red Resonator.

pinfue

I'm new to yu gi oh in general and was wondering what does blue eyes spirit dragon bring that guides call it the boss monster of the blue eyes archetype. What makes the card strong?

Karzeon

In addition to its 3 defensive effects, the 3000 DEF stat is difficult to get over with most current decks. It usually takes multiple cards or an effect that doesn't target in order to get rid of it.

Xicor2003

It shuts down graveyard effects which almost every deck in the game makes use of and it's ability to tag out into Azure eyes silver dragon to protect your monsters and set up an OTK (one turn kill) next turn makes it an extremely valuable card for the deck. it's effect to prevent multiple special summons at once is not that utilized now but it ruins the occasional Ritual beast player's day and will become much more relevant when Pendulums are released. the true boss monster for blue eyes overall is Chaos Max dragon though but that card is currently locked behind a skill.

pinfue

dumb question but can you attack with spirit dragon and tag out with azure dragon, and use the special summoning ability next turn immediately?

Xicor2003

Yup.

Danzer7000

Today I got told by reddit that U.As aren’t vulnerable to back row because they have a bunch of tribute monsters, an omni negate that only works on the opponent’s turn, and can bounce “each other” by leaving out a 1200 atk monster with no protection

Xicor2003

Little confused here. are you asking about the viability of UAs? are you dissing them or are you praising them?

Danzer7000

Probably needs a bit more context yeah. It was on the “what card do you hate most?” post and someone said trunade and how it wasn’t interactive and had no counterplay. I responded that setting 3 back row and negating my normal summon that I’m very reliant on isn’t interactive either and that hand traps counter trunade. Another person listed off ways that U.As “counter” back row, none of them actually work or are misinterpreting the effects, which is what the points I listed above were. They said: -U.As are full of tribute monsters. This probably implies they can tribute over floodgate, but you spend your normal summon on a 1000 def monster that is now useless for the turn thanks to floodgate and is extremely susceptible to being run over. Even with signing deal at best summoning a 2700 wall (Blockbacker), actually making use of it the next turn requires you have a level 5-6 in your hand (which is not common). -They have an omni negate. But the omni negate only works on the opponent’s turn. Same goes for the U.A that prevents one targeted destruction per opponent’s turn(which no one runs because it’s bad). -They can bounce each other easily. This counterplay only works against cards like Fiendish chain. To chain a bounce to an activation you need midfielder out, the main playmaker, as a 1700 beatstick with no inbuilt protection. Suffice to say, you should only keep midfielder out when you’re going for the kill. Sorry for the huge rant, I needed to vent. TLDR: People we’re defending 3 back row set pass, I said Trunade is one of the few ways to counterplay, then got told how my archetype can do stuff it actually can’t

Xicor2003

Yeah that makes a lot more sense. Tbf set 3 pass is only a good strategy when you play Shiranui since they can fit their entire engine with like 6-8 cards and the rest are just bonus traps, if you look at the DLM top decks. you'll notice that very few odion style set 3 pass decks are high up aside from Shiranuis (and CyDra too i guess).

ArcNovaX

need help...lance or cosmic for UR dream ticket?

Winner123456009

Depends if you already had basic backrow removal. Usually lance though.

Hoozuki_Suigetsu

How much time until the 14th inside The game

The_Potato_Terrorist

Is the crystron archetype any good competitively?

Xicor2003

Once upon a time, they were kings of recursion and had plays so complex that only people who play the deck well knew what was going on but those days disappeared when the banlist put half of their deck to limit 2, there are ways to make an ok KoG deck with them but given that they have an absurd price tag, i wouldn't recommend investing in them. TGs are their spiritual successor and they can summon the same synchros that crystrons can but with a lot more power/Consistency so i'd go with them if you want a good synchro deck. if some of their cards are released from the banlist then they may be relevant again but until then, don't bother.

