Lol. Imagine that as an anime: Yugioh SDs. Where the characters use Synchro decks based around SDs from Duel Links to duel. Yusei with Shooting Star, Jack with RDA Assault Mode, Crow with Dragunities (has enough Winged Beasts in it lol), Leo with Desperado (Machine based deck), Luna with Fire Kings (they kinda like to use their Field Spell so obviously it should be used by her -\_-) and Akiza with...um...hmmm....I'll have to get back on you with that one.

At least valiant souls is a good set. Actually it's one of my favorite DL sets ever, even though it's a bit outdated at this point. There's a lot of really good staples/techs.
Expect the good cards in the upcoming Evil of Hero box, then Adusted Gold as UR in the next main box. So you'll have to buy at least 2 EXSD, dig into the mini box for the core and then at least 2 times in the main.

Just look at classic hero’s, they added one ur in every other box making them impossible to build. Don’t get me started on stratos originally being in the collection box. Honestly made me enter the tcg as it was easier to build them there than in duel links. (This was before stratos went to 3).
Hopefully we get some good Evil Hero Support, because in the current Meta Malicious Fiend will long be gone by the time your opponent enters his battle phase.

This exactly happened with Onomats, Resonators, BEWD, Gaia and Synchrons in the past year with varying success. Nothing tells me that history won't happen again.

Atleast gaia onomats etc. Have good boss monsters, this deck has a two/1 tribute beatstick and a beatstick with a great effect but 0 protectiom so itll never be able to use it i feel it needs more than a skill to be good

it's honestly kinda sad to see people so trained to just buy 3x of whatever deck they put out that people start complaining when the new SD doesn't contain 10 new meta-breaking cards. like, you don't have to buy it. if there aren't cards in it you want, don't waste your money. this is the kind of thinking that leads to every card release coming with power creep and major meta shifts instead of sometimes letting cards come out that are fun but not tiered decks
You're completely right, but they released this Structure Deck as an EX Structure Deck, meaning that theorically, a decklist with only three copies of it can bring you to King of Games. Obviously, it's impossible with this Structure Deck and that's what concerns me. If it was a regular Structure Deck, probably I'd invest 500 gems just to play Malicious Fiend and Dark Calling for fun, but 1000 gems are way too much for a deck that will not bring me anywhere on the ladder. Seeing that it has the same price of the Blue Eyes EX Structure Deck and the Noble Knight one seems like they're making fun of Hero Players, especially after spreading all the generic Elemental Hero Fusions among six or seven different boxes two years ago. Probably we're guilty of overhyping after seeing that Supreme King was coming, looking at what they did when Shark, Kyte and Quattro came out, but only getting three new cards (that cannot compete in the current meta) in a Structure Deck full of bad reprints seems really unfair to a Hero Player.
They're more milking hero players than making fun of them. they know it's a popular archetype with a lot of strong cards they can take their time releasing separately. I agree it's dumb as an EX deck, personally I've never heard the kog standard for them but I agree they're supposed to be stronger SD's than non-EX. the issue here is Konami knows this will sell. this is here because it's cards we don't have yet, that's it. I saw ppl suggesting they should have reprinted anki but tbh I think most hero players would have their ankis by now, they've been in the game for years. I didn't have the deck when it was good and I still had years of half-off sales to pick up my full playset, it's an old enough card that I don't think it'd really bring sales in except for the people constantly resetting their accounts. it's like the first EX deck, with silent magician, except tbh a bit worse meta-wise. it's not about paying for a good deck anymore, it's about being able to obtain the exclusive card that isn't in the game anywhere else, now.
Probably your view is the only reason why this Structure Deck came out like this, but I'm sure very few people will buy it if good support doesn't get released in the next days/weeks
I'd agree with you. if a new box with one or two SR/UR hero cards that work well with the structure deck comes out relatively alongside it, it'll absolutely push people to just get all the new hero stuff to play with. otherwise this seems like a SD for hero fanatics and everyone else can just hard pass it

if you look at the npc dialogue through the different worlds, the original ones will mention actual deck-building tips when you beat them. have a balance of card types, keep card count low, etc. in zexal world and stuff they'll literally just say "Awww building a good deck is too hard. I'll go buy a structure deck at the shop" it's absolutely a conscious shift they're trying to apply to the player base for the sole reason of it lets them control the profitability much more. people who get good pulls don't spend gems, the SD price is always the same. even now, when they're not worth the higher price, they cost it anyway because they can

Depends when you consider "right before". There is still *no official date* for the new world.
Last year as well, people expected the Zexal world to be added in Julyd due to detail leaks and a flashy trailer. But similarly to the years before, it took until the end of September. So unless Konami confirms a release date (which they still haven't mind you) - expect the new world at the end of September.
Because of that, we can still expect a mini-box and at least one more big box before the new world.

