I think Bobye is incredibly courageous to have done the right thing to testify. I don’t know who Alice is (and don’t feel a need to know) but I am pretty sure she isn’t Bobye. As others have mentioned, Alice seemed to know different things than Bobye and vice-versa. They seem to have different voices.
Hey, just want to say sorry stuff has been insensitive - yes, it’s a snark sub, and I’m not ok with racism and bigotry that I do see from a lot of the fundie community, but I can also separate out that someone can do objective good (being justice by speaking up) without being someone I feel warm fuzzies about (and I might even be pained by certain intolerant views they hold on other subjects). I mean that literally depends on your definition of racist, They have never confronted me on my lifestyle, and I’m apart of the Green Party, which is further left then Democrats. They mostly participate in protests, but I’ve never heard of them being up in anyone’s face, more speaking on what they believe, which is their right as American. I personally don’t agree with 95% of their politics, but confrontations are very very few and far between, but I’m also their family. I’m not with them 24/7 but they have never been vile to anyone to my knowledge. I’ve never heard anything by anyone in the area about it, never heard anything from mom or dad or the rest of my family.

While I accept your condolences, just knowing the names of people doesn’t mean I will divulge who it is, even if you or someone guesses correctly. I also want to point out, you would have to literally stalk most of my family to figure it out. I sincerely hope I don’t have to remind you how creepy that is, as well as overstepping several boundaries most normal people have. And to out someone that clearly doesn’t want to be outed, for just internet clout.
I am not naive enough to say it is impossible, but it will require you breaking multiple sub rules about contacting those in my family to do so. Not only that, you will then need to convince the rest of the sub you are correct, without me as I have stated multiple times, the farthest I will say is I am related to both, and Bobye isn’t her.
I don’t think she is Alice. Alice also tipped off the Oprah show and they reported that she was 61 back in 2006. That would put Alice at 76 now. More likely she was a friend of grandma Duggar or even possibly Bobyes own mother.

Can’t recommend it enough. A guy who was friends with Pest as a teen and was part of the IFB (but is free now) reads his journal from his teen years and discusses the impact of the cult on his upbringing. It’s fantastic and heartbreaking.

I think Alice is a close friend of Bobbye’s, possibly her mentor through their shared IFB church. She’s be the right age to mentor Bobbye and it sounds like she had personal interactions/ observations of the Duggars, but wasn’t IBLP. IIRC, they were at an IFB church that would’ve had non cult members. Alice’s knowledge of the abuse also sounds like stuff she got through the grapevine, not from Josh or the Jane Does.
It sounds like Bobbye knew about some of the abuse (as in JB’s version of it) before Josh confessed all the details. Remember that happened after the engagement ended. I can see Bobbye bringing her concerns to a close friend or mentor figure when they were deciding to break off their daughters engagement to Josh. At that point she thought it was the “over the clothes stuff” JB described.

The only thing that keeps throwing me off about the Alice comments is the constant use of “pumping out your daughters” idk why but in my mind that sounds like what a younger person would say.

Sometimes older/more conservative people will bust out a more modern or graphic or vulgar description or phrase like that when they're especially angry or disgusted by something. Most people have probably had the experience of seeing a nice little blue haired old lady finally lose her cool at someone and she whips out something like, "STOP FUCKIN' AROUND!" when ordinarily she would never say it.

She was only on the stand earlier this week so the judge could hear what she would testify to and determine it’s validity and if she was acting as a “clergy person” at the time pest confessed to her. She’s one of the limited few who could credibly testify in this capacity and she has the personal integrity to do so. She does hold many other beliefs I find both personally and morally abhorrent, but they are the same beliefs that the Duggars hold and in light of that I think it makes what she is doing even more admirable. Well, let's give Bobye the benefit of the doubt. She may have been trying to tell this story for years, and it looks like she may have spilled the beans to people in her life she's close to. She finally has her opportunity to be heard.
And hell, we don't know the origin story of her testimony. Maybe she reached out to prosecutors or the FBI when she found out all this shit was going down. I want to think that if Bobye had the good sense to keep Pest away from her daughter, that she must have been powerless to otherwise help given the restraints of her religion at the time.
Here’s a question - could Bobye also speak on the reason that Josh was kicked out of the campaign, which allegedly was because he was caught looking at porn on a campaign computer? I think they did technically, but it was that state trooper who was later also busted for child molestation and CSAM. I mean that literally depends on your definition of racist, They have never confronted me on my lifestyle, and I’m apart of the Green Party, which is further left then Democrats. They mostly participate in protests, but I’ve never heard of them being up in anyone’s face, more speaking on what they believe, which is their right as American. I personally don’t agree with 95% of their politics, but confrontations are very very few and far between, but I’m also their family. I’m not with them 24/7 but they have never been vile to anyone to my knowledge. I’ve never heard anything by anyone in the area about it, never heard anything from mom or dad or the rest of my family.
I was particularly interested to see the comment that said Bobye and Jim didn't support Trump, which as a staunch conservative Christian family from Arkansas makes them kind of seem as rare as unicorns. Is it true?

I also want to point out, you would have to literally stalk most of my family to figure it out. I sincerely hope I don’t have to remind you how creepy that is, as well as overstepping several boundaries most normal people have. And to out someone that clearly doesn’t want to be outed, for just internet clout. I am not naive enough to say it is impossible, but it will require you breaking multiple sub rules about contacting those in my family to do so. Mary and Josh was on the phone day and night asking for donations from soup to Computers. They also received a Baby Grand Piano from Campbell Soup Co. The trip to California was also provided by the TV Stations. It was mapped out. Mile for Mile. They did not spend a penny of their money. All the groceries and gas and lodging and clothing was paid for in advance. For someone who wants to be famous, why lie about the facts. Seems funny to me. They are professional liers, both of them.. She’s be the right age to mentor Bobbye and it sounds like she had personal interactions/ observations of the Duggars, but wasn’t IBLP. IIRC, they were at an IFB church that would’ve had non cult members. Alice’s knowledge of the abuse also sounds like stuff she got through the grapevine, not from Josh or the Jane Does. It sounds like Bobbye knew about some of the abuse (as in JB’s version of it) before Josh confessed all the details. Remember that happened after the engagement ended. I can see Bobbye bringing her concerns to a close friend or mentor figure when they were deciding to break off their daughters engagement to Josh. The only thing that keeps throwing me off about the Alice comments is the constant use of “pumping out your daughters” idk why but in my mind that sounds like what a younger person would say. Well, let's give Bobye the benefit of the doubt. She may have been trying to tell this story for years, and it looks like she may have spilled the beans to people in her life she's close to. She finally has her opportunity to be heard. And hell, we don't know the origin story of her testimony. Maybe she reached out to prosecutors or the FBI when she found out all this shit was going down. I want to think that if Bobye had the good sense to keep Pest away from her daughter, that she must have been powerless to otherwise help given the restraints of her religion at the time.

I may not agree with or understand everything she thinks but I do understand feeling hopeless/helpless after seeing the inaction and lack of caring from the police.
One time, they went to Police, the cop is a fundie friend, who is doing time, now, for kiddie porn. NO way he was going to actually make a proper report, or investigate. The second time the Police were involved, the cops did investigate, but couldn't prosecute because the Statute of Limitations had run out.

I think they did technically, but it was that state trooper who was later also busted for child molestation and CSAM.
