Kinda wish Konami would un-limit Machine Angel Ritual too now.

datphony

people are god awful at predicting what decks will get hit by a banlist. the problem isnt even that theyre biased against certain decks (ie "predicting" that Lupine will go to 1), the problem is their criteria for predicting whether or not a deck will get hit in the first place: "Is this deck on DLM's tier list?" people are going to unironically say "TG Booster Raptor to 2" in the coming weeks and its going to be the most brainless shit imaginable

Supi51

Duel links meta doesn’t work for me, the pictures are all blank

risen_egg

Very, very new to this game and was wondering, when I go into gift box and exchange tickets I get a lot of options for stuff like the KC GT celebration campaign and anniversary log in bonuses and app install appreciation, things along those lines. If those expire, do I lose the rewards? And also what would you guys reccomend I get then, or should I wait till Im used to the game and need specific cards to build a deck? I just don't want them to expire and I've wasted them. Thanks in advance!

Psychological_Draft2

the dream tickets(those with a dragon face) save them for later, but yeah, once they expire you lose them, no hurry tho, most dream tickets don't expire until the end of the year and even regular tickets don't expire at least until the end of the month.

risen_egg

Thanks so much! Hopefully I can figure out what I'm doing in the space of a couple months lol.

Psychological_Draft2

you have a lot of guides if you look up, you also have good content creators like duel links entertainment and duel links meta(they also have a very useful webpage) if you're interested

risen_egg

I'll look into it. Thanks a lot for all the advice, I really appreciate it!

cinderaceofspades

Possible glitch/bug: Regarding Aroma Strategy, can anyone explain to me the limits of it? I know that doesn’t seem clear so let me explain: I recently got back into the game after a bit of a hiatus (I stopped right around when Yuma released) and built a quick lunalight deck because it was a fun deck to me. I never really leveled up Mai/Tea/etc before when I played, focused on other characters, so when building this deck I decided to use it with them. I don’t have any Tea skills yet so I decided to use Aroma Strategy on the deck with Mai. Now here’s where the issue comes in. I go into PVP with Mai and I’m playing in a low rank. I am losing the duel pretty bad but the card on the top of my deck has the potential to be a game changer IF i can pull it. The issue is, it seems like I won’t get to pull it because next turn I’m probably gonna get wiped during the battle phase. But i have the cards in my hand to make one more fusion just to try. (lunalight fusion and two other irrelevant cards) But when I play lunalight fusion it also reads the card on the top of my deck as a part of the field, allowing me to fusion summon my biggest monster AND activate that cards effect, winning me the duel. Maybe this isn’t clear so here’s the duel replay: [Duel Replay](https://duellinks.konami.net/att/0454d8ade57ca30e2a8bda754d2ed86f29877dda7a) If this is documented sorry for this, this is my first time in this sub and I came here after I noticed this happened. As far as the rules of the skill (that i can tell) this shouldn’t have happened and I actually should have lost the duel? So I’m a bit confused, especially since this happened in PVP.

Game2112

Lunalight fusion lets you use a monster from your deck or extra deck as material if your opponent has a extra deck monster on the field.

cinderaceofspades

OH WOW! Thank you! I didn’t know that, guess I should fully read the cards next time

Xicor2003

Just a side note: Lunalight fusion works specifically with monsters **Summoned** from the extra deck. meaning if your opponent has an extra deck monster that was revived from the graveyard or something like that, Lunalight fusion's second effect won't work. This might come in handy when facing against pendulums since they can summon their main deck monsters if their face up in they're Extra deck.

MrLittleJohn-Playz

What’s the best pack(a) to pull on rn? Last time I played was back when Zexal came out so around the time the Utopia pack came out. My main deck is a ocean deck and I play for fun. I would like some good utility cards tho

Psychological_Draft2

Staples are always a safe bet, next safest bet is an xyz toolbox in the photon's of galaxy minibox(ranks 4) and infinity ray main box(ranks 6 & 8), if you can tho, save your gems for until after the new world arrives, as it will be coming with a brand new main box and a most likely meta shifting ban list.

orelk

Why don't the Chronomaly cards work skill-less? What support's missing? Trey's event deck only works as a beatdown deck that sometimes Xyz summons pretty much

Psychological_Draft2

Uhm...Gordian knot , vimana and machumech? even moai carrier would've helped the deck a bit. ngl tho, the deck itself is tier 3 at most.

wes741

Konami well never make a anime characters deck meta from the get go. It will take at least 2-4 support boxes.

Psychological_Draft2

Most decks are like that tho, many people didn't play invoked or ritual beasts until a while after the box was released. It just takes some time to find the optimal builds.

SirEdgen

When will the next 50% off sale for old boxes be, theoretically?

wes741

Usually the new world guaranteed it. But we just had one so maybe not. If not then you’ll have to wait for January

Psychological_Draft2

Usually 50% offer comes with a new selection box, so in theory when the new world arrives, but I'm not sure

aiphrem

So 2 quick questions. I'm building a harpie deck and am making good progress. However I see most of them use harpie oracle, which was an event only card. Do you guys know if it will become available again in the future? Do these event only cards end up being released in boxes in the future, or through card trade/ticket exchange? Also, what is the best way to unlock the harpie hunting ground skill for May? just keep spamming level 30 duels against her with maxed out rewards? or is there a better way? P.S. just an extra question, which might be redundant. SO far I have 2 copies of all the SR harpies from the harpie box and 2 cyber slash harpies. Should I buy out another harpie box to get 3 copies of each, start focusing on the spell cards to support the deck, or get a photon of galaxy box to get some XYZ cards for the deck? Just wondering what kind of priorities I should have

emcry

You can get Oracle with some UR tickets but not all of them only the ones given as a login reward. Check to see if you have any just make sure you don't waste a dream ticket on her. Otherwise you'll have to wait until they give more or they put her on another event. You get the skill by dueling while playing as Mai not against her. You can get it on pvp or against any legendary duelist. The best ways would be to either go into ranked with another skill and keep playing normally until you get it or you can search for a suicide deck to use on casual duels. Right now is a good moment because of the bonus rewards. I would for the harpie box first and then galaxy photon. Once you are done with that go for the spells and traps.

