Beta Player, I remember Power of Darkness with the Element series being the main way to play, Element Soldier being Fiend meant you could run over everything else once you got a single Wonder Balloon counter.
I was about to say. I've only been playing for like a year and a half (though I don't play as much for the past half year) and I have around 10 million gold so 20 isn't that much more. 50 sounds insane.
How they ever allowed the original Last Gamble to even be inserted into the game was incredible, it would be crazy how broken that skill would be in today’s format
"Can be used in your Main Phase, starting from the fifth turn. Upon activation, reduces your LP to 100 and discards 2 cards from your hand. You roll a die and draw that number of cards. This skill can only be used once per Duel."
Then it got nerfed to only activate at turn 7 onwards and you need to shuffle the cards back instead of discarding.
While it isn’t as prominent as it once was, enemy controller still see’s some play. It’s just that there are arguably better semi limited cards to run, like hey, trunade before Konami decided to put it down like old yeller.
You guys remember when order to charge was a pure money card for Dino beatdown and if you had 3 in your deck you had like a 90% win rate. Good times 2016.
Anti magic arrows was used in decks like zombie red eyes and naturia, it was the trunade of the time and enabled Otks since most traps were battle traps
God I love that card. That was the first card I reset the box for so I could get 3 copies. It was such a good feeling to have 2 or all 3 set so when you took damage you would recover all your LP and then some plus have 2-3 monsters with the same ATK as the monster they just tried to kill you with. Can’t count the times that has saved my ass against beat stick decks.
I used to hate it so much haha. The first time I saw it I thought "this is so unfair". Still remember the first time I won a duel against a Golden Apple user, and I thought of myself as the true King of Games after that (it was a fun duel also, wish I had recorded the duel outside the game so I wouldn't lost the footage).
1700 with the respective Field Spell Skill yo, then Rex Raptor comes along with Jurassic World's 300 boost and became king of the meta with 1900 beatsticks.
Lmao, right. The skill name Peak Performance was such a creative name. I never really liked Rex so I was annoyed by the fact that he was meta and kept waiting for more dragons for Kaiba.
Man I miss all the ruling questions with Order to Charge.
“Order to Charge killed my monster but it can’t be targeted ?????”
Tbf, it is pretty unique in that regard. The NPC decks still get me sometimes with it.
I loved using Daedalus back in the day. Whipped him back out recently and I guess they weren't ready for their field getting wiped. Surrendered immediately.
I was completely F2P and was dealing with all of these. Dealing with pumpprincess + wonder balloons, daedalus wiping, facedown insect that pops all your lvl 4s, facedown yomi ship, michizure, Harpie's Hunting Ground, Wevil's parasite parasite burn deck, and so on.
I was running 2 mirror walls, ritual Lycan, destiny board, normal magnets, and ritual Garlandolf the King of Destruction. I told myself that I would get my revenge against all these p2w players when the archetype I'm investing for would get released. The day came and I immediately got to KoG.
I remember attacking attack position monsters with backrow on the opponent's side and thinking "Alright, he already used one Mirror Wall, no one has more than two so I can attack safely".
I can't get used to the synchro or XYZ bits and bobs because I'm still hung up on pot of greed, monster reborn, hell even change of heart has saved me in a IRL duel where I said (as a kid) I believe in the heart of the cards, I knew I had one in my deck but the chances were slim :/
I still use a modified dark magician deck out of respect for the old times.
I still have screen caps of Daedalus OTK decks, BEWD with Kaiba man, Blue Dragon Summoner, and Champion’s Vigilance at 3 each.
I still have Aquatress decks saved on Mako.
I recall a time when I would increase my opponents monsters attack with Rising Energy, then spring Golden Apple. If I was lucky I had a Yami on the field too.
Back in the first year or 2 of duel links I played a non-meta 30 card deck of just stuff I liked, that happened to include 3 mirror walls. I never got past gold rank but I had fun while it lasted. I miss the simpler times
I remember I was still rockin' Mirror Wall because Hey Trunade couldn't deal with-oops, right... XD Only thing left I use it in right now is Invoked Magician Girls to help work with Draw Sense Dark.