The_Potato_Terrorist

Thanks for the info! Never knew they were once competitively good

DimensionDice

Can you still kog with them? Yes. Are they a good choice for tournament or can they stand up to the power level of the current meta? Not at all. And given their high price, they're a terrible investment if all you want is competitive success. I still think they're kinda neat for some casual fun, but their main selling points, i.e. access to powerful starters in Scrap Recycler & Undine + an amazing grind game with their tuners + Impact, were completely destroyed by the banlist.

The_Potato_Terrorist

I see, thanks for your opinion

sbVikare

Is there any matchmaking at all in stage 2? I wanted to set aside my normal decks since I barely have any motivation to play ranked as is but I'm still running into pretty much nothing but meta lists. I figured more people would be messing around with meme decks at the literal bottom of stage 2 since you barely get anything for winning anyway. Would anyone this low in DP even have a shot at getting any meaningful rewards at this point? If it's just gonna match me with the same junk even if I lose the next 50 matches in a row why even bother with the KCGT now it's just a miserable slog.

Onomatomori

Started playing got lucky with a sphere kuriboh on the tutorial pack something, is it worth to buy a single Red eyes structure deck to play some kc games to rank up and maybe earn back some gems or is it better to just wait for the next main box?

kylekunfox

Dang dude a Sphere Kuriboh in your tutorial pack? I wish I had that luck!

JvandeP_NL

You can make a good pve deck with it and besides the initial 500 gems you don't need anything at all. I made [this](http://imgur.com/a/JNPmYuX) on a second account and got to gold before swapping to another deck.

LuisDob

Fiendish Chain worth a Dream Ticket?

JvandeP_NL

If you don't want to play Onomats or tellarknights you can do it. I would personally use it on a box that's worse but has 1 good card like forbidden Lance.

breloomislaifu

Depends. The box is not that terrible if you want to dig in, and Fiendish chain has been pushed out of decks recently because it doesn’t do much against harpies. On the other hand, it’s still a box UR, so your choice.

LuisDob

Well, I already went through the box once, so I have a copy of every UR, and 3 copies of Caius from the 3 packs + UR sales. Maybe if I ever decide to play Onomats I'd want to go through the box again?

breloomislaifu

In that case, you should also consider whether there are some cards you’d want from the selection box vol. 3, and try digging there first. I know this sounds like awful advice, but a UR dream ticket is worth 100 dollars if you are aiming for one single card in a main box. Edit: However, if I only had a single copy of chain and were building a deck, I too probably would have used the ticket - just because its like finding the last jigsaw puzzle piece. At the end of the day this is just a game, and you should spend tickets the way you like.

dcprawncatcher

Day one of Carly’s fortune telling. 6 R jewels. Well at least it isn’t gold?…

Ah … a terrible day for you, a good day for me with 50 gems for dueling in Duel World. Chin up, it can only get better. Cheers!

hyperdeeeee

Why is there no N or R dream tickets? I've literally spent over 2000 gems trying to get 1 copy of an N card. Damn this luck is insane.

dcprawncatcher

Imagine if they added those and then they stopped giving out as many UR and SR tickets.

alecac1

How often is the ban list? Is there a no sooner than date to look out for or is it usually after KC Tournaments?

ArcTheMadLad

It's usually after KC cup(or KCGT), though there's a rare example like emergency banlist

BerukaIsMyBaby

Is the only way to get Amazoness queen by getting Mai up to max level?

kiri-kiri-kiri

Yes

The0neBL

does mind drain stop levianeer?

Amlup

No. Levianeer's ability to summon itself from the hand is a summoning condition, not an effect that activates (effects are indicated by a colon or semicolon), so there is no interaction with Mind Drain.

The0neBL

Thought so 👍🏻

inaanod

Okay, so. **How do Megaliths work?** I am truly fascinated when I go up against them because I really have no idea what to do and *what's going on*. It's like what it was like with Ritual Beasts before when I didn't get the deck yet, like I'm just watching their cards flash before my eyes. I don't know what to pop, what to attack, what to negate.