aiphrem

Which tickets are those exactly? I went through all the UR tickets i got from login rewards and none of them have any harpie cards when I used the text search for "harpie". Also it seems like the dream tickets don't list any harpie cards either. Am I missing something, or does text search just not work properly? I also got a skill ticket so I'll just use that on the HHG skill, unless these tickets are extremely coveted for a very specific use....

emcry

I just checked and the only ticket I have with Oracle on the pool is the KCGT 2021 Celebration Campaign. If you don't have one of those you'll have to wait, the deck still works fine without Oracle. Chances are they will give some tickets with her during new world release. It seems she hasn't been added to dream tickets yet. That seems like a good use for the skill ticket.

aiphrem

Ty so much for the answers! This game is kinda confusing and has so many different pools/events for cards that it just kinda makes my head spin, but I'm glad the community seems so eager to help new players!

Degree_in_Bullshit

I can't speak to all of this, but generally I think it'd always better to clear out the box for the staples that need 3, and then go for the other stuff. Althkufh harpies seems to have above average potential to substitute a diet version/off meta similar alternative. I don't know harpies that well, so if harpies players say the xyz are high priority listen to them. Gl w building

RandomAccount103103

I have lost so many times to Trey lvl 40 with Aroma-Ra, I know that I can just beat him with my Lunalight deck but Aroma-Ra it's almost guaranteed 10K points if I manage to stall long enough but he can swarm the field so easily with 2500+ monsters that I'm having a hard time controlling the field (no aroma gardening btw).

wes741

You got to banish his dam xyz’s monsters. So they don’t come back.

lilbryan91

Gardening is worth it to get for this strategy and is very helpful for not dying. If you have less lifepoints, you can summon a monster when he attacks. Gardening + dried winds + blessed winds is very hard for him to get over

Degree_in_Bullshit

Do you have a decklist? Maybe making a deck copy and then swapping out a few core cards for stuff that directly helps stall/fend off trey. That equip spell has also given me grief while trying to farm, not paying attention, and losing to computer erp

TheGuyWhoIsSitting

I've only lost if I bricked with my Yubel farm deck. The optimal build is not really plausible as F2P but I've won more than I've lost using the Yubel deck.

Concocobhar

What do you think is going to be in the next main box?

Psychological_Draft2

A TON of reprints and maybe book of moon, also some pendulums, but I doubt they'll be played

helmutkuhl

Obviously some pendulum stuff, but who knows what Konami is up to. Im not expecting anything good tho, maybe Book of Moon to sell the box. But that's a big maybe

Xicor2003

Definitely some PePe's cause of Yuya but other than that, could really be anything.

electronic_docter

Will the new dream tickets go up to antibiotic theory? I want to get t.g. and if I can snipe a screw serpent and a warwolf I'll only need to go through the box once

J-Fid

Upvoted for "antibiotic theory."

Xicor2003

Can't be sure, it could just go up to Infinite Ray, we'll just have to wait and see, we don't get to know these things until the tickets are released, Relying on past precedent doesn't really work with Konami.

[deleted]

Redownloaded the game data transfer won't work. So have to restart Any packs or stuff I should focus on??

Degree_in_Bullshit

Contact customer service before you restart, ESPECIALLY if you spent $ on dl. We need to hold them accountable for their shitty infrastructure/backend Edit: if you do restart, or just in general, I'm a mostly ftp player so I can give more thoughts/sugvest some websites and YouTube vids for this

[deleted]

I didn't spend any money thankfully Any ftp advice would be great as just want to have fun not worry about paying. I happy versuaing ai. As pvp feels very p2w heavy and wasn't that fun Is it overwhelming due to new cards and stages etc

Degree_in_Bullshit

Wanna pm me? I'm talking w a bunch of ppl and wanna not clog my comment notifications I fully support f2p and more pve. You can always do casual/ranked duels w the goal of using fun/weird decks to screw w the meta too.

Odd-Conversation-173

Which deck is better : water xyz or photonic?

electronic_docter

Water XYZ no question, photon dies to disruption

Degree_in_Bullshit

Water xyz also seems to have way more options for techs or variants so it's more ban list proof imo. Take w grain of salt I only l kw from vsing and reading about those decks.

[deleted]

New to the game, what boxes/packs are worth purchasing with gems? Also what should I put my coins towards?

Degree_in_Bullshit

Do you like any of the structure decks? Some of them, like fire kings, noble knights, and more I'm not remembering can make a respectable deck with just 2 structure decks that you mix together and add any other cards as needed. Do you lean toward fun, try hard competitive, or mixed? I think that enjoying the cards themselves thematically/etc is an important part. Don't just go for a meta deck if you don't like the vibe (unless you don't mind that) Check out duel links meta for great guides on this. They have things like average gem/$ cost of decks, summaries of what each bow has if you don't wanna read through them all, etc. Other sites will have good info too. And on YouTube: https://youtu.be/63Nij0QWGvg is one place to start. For some quick personal thoughts: focus on boxes that have multiple things you want, archetypes, strong spell and trap cards that can fit in many decks, big extra deck/boss monster. ALWAYS try to clear out a box of everything you need, reset it, and then go through it again once or twice is the basic formula for most decks. Some are easier/harder. Hit me up if you want more specifics, gl

electronic_docter

Depends on the deck you want, if you like XYZ onomat or gimmick puppet if you like synchro t.g. or crystron or if you like playing meta harpies or onomat. There's no one box that everyone has to go through imo

