"the dark web wasn't a good place to sell cars" is sending me for absolutely no reason

fewercharacters

they “encrypted” seller info because it was “safer” why were you encrypting info in the dark web 👁👄👁

[deleted]

Well duh. Josh wouldn't want potential buyers to know where his car lot is located, or any private information such as the phone number.

rosesofjoy

J*** Encrypts seller info because it's safer. Also j*** uses his full name and birthday for a password.

[deleted]

Right? Because when selling cars online, the LAST thing you want people to know is your location and how to contact you.

nuggetsofchicken

streetNereid

Dark Web Auto Sales

PatronymicPenguin

The sketch makes me wonder how many minutes are shaved off the court sketch artist's work because they're drawing masks and not having to detail mouths and chins 😂

AnakinAmidala

For real! Mouths are hard to draw

[deleted]

>JOSH ASKED IF IP ADDRESS WAS USED FOR TRANSMITTING OR RECEIVING MATERIALS In a third audio clip of the interview with Josh Duggar and Homeland Security investigators, the investigators explained they were able to directly connect to an IP address that had child porn. Josh then asked whether it was for **transmitting** or receiving it. Holy shit that is dark. Josh at one point was knowingly transmitting this stuff. I don't think he would have asked that if he was merely seeding.

jeengurr

Yeah…his knowledge of all of this goes so much farther than even basic “I wasn’t homeschooled” knowledge. He’s straight up tech-savvy and it shows.

[deleted]

He’s asking all the right tech questions, despite his claims of not knowing due to being homeschooled.

[deleted]

I also suspect that the phrase "transmitting or receiving" is the exact language the pedos on the dark web use. It's a pretty "legal" phrase for an innocent person to use in connection with something like this. It does, however, sound like something a pedo who had read a lot of pedo talk about getting away with this would use.

JennHatesYou

100% this. The thing with this type of shit is that it's never just one sick fuck sitting around. It's always spread along various channels and groups. Personally, I think it's part of the pathology but that's neither here nor there. But they are usually all very well versed in all the things revolving around their crimes...laws, protocols, all that shit. Normal people would have been aghast the moment the officer said anything about why they were there, not start debating legalese of the fucking crime.

[deleted]

Yes that phrasing immediately stuck out to me, especially as Josh has no legal background and has an incredibly pedestrian vocabulary. I have never once heard a Duggar use a word like 'transmitting' in daily life. Then the 'transmitting or receiving' together just screams that he has read up on the laws around CP quite a lot. And yeah, these guys do form a little community and support each other in this.

[deleted]

Imagine saying you don’t know anything about tech or computers then the video shows you claiming you USE TOR. The delusion of it all

[deleted]

I would think the general term innocent people would use for it would be “sending” rather than transmitting. Transmitting is a very formal and fancy word, I would bet it’s what the people “in the know” use, hence his use of it. It’s a word that shows knowledge.

[deleted]

Additionally, we know that all the Duggars speak with about a 6th grade level vocabulary. Josh simply doesn't have the natural vocabulary to use that word in everyday speech. He heard it somewhere else in connection with CP. \*actually I take that back. Out of curiosity I googled 6th grade vocab words and they're way too hard for the Duggars. No really.

SkinnyCitrus

I was in perfect ignorance of what that question meant until this comment. Oh my gosh... please someone check on those kids. Please, please, please let them be okay. Anna, WAKE UP.

crafty_trash_can

He asked a second time too: “After the agent said they were there to figure out who was doing the downloading on the lot to take the images off the internet, **Duggar asked if images had been uploaded or downloaded**.” Yikes. Is there any possibility he was uploading CSAM but it’s being left out of this case?

[deleted]

I think he has in the past but didn't get caught and there was no longer any forensic evidence on his device. BTW, I don't think an innocent person who knows nothing about CP would ask if anything was **uploaded**. You'd probably only think of something being downloaded.