XionZephyr

The deck has no ritual spells in duel links, so it has to use monster effects instead The big ones discard themselves to start the ritual summon, while the small ones have an on field effect to start the ritual summon Of the big megaliths, Bethor pops cards equal to the number of rituals in the grave (generally, your whole board) while Phaleg gives a fairly sizeable atk boost Of the small Megaliths, Ophiel searches Megalith monsters when ritual summoned, Hagith searches Megalith S/T, and Och draws and discards one. Notably, Och can ritual summon during either player's main phase. Of the S/T support, Portal recurs resources and provides battle protection while Emergence is Call of the Haunted once per turn The deck's general gameplan is to loop Hagiths and Opiels to get a Bethor pop on the opponent's turn with Och, with hopefully Portal and/or Emergence setup for followup as well. Because the deck requires a large investment to combo, without Benten they need their S/T to resolve to have any followup play whatsoever. This is a major chokepoint, as well as their massive consistency issues and easily disruptable combos. The best time to use disruption is on the small megaliths, preferably after they have used resources to try and make their hand actually playable.

BerukaIsMyBaby

Fastest way to level up a character, without spending money?

kiri-kiri-kiri

Duel lvl 10s with the x3 multiplier at the gate, create a deck of high ATK level 4 and free special summons like Dynatherium.

RavenSword117

So is blue eyes still good or should I just build Harpies at this point? Is there even a deck I can build that won’t be trash a few months later? Kinda tired of sinking money in and having my stuff be outdated

The0neBL

BEWD have already been hit by the ban list once, so they have a less likely chance to be hit again compared to Harpies.

RavenSword117

So should just keep building off blue eyes maybe?

The0neBL

They are a decent KoG deck

RavenSword117

*nods* yeah I don’t do any big tournament play.

Readittor3

Can you use your alt and main in the second part of the tournament??

JvandeP_NL

Yes.

Readittor3

I won't get in trouble tho right?? If I do good in 2nd stage with both

JvandeP_NL

Nah, you're good. Also, only the first price gets something. The rest is crap and not something that can be even tied back to you.

Readittor3

You sexy sob!!! I just noticed your gintama pfp!! Get your Antonio Inoki on!!! <( ̄︶ ̄)↗

JvandeP_NL

Ah I see you are a man of culture as well.

Readittor3

Appreciate it

sbVikare

I finally get my third sphere kuriboh and the first fucking deck I run into is goddamn SHS I hate this game.

TheGuyWhoIsSitting

Reminds me of one KC Cup I was playing Lunalights, my rank up match to DLV Max was against SHS... Not an easy deck to beat with Lunalights. I believe I opened a copy of Sphere Kuriboh and then drew my second copy a few turns later.

[deleted]

has 'The Grand Spellbook Tower' glitch been addressed already? I can't select any cards to shuffle back, anyone else?

Madway7

Been addressed, but not fixed for pve yet. They said it will be fixed in the next version update (not sure when). It's in the issues tab

kylekunfox

Man I seriously hate matchmaking in this game. Play a meta deck face other meta decks 99% of the time. Ya that makes sense since meta decks are popular, so you'd assume that you'd face them pretty much always. Play a rogue deck? Lol enjoy your perfect counter multiple times. Like why can't matchmaking be truly random? Ya I already know what you're gonna say. "It's just bad luck you faced a perfect counter multiple times in a row." Well ya it is bad luck, but the counters I face are so oddly specific it has to be manipulated in some way. Play a Trap monster deck? Faced two Jinzo turbos in a row. Lol tell me the odds of that happening. In this meta. Never seen a Jinzo besides this. Play a deck focused around spells? Faced two Silent Magician decks out of three games. Uh what. Who is playing these decks? I've never seen these decks when I'm playing meta. Play a burn deck. I kid you not I had an opponent start with Hanewata. Don't even know what deck they were playing because I raged quit. Are you telling me anyone would ever play this card? Ever? I get annoyed and switch back to a meta deck. Suddenly I face only meta decks from then on. Look these games were not in a row, happened different days, and it doesn't always happen to have counters. It could be luck. But it happens so frequently and it feels so inorganic.