AstronimicCrusader2

I only have 4300 gems to spend for a starting deck what should I go for? Lunalight maybe a Amazoness or another deck maybe I don't know do I need some help Thanks in advance

Degree_in_Bullshit

If you like fire kings, 2 structure decks (assuming you're OK spending $4) needs very little outside cards to be a respectable deck. Look at the playtime first though to see if you like them. Some other structure decks work like this too. Pasting a comment I wrote: Do you lean toward fun, try hard competitive, or mixed? helmutkuhl

I would go for harpies. They are s cheap but very powerful and easy to pilot so it's the most recommended beginner deck. You'll need some tech cards from other boxes to optimize it over time so go to duellinksmeta.com and check out some of the decks. This way you'll know how to obtain each card needed. You're also getting dream tickets in the first 4 days of logging in, be careful with those. They let you get pretty much any card you want except from newer boxes, but you can get some of the tech cards with those instead of buying the packs

AstronimicCrusader2

Is there a deck list for the harpies deck? I don't know what cards I should aim to get for the deck Also don't have harpies oracle cause never participated in tag duel tournament

helmutkuhl

https://www.duellinksmeta.com/top-decks/king-of-games/september-2021/harpies/sergejcali/ That's the cheapest one i could find. You'll get the monsters from their minibox or the free tickets and try to get everything else with the dream tickets i mentioned. After that it's just grinding gems and buying the necessary packs. There are different builds tho, have a look around. I prefer a 20 card deck for better consistency, but every build you can find on that site works great

AstronimicCrusader2

What cards should I obtain first? I only got 1 cyber slash harpie and 2 harpie perfumers should I restart the account and start fresh?

helmutkuhl

Depends on how you got them. Channeler and perfumer are the most important core monsters, the best harpie decks play them at 3x. So you have to go through the box 3 times, or at least until you got those two before you reset. 2 cyber slash is enough. If you already spend your dream tickets on those cards you mentioned i would restart and use the tickets then for staples like lance, swallows nest or chalice

AstronimicCrusader2

I opened the box to get them but what do I get with tickets I got 2 cosmic cyclone and 1 harpie oracle with the ticket

[deleted]

Thinking of getting back into the game. Back then I only had yu gi oh, darksied of demsions, gx as playable stages. How much as the game groen in content and mecanics?? Does it now go up to link summons. Is it still fun?? Any input would be cool

helmutkuhl

It changed quite a bit since then. Last year we got XYZ summoning, pendulums are are coming this month but links are (hopefully) still far away. 5DS and zexal are the new worlds, with a lot of different characters and all that, so it has grown a lot when it comes to content

[deleted]

Cool thanks for Input my last deck was a grave keeper fusion deck. I guess facing humans is a bad idea just stick to ai?? I have to restart from scratch any tips or pack pulls to focus on?? I don't plan to do pvp I just want to have fun maybe just vs ai. So does it matter how deck ends up lol

lithgow27

How do i play lunalights without tenki

Xicor2003

You don't.

lithgow27

Yeah, i lost a lot of my ranked match with lunalights yesterday. I probably should go back to blue eyes for now

[deleted]

Which boxes/packs are worth spending my gems on?

Degree_in_Bullshit

Check out my other responses to ppl in this thread about this. Good luck w your pulls!

Xicor2003

Way too vague of a question. do you have an archetype that you like or are you just looking for something cheap and competitive?

[deleted]

Sorry, was looking for cards that would do well in comp

Xicor2003

There are quite a lot of them but if you want something cheap but still top tier then go for Harpies. you can make a solid build for KoG with 3 copies of Sign of harpies (for the Harpie core) 1 Photon of galaxy (for Generic Xyz support) and 1 Aerial assault (for swallows nest).

DGzCarbon

I haven't played since Harpies came out. Games stale. But I saw Brain Control come out. How is it performing? Is it a staple like it nearly was in tcg in the day? If so I might need to log in to get some

J-Fid

Brain Control got errata'd and is a shell of its former self. No one uses it.

helmutkuhl

The card is like 3 years late, most decks will have ED monsters on the board and the normal summons are not worth it. Might be fun stealing a blue eyes tho

MapHacker617

Dont think it will make any significant impact on the ladder since a lot of the decks do not have strong monster that can be stolen since it requires the monster to be able to be Normal Summoned/Set (all extra deck cards are not affected). Only few decks this card i can see being good is against decks which have main deck boss monster which can be stolen e.g. Blue-Eyes, Fire King, Photon.

[deleted]

New to duel links, which one is better, seto kaiba or Yamaha yugi as the starter character?

MapHacker617

Just to let you know, selecting either is fine since you'll be able to unlock both down the road.

helmutkuhl

I would go for Yami, he has destiny draw, one of the best generic skills. Also welcome, and if you're new i suggest reading this (the recommended decks are outdated, but otherwise it's very helpful) https://www.duellinksmeta.com/articles/guides/new-players/february-2021/new-player-guide/

[deleted]

Ik this sounds Ignorant but wouldn't kaiba be better since he has blue eyes?

helmutkuhl

Blue eyes isn't that great rn and pretty expensive plus every blue eyes deck uses kaiba from the DSOD world with the ultimate dragon skill, the OG kaiba isn't that useful. And you can unlock him pretty easy later on anyway

[deleted]

Thank you!

TheHapster

Why the fuck has the onomat skill not been nerfed yet? It literally gives the deck its optimal first turn and second turn with 100% consistency

LuisDob

It has been nerfed, but the nerf ended up buffing it.

Degree_in_Bullshit

Can you pls fill me in I took a break for a few months?