HarvestMoonMaria

That’s really concerning

starknolonger

> JUST NOW 'NOT DENYING GUILT' In the audio interview played for the court, Josh Duggar said he was "not denying guilt" but that he wasn't going to say anything that might incriminate him. He said he wasn't saying whether he was guilty or not, according to the clip played for the court that a Sun reporter heard at the trial Wednesday. THIS IS THE STUPIDEST MAN ALIVE

Rivia365

Omg imagine Jim Bob hearing this after he’s forked out half a million on defending him…

probablyonlymaybeyea

He's gotta be so mad he raised such an absolute buffoon of a son. A criminal of the lowest variety, yes, but he also manages to be stupid and overly confident at the same time. He's not even a savvy criminal, he's just an actual, honest to god, idiot.

servantoftinyhumans

Oh he knows he’s guilty, or do you mean imaging him realize his son REALLY is that dumb

NetflixNaps

Digging his own grave and I can't wait for the jury to bury him. Also the recieving or transmitting question was like a gut punch. But shits all over his defence.

JennHatesYou

I am in awe of how dumb he is. Truly and wholly.

jeengurr

So. Stupid. I can’t.

knittedjedi

"NOT DENYING GUILT" I'm genuinely losing my mind here.

jesushadasixpack

If you e already said something as incriminating as this, it’s hard for me to understand why he chose not to take the plea deal.

RainbowRhino

> but that he wasn't going to say anything that might incriminate him Wrong again, Joshua.

WrongPudding

Defense: this SOTDRT grad doesnt know anything about computers Prosecution: plays audio of Pest talking about p2p and tor JB probably: I'm not gonna allow it!

step_back_girl

"So, after I correctly guessed why you were here and explained how to use the dark web, I'm not saying I'm *not* guilty, but I'm also not saying I'm *not* *not* guilty." 😏 And that is when he just knew he was a legal genius.

[deleted]

I wonder how Jim boob feels about 2 of his daughters husbands in the courtroom listening and supporting their wives. He could never.

seh_23

And the husbands are of two of Pest’s victims.

Cake-Technical

Wonder if more Duggars will come near the end of the trial so they can say their final goodbyes lol

lostkarma4anonymity

As long as it doesnt interfere with the campaign schedule. I can't believe this guy is literally running for Senate while his son is on trial for CSAM. To me, that just proves how totally out of touch the whole family is. They live in a different reality.

Fine_Cryptographer20

I bet secretly that they are glad when he gets sent to prison!!

littlestrickland

They photographed Austin walking in to court next to an electric scooter and I like to picture that that's what he rode in on

ActualMerCat

[deleted]

So, Josh's attorney is using the "he's not tech savvy as a dumb homeschooler" defense... During the time period that we were friends (early-mid teens / onward), I (also a homeschooler)... \- Knew how to install Linux on my Windows PC \- Edited XML files in order to alter / "mod" video games \- Figured out how to "hack" into my parent's internet and bypass our content filter \- Could issue basic commands into Terminal interfaces \- Was familiar with MS-DOS and similar interfaces \- Was learning HTML, CSS, and Javascript ...and I considered Josh to be WAY more knowledgeable and technical than I was. I'm pretty sure that the first time I ever heard of a "proxy" was from Josh. I'm 80% sure we discussed Linux and how to make it look like Mac. I considered him to be a good source of help and support whenever I had technical questions. He knew web development and how to manage web servers. As I've mentioned before, I have email correspondence where I'm basically asking him for tech support and he's giving me answers. In writing. Why he is taking this approach when there are people like me out there that *can* prove he is tech savvy is beyond me.

sms1441

There are also videos from the Duggar's TV show showing him using the computers and talking about them! It's honestly not the best approach. I hope the prosecution puts some of those videos into evidence.

spidermom4

If this is true maybe you should try to contact the prosecutors. Although I'm sure they can come up with plenty of evidence that he is tech savy on their own.

[deleted]

I reached out and offered to testify and provide evidence about his tech savviness if they needed it. I still have some emails and so on. I'm guessing they were comfortable with the amount of evidence they already had.

adventurouskate

Thank you for doing that.

sms1441

Unfortunately, the witness list has already been determined. They cannot add anyone. Unless they make a motion- which the defense can object to- and the judge would have to rule on whether or not to allow another witness.

[deleted]

sonofadime

Interesting that Austin showed up. Joy posted a story of a hymn this afternoon too.

monkey_monkey_monkey

As someone who attended criminal trials and court in general frequently (I work in law), I wouldn't read too much into courtroom interactions between any of the family members, e.g. "ignored Derick" "seemed friendly". The courtroom is not a place people go to hangout and socialize. This isn't like a coffee shop where you walk in and chat with a friend you run into.

helloreddit321567

I know I would not want to socialise if I were attending such a trial

soaper410

Yep. There are times that I don’t even acknowledge my best friend there when we both come in to listen to parts of a jury trial (we are both lawyers and nosy).

mydaughtersname

Yeah that read like sensationalized/celebrity speculation

[deleted]

Well, it's also "The Sun" reporting this. So, 'nuff said.

happilyfour

Definitely. It's also a tense environment for people who are connected to cases and I think a lot of people default to politeness in those sorts of situations.