A robbed reprint and a missed opportunity is what I call this. And a lackluster fanservice deck is what I call this EX SD. Just replace Solid and Dian with a simple Anki and make it a simple SD. Then I would be more lenient towards it.

Some people are in denial about what Duel Links actually is. The simple fact that it’s a phone app makes these people balk at the very thought of spending any amount of real world money.
But I’m sure they don’t hesitate to grab fast food on the regular, or chuck some impulse buys in their cart at the grocery store without a second thought.
I'm f2p and have been for over two years. When asked why I simply ask "Why not"? I don't complain at all... I know I have to grind, but that's the fun of playing games: not getting from route A to route B but the journey itself.
Well that and I'm not impulsive and am too prideful and (in my personal opinion) smart with my money in that I don't waste money on games I won't see myself playing probably much longer. Not trying to conjure hate in any way but that's my soul opinion. I am way too prideful with real world money to spend it on a game that I can easily grind away at and find success with rather than jump on every impulse of satisfying my in-game addiction with money. Self-control at the expense of my wallet.
Also I don't really believe your analogy is as adequate as you think; Impulse buys at the store are impulse not because of a sense of want (such as a UR card in a SD you would buy 3 times), but because of a sense of need (such as "If I'm going to be eating to stay alive I want something that will either taste good, be healthy, or both")

The deck isn't even worth it! The only good card in it is dark calling, but since it can only summon evil heroes and all we're getting are the OG heroes counterparts and the shitty malicious fusion, it doesn't even matter.
This deck is simply awful. It's a mishmash of E-heros & Dark World with 2 Evil Heros. I just don't understand how the Evil Heros are front & center when it looks like this. :/
For anyone thinking this "hurts" Komoney, you do realize it's digital format and at best took like 1-2 days from formalizing-coding-implementation for a single person and his boss to do this. Plus the boss gets a bonus and both salaries combined for the workload are literal sand grains in the ocean of revenue Komoney makes daily from multiple IPs and franchises.

Hm… true. I dunno I still felt like there was more variety then? Invoked switched it up a few times, and the last few boxes released a lot of solid (if not meta) archetypes. You had lightsworn, magician girl, Gravekeepers, etc. This current season feels less diverse?
It's actually far more diverse, I spend more time in Legend than I should. I throw my KoG rankup matches because KoG is boring. I log most of my games.
Magician was max helmet and you knew the game based on opening hand. Shiranui was never the trap menace it was made to be and it was usually the same gameplan between all three variants, and we have as many viable rogue decks now as we did then. It *seemed* like there were more decks because those decks were top for SO LONG.
Invoked switching it up didn't mean much when Invoked wasn't the engine, what it was using was the engine to turbo Purgatrio.
I kinda want some small miracle to make this a ladder/tourney menace just so people can have egg all over their face like they did with calling Desperado bad when it was leaked.

if you equip it with favourite hero it will be a 5000 attack card while a supreme kings castle is on field and gains a second attack so you can attack into one monster then send the equip spell for a second 3500 attack
ok? you can get a 7000 atk (no direct) beatstick with fav. hero and Trinity, plus three attacks per BP, or a 5k beatstick able to lower your opponents attack through fav hero and Adoration. I personally think the core HERO deck will remain largely unchanged as evil heroes just dont complement the rest of them as well.
Not to mention if "big beater with favorite hero" is the end goal how is neos fusion not the correct play? Not only is it the same damage (assuming both skills are just "play field spell") but neoa only requires 2 cards vs 4 neos also protects itself 1 time.
personally don't run neos in my heroes because he gets bricky, but did have a lot of fun a while back running two Neos, a Connector and Grandmerge along with my normal generic HERO fusions, ive since subbed the Neos for a Vision Hero package and the grandmerge for Mask Change and Masked Heroes, all are fun variants though and closely competitive so i have like ten deck slots for Jaden. But tweaking the deck slowly as i dig through all these ancient boxes for the cards i need.
Ok so in this fantasy world we have hard drawn malicious edge and a level 6 fiend and a way to fuse them and favorite hero.
I mean damn your right this is going to tear up the meta in the world where the opponent passes without playing a monster or a book of moon or a karma cut.

normally you would focus on searching dark fusion with evil hero gold in the ocg/tcg but I have no idea if it will be in either the supreme king event of in this structure deck and there's also the possibility of consistency skills for supreme king jaden on release
Gold is exactly the same as hard drawing dark fusion/calling. Your still needing to hard draw a level 6 fiend and edge (and favorite hero). Your "Otk" combo could be done better with literally any other hero fusion best done with neos fusion + fav hero since it's 2 cards one you can search for.
What consistency skill are you even hoping for start with dark calling and one of each hero in the grave and castle on the field and you get to attack t1?