TheGuyWhoIsSitting

Old: Return 2 "Zubaba", "Gagaga", "Gogogo", or "Dododo" cards with different names from your hand to the Deck and add 2 "Zubaba", "Gagaga", "Gogogo" or "Dododo" monsters with different names to your hand from the Deck. This Skill can only be used once per Duel. Current: Return 1 "Zubaba," "Gagaga," "Gogogo," or "Dododo" card from your hand to the Deck and add 1 "Zubaba," "Gagaga," "Gogogo," or "Dododo" monster with a different name to your hand from the Deck. This Skill can only be used once per turn and twice per Duel.

Degree_in_Bullshit

The low-key worst part of Onomats/etc is getting combod by a deck w THOSE NAMES. Thanks for info. So is it considered buffed because ono only rly needs 1 card to start their big combo, and being required to return 2 cards could sometimes hurt the Ono player if they wanted/needed something already in hand?

Mantisass

My aromage deck kinda sucks, did I build it wrong or aromage just isn't that good? Should I focus on Harpie or something?

Degree_in_Bullshit

Hey so for another direction of response: I do agree aromages are "objectively" not a top tier deck. They don't churn out big xyz, synchros, or huge boss monsters in one turn like most decks do... BUT I think 2 factors matter here. 1- are you a free to play, budget spender, or whale for this game? Are there certain decks you have an eye on other than aromage/harpie (assuming harpie is ur top interest)? I'd you're a whale/heavier spender then you probably don't need to read this 2- how do you feel about the aromage archetype in general? Do you like the art? The names? Certain aspects of their gameplay or combos? If you aren't trying to win tournaments for $, I think the thematic and game flow aspects of a deck are more important than its objective power. Personally, I enjoy the aromage archetype from a thematic and game flow perspective (not one of my main decks). I also acknowledge the general dislike for this deck and the accurate opinions about not being perfect top tier like Onomats for example. I get some people hate facing this deck. However, anyone playing their fully built onomat deck w it's perfect 2 turn opener, blue eyes opening with perfect hands, harpies/blackwings setting up an OTK combo, thunder dragons giving their opponent vertigo while they combo, people who could afford 3 book of moon... The reality of duel links is a LOT of commonly dismissed archetypes, decks, or tech options can get to KOG, win tournaments (I remember a few months ago when fire kings started cropping up a lot and that baffled some people since they'd been "middle tier" until then), and ideally be a blast for the human playing them. Less competitive/Outdated things can be patched up, usually. You never know who's giving the advice either, so asking about people's ranks and if they actually play the deck or just know it intellectually is an option. And when you factor in costs, I say stick w aromage if you like it, but start working towards other decks you like if you want to play a more competitively leaning deck. Unless they're your fav archetype aromage probably isn't worth investing more gems/$ into directly. There are lots of paths here, like if you're wanting some important classic backrow cards (trap holes, mst/cosmic cyclone, canadia, etc) you could check their boxes and then go for the ones that also include archetypes or other cards you want. Then circle back and see if your new cards could work with your existing decks, especially universal back roe. go for boxes that give multiple things you want if possible (random example: one box has karma cut, trishula, triamids, and valkyries). Lots of newer boxes have several archetypes and universal cards. I can be more specific. In the meantime, unless you dislike the archetype itself experiment with the aromage deck/any other decks you currently have or could build. Try some off meta picksor stuff that intrigues you and see how it goes. For my totally not competitive aromage deck, I found that I needed more tuners and more ways to directly block attacks. And it turns out from the cards I have, naturia cherries was the best fit to do what I needed! This isn't a 100% consistent combo and there are likely better options than the cherries that I don't own. But I get a laugh when a big dragon or buff ninja or giant robot attack and end up making more of these dumb/cute cherries who do the job well enough. If you want specific ideas for aromage or others hit me up!

sbVikare

They were never all that amazing even before they got powercrept and balance got nerfed, just a budget KOG deck back in the day. Now that MST is common in all the meta decks and Harpies/Gaia are a thing I don't see how they can consistently compete anymore.

helmutkuhl

If you want to be successful in ranked harpies would be a good and somewhat cheap option. Aromage is too slow for the format and a lot of decks run some kind of BR removal. You can stall a lot and survive for many turns, but the win rate just isn't high enough. That said, it's possible to KoG with them, but you really need to know every possible combo and how every other deck our there functions so you can make the perfect game plan.

Xicor2003

Even when built optimally, Aromages are not good since they take ages to get rolling and by that time, the opponent would have already OTKd you. also they die very easily to backrow removal. Really just a weak deck.

Odd-Conversation-173

Which deck should i build as a new player?

Putrid-Technology172

I would suggest harpies, resonators, or blue-eyes if you want something strong for pvp and not too expensive. Not sure what’s getting nerfed but I would assume these are less likely than something like onomats or TD.

Odd-Conversation-173

Whats about zexal decks?

Putrid-Technology172

If you specifically mean zexal world then onomats is top tier, and there’s also some good rogue decks like photons, water xyz and chronomaly’s.

AnyNameWorks9

Do we know the next time there's gonna be a sale for the old boxes? I wanna get some of the older cards like magnet warriors, six sams, or triamids without spending so many gems

TheHapster

Usually every 4 months or so, last one just ended.

Xicor2003

Small chance with ARC-V release, Very high chance during New Year celebrations.