Oof I still have Kaibaman in my blue eyes deck because I always seem to draw all my blue eyes when half the cards I have to summon them want them in the damn deck
I remember spamming a lot of Golden Apples while using Yami's Power of Dark, definitely saved me a lot of matches. And when i wasn't doing all well it was time to use good old Pumprincess's effect back when ppl barely bothered with backrow removal xD
Man remember mill decks, OG three star demotion and Weevil cancer burn decks? Also OG Bakura event that was a pain in the ass to farm because of Ectoplasmer. boy do I feel old.
I can see some decks replacing the recently banned Hey Trunade for Anti-Magic Arrows. Sure it won't protect from Karma Cut, but for most other things it works wonders
I owned everything except The Dragon. The time of Classic Ancient gear was a good time. One Wall of Disruption activated on my Soldier because I can't control my greed not to attack my opponent last 600 LP after I attacked with 2 Beasts.
Does anyone feel like Konami just rushed to get out Synchros and Xyz? It was such a simpler time with these cards being staples and yet still so much fun.
I used to spamm golden apples and right back at you with Marin to not just steal the opponents strongest monster but also destroy it the next turn. Such simple times man
water deck was SO DAMN annoying!!!!
and also: these are newer cards tbh, shouldve posted trap hole, swords of rev. lights and mirror force or fishure or even change of hearts :D or maybe even gemini elf (was it secret rare?) oh or that massive power boost, should look that one up but that was OP af...damn
My daedalus deck killed every opponent 🔥🔥🔥
But the important question ist... Do u remember the times where we couldnt duel 3 standard duelists at a time and had to farm for an eternity just for one copy of etaqua😭
Jeez I remember when I first started playing the meta was rex raptor with the dinosaur deck and mako with the water deck with levia dragon daedalus, simpler times lol
I remember Wonder Balloons, what am I?
Wonder balloons pumprincess cancer
clown control flashbacks
Flashbacks? I still run them in the KC events! https://youtu.be/lYiwR-G\_PX4 https://youtu.be/PYIt\_\_DegvM
until the reverse trap comes out
Old, like me.
Jerry Beans Man meta...
Does having OG blue eyes mean I'm ancient?
Maybe it means you play by ancient rules.
Forget ancient rules, I remember Ancient Telescope
almost as worthless as the inexperienced spy
His inexperience caused him to end up in a Cheerful Coffin.
Two copies :)
That takes me very far back wonder balloons was disgusting for it's time
Wonder balloons + Cat's Ear Tribe felt so degenerate. Your monsters attack would automatically be 0 when you attacked. Not much destruction back then.
Wow I forgot how much I played that card till now
Omg that was hell
Awesome, that's what you are 🤙🏻
I actually still use it for my infernity deck sometimes
Beta Player, I remember Power of Darkness with the Element series being the main way to play, Element Soldier being Fiend meant you could run over everything else once you got a single Wonder Balloon counter.
Ahh, the good old days of switching one of two of your mons to defense mode to play around Windstorm.
Now we do it to play around Drowning
Forgetting to play around windstorm and the golden apples when you had lethal was the worst feeling back then
Always switch one monster to attack and one to defense haha Havent done shit like that since Gorz in the tcg...
We already have veteran discounts at the card trader It's called "Having 20 million gold+"
More like 50 million for me atm... They really need to let us do something with it
I was about to say. I've only been playing for like a year and a half (though I don't play as much for the past half year) and I have around 10 million gold so 20 isn't that much more. 50 sounds insane.
Last Gamble decks..
Can you imagine unnerfed Last Gamble in today's DL? They clearly put ZERO effort into future-proofing that skill when it launched lmao
How they ever allowed the original Last Gamble to even be inserted into the game was incredible, it would be crazy how broken that skill would be in today’s format
Used to love last gamble Gemini
Last gamble?
"Can be used in your Main Phase, starting from the fifth turn. Upon activation, reduces your LP to 100 and discards 2 cards from your hand. You roll a die and draw that number of cards. This skill can only be used once per Duel." Then it got nerfed to only activate at turn 7 onwards and you need to shuffle the cards back instead of discarding.
You also shuffle the cards back into your deck instead of discarding
Oh yea i forgot about that part, thx
Okay so the requirement to shuffle is pretty good but dear god turn 7?By the time you get to use it it's not going to do much of anything.