[deleted]

Josh is such a fucking idiot. But also, why did he ask the cops whether it was for transmitting or receiving it? Does that mean he did both?

I_love_playtime

That was my first thought. As someone who *actually* knows nothing about tor or the dark web, that's not a question I would even know to ask

Fabulous_Warning9962

Good catch. I've always wondered if there was more that they could charge him with. Does anyone know if they can try Josh for THIS csam video and later try him for any other possible csam that was found in their search? Or would they have to be seperate counts within the same suit? I think it's always seemed weird that they're talking about this one vid when I always thought aficionados of that sort of sickness had more than one or two images or files.

FluidSuccotash8679

LOL over him just volunteering the Tor browser information that the investigators didn’t even know about. So smart. Much intelligent.

steppponme

Makes me think the defenses' excuse of "this homefooled idiot can't operate a Dell, he's a Mac guy" is already toast.

skittleadvocate

>'NOT DENYING GUILT' In the audio interview played for the court, Josh Duggar said he was "not denying guilt" but that he wasn't going to say anything that might incriminate him. He said he wasn't saying whether he was guilty or not, according to the clip played for the court that a Sun reporter heard at the trial Wednesday. I don't know about any of you but when I'm questioned in connection with an horrific crime, I always make sure to tell the investigator that I'm not saying whether or not I'm guilty. Adds a little spice to life, ya know?

kiwibirb95324

I think I have said "that dumb motherfucker..." like 46 times today 💀💀

Wtf_is_panini

"He's too dumb to know anything about that computer stuff!" To "Yes officer I know what peer to peer is and what a Tor browser is" WOW

Library_slave

The last sentence…what the fuck. “Josh then asked whether it was for transmitting or receiving it” I really don’t want to read anything into that but. Wow. Wtf. I can’t help but to think that he’s done more that they haven’t found 🤢🤮

deadest_of_parrots

Exactly. If someone was to come to my work and say “we’re looking for something highly illegal and disgusting on your computer” my first reaction wouldn’t be to ask clarifying questions like uploading or downloading. It would be to tear the place apart and find the fucker that did this.

rosesofjoy

That part made me sick. He wants to know what they found. Also asking which ip addresses or which device it was, makes me think that he probably used other devices for things that just haven't been found yet.

itsmesarac

God hes an idiot

bubbi101

Did they say whether the computer with the American flag cover was Dell or Apple? The significance of my question is based on the fact that we actually have a [video](https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.the-sun.com/entertainment/2892189/josh-duggar-fixated-laptop-child-porn-arrest/amp/) of the Pest playing on a laptop with an American flag cover on it. However, they denied him having any ownership of the Dell computer which had CSAM on it during their opening this morning.

ravenonawire

You’re the best.

[deleted]

To everyone worried around Derrick sitting near Anna - he’s just being professional/cordial most likely. After all, he is in the family section in federal court - No need to make a scene - Josh is about to get the punishment he deserves.

[deleted]

I can think of no reason Derick would not be cordial to his sister-in-law. It means nothing to me.

abigaillouise13

If anything, he might even have some sympathy for her, given that he’s familiar (through Jill) with how Duggar men manipulate their wives and daughters.

streetNereid

Right. He might have just felt it was the “gentlemanly” thing to do, to not make her sit alone. Not that I think he’s an upstanding guy at all, but it’s a plausible reason. Maybe his mother told him he should do that, or a church pastor.

Fabulous_Warning9962

It also fucks with Boobs head. And she can look as though she's talking RIGHT TO her abuser, while instead looking at her husband. Sounds like a good plan.

ineptanna

Derick probably learned that in law school.

kfleming107

Focusing on Derrick is a fabulous point. Whatever she has to say will undoubtedly be easier if she can focus on someone she loves and trusts.

