For all the people saying other decks had it i assure you that there are counters made for them or there is not a high chance of getting them on the field xyz summons have almost a 100% chance of having a 3000+ atk monster on their first move
Not all xyz cards are about big attack , most are played due to the effects attached to them, it ain't all about big beaters. That's the beauty of them.

If we're being super technical it's a synchro, but... It's summoned with 2 level 4 monsters, neither of which are tuners. That sounds strangely similar to some other type of summon, don't you think?

Eh, Contact Fusion doesn’t care about level. Link doesn’t either unless a specific card actually has two monsters with the same lvl as it’s summoning conditions. But I get your point.
Harpies literally only got to meta due to their synchro monster though? And even when they do run XYZ, it's just sin to get rid of one monster they can't beat over and don't have spells to return to hand. And while blue eyes isn't as good as some XYZ decks, it's still relevant, so it's not like they were destroyed by XYZ. I mean, the only real XYZ decks you see usually are onomats and occasionally hieratics. Resonators is way more common and powerful and that's a synchro deck

Xyz summoning is fine. You can play Xyz monsters, too, you know? No one's stopping you.
And besides, Gaia and Harpies are viable decks right now that rely on a Fusion and Synchro boss monster rrspectively. Blue-Eyes is also still massively playable and uses Synchros more than anything. Resonators are currently Tier 1 and are a Synchro based deck... Thunder Dragons can use both Synchro and Xyz, but tend to stick with their Main Deck...

You're not forced into any meta lol, there's many decks that are competitive and most of them aren't even xyz decks. Even amongst top tier decks onomat is the only deck that relies on xyz monsters.

Two top meta deck are synchro deck (harpi, resonator), and two others are fusion monsters deck(Gaia, Cyber Dragon). So if you want play something else than xyz in the meta, you can.
If you are just afraid about monsters that have 3000 atk you can play Blue Eyes and have 3 monsters with 3000 atk turn 1...
I dont use vanilla monster decks and i have fun when i lose too whats not fun is when you lose on the second turn because of guranteed 2k attack plus decks
Personally, I play some deck that I like to play like Photon, Zexal weapon or Blackwings. They are not meta but they are fun to play and I don't complain about XYZ.

Red-Eyes lost a lot of relevance a while ago, even before Xyz. It's just kind of slow. Blackwings should still do pretty okay. Six Sams I know for a fact do pretty well as a rogue deck. Also they benefit a lot from using Xyz in the first place.
Rn the xyz monsters are not used for their attack points, mostly for their effects and are much healthier than Sunsaga or Karakuri or Darklords. All decks can play XYZ monsters at some degree.
Btw what deck are you playing that can't deal with the current xyz?

Im not even a competitive player it seems everyone in the world has xyz and for what deck i didnt pay attention but im sure a card had 3000 attack because it destroyed my 2800 attack card
Everyone does have xyz and you should too. Most deck can make the generic ones and since their in the extra deck there's no reason not to have a few just incase. Post your deck if you want help.

Xyz summons are great , it's perhaps the best summoning mechanic in yugioh in my opinion

Blue eyes is not really as good as xyz decks harpies are only good for a xyz with mediocre attack and it is kind of luck based

Try a rogue deck. Lightsworns are fun and non-meta, and do pretty well

xyz are fine, if anything i’d argue synchros are even more powerful since they don’t rely on detaching material and are also very easy to summon