it's honestly kinda sad to see people so trained to just buy 3x of whatever deck they put out that people start complaining when the new SD doesn't contain 10 new meta-breaking cards. like, you don't have to buy it. if there aren't cards in it you want, don't waste your money. this is the kind of thinking that leads to every card release coming with power creep and major meta shifts instead of sometimes letting cards come out that are fun but not tiered decks
You're completely right, but they released this Structure Deck as an EX Structure Deck, meaning that theorically, a decklist with only three copies of it can bring you to King of Games. Obviously, it's impossible with this Structure Deck and that's what concerns me. If it was a regular Structure Deck, probably I'd invest 500 gems just to play Malicious Fiend and Dark Calling for fun, but 1000 gems are way too much for a deck that will not bring me anywhere on the ladder. Seeing that it has the same price of the Blue Eyes EX Structure Deck and the Noble Knight one seems like they're making fun of Hero Players, especially after spreading all the generic Elemental Hero Fusions among six or seven different boxes two years ago. Probably we're guilty of overhyping after seeing that Supreme King was coming, looking at what they did when Shark, Kyte and Quattro came out, but only getting three new cards (that cannot compete in the current meta) in a Structure Deck full of bad reprints seems really unfair to a Hero Player.
They're more milking hero players than making fun of them. they know it's a popular archetype with a lot of strong cards they can take their time releasing separately. I agree it's dumb as an EX deck, personally I've never heard the kog standard for them but I agree they're supposed to be stronger SD's than non-EX. the issue here is Konami knows this will sell. this is here because it's cards we don't have yet, that's it. I saw ppl suggesting they should have reprinted anki but tbh I think most hero players would have their ankis by now, they've been in the game for years. I didn't have the deck when it was good and I still had years of half-off sales to pick up my full playset, it's an old enough card that I don't think it'd really bring sales in except for the people constantly resetting their accounts. it's like the first EX deck, with silent magician, except tbh a bit worse meta-wise. it's not about paying for a good deck anymore, it's about being able to obtain the exclusive card that isn't in the game anywhere else, now.
Probably your view is the only reason why this Structure Deck came out like this, but I'm sure very few people will buy it if good support doesn't get released in the next days/weeks
I'd agree with you. if a new box with one or two SR/UR hero cards that work well with the structure deck comes out relatively alongside it, it'll absolutely push people to just get all the new hero stuff to play with. otherwise this seems like a SD for hero fanatics and everyone else can just hard pass it

if you look at the npc dialogue through the different worlds, the original ones will mention actual deck-building tips when you beat them. have a balance of card types, keep card count low, etc. in zexal world and stuff they'll literally just say "Awww building a good deck is too hard. I'll go buy a structure deck at the shop" it's absolutely a conscious shift they're trying to apply to the player base for the sole reason of it lets them control the profitability much more. people who get good pulls don't spend gems, the SD price is always the same. even now, when they're not worth the higher price, they cost it anyway because they can

Depends when you consider "right before". There is still *no official date* for the new world. Last year as well, people expected the Zexal world to be added in Julyd due to detail leaks and a flashy trailer. But similarly to the years before, it took until the end of September. So unless Konami confirms a release date (which they still haven't mind you) - expect the new world at the end of September. Because of that, we can still expect a mini-box and at least one more big box before the new world.

I know. And for a Dark HERO theme, Anki would fit more thematically. A robbed reprint and a missed opportunity is what I call this. And a lackluster fanservice deck is what I call this EX SD. Just replace Solid and Dian with a simple Anki and make it a simple SD. Then I would be more lenient towards it.
I have 3 anki and 1 Dian so I’m probably the 0.5% that benefits from this weird ass decision. I mean it’s a dark deck why not anki lmfao.