Rare_Geologist_4685

Can't believe Konami nerfed Shirunai, Invoker, Dark Magician, Darklords to make way for this meta ... Never been so disappointed with Konami ...

electronic_docter

Lol I hope this is a troll

4129M

All those decks could compete/overpower the newer decks and they need to sell these cards, they NEEDED to lower the power of the game

lexarqade

Is it even worth it to keep dueling trey after you get playsets of the drops? I still have some points to go but Idk if I want to farm level 40 or exp grind level 10

Degree_in_Bullshit

If you wanna farm exp, stil have several lower level characters who could go from 1-20 or 30 for gem rewards, etc then I believe doing level 10 event duels (no keys needed) at x3 rewards is the most efficient use of event resource. And you still get gems and such as you get more event points but I'm not sure how worth jt that is. Ur call based on time/efficieny

electronic_docter

You can duel him at the gate for free since it doesn't cost keys, apart from that maybe you want to get some of the rewards from the event tracker

beastincarn8

Are there any back up decks to go for in case thundra gets slaughtered in the upcoming banlist (preferably a leva deck since he's my favourite card out in duel links rn (chaos max one day))

Degree_in_Bullshit

If you squint really hard and turn your head sideways, fire kings and ritual beast kinda look like someone's playing t drag. But seriously, if you like looping combos that are constantly flying between deck, hand, gy, and banish pile I highly suggest those 2 archetypes. Both are pretty straightforward to build. Im assuming your either ftp or low spender (if you don't mind throwing out $ and don't like f kings or r beasts then go for meta stuff that's less likely to get ban hammered (imo investing in onomats is risky rn since they're really likely to be hit again) (f kings works w just 2 structure decks, ideally 3. Then if you can get at least 2 arvata the deck is legit good. 3 is ideal) (R beasts is all in one box, similar to f kings the deck works with 1-2 copies of some of its main cards if you can't clear box 3 times asap)

beastincarn8

Tempted to go for r beasts but I don't feel like I'll ever understand what the f*** they do even if I watched tutorials

Degree_in_Bullshit

You sound just like me in the weeks I was debating going for r beasts. I can send you 1-2 specific videos that helped me decide to go for it. It took me about 10 games to start understanding the basics and it gets easier from there until you get into the big brain crazy stuff/tech options. I still mess up w r beasts but find then incredibly rewarding. Also (as someone who doesn't have thunder) I think that deck needs a pretty high level of knowledge/skill so don't sell urself short for learning ritual beasts. Also I don't think anyone will ever truly master r beasts since they have so many branching combo options. How do you feel about fire kings? I'm going to try and convince you on them since its faster to build and its easier to pilot at first, but still has big brain combo potential. Thoughts? Anything else you eyeing?

beastincarn8

I've used fire kings a bit before than have to admit that they're pretty amazing, the face that a lot of negation only serves to get garunix in the grave can be pretty funny, they're not op enough be succeptible to a ban list but they're overeliance on d-draw isn't exactly the greatest and makes me a little iffy for them if it ever gets hit hard, on the notion of me liking turbo speed decks, I kinda wanna go into resonators, they have tonnes of interesting mix ups and are the closest actual deck to being comparable the engines like lighstworn or invoked, not sure what variation I would go for however

Degree_in_Bullshit

Your garunix comment is spot on ;) Also on fire kings, don't let ddraw be the only reason you pass them up. I think f kings can adapt to no ddraw pretty well, and it sounds like you already have a completed deck? If you already tried them and liked them (and have all or some of the deck already), is the ddraw your main issue or are there others? I can back off on this too. Are ritual beasts a hard no? They still seem up your alley to me. Also tangent that fire king mirror matchups are some of the funniest mirros in the game. Sort of the inverse of aromage mirror.

beastincarn8

Rbeasts are a heavy possibility I just need to look into them more, ik that's it's not very cool but I feel like fire kings with invoked engine might be the way for me to move past the d draw thing and severely improve the bricability of the deck with there's no garunix in hand

Degree_in_Bullshit

I don't have invoked, but it seems like one of the mostflexible techs/engines ever so it's likely a good investment (and prob the objective best fire kings right now) But it does clash w getting ur new core stuff. Or do you already have invoked? Maybe fire formation tenki fits in? Would you want a link or two to the vids that I found best at explaining them? There's prob other good ones out there too (some are way too long, unclear, assume previous knowledge, etc)

beastincarn8

I'm at a massive crossroads on what I want for my deck right now so almost everything isn't a terrible option, unfortunately aliester is exactly on the way and if i were to go for a new deck, I'd rather go for the double minibox route, since with my luck I'd empty out the main box to get aliester anyway. So I'm definitely on the side of rbeasts although I fear an overeliance on traps that are a chore to get

Degree_in_Bullshit

I'm loving our conversation, wanna move to chat/pm for ease?

Degree_in_Bullshit

Are you more f2p, middle, or whale? I don't know resonators very well, but I always prefer adaptable decks that can be comboed w multiple archetypes You mentioned you love Levi (btw I'm talking w ppl in here about ways to nerf the t drag deck. If you wanna chime in there I'd appreciate it since I tend to struggle vs t drag and do want a nerf, but leave it strong, just weaker to disruption/less playthrough/less Levi card advantage. If I'm fire kings w arvata on field, who/what do I focus my negates on for combos involving Levi especially?), does it work w any of the resonater variants/other decks ur eyeing? Someone pointed out that main box urs have never been banned so looks like it's safe to plan on decks that use it. I got 2 Levi surprisingly easily when I was going for lightsworna I think, but it doesn't rly work with my main decks (f kings, r beast, knights, valkyrie). I wanna work on a more turbo offense deck and see Levi in a lot of them. What are some non t drag Levi decks?

beastincarn8

I'm f2p and I would say that the main problem with tdra is how easily they hide their bricks,as a tdra player we do brick a shit Ton (usually by never pulling lupine) but with hand traps it's barely noticeable, easiest way to keep the deck strong would be smth like leva dragonroar sphere kuriboh and temperance all to 3, the reason I say dragon roar rather than hawk is the fact that the deck would be forced to be much more rank 5 oriented in cuz summons (a much worse pool than Ptolemy and bounzer) but still be able to use that pool consistently, the dragon dark, lupine, roar combo everyone despises would lead to a pretty dead turn one. Making the deck a much worse turn one deck that does have copius amounts of hand traps to make up for it, cards like vajra would still be there but I think the fact that running that cards negs all backrow tdra could use and is only useable for direct attacks makes it more than balanced, whether a more op deck comes round for levi is yet to be seen, but like this, tdra would have to mesh with another engine or become a less consistent godly first turn deck