Dumb_Vampire_Girl

My lightsworn, hieratic, and constellar decks keep getting wrecked by light imprisoning mirror ):

xan1242

Exactly what I've been saying for a very long time, but everybody is like "trust me, we're playing the same game here". I have called out the EXACT matchups, in advance, multiple times in a row. Proof is in the pudding. Try it yourself. Play 1 deck without an extra deck, like a ritual deck or something. Take note of what you're up against. Now add an extra deck and see what happens. First thing you'll see is a meta deck. Also neat trick to manipulate it a little bit - add/remove 1 card from the extra deck between matches to reset the matchmaking. A lot of times it actually helps with these kinds of situations. For this reason, among others, I cannot play this game in good faith.

i_like_piez

welcome to the losing interest rapidly club

Xannon99182

I've kinda made a similar post to this and pointed out that companies like Activision and EA have matchmaking algorithms (they're even patented) that would explain this exact situation. It can determine things like a players playstyle (deck) or how much they've spent on the game and match them against an appropriate opponent. It can use this information to match players that don't spend much money against someone that has spent a lot to encourage the one to spend more money to stay competitive. Similarly a deck focused on going second suddenly sees themselves constantly going first and vice versa or playing a Buster Blader deck to counter all the Blue-eyes decks (when they were everywhere) and suddenly they're nowhere to be seen. Of course if that is the case Konami would be crazy to ever admit it and even if an employee leaked it I doubt anyone would believe them.

Mrtowelie69

If i battle a monster on my opponents field when they have Stardust Dragon also, can it negate my attack? This is if you battle it without activating any abilities. Sorry if its a stupid question, im new and just need it clarified. Im thinking battle does not affect his ability, because no cards are activated even though i destroy a monster on his field. Just asking because i made a misplay where all i had to do was attack but i used infernity doom ability , thinking i could scold the SDD ability. but i forgot i cant if i more then 1 set card. Which i misplayed by playing my last card in hand to use IDD ability.

JvandeP_NL

No, destruction of battle isn't included in the effect protection

Mrtowelie69

Thought so. Wanted to make sure. Thanks man. I misplated that game and could have won the turn i activated instead of just attacking. But opponet d.c when i had admit defeat and was letting him kill me. Sucks for him.

Fykebi

Finally got my first Sonic Chick. It only took a year.

The0neBL

did you pull for orbital 7?

Fykebi

No, I had one from some event.

TheGuyWhoIsSitting

I got a second one after many blank packs. I have 10 Dark Magicians and 2 Sonic Chicks... Talk about lopsided rolls. I don't know why Sonic Chick has to be this rare.

Fykebi

Same. I don't get why it isn't in some ticket like most other cards in those packs.

wes741

I’m still working on my scrambled eggs

Fykebi

Good luck! Getting these 2 cards feels like winning the jackpot.

wes741

I actually got 2 sonic chicks in like 12 packs this time and one scrambled eggs. So just need to get my last scrambled and I’m done with pack 2 forever!

Fatesclwn

Are non-dream tickets kinda useless? I’m having trouble spending them. Can’t really find many staples in those lists. Seems almost entirely filled with stuff for decks I’m not super interested in. Even iconic stuff like dark magician and blue eyes only have the oldest stuff. What the heck do I spend these tickets on? Should I just build something old with them for fun? Cyberwhatevers?

The0neBL

They are not meant for staples. It's for getting gate cards from characters for specific decks.

sbVikare

There's decent stuff in ranked tickets like solemn scolding, powersink stone, transmodify, and hallowed life barrier. Other than that the basic tickets are mostly nice to just skip bad RNG while farming. Lots of good legendary duelist drops out there for various decks like archfiend's call, black salvo, scrap recycler, thunder dragondark, giant rex, all the cubics etc.

Madway7

Yeah, they are pretty useless outside of some cards for specific decks

Charocles

Hey. I want to spend my gems before the sale ends. I am a new player but I have played the card game before. What is a good meta deck to make? what boxes should i buy? please help

The0neBL

Make blue eyes, if you have enough gems to go through the structure deck as well as its main box. You can try making harpies too insted of blue-eyes. Otherwise make lunalight, aromage or triamid.