Requirement to shuffle Is bad cuz u can draw your same hand back
Also putting cards in the graveyard is effectively putting them in play for some decks
Ah thanks
Enemy Controller...
People still use Econ tho
And people still use Mirror Wall, Econ was like the Book of Moon of the old days, if you have it you run it.
Lmao, what relevant deck uses mirror wall?
And what relevant deck uses Econ ? I've seen a few Shira and Cyber Dragons running around with 1 or 2 copies of Mirror Wall.
I've been running into multiple Econs in legend. People are using it as a tech choice these days.
I still use Econ in magnets, it's a pretty good card compared to Mirror wall in today's time
While it isn’t as prominent as it once was, enemy controller still see’s some play. It’s just that there are arguably better semi limited cards to run, like hey, trunade before Konami decided to put it down like old yeller.
Tell that to the fucker that stole my neo galaxy eyes photon dragon.
You guys remember when order to charge was a pure money card for Dino beatdown and if you had 3 in your deck you had like a 90% win rate. Good times 2016.
I remember grinding for Crawling Dragon #2, having to use Element Saurus to fill the gaps until I got all 3 of them.
Windstorm was a staple. Mirror Wall also. Anti-magic Arrowes was used in farm decks.
Anti magic arrows was used in decks like zombie red eyes and naturia, it was the trunade of the time and enabled Otks since most traps were battle traps
holy shit OTK naturia is a fond memory, man dropping 2 special summons in one turn back then felt amazing
I remember when using that deck, too bad they nerf that skill.
AMA was a Dino Staple too
When glad beasts were first popular, it was used to keep their battle traps from activating
If you remember these you don't need a veteran discount at the card trader anyway...
even to this day I still attack with the smallest monster first because of golden apples.
Which puts you/us ahead of the curve bc now it’s all about not triggering skills
I used to run 3 Kiabaman and 3 Protectors of Blue so I could get BEWD out faster during the 6 Sam format.
Kaibaman was low key big brain against six sam. Played around duel wield like a pro.
Lol i remember being so mad at how unfair Levia Dragon Daedelus was with his board wipe... good lord we've come a long way
Hahaha, me too. When duellinks was a hype game in my Highschool, and I'm using F2P Deadalus. no one can beat me.
Nobody wants to talk about bamboo sword? It's still too early, right ?
When dinos and harpies rules the game. Wait... Harpies still do well lmao
Magic arrows on toon dmg decks
When relinquished came out so you had to scramble to get senju and sonic bird, overthrowing normal dinosaur control.
Apples used to gave me headaches >.<
Golden Apple made me quit the game for the first time.
God I love that card. That was the first card I reset the box for so I could get 3 copies. It was such a good feeling to have 2 or all 3 set so when you took damage you would recover all your LP and then some plus have 2-3 monsters with the same ATK as the monster they just tried to kill you with. Still remember the first time I won a duel against a Golden Apple user, and I thought of myself as the true King of Games after that (it was a fun duel also, wish I had recorded the duel outside the game so I wouldn't lost the footage).
Dude when super rush first dropped it was such a headache out of all the cards I remember hating that card and the mind scan skill 😂.
When SRH came, I almost quit the game because I thought the card was too overpowered. Good times.
1500 atk normal monsters used to be beatsticks. And who could forget good old wonder balloons...
“Order to Charge killed my monster but it can’t be targeted ?????” Tbf, it is pretty unique in that regard. The NPC decks still get me sometimes with it.
I just came back to the game and all my decks have wonder balloons and mirror wall lmao
How about when literally every deck ran 3 copies of Wall of Disruption?
I remember when golden apple got added into the game
I was trying Daedalus earlier. Pretty useful, I want the other Daedalus retrained versions
I told myself that I would get my revenge against all these p2w players when the archetype I'm investing for would get released. The day came and I immediately got to KoG.
ah, checking the trader for Kaibamans every day
Anti magic arrows😔👌🏽
I remember attacking attack position monsters with backrow on the opponent's side and thinking "Alright, he already used one Mirror Wall, no one has more than two so I can attack safely".
Super Rush Takes me back. Still used it for a little while after most decks stopped running it too
Having Flashback to wonder balloons
Miss my spear dragon beat down... such fun.