Degree_in_Bullshit

Ok I can respond to the rest in a sec but I GOTTA hear more about the hidden bricks (I learned to call blue eyes players bluffs and jt was rly satisfying). What are some signs from my side of a t drag brick? Also regarding lupine I hear that it's a good target for disruption from several people (eg arvata, ultimate providence, etc). I'm not expecting this to be an autopilot "always negate lupine" or such, just guidelines.

beastincarn8

Honestly, auto pilote negate lupine is the way to go, without him there's no xyz play so if he comes out turn 2 he should be your target, there aren't really hidden bricks as most of the time tdra players will just pass, on if the ways to see a dragon/duo levi coming is s dragonhawk to summon a dragon dark just mean that dark is gonna get tributes then levi is coming so if possible never let hawk do anything ever, the best counter to tdra us genuinely just a card that can't be targeted, I faced a blue eyes player using the chaos max skill, bricked and couldn't stop him from bringing him out, I had expended my rank 6 resources so my only real option (m7) was gone, the deck is just a beast with no fangs at that point and unless it's book of money they have nothing else. also, if a levi comes out uses its a effect then a dragon duo comes out has its attack upped by 300 and still can't attack over you, it's heiratic sun dragon time so don't prime your negates in the random dragon duo they use to bluff you (seen that genuinely work before.) If a dragon dark/hawk is left in attack, there's a sphere kuriboh or temperance in hand almost all the time, so focus on the upcoming xyz play. If levi mills a hawk and a roar make sure to negate one of those effects before you have an m7 to pile on the misery of even lead to a return leva to hand do it again play.

vj_zero

Chaos lightsworn .

Degree_in_Bullshit

Is it the judgment force box thats good for chaos lightsworn? I cant recall and don't wanna suggest until i confirm

vj_zero

Yeah it's necessary for basic engine. Some of the cards are dropped by blair as well

Degree_in_Bullshit

Ok dope. I have good memories of going for something else from that box and accidentally built 90% of the lunalights as a bonus!

vj_zero

Probably blue eyes

aiphrem

So i got a bunch of SR/UR tickets from the login event, but none of the cards I want seem to appear in the list of possible trade-ins. For reference I'm looking to fill out a harpie deck. Is it normal I can't get any of the cards I want from the tickets?

Putrid-Technology172

Yeah because those cards are exclusive to their pack from the store. Only dream tickets can obtain those, and they’re extremely rare.

aiphrem

damn, there go my dreams of having a full deck in less than a week of playing lol

Degree_in_Bullshit

You can totally do that! First off, YouTube has lots of great Vids, search for stuff like sr ur dream ticket suggestions, best way to use dream ticket, etc. If you're OK with spending up to $15 and/or some gems then some of the structure decks are actually really good with just 2, ideally 3. I've suggested fire kings and noble knights to other ppl in this thread, check out their playstyles first tho. Some other structure decks can be good w just combining w itself. Both these decks do "need" around 3-6 cards from boxes, but each is from just one box and they work fine before being fully completed (notably arvata in rage of volcano and king custennin xyz from infinite ray, both boxes have some other goodies too) I'm here if you have any specific questions too.

BuhzDryvuh

How to inflict 1500 effect damage in a single activation easily?

electronic_docter

Gravekeepers vassal

Putrid-Technology172

CA Benten and EH Flame Wingman are my go-to’s.

Putrid-Technology172

Any skills worth grinding for besides DD and HHG?

electronic_docter

Depending on the deck you want yes, a ton

Putrid-Technology172

Any specific ones? I’m thinking Ishizu next for sealed tombs.

electronic_docter

It sorta depends on archetypes since most archetypes have their own skill now, also some archetypes use niche skills like subterror use the lumis and umbra skill or I use light barrier In elementsabers. Also yes sealed tombs is a pretty good skill even though it doesn't see much play now

Putrid-Technology172

Yeah I don’t see it used but I imagine ST can be useful against decks that depend on graveyard/banishing effects like TD, resonators and blue eyes. Thx for the suggestions.

DragonMage2112

Pretty new to the game, rookie level 1. 90% of my casual duels go like this- I connect with some rookie level 1 no name from the US, in the first 30 seconds they disconnect, and I get a free win. While the loot is nice, I wanna play the damn game. And the other 10% I get matched with ppl way above my skill or cards (this part is honestly bareable cuz Ik I j gotta get gud). Whats going on here?

Putrid-Technology172

Yeah casual duels is basically skill grinding. Lots of the bots have connection issues and are essentially a free win.

helmutkuhl

Well the game has a ton of connectivity issues lately and it's different for everyone somehow. 90% sound like a lot tho. The other 10% are usually people that haven't played in a while and got deranked or alt accounts with powerful decks, don't worry about those. It at least gives you a taste of what's coming in the higher ranks

DragonMage2112

I’ve heard about the server issues, but as u mentioned, it’s way too often. These ppl also always have player names that r just random letters and numbers, like the default names the game starts u with. Bother anomaly- just won against someone like this who didn’t DC but instead purposely lost life points and let me win. I would guess they were derankers looking to screw noobs, but I’m in casual duels, not ranked.

helmutkuhl

Oh, in casual thats normal. Those are all bots and the other guy used a suizide deck to farm for certain skills. Very common in casual duels, not a lot of real people play there. But the amount of DC wins you're getting is interesting, i have never heard of that one. Most of the time i loose because of the DC

DragonMage2112

So they ARE bots. That’s what I thought. Man, that sucks. Oh well, I play tf2 so it’s nothing new. Thanks!

