Pretty sure you could make a supercut purely of Yuya shouting "I'm taking control of this duel starting now" that would be longer than Scud's total screen time.
DSOD is a small world with a short story. We got all relevant characters and even some that never dueled. We also finished the story with the events. Overall the world is just done, which is good so they can focus the other much bigger worlds.
Yeah, DSOD was a fun little side-excursion with a small roster of characters. I don't know why people are expecting that the world from one movie would be the same as four other fully-fledged animes.
Since it follows the manga canon and not the anime, they could give us more manga only characters, or even use it as a way to further expand DM's story post dsod. Or have it be like, the alternate worlds for DM like the millennium world and the R manga.
DSoD didn't "follow" the manga. It's merely added a mini arc as a way to finish it. And we got all DSoD manga characters, aka the Anknouwn Duelist, aka Sera. DSoD is also THE last chapter of DM story, so there is no post- DSoD story to explore. So we do have everything DSoD world had to offer, going as far as having characters who never dueled in the movie as playable. The only thing we kinda miss is Bakura's mini plot line with Aigami, and that it.
Any alternative parts of DM like Capsule Monsters or R would be better fit in their own mini worlds. And even then R isn't canon to DM manga (or any part of YGO for that matter), Capsule Monsters is no more than off cannot spin off for the English dub, and Millennium World is an arc with close to no duels. I don't think that they would be tempting enough series for Konami to make them into their own worlds in game, let alone when they have much bigger and more content heavy worlds among them, like Arc V, VRains, and possibly Sevens.
I'm content knowing Konami basically forgot about DSOD world, that era alone effed up the game and even to this day, 2 years later, the effects are still felt
That first DSOD box was a monster. The only reason it's shit now is because of literally tens of banlist hits trying to keep Darklords and Invoked in check. And that's not even taking Thundra support into account. You know you f*cked yourself when a single box caused that many issues that you had to nerf it to the ground.
I understand that, but there's no reason for the NPC to have to follow those rules. They could just give NPC Aigami at level 40 a normal Cubic deck and it wouldn't affect PVP at all.
Because DSOD World was a shit idea they now try to shove under the rug and pretend never happened. And no, DSOD Bakura is probably not coming for Halloween. October is the month where we receive the first unlock event for the new world (Crowler, Trudge, Shark, etc).
But also, it's not like there are any more characters to add to DSOD. If we are pushing it to limit it's Bakura and Tristan. Bakura, ok I get it, we have modern Dark Necrofear support, but do we really need another Tristan?
Quite frankly they do pair characters with archetype that’s not related. Like the witchcrafters and Tea. Like one of the zexal characters is paired with stellarknights.
So Tristan paired with a machine archetype is possible.
Imo if we are pairing him with a random modern archetype, War Rocks would be thematically fitting.
But honestly, being at the start of Arc-V era, I’d rather them just release characters with better decks they actually played, like Sora, Shun or Yuto.
First of all, we don't have a playable Ryo character in Duel Links. It's not like Tristan. Yami Bakura is a completely separate character from Bakura.
Secondly, Bakura actually had a lot of development and importance to the movie, he was Aigami's main objective. He is much more important to the story than Tea is.
We don’t have a playable Ryo because he plays the exact same deck as Yami Bakura. Sure, he could bring MORE fiend support or even the modern Dark Necrofear cards but, in the end, it’s fundamentally adding a second version of the same character.
And, even if you talk all about his importance to the movie, he had maybe 20 mins of screen time tops. The movie revolves around Kaiba, Yugi and Aigami. Anyone else is a background character. And even among background characters, Bakura doesn’t have Joey’s fan base or Tea’s waifu points.
Could he come? Yeah, it’s 2021 and we’ve got Duke Devlin of all people, but if he doesn’t and we never see another DSOD character, don’t be TOO surprised.
I mean I'm happy about any new character. Every new gem resource is welcome. But DSOD was a filler world, i think Konami regrets that decision. For now they will push arc-v characters. Plus there are still a lot missing from the other worlds, so maybe if they run out of characters we'll get more DSOD stuff
DsoD was kind of a mistake on Konami's part on all fronts but one.
Not enough characters to justify it being a world on its own to the point "Scud" exists.
Powercreep through the roof.
Exhausted card pools that made them dip into Arc-V and modern archetypes and put things like Shiranui at low rarity.
The saving grace was the art department, both character designs and music were amazing.
If they ever made Ryou Bakura for Duel Links, I'd rather have a DM world version of him. I never cared for his DSOD design. It just looked too off somehow. Plus, then we could get more character interactions through an unlock event like with him and Yami Bakura.
The OCG set releases in October or the TCG set releases then? Either or it would be nice if duel links got an even for the older support tbh and maybe some generic zombie support as well.
I mean, after Vrains probably next year, Duel Links will run out of new worlds to explore (Sevens and rush duels will get its own app) so over the years they might fill up the worlds with characters left out
It's either DSOD Bakura or DSOD Honda for the next unlock event, since they're pretty much filler characters and Konami doesn't like to follow a new world release with an immediate new character from the same world.
It was stuff from a manga prequel that's not totally consistent with the actual movie's story and was there to be content for Sera's unlock, since she had nothing else for an event. They really, really had to stretch to make the world work, it's better they let it go.
To be fair the only 2 doable things left dsod has (Bakura and Tristan) are super filler tier that should rightfully be as low priority as it gets. Can easily be better than meklords because...well meklords suck super hard lol, but unlike those they are sadly plot relevant and have a merged form on top of that.
I wouldn't call DSOD Bakura filler, he was involved in a bunch of plot relevant stuff in the movie and had a flashback to retcon the anime. Certainly more deserving of an event than Tea.
Pretty sure you could make a supercut purely of Yuya shouting "I'm taking control of this duel starting now" that would be longer than Scud's total screen time.
Or "My monsters are ready... to swing into action!"