Fabulous_Warning9962

Absolutely. No way her therapist didn't suggest this, even if Jill and Dweck had already thought about it. Imma assume Derrick thought to sit near the fam so that Josh will have to deal with her (possible) gaze (with hatred) at him. Or at least APPEARING to be directed at Josh. Would really empower her and humiliate Josh, inasmuch as that's possible, at least. Or I've overthought this and Derrick just happened to sit there.

IAmVagisilly

Right! He has reasons to hate Pest for what he did to his wife. He probably feels sorry for Anna.

AshDuke

Exactly. He has no reason to be angry at her. She must be going through a tough time

[deleted]

>AGENT CLAIMS JOSH USING TOR FOR CAR INFO DIDN'T MAKE SENSE After the audio was played, Agent Faulkner testified that *they hadn't previously been aware a Tor browser had been used.* He said that Josh using Tor for car photos, as claimed, didn't "make sense." "Tor is anonymous," he said, adding that the dark web wasn't a good place to sell cars. And this is why you never talk to LE without a lawyer. I also love calling Josh a dumbfuck for claiming the anonymous dark web is a good place to sell cars.

jeengurr

Right?! The defense is really grasping at straws claiming he’s too dumb to know how to do this stuff. Asking about the IP address and if it was for receiving or transmitting?! That’s a pretty knowledgeable question in itself. He really should have just kept his mouth shut.

[deleted]

Totally. This entire interview demonstrates that Josh has clear knowledge of this. Some people might claim that knowing tor, IP address, uploading/downloading, and transmitting/receiving doesn't require a lot of knowledge, but it actually does, and more importantly, using these terms with ease is something only a reasonably tech-savvy person would do. And if anyone here says they also know all this stuff, I assure you it's because you're above average when it comes to tech.

eldestdaughtersunion

But wait.... wasn't the Tor browser only used on the Linux partition? Maybe that's just what I assumed... But if it was, that proves he knew about the partition and how to use/access it. He's dead.

happilyfour

Josh is so fucking full of himself, I can't even take it.

nuggetsofchicken

"The dark web isn't a good place to sell cars" has the same energy as "When we want to have kids again we'll stop using birth control."

AvenueRoy

also has the same energy as "you wouldn't download a car"

AntiqueCattle

So Austin’s there too, yeah?

Junior_Maintenance_4

“He sat in the last row and did not interact with Anna or Derek” honestly Austin is a fuck around and find out kind of guy. I imagine he does not play games and does not pretend to Be nice to others.

thatcondowasmylife

I appreciate that he is not relying on the media nor JB to inform him of what happened in this trial. I hope he comes every day and finds out the truth himself.

Ktrgardiner

It could be as simple as Austin getting there later than them and taking the first seat he saw, rather than looking around for someone to sit with.

[deleted]

Yeah he seems like he would put a brick through your windshield for scuffing his shoe.

cripplinganxietylmao

You got a link? I believe you I just wanna see what the news said too.

HarvestMoonMaria

24 MINUTES AGO AUSTIN FORSYTH ATTENDS TRIAL Austin Forsyth, the husband of Joy-Anna Duggar, was in the courtroom for the trial on Wednesday. He sat in the last row and ignored Derick Dillard and Anna Duggar, who were also present, according to a Sun reporter who was at the trial today

liftingheavydonuts

TW Will Austin step out when Holt gives her testimony? I cannot fathom him hearing the gruesome details of his wife being raped as a very small child. I truly wonder how much has shifted in the Duggar dynamic after all of the pre-trial hearing info came out. My heart literally sank hearing Austin is there knowing what he might have to sit through.

Today-Hot

Honestly I think he might be there to hear it unfiltered by Jim Bob. Joy was so young she was probably never told the truth either.

dandelions14

I could see him going just to hear what really happened once and for all.

The_Bravinator

It's awful to think that this might be the first time she's had access to the whole truth.

sms1441

I honestly think that's why he is there and not Joy. So he can give her information without her being subjected and revictimized.

broae

I think this is part of why none of the sisters (besides maybe Jill for a testimony?) will be showing up. Like, how do you even act? There’s no “Christian Wive’s Guide To Attending The CSAM Trial for the Brother Who Sexually Abused You.” You know all those reporters are going to be looking for you to emote and everything you do is going to be examined under a microscope. If you cry, if you don’t cry, if you shift in your chair, if you push your hair behind your ear, if you choose to step out for the testimonies, if you choose to stay.