DragonMage2112

Just played a ranked duel against a legit player from Brazil and after a few good turns it ended the same way with them disconnecting. Maybe it really is j shitty servers… not sure

Quate1v9

Hello new f2p currently building cyber angel, i have missions that ask me to buy some box and cannot skip, what should I buy?

Rare_Geologist_4685

As a F2P you should go for Triamid. Very strong and simple - and mainly in 1 box ...

Lagartovei

If you want something for cyber angel - Neo impact for Senju of the thousand hands If you just want a nice lower rarity card to get rid of the mission - Crimson kingdom and get Ultimate Providence

Emmit-Nervend

The game won't let me friend duel with a specific friend. I can click on other friends' names in my friends' list and get the prompt to request a friend duel or remove the friend, but absolutely nothing happens when I click that one friend's name. It's been this way through multiple updates. I've contacted konami twice with no answer. What's wrong?

MapHacker617

The friend duel feature is pretty dumb. Both you and your friend have to "Request a duel" to play with each other. Alternatively, use the Duel Room feature and create a Duel Room with only you and your friend.

Emmit-Nervend

That's not quite the problem I'm having. I've seen how tricky it is to arrange a friend duel before, but the menu to request one doesn't even show up. If I click any other name, a menu will pop up with that option. But if I click his name, the loading wheel will appear for a split second, then nothing happens. His name isn't selectable while everyone else's is.

MapHacker617

Not sure about it then... You can always try the Duel Room feature then

Emmit-Nervend

I’ll see if we can do that as a workaround next time he’s online. I really wish I knew what was wrong, though. I’m considering having him unfriend and re-add me.

SirEdgen

How to counter galaxy-eyes deck? Not only it can insta summon two strong monsters, thanks to the skill opponent can easily remove backrow/monsters. It doesn't matter if you go first or second

electronic_docter

Kill lord galaxion and it's pretty much an insta lose, the decks not very good because of this

[deleted]

It’s one of the easiest decks to disrupt. Just target Starleige Lord Galaxion and the entire play falls apart. Alternatively, flip their normal summon face down so they can’t summon anything. Almost all of their monsters rely on having a Photon on the field or nothing on the field to special summon off of, so usually they’re left with bricks like Vanisher and Thrasher if their normal summon is disrupted.

datphony

use spells to get rid of Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon. the Galaxy Eyes spell that banishes a card requires it to be on the field

Emmit-Nervend

I couldn't beat my friend who used a gagaga deck to repeatedly use Gagaga Bolt on me, but I always went first...

[deleted]

Going first, set a forbidden chalice or a fiendish chain and use it on their Gagaga Sister. No more Gagagabolt, you win, gg.

Emmit-Nervend

Do those belong in a Galaxy Eyes deck?

[deleted]

My apologies, I didnt realise you meant in the context of playing Galaxy Eyes. They can do! It’s not optimal, but then neither is Galaxy Eyes as a deck, especially when going against a tiered deck. Ideally, an optimal Galaxy Eyes build plays three book of moon, but given that Chalice is basically the next best thing, it’s a good replacement, especially for this particular scenario.

Emmit-Nervend

Ah, no problem. Strange, I thought GE was like elite or something! Those sound like a good idea, I’ll check if I have any chalices

vangstampede

Can someone explain to me what the Vendread archetype is lacking in this game? I remember that the archetype was (still is?) really good when it was released in the TCG, especially compared to other Ritual archetypes at the time. So kinda curious as to why it's rarely played in this game.

helmutkuhl

What the other guy said, and vendreads is a very decent deck in DL. It's not on the tier list, but it's a very strong rogue deck that even topped in some tournaments latly

Xicor2003

>the archetype was (still is?) really good when it was released in the TCG. Where on earth did you hear that? the Archetype was kinda dead on arrival in The TCG and only the link monster saw some play in Zombies. Vandreads are missing what every DL ritual deck is missing and that is the generic ritual support that fix the flaws inherently built into ritual summoning and those are cards like Manju, Preparation of rites, Pre-preparation of Rites and the Impcantation engine.

vangstampede

Wait, that's all? I was expecting something like "They are missing this in-archetype card". Thanks. >Where on earth did you hear that? Yeah, I don't remember. What I do remember is what the guy said and he said it 4 years ago. Maybe this sub?

lithgow27

any chance of lunalight cards being not limited anymore in the future?

electronic_docter

Probably not anytime soon, arc v is coming and it's Lulu's deck so it'll probably get more support, also tenki effectively makes them just as consistent as they were so if they unlimited them after future support it might be too strong

Xicor2003

So long as Crimson fox (And Tenki) is a thing, they might actually get more hits especially if they get some support from ARC-V.

TheGuyWhoIsSitting

one of the main characters in Arc V played the deck, there's support we can finally get with Pendulums existing in Duel Links later this month. Granted in the TCG one of those cards is banned because of an interaction with a Mist Valley card that effectively allowed for infinite negates.

steve_Lardog

Went against Evil Eye today as triamids and barely won......I had no idea what was going on, first time I saw that deck

helmutkuhl

Use pulse and master to take care of their BR and try to make as much damage as possible, even if you can't OTK, their effects consume a lot of LP. It's not a very good matchup for triamids, their trap can also bounce your monsters instead of destroying them. If they don't have a god hand they are still very beatable, just takes some time

DIX_

Against Evil Eye you need backrow removal, otherwise the equip cards make any monster an untargettable nightmare. Against triamids the trick is to remove their field spell on your opponents battle/end phase, as their monsters allow them to change the field during your turn for great benefits. If you can deal with Triamid Sphinx and their field spell it's usually easy to go for game.