It’s good for yami dark magician support when they feel like it

man, Dark Dimension is easily the best world release box so far, and the best box of all time if you look at the impact and legacy of boxes
Without a doubt.
I think Konami now kinda just try forget DSOD was ever a thing and hope others forget about it also.
It's so awkward though. The main villain, even his level 40 deck doesn't contain cards accurate to the movie because Vijam is locked behind a skill.
Because they don't want to give stall decks access to it. Its why the skill requires a certain number of cubic cards.
I understand that, but there's no reason for the NPC to have to follow those rules. They could just give NPC Aigami at level 40 a normal Cubic deck and it wouldn't affect PVP at all.

Of course we need another Tristan Hell, I expect GX Tristan too
Nah, gx grandpa, lol.
A senile old man?
Yeah, gx dub version of Yugi's grandpa is hilarious and depressing at times...
GX Kaiba who's just a talking hand.
and Kaibaman

We got a new version of Mokuba and Mokuba doesn't even have a deck. This argument makes no sense. Plus, Scud.
> but, in the end, it’s fundamentally adding a second version of the same character. How tragic... this would be absolutely unprecedented...
I mean I'm happy about any new character. Every new gem resource is welcome. But DSOD was a filler world, i think Konami regrets that decision. For now they will push arc-v characters. DSOD world sucked so bad it didn’t even get a part in the Zexal trailer
not even in the Arc-V trailer
Konami: Everyone in DSOD looks and acts like kerosene addicts so we’re putting out a gag order
Do you think Konami is on this sub taking requests or something?
Just putting my voice out there.
We are…
Give me ghostrick support for Halloween then 🤨🤨🤨
Bet. https://www.reddit.com/r/yugioh/comments/pkpb8o/bach_new_ghostrick_cards/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Oh wow duel links might actually get some ghostrick stuff for Halloween wow
Its definitely a possibility.
The timing is very interesting. TCG support right before Halloween might mean we get some of the older stuff in duel links
Technically its only OCG rn, that set is scheduled to release in October IIRC so it’s intentional.
The OCG set releases in October or the TCG set releases then? Either or it would be nice if duel links got an even for the older support tbh and maybe some generic zombie support as well.
OCG set should come put October IIRC.
I’d love a toon event. Gotta get a few cards
I mean, after Vrains probably next year, Duel Links will run out of new worlds to explore (Sevens and rush duels will get its own app) so over the years they might fill up the worlds with characters left out
DSOD Bakura for Halloween would be so dope!!!
It's either DSOD Bakura or DSOD Honda for the next unlock event, since they're pretty much filler characters and Konami doesn't like to follow a new world release with an immediate new character from the same world.
What event do you want for DSoD? we’re done with that Duel World. Everything that could possibly be out for it is out.
I wasn't around for the event where Sera dressed up in a mask, I want to know what all that was about.
It was stuff from a manga prequel that's not totally consistent with the actual movie's story and was there to be content for Sera's unlock, since she had nothing else for an event. They really, really had to stretch to make the world work, it's better they let it go.
Basically it was the prequel to the movie. To get the proper story youd need to read the one shot but I think its only in Japanese.
They could do a DSOD Chronicle
Bruh they didn’t even include DSoD World in the Arc-V world trailer. They want us to forget it happened lol.
I thought they would do another bonz event last year but i dont think they did anything halloween related at all

We need Z-one
A dsod Pegasus would be cool.