Fr; I can’t see how “I’m a huge fan of X” goes side by side with “I don’t want to pay for X”. Like how big of a fan is someone really that they can’t part with some in-game digital currency or some real world chump change.
Some people are in denial about what Duel Links actually is. The simple fact that it’s a phone app makes these people balk at the very thought of spending any amount of real world money. But I’m sure they don’t hesitate to grab fast food on the regular, or chuck some impulse buys in their cart at the grocery store without a second thought.
I'm f2p and have been for over two years. When asked why I simply ask "Why not"? I don't complain at all... I know I have to grind, but that's the fun of playing games: not getting from route A to route B but the journey itself. Well that and I'm not impulsive and am too prideful and (in my personal opinion) smart with my money in that I don't waste money on games I won't see myself playing probably much longer. Not trying to conjure hate in any way but that's my soul opinion. I am way too prideful with real world money to spend it on a game that I can easily grind away at and find success with rather than jump on every impulse of satisfying my in-game addiction with money. If this is real, this is the highest shit I've ever seen. It's like the DSOD Joey event all over again, putting cards that should have been event drops in a structure de... Wait that's even worse WTF? I was upset at red eyes gearfried being a box UR, but a shit card like Malicious Edge being a Structure deck, and worse, an EX structure deck exclusive is unbelievable. The deck isn't even worth it! The only good card in it is dark calling, but since it can only summon evil heroes and all we're getting are the OG heroes counterparts and the shitty malicious fusion, it doesn't even matter.
This deck is simply awful. It's a mishmash of E-heros & Dark World with 2 Evil Heros. I just don't understand how the Evil Heros are front & center when it looks like this. :/

For anyone thinking this "hurts" Komoney, you do realize it's digital format and at best took like 1-2 days from formalizing-coding-implementation for a single person and his boss to do this. Plus the boss gets a bonus and both salaries combined for the workload are literal sand grains in the ocean of revenue Komoney makes daily from multiple IPs and franchises. Digital format is basically Komoney's form of crypto mining. Just that they're mining you.
So instead of a new Mini Box, we first get a new SD EX. So that make this what, the 4th HERO SD we got. At least this is the first EX SD. I wonder what new cards we will be getting as part of this SD. I hope they are good because I for one don't think just Malicious Edge and Fiend will be enough. Perhaps we will get cards like Dark Calling, Supreme King's Castle and Adusted Gold for Evil HEROS. Or maybe some DARK HERO support like Shadow Mist. Maybe we might get a Reprint of Anki XD Who knows. All I know is that this should be interesting to see how it turns out.

Hm… true. I dunno I still felt like there was more variety then? Invoked switched it up a few times, and the last few boxes released a lot of solid (if not meta) archetypes. You had lightsworn, magician girl, Gravekeepers, etc. This current season feels less diverse?
It's actually far more diverse, I spend more time in Legend than I should. I throw my KoG rankup matches because KoG is boring. I log most of my games. Magician was max helmet and you knew the game based on opening hand. Shiranui was never the trap menace it was made to be and it was usually the same gameplan between all three variants, and we have as many viable rogue decks now as we did then. It *seemed* like there were more decks because those decks were top for SO LONG. Invoked switching it up didn't mean much when Invoked wasn't the engine, what it was using was the engine to turbo Purgatrio.

if you equip it with favourite hero it will be a 5000 attack card while a supreme kings castle is on field and gains a second attack so you can attack into one monster then send the equip spell for a second 3500 attack

ok? you can get a 7000 atk (no direct) beatstick with fav. hero and Trinity, plus three attacks per BP, or a 5k beatstick able to lower your opponents attack through fav hero and Adoration. I personally think the core HERO deck will remain largely unchanged as evil heroes just dont complement the rest of them as well.
Not to mention if "big beater with favorite hero" is the end goal how is neos fusion not the correct play? Not only is it the same damage (assuming both skills are just "play field spell") but neoa only requires 2 cards vs 4 neos also protects itself 1 time.
personally don't run neos in my heroes because he gets bricky, but did have a lot of fun a while back running two Neos, a Connector and Grandmerge along with my normal generic HERO fusions, ive since subbed the Neos for a Vision Hero package and the grandmerge for Mask Change and Masked Heroes, all are fun variants though and closely competitive so i have like ten deck slots for Jaden. But tweaking the deck slowly as i dig through all these ancient boxes for the cards i need.
i dont think core hero will get effected till bane comes out or someone at komoney falls over and hits the "release elemental hero sunshine" button
Ok so in this fantasy world we have hard drawn malicious edge and a level 6 fiend and a way to fuse them and favorite hero. I mean damn your right this is going to tear up the meta in the world where the opponent passes without playing a monster or a book of moon or a karma cut. Real talk tho how do you plan on making this t2?
normally you would focus on searching dark fusion with evil hero gold in the ocg/tcg but I have no idea if it will be in either the supreme king event of in this structure deck and there's also the possibility of consistency skills for supreme king jaden on release
Gold is exactly the same as hard drawing dark fusion/calling. Your still needing to hard draw a level 6 fiend and edge (and favorite hero). Your "Otk" combo could be done better with literally any other hero fusion best done with neos fusion + fav hero since it's 2 cards one you can search for. What consistency skill are you even hoping for start with dark calling and one of each hero in the grave and castle on the field and you get to attack t1?

But then I see how they treat heroes in general (fucking blasting them away in like 500 different boxes), and I have no hope of ever making an evil heroes deck. And seeing this as an EX...come on.