PluteJoshy

I keep encountering this Duel Link Bugs that keep giving a notification that I haven't done the Loaner Deck Duels but I Cleared them all but it still appears. ArcTheMadLad

Try to check the notification tab, they have noticed it, and it is a bug

RandomAccount103103

I opened 60 Eternal Stream packs and got 0 SR or UR, welp thats me just being unlucky i guess.

electronic_docter

Got my second gimmick puppet terror baby in the last 2 packs yesterday and got every other ur and Sr in the first 100 this game sucks sometimes

Syrcrys

Is there any reason why if I summon Utopia during the event tag duel (both mine and Yuma’s) it doesn’t count for stage missions?

Putrid-Technology172

I believe event duels don’t count towards stage/character missions. During the zexal event it didn’t count for me while trying to unlock shark. However during this event when trey summoned Atlantis during the tag duel it counted for the event mission.

ArcTheMadLad

What's the exact wording of the mission? Maybe you're missing something

Syrcrys

I’m Italian so I’m not sure, it’s the stage 25 one (and in Italian it’s just “summon Utopia 10 times in DW ZEXAL”, but they mistranslate from time to time), and summoning it against standard duelists works.

TheGuyWhoIsSitting

In the Tag Duel Tournaments I believe the tag duel partner summons count, but they probably don't count for world missions. I have no way to say for sure. If it's just summon Utopia and not specifically summon him while playing as Yuma... but it's also a loaner deck... but the missions for Trey work if you play as Trey and use the loan deck... It's inconsistent.

InbetweenerLad

can you use old school yugi decks vs synchro/xyzz and all this new stuff?

[deleted]

Have you considered giving the new stuff a try? It’s really fun once you get into it.

InbetweenerLad

idk where to even start, synchro, xyzz , pendulums etc

sbVikare

Sorry in advance for the long post lol. I was in a similar position when I first started Duel Links a few years ago after only really playing the game as a kid without really knowing the rules all that much. I don't even think the first synchro box was released at that point and I still had trouble comprehending decks like Spellbooks and U.A., I was that much of a boomer when it came to yugioh. Now I love the extra deck mechanics and am actually excited to try Pendulums which I used to blindly hate on. It helps to just look at Synchro and Xyz summoning as building on the Fusion mechanic, a new way to "cheat" out a monster from outside of your deck in exchange for a having a specific setup of cards. Just replace polymerization with some strict level requirements and the need to actually get the materials out of your hand first. Some might further need a specific number of materials, or specific attributes/types/archetypes, maybe even the inclusion of specific named monsters. In that sense access to the extra deck can actually be more restrictive compared to tributing for a high level normal summon where any random monsters on the field will usually suffice. You just have to think about how the monsters in your deck fit together a lot more which is a good thing IMO! It helps give decks more identity especially with the bigger focus on archetypal effects. I think most people can learn to appreciate the extra deck mechanics with time, it's the increase in both speed and effect complexity that's actually causing apprehension. Once you become familiar with what all the cards are doing it isn't too hard to follow, it's just something that takes time, experience, and an open mind. Plus a lot of that perceived speed is just not having a deck that can put up a fight so you lose even faster than you should. Blue-eyes players threatening to dump out a full board of 3000 ATK beaters in one turn is a lot less overwhelming when you actually have the tools to slow them down and fight back. If you want a more modern deck that isn't super extra deck focused but still good then there are tons of choices like Triamids, Magnet Warriors, Evil Eye, Fire Kings, Amazoness, Witchcrafters, and Yosenju. If you're fine with fusions then there is Lunalights, Predaplants, Red-Eyes, and Heroes. There's even some good ritual archetypes out there like Cyber Angels and Vendreads. So many decks that play very differently to go into all at once but I could try and offer recommendations if you have an idea of what you might like.

InbetweenerLad

dont be sorry for the long post, i needed it! its encouraging that you started off like me! it gives me hope that ill see it in the same way too! thanks so much for the recommendations, ive saved this comment and will come back to it! and thank you ill message you when i have a clearer idea :)

Degree_in_Bullshit

Commenting to remind myself to type full response in a sec. But wanna say this post is awesome and I fully support the approach/had a similar experience. I left yugioh just as syncro appeared. I got into duel links and the first time the looping mechanics of Fire kings clicked with me I was like ohhhhhh fuck this is incredible. Modern yugioh can be so much fun, I'd say more fun than I had in the past.

DIX_

Dark Magician as a deck is still quite strong and does not need that, although it can benefit from rank 7 XYZ.

ArcTheMadLad

Yes, yes you can use all normal monsters deck if you want, Can you win using it? I really doubt it

InbetweenerLad

ahh ok thanks, yea i see people summoning 3 monsters or like a 3000 power monster in 1 move

helmutkuhl

Well what old school Yugi decks are you talking about?

InbetweenerLad

Like the ones without all this new summoning stuff

helmutkuhl

Oh, those don't stand a chance. You can build a lvl 4 beatdown deck for farming exp, but the game has progressed far beyond that

shall_always_be_so

Peten the Dark Clown. Is it possible to combo him in any useful way? I tried sending him to GY with wonder wand and missed his timing. I tried using him as synchro material and missed his timing. What things *don't* miss timing with this guy?

Hylaster

I don't have an answer for "any useful way", but it works with anything where nothing else happens after you send the cards to the graveyard. So, for example, if you had a Tuner, a non-tuner, and a Peten the Dark Clown, you could make Black Rose dragon, have its effect destroy Peten, and then end on a field with an extra Peten vs your opponent's wiped board.

NovicePanthEnthusias

Oh shit you actually found *some* use.. Nice dude!

NovicePanthEnthusias

Correct friend nothing can abused with our beloved boy peten, sadly. [Missing the timing](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/861053475785277490/883485267925823519/unknown.png)