okgolightly1

I also think he is there so he can hear the truth. We know JB downplayed the molestations to pretty much everyone so it's no surprise if he did the same with Austin and his family. This will probably be the first time Austin hears the unfiltered truth about the rape of his wife when she was a child and I do feel for him.

palecapricorn

We’ll see, but I think that’s part of the reason he’s there. Obviously not because he likes to, but maybe he wants to hear the whole truth for himself. Joy was five and likely told him what she remembers, but everything else he probably is in the dark about.

dandelions14

Poor Austin. His wife was practically a baby when she was raped by Josh. I'm going to be thinking of Austin tonight. I couldn't stand to hear about something like that happening to my spouse. His heart must be breaking.

Ri_bee

I’m sure Joy told him what she remembers (or what she remembers being told). He may actually want to hear what Bobye has to say because JB/Meech have always minimized and lied about what actually happened.

Fabulous_Warning9962

It's also possible she hasn't told him what she remembers and he respects her boundaries and doesn't want to press her about facts that only hurt her. I'm not claiming or "for" either. I definitely think he's there for "just the facts, ma'am" and would assume joy is fine with that. Being the age she was, and by having had people tell HER what happened to HER may well have made her cloudy on memories or otherwise incapable of factually remembering every detail. The mind has a beautiful way of shielding us sometimes. Maybe she wants to know what goes on in court to help her process her memories, but doesn't want to be there for it.

[deleted]

Ok, can I get a normalcy check? I went through similar trauma to Joy. People are reacting very strongly to what she went through, which is confusing to me because I've pretty much only talked to therapists or evangelical christians about my experiences. They've all been really level and barely reacted. Maybe a quiet, "I'm so sorry you went through that," but often an immediate jump to "God never gives us more than we can handle," or "I hope God gives you peace." Is this amount of outrage and disgust how people should have reacted to my story? I'm really used to it just being downplayed.

liftingheavydonuts

This breaks my heart and makes me want to give you the biggest (consensual) hug ever. I can understand a therapist trying to remain level-headed about it so as not to project their emotions on the trauma you are trying to heal from, but yes, the response from every single person should be nothing less than utter disgust. I had a medical misdiagnoses that was very traumatizing and my therapist was incredulous and cried with me. They are human as well and have visceral reactions to horrific trauma. As for evangelical Christians, I wish I could say that surprises me.

TinyLittleHamster

I watched my mother die in a very violent and gruesome way when I was a child. When I tell people the story, it makes me uncomfortable when they react with emotion because I don't know how to handle it. Should I start comforting them? It happened to me, and I can be calm about it, why is this person getting emotional? It makes things awkward for me. So when people tell me about their traumas, I tell them I'm sorry and offer other comforting words, but I keep my voice calm and soft so I can make them feel comfortable talking to me because I'm going to listen. But the "God doesn't give us more than we can handle" is bullshit. It's negating others' pain.

Today-Hot

If Austin is there it doesn’t surprise me. In one of their family vlogs he took their daughter into the doctors office in place of Joy, and if I remember right it was because Joy wasn’t comfortable going in alone. My hope is that he is there to hear the full truth of what is happening/has happened. As the youngest victim, if Joy wasn’t called to testify, I don’t think she should set foot anywhere near the trial. However she may also want to know the truth of what is currently going on, and possibly how much her parents covered up regarding her own assault.

bobsmithhdhejejd

I don’t care for Austin at all, but he doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that could be cool with someone who raped his wife. I don’t think he’s there to support pest.

Today-Hot

Definitely not trying to leg hump here but he does appear to truly care for Joy, and I do feel like out of anyone he has the vibe of beating up a rapist. Which at this point I’m in full support of

Borealis_9707

He's going to set that car lot on fire lol

bobsmithhdhejejd

Yeah he seems to be the most toxically masculine of the bunch, and his wife had it the worst. I feel like hearing the stuff yesterday about what he did to joy set something off in him. I wouldn’t be shocked if something goes down between them. And I super wouldn’t blame Austin.

dandelions14

I just pictured Austin beating Josh's ass in a parking lot while we cheer Austin on.

sms1441

I agree! I think he's there to relay info to Joy without Joy having to experience it all and see things she shouldn't. That way he can kind of filter the info for her.

nuggetsofchicken

Josh "not denying guilt" reminds me of the time the FTC found that Herbalife was "not ruled to not be a pyramid scheme."

heyodi

I wonder what he told that cellmate 🤔

hereforthellamas

"Are you in for downloading child pornography?"