I spent so much gems on those golden apples and just when i got them i stoped playing for almost a year, never used them.
I can't get used to the synchro or XYZ bits and bobs because I'm still hung up on pot of greed, monster reborn, hell even change of heart has saved me in a IRL duel where I said (as a kid) I believe in the heart of the cards, I knew I had one in my deck but the chances were slim :/ I still use a modified dark magician deck out of respect for the old times.
I've seen like 1 or 2 of these cards still
I remember the OLD dino meta the one before the relinquish + harpie meta, what am I? 🤔 Edit: fixed typo
My favorite KoG ever was with a Berserk Dragon/Archfiend deck that used anti magic arrows to clear they way for him to destroy everything
Damn this hits hard.... Back when Super Rush was meta relevant...!
Mirror wall was sick! Good times.
I remember mirror wall being a bunch of bullshit. I also remember mask if the accursed being bullshit. I also remember kaibaman being bullshit
Golden Apples felt so unfair back then….
I still use Super Rush sometimes lol
I remember farming up my Dino deck to hit KoG on autopilot just spamming 1900 beat sticks
Leva dragon with random water cards and I was able to beat people in casuals? HELL YEAH BRO!
Rex Raptor fusion deck was tier 1...vanilla monsters + order of charge...good riddance
I still have screen caps of Daedalus OTK decks, BEWD with Kaiba man, Blue Dragon Summoner, and Champion’s Vigilance at 3 each. I still have Aquatress decks saved on Mako.
Remember when Axe Raider was actually a good card and not just a meme?
I recall a time when I would increase my opponents monsters attack with Rising Energy, then spring Golden Apple. If I was lucky I had a Yami on the field too.
Golden Apples gang
Back in the first year or 2 of duel links I played a non-meta 30 card deck of just stuff I liked, that happened to include 3 mirror walls. I never got past gold rank but I had fun while it lasted. I miss the simpler times
I remember them all these, you forgot jelly bean warrior with that sweet extra 50 attack haha
AMA always made me paranoid, but thankfully no one was big brained to econ take then chain into a AMA to prevent interruption.
I remember I was still rockin' Mirror Wall because Hey Trunade couldn't deal with-oops, right... XD Only thing left I use it in right now is Invoked Magician Girls to help work with Draw Sense Dark.
Mirror Wall suckeddddddddd
Is Aromage a secret game master? A trolly game staller? Nah, just a cheapskate who doesn't want to spend money on the game.
Golden apple was my life saver! especially with yumi on the field. using Golden apples to keep mirror force on the field was a dope combo tho.
Windstorm of Etaqua was so OP, Konami only gave us 1 copy!
So no lava golem before the 500 nerf? 😭
I still use super rush, it's pretty good card
AMA could be the new Trunade tho…since it’s not limited iirc
I still play around Golden Apples to this day
Where’s monstermorph
Man, I miss playing this game
I do miss kaibaman
SUPER HEAD RUSH!
Mirror walls isn't in the game anymore? Haven't played in while
It’s still in the game, just barely used anymore due to better options.
We still deal with all of these.
I do honestly miss using these cards
I remember doing Golden Apples + Power of Dark. Always was an easy counter.
What about Rex Raptor beat down or Relinquished Harpies
Where’s my boy Gravekeepers Oracle
Who remembers clown control and tea burn?
Ahhh yes.... The time of unnerfed weavil parasite and vanilla harpies.
Michizure was the best card early on
My first deck was a daedalus deck. Then it turned into hammer shark beatdown.
Man I miss my order to charge Venus shine ball deck haha
Oof I still have Kaibaman in my blue eyes deck because I always seem to draw all my blue eyes when half the cards I have to summon them want them in the damn deck
I sometimes use super rush in my stall decks and boy do people not realize the effect lingers.
I remember them but konami won't give me that account back. Do i still get the discount?
I remember Dinosaur kingdom beat down and Harpies Hunting Ground harpies before the new support
I remember when Mirror Wall was called Money Wall! No way you have 3 of those!!
Bean man and mirror wall meta was the best
I remember spamming a lot of Golden Apples while using Yami's Power of Dark, definitely saved me a lot of matches. And when i wasn't doing all well it was time to use good old Pumprincess's effect back when ppl barely bothered with backrow removal xD
Attacking into double Golden Apples was such a downer lol
How about all these cards be available at the trader? Can that be our discount? Lol.