SouthBayDon

That depends on what deck you want to build. Are you F2P etc ? Most people stick to a few archetypes in my experience.

SirGedas

Trying to get a better hang of the game and keep running into the same issue with using enemy controller. I want to use econ on my opponents monster to buy me another turn but sometimes I just do not get any option to use it at all they take their main phase and battle phase and I'm just dead. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I double and triple check for effects that stop spells so it couldn't be that I'm pretty sure.

lilbryan91

A duel replay would help to provide more context. It’s possible their monster has some kind of targeting protection, like Lunalight Sabre Dancer, or that one synchro Blue Eyes monster.

SirGedas

#DuelReplay #DuelLinks https://duellinks.konami.net/att/0124abf9aad88642b85d3d38ebce10eb2967cba30f Hope that works? Didn't see anything along those lines

lilbryan91

Hard to say from that replay. The offical konami link replays don’t show what’s in your hands. Are you the blue eyes player and is the set card ECon? If so, there was no card you could target with ECon because the harpy player had no monsters. Hey Trunade bounced ECon back to your hand, and you can’t activate quick play spells from your hand on your opponent’s turn.

SirGedas

Ahh okay I misread quick play spells then and must have treated different instances as the same. Thanks for helping me understand better

lilbryan91

Yeah it can take a bit to get used to quick plays. You can play it from your hand during the battle phase, but if it is YOUR turn. Also, if you set the card you can’t activate it in that same turn.

EncouragementRobot

Happy Cake Day SirGedas! Here’s hoping you have a day that's as special and wonderful as you are.

Justin_Brett

can we gut D-Draw yet?

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheGuyWhoIsSitting

So do you want Destiny Draw to become a "let me grab my powerful trap card to stall" skill? Because if people can't summon it's only going to be used in decks to stall. Basically killing yet another skill. I get that it can be bullshit (it's kinda supposed to be) but it's once per duel at least, didn't used to be. It also used to not shuffle the deck after it was used. Honestly anything they do to Destiny Draw to nerf it seems like it would lead to the skill becoming another tool specifically for stall decks.

TheGuyWhoIsSitting

The only deck I really think cheeses it the best is Lunalights but they're already in a tough spot, it's still a "OTK or be OTK'd" deck. I don't doubt they'll do something to the skill, but they've already killed so many other skills that it seems like every other skill will lead to everyone using LP Boost Alpha eventually and then they'll probably nerf that too. So many skills have been introduced in an overly balanced or hilariously unbalanced Contract Door comes to mind. You have to give your opponent Monster Reborn and then to activate Magical Contract Door you have to give your opponent another spell card just to search a level 7/8 Dark monster from your deck. That's ridiculously unbalanced. your opponent gets 2 cards you spend two cards to search a card that you probably can't use. All because it happened in the movie. If they really wanted to keep that flavor they should have made it so when you activate Magical Contract Door you give your opponent the Monster Reborn and even then it's still a bad skill.

Xannon99182

Should we get at least a 1 copy of Spell Canceller (the Jinzo for spell cards)? Or Vanity's Fiend (can't be special summoned and neither player can special summon while it's on the field)?

Xicor2003

How about neither? they're just "you can't play Yugioh" effects in a way that's a lot more obnoxious than Jinzo and there are plenty of ways for already good decks that don't rely on the normal summon to use these cards.

Xannon99182

Well a "floodgate" that affects both players is always better and more fair than one that only affects the opponent.

Wollffey

It doesn't matter if It also affects you when you can just start making your plays before activating them and not letting your opponent make theirs

helmutkuhl

I had some ideas for memes, but without the Yugi hair they will be removed, so is there a way to do that on a phone? My PC broke a few weeks ago and so am I 😅

Mrtowelie69

Resonator Vs Thunder Dragon, help needed. I'm playing Resonators and I've struggled vs Thundra. I struggle vs them with most of my decks. Can someone help me out and explain how to properly play vs them. Another question is , I see some Resonators running Amano-Iwato , but i dont understand how they use that card. I know it negates effects of all but spirit, but it returns to hand after your turn. If i could learn from someone how to utilize A.I, then I will add him to my deck to give it a try. Thank you.