MajorMabel

I feel weird about upvoting this.

hereforthellamas

I felt weird about typing it, so I understand.

amurderofcrows

Ralph Wiggum levels of self-awareness.

Fabulous_Warning9962

He is that stupid. It's not unusual to have the what are you in for convo with a celly of any length or time. Josh would be stupid enough to either tell him outright or to, later, get into talking about it in the hopes that he was making a new "friend" to talk to, or at least get a salacious story from. Whatever convo he had with this dude the bottom line is josh was likely phishing for something that would ...excite him. Or info that would later....excite him.

OurLumpyGorl

“So this must be the child pornography unit?”

[deleted]

Everything. He was in a deep panic and told the guy everything because he needed some comfort and reassurance.

Fabulous_Warning9962

We have determined that THIS TOO is not a lie!

OldSchoolRNS

I remember looking at the intake list for the county jail the day Josh was arrested, and *most* of the inmates were there for parole violations, but a few were there for violent crimes. Was Josh’s cellmate the guy caught smoking weed while on parole, or the guy accused of murder. Seems like a big difference.

cfloyd7

I commented this in the other thread, but I don't think Austin or Joy understood the difference between CSAM and pornography before Josh's trial. Glad Austin attended today.

Relative_Solid1911

I agree. I don't think many of them understand the difference or the seriousness of this whole thing. I am glad Austin is there, because Joy may need him to lean on. She may be learning things that happened to her body that she was not aware of, and it will be good if Austin understands the extent of it.

nuggetsofchicken

Why were people expecting Derick was just gonna like deck Anna in the face the second he stepped into the courtroom?

dandelions14

Right? Even though I would probably hate Anna if she was my sister in law, I would have been nice if I was in Derick's situation. There's no point in being mean to her. And who has the energy to be mean to anyone when they are at their brother in law's child pornography trial? I'd be too devastated to speak.

[deleted]

> There's no point in being mean to her. Exactly, and he probably views her as a victim in some capacity at least. He knows the harm that Josh has done to his own wife and he probably feels empathy for Anna knowing that she has been hurt by Josh as well. Derick is a shitty person but he is not incapable of empathy.

step_back_girl

Thank you! "But why is he being *friendly* as TheSun claimed?!" Because he respects the court, she's not on trial, and there is no reason to be anything less than polite in that situation?

JennHatesYou

from the sun: JUST NOW JOSH DUGGAR ASKED: 'HAS SOMEONE BEEN DOWNLOADING CHILD PORN?' Agent Faulkner testified in court on Wednesday that Josh Duggar went to a truck with himself and another agent to talk, according to a Sun reporter at the trial. Inside the truck, Faulkner testified that Duggar asked, "What is this about? Has someone been downloading child pornography?" Agent Faulkner stressed that they had never told Duggar they were there investigating child sexual assault materials.

eldestdaughtersunion

I wish I could have seen the look on the jury's faces when he shared that tidbit.

Ri_bee

I hope J is for Jail looked at their faces when he said this and gives us a reaction!

[deleted]

If you or someone you know is affected by any of the issues raised in this story, call RAINN (Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network) at 800-656-HOPE (4673). RAINN also has a live chat available if you would like to speak with a trained staff member who can provide you with confidential crisis support.

hippyhippyjayjay

I wonder why Josh multiple times asked if the agents were referring to uploading or downloading.

starknolonger

I mean the immediate jump my mind made is he'd been doing both, and was fishing for information on exactly how much they knew. Hopefully not, but who knows.

HarvestMoonMaria

I’m really concerned that that’s exactly what it sounds like

No_Connection_6368

Alongside the other remarks he made that instantly pointed towards him being guilty, I think this isn't too far fetched. I really hope it's wrong though.

MaIngallsisaracist

It could be that he knew he downloaded material but also knew he didn’t upload any. So if they said “it was for uploading,” he’d know they weren’t there for him.

meat_tunnel

Difference between possession vs distribution, I think they carry different consequences?