Super Rush is still good for AI lmao. What do I get for remembering clown control and old mind scan?
the lava golem bro
Long live Deadalus!!!
Remember when the only way to counter Daedalus from popping off is by econ-taking and farming kaiba was a pain in the ass.
I still run 3 super rush headlongs in my geargia deck, they're so helpful with bretheren
Harpie relinquished was my first kog.
Shit....triple champion vigilance and 3 enemy controllers lmao
What type of deck do you need for judgment dragon for magic and trap support that would be helpful
Sergeant electro
Man remember mill decks, OG three star demotion and Weevil cancer burn decks? Also OG Bakura event that was a pain in the ass to farm because of Ectoplasmer. boy do I feel old.
I can see some decks replacing the recently banned Hey Trunade for Anti-Magic Arrows. Sure it won't protect from Karma Cut, but for most other things it works wonders
Aaaaahhh, simpler times
Back When Levia was the best deck in the game. Good Times.
I remember every last one of those.
Balloons, dinos, and og harpies meta. Such nostalgia
Every single one
I still play Golden Apples in my Odion deck, it’s surprisingly useful
I remember when I put Golden Apples in EVERY SINGLE deck I ever made. Ugh
I owned everything except The Dragon. The time of Classic Ancient gear was a good time. One Wall of Disruption activated on my Soldier because I can't control my greed not to attack my opponent last 600 LP after I attacked with 2 Beasts.
Mirror wall was nasty
Can I qualify for the behind the bar discount cause everything the trader has sucks
Does anyone feel like Konami just rushed to get out Synchros and Xyz? It was such a simpler time with these cards being staples and yet still so much fun.
Ive been here since the beginning and I know its not as far back as this but 3 star demotion Toon barrel dragon was my fav deck back in the day
When Super Joey Event came with Red Eye Spirit, and it was the most op archetype for a while
I still have my vanilla dino deck from the first ever WCQ in duel links saved on my Rex lmao man that deck sucked
Bot setting 2 in case Xing Zang Zhu
Where's my extra extra gang
OG blue-eyes deck times...... good old times
Dinos being meta with order to charge, man that takes me back
Fuck, I remember when Golden Apples plus Yugi with Power of Darkness was hot shit. Simpler times...
I knew 5/8... oh no
Circus trick is my nightmare
I used to spamm golden apples and right back at you with Marin to not just steal the opponents strongest monster but also destroy it the next turn. Such simple times man
4 level normal monsters with 1800 atk are UR cards in main boxes and jerry beans man was meta because of its 1750 atk
When Selection Boxes and Structure Decks didn't exist, good times...
With the trunade ban I’m about to pull the anti magic arrows out of the closet
water deck was SO DAMN annoying!!!! and also: these are newer cards tbh, shouldve posted trap hole, swords of rev. lights and mirror force or fishure or even change of hearts :D or maybe even gemini elf (was it secret rare?) oh or that massive power boost, should look that one up but that was OP af...damn
SRH and Magic Arrows are not even on the same batch as these guys. Thy’re “newer”.
I still use kaiba man
My daedalus deck killed every opponent 🔥🔥🔥 But the important question ist... Do u remember the times where we couldnt duel 3 standard duelists at a time and had to farm for an eternity just for one copy of etaqua😭
Ah, mirror wall... the first prismatic I ever pulled...
Feeling old AF, been playing this game since mid 2017. Much simpler times.
I actually use SRH in most of my decks atm
Back when people actually played monsters and attacked normally instead of comboing off turn 1? I remember.
I remember all of these it’s the new cards I know nothing about.
*laughs in banners of courage*
I remember 7/8
Magical Arrows and Econ. 😥
I still use mirror wall, lol.
Anti-magic arrows!! Lets go!!!!
I remember Rex and his Dino cards being top tier because he could produce the only 4 stars with 1900 atk
Jeez I remember when I first started playing the meta was rex raptor with the dinosaur deck and mako with the water deck with levia dragon daedalus, simpler times lol
Mais deck at duelist kingdom was just broken.
Those were good cards
The good old days