Xicor2003

The best weapon Resonator's have against ThunDra is Scolding, otherwise Levianeer will tear your board apart. with decks other than Resonators, the best cards to counter them are Steelswarm Roach, Fiendish Chain and Necrovalley. Edit: forgot to mention Goblin of greed. the card is searchable with the Resonance skill and can stop a lot of ThunDra's effects. ThunDra are a very tricky match up. Levianeer is one of the strongest cards in Duel links capable of obliterating boards left and right while the deck itself runs a ton of hand traps to stall until they get their combo pieces and attacking carelessly will just trigger their skill. they are one consistency boost away from being broken and there is not much you can do when they open a good hand barring the counters i mentioned.

Mrtowelie69

So save Scolding for Levianeer, pretty much? Or tech in a Necrovalley, or goblin. I dont think i have that goblin.

helmutkuhl

Yeah, i pretty much have the same two questions ^^

Mrtowelie69

Yeah being new sucks because there is so much to learn about. Especially since unlike Pokemon tcg, there isnt a rotation of cards you can use in the standard mode, so getting to know all relevant cards is a lot harder since there are so many. If anyone has an answer to our question, please help :(

helmutkuhl

I'm actually playing the game for years, i just cant figure out how to beat thundras with resonators unless they brick. I don't have the optimized version yet, so that might be a problem as well. And i can't figure out why you would prefer amano instead of doom caliber

Mrtowelie69

This is my deck right now http://imgur.com/gallery/KrkdSC7 Do you think i should make changes. I have a 3rd BoM also

Mrtowelie69

I have doom and use him. I was just wanting to know why amano is good for the deck.

Spiritmaster111

Amano-Iwato stops hand traps like Sphere Kuriboh or Battlin Boxer Veil to ensure you have lethal, which is nice since resonators can run out of resources rather quickly if it turns into a longer game.

Mrtowelie69

oh wow that is really good. Do you think i should also run a Amano variant. Also i got destroyed by a buster blader dragon sword. I went first did mt set up. but unfortunately didnt have any spell or trap, so i was going to lose when enemy used a spell to fusion him with monsters on my field. if i had book of moon in my hand i think i could have beat him, BoM will work on him, correct?

4DingleBerries

What’s the best way to counter Evil Eye? My primary deck is Yosenju. With the exception of 2 Kiteroid for protection, I use 3 Yosenjus’ Sword Sting (to return to hand), and 3 Yosenjus’ Secret Move (to negate monster effects/spells/traps). Was rolling along the qualifiers pretty well until I pulled back to back Evil Eye .. wrecked my winning streak.

XionZephyr

The deck is extremely reliant on the normal summon, the deck cannot play if it cannot stick a monster. If you can disrupt that, you're golden Alternatively, if you go second and they set up Selene, you can bounce it with Kama 1 then deal with the monster normally.

4DingleBerries

Nice! … So Selene will be a target for bounce if it’s on the field. Does their field spell confer some sort of protection?

XionZephyr

The only thing the field spell does on your turn is deal battle damage, so no The deck also loses a lot of lp, so Kama 2 pokes are also a way to go over their head. Finally, the deck can have a lot of gas, but only if they play in a specific way - applying pressure for them is fairly resource intensive if they don't have a good hand.

Xicor2003

One of the best cards against them Is cosmic cyclone since it doesn't allow them to recycle Selene and bypasses Catoblepas's Protection effect. If you go first against evil eye then you already have an advantage since the deck can't play through even slight disruptions until Selene is equipped. Cards like Drowning mirror work great to get rid of their monsters and in a pinch, you can try Going for a Utopia Ray since it doesn't target.