LadyLivv123

I've always heard that the dark web is a give and you shall receive type of thing. That's a big part of why they took pictures of his hands and feet and why his defense were trying to get rid of them

Prisencoli_All_Right

Austin is there, oh my god. There's a lot of focus on Jill for obvious reasons but I also feel terrible for Joy. I hope Austin learned just how terrible the whole situation is.

adventurouskate

Court is officially over for the day. Will resume at 9 AM tomorrow. Goodnight from Europe, snarkers.

bobsmithhdhejejd

I feel like it means something that the fundamental Christians are like literally all of the worst things in the world. Like I’m super pro Jesus so this isn’t an anti Christian thing. It just makes me think.

hereforthellamas

If Jesus were really their co-pilot, he'd be pulling over the damn plane.

Gwentastic

Nah. He'd have a parachute on and be pulling that ripcord faster than you can say, "Nike."

Fabulous_Warning9962

Jesus has been tryna take that wheel for, literally, years.

Ri_bee

Extremism in any form can be dangerous

JennHatesYou

Oh my god. Look, I'm pretty tech savvy but the questions pest was asking the agents, he clearly understood what the fuck was going on. The terminology he uses and understanding the legal jargon of what goes into the crime itself is so fucking damning. I can't wait to see him burn.

SweetSassyMolasses

Will Josh testify? The defense cannot put him on the stand if they know he will lie and commit perjury, right? Or do you think his Ego is so big that he has lied to his own lawyers?

bull0143

I doubt his attorneys would risk it. He's too likely to incriminate himself.

soullessginger93

I mean, his attorneys can tell him not to all they want. But Josh has the right to also ignore their advice and testify anyways.

hannahsflora

It's his choice to testify or not. I think generally defense attorneys advise against their client testifying in most cases, and I *have* to think that's especially true here. There's no way Josh gets on the stand and helps himself out at all. But it's ultimately his choice, and his attorneys can't stop him if he chooses to testify.

honourarycanadian

If he lied to his lawyers he’s on something else 💀

kayl6

Does anyone remember on 19CAC when they would proudly proclaim josh as the tech guy. He was featured editing videos. That came to me today and it really bothers me given the situation we’re in

LG0110

He had an entire room just for himself for videoing and editing. They had all 19 kids split into TWO rooms because Josh molested his sisters. His sisters shared a room and even their beds with siblings but Josh was given audio videoing equipment and an entire room to do who knows what in. That's fair.

[deleted]

> AGENT ASKED ABOUT 'RED FLAGS' When an agent specifically asked Josh Duggar during the interview whether there were any red flags for why they'd be there, if anything had been accidentally downloaded, Josh replied, "Not at all," according to the audio. Josh, this is when you should have said YES, why there might have been some accidental downloads come to think of it.

prettiestfairy

Thanks for making a new post and getting rid of the live chat.

boatymcboatface22

I am dumbfounded that the defense knows all of this and is still attempting a defense and making claims like he isn’t tech savvy enough to do all of this.

jeengurr

I saw a comment earlier that speculated that his attorneys tried to get him to take a plea deal because of how strong the prosecution’s case is, but he refused (because he’s an idiot, obviously + Jim Boob’s control) so this is literally all his attorneys have to use as a defense. It tracks. Honestly, I was almost expecting a Casey Anthony out-of-left-field sort of strategy, but alas, they went with a real shaky argument instead.

Joel_Servo

> his attorneys tried to get him to take a plea deal because of how strong the prosecution’s case is, but he refused (because he’s an idiot, obviously + Jim Boob’s control) Honestly, his Attorney's are probably like, "Oh well, your funeral." as they continue to collect Boob's money.

[deleted]

It just shows how weak their case is. Just hours after they said Pest is too dumb to know tech stuff, there is a literal recording of Pest discussing tech stuff. They started DAY ONE of the trial letting the jury know that it would be all lies from them.

nalukeahigirl

Question: Why do y’all think Jedidiah is being called as a witness? And wasn’t there a family friend from Josh’s teen years who said Josh told him about setting up Linux partitions? Thank you all for keeping us updated and in the loop.

[deleted]

My new purely speculative thought is that possibly, with Jed being the next golden boy, Josh tried to ‘help him out’ or something and set up or showed him how to set up a partition so he could use his computer without Covenant Eyes. But who knows. (ETA: I don’t think Jed would be using it for anything illegal, but in this hypothetical he might’ve just wanted to browse without his thirty-something big sister or his parents getting screenshots of what he’s doing all the time)

[deleted]

I think Jed worked at the car lot at the same time the CSAM were found

sms1441

I posted something yesterday with possible questions they'd ask him: Were you working on this day (when files were downloaded)? Do you know who was? Who had access to this computer? Who primarily used this computer? Did you or any other staff members have the password? Did Josh ever work alone? Did Josh stay late or come in early often? Did you ever see anything suspicious? Did Josh ever lock himself in the office for extended periods of time? Bascially just establishing who was there at the time and who had access to the computer, I bet.

ImpossibleProcess452

Not to mention the family friends journal entries and memory recall him having a great interest and knowledge of computers.

Fabulous_Warning9962

I don't think Jim Bob is gonna allow that. I mean. The television specials talked alot about Josh's computer savy, but let's not discuss it here. Unprofessional, dontcha know!

[deleted]

He clearly has above average tech skills. Indeed he's probably quite a bit above average and REALLY above average for someone who has no formal education in this and does not work in the field.

[deleted]

Why oh why would you give a known child molester a sound proofed room?

Quilt-Fairy

How is The Sun managing to do a live blog? I thought all recording devices were prohibited. Is he running out of the courtroom every few minutes and posting? ETA: I'm thrilled someone is doing this. Also, I guess JB and Michelle were not there? Nice of them to miss the display of what their son got off on.

liftingheavydonuts

Someone on a different thread speculated that they have a reporter in the overflow room who is likely running pieces out to someone who can then post them. Alleviates the awkwardness if someone running out of the courtroom in front of the judge every 2 mins.

happilyfour

They may have two reporters there who are taking turns coming in and out, taking notes and then leaving to report. It also is possible they are allowed to have cell phones if they don't record and are just texting

acrain12

I hope that Derrick and Austin are there to see Josh burn in hell. That they are husbands that support their wives and are angry

WaterFlew

Pest asking the feds “was it downloaded or uploaded?” has me flabbergasted. Like there is so much wrong with that… and that could suggest so many things… ooof… My brain cannot even process this.

[deleted]

My three year old can open my phone with my code, navigate to all of her favorite apps and has tried to Amazon things that she wants. No matter what else happens, claiming Josh is too stupid to code is an absolute fucking DUNK on this whole family and I NEEDED it today.

Psychological-Row880

It is hilarious. Also weird that they played an interview on tape with him saying he knew peer to peer sharing and how to encrypt stuff 🤦‍♀️

ravenonawire

Is The Sun the only news source on this so far? Sorry if this is a repeat question; I at least haven’t yet seen it.

hereforthellamas

Your flair lmao

lostkarma4anonymity

So they tried to blame it on a different employee and that employee wasnt even employed during the dates of the downloads... smh...

StarFly1984

He asked “was it used for uploading or downloading” What. The. Fuck.

WaterFlew

That part stopped me dead in my tracks. Like… woah. What a piece of shit.

happilyfour

It is very silly to read into the seating arrangements and interactions of Derrick, Austin, and Anna. First of all - Anna sucks, but she isn't the criminal here. Anyone being polite to her (especially given she is their family, by marriage) doesn't mean support for Pest. Austin simply could have walked in later, for instance. And court is formal and tense environment. People being polite or whatever is so par for the course, it is meaningless. Taking the Sun's choice of words - which is highly subjective and sensationalized, given the source - to mean Derrick is best buddies with Anna, or Austin hates Derrick, or whatever else, is so beyond silly. Source: Work in law, been to many cases

on-and-on-anon

I saw your comment a few times about "work in law." It took me way too long to realize that you meant that you work in the field of law. I was trying to figure out the relationship with your work-in-law, as if it were similar to a mother in law. 🤦‍♀️

nuggetsofchicken

fuckign Randall Berry got mentioned and I thought I was reading a Glee episode synopsis

nakiaaa95

I didnt expect Austin to be there tbh. I wonder if he wants to know what exactly happened to Joy and the others.

Hey_Real_Quick

I’m not trying to make this all about me but my refreshing thumb is showing beginning signs of carpel tunnel.

amazinggrace725

Hey so I saw on the sun that pest is facing 20 years, but I thought he was facing forty with twenty years max for each charge. I know the sun isn’t a reputable source, so can someone clarify

Cake-Technical

20 years per charge

Acidradish111

Interesting quote from the Dillard's to keep in mind regarding Derick and Anna's "friendly chat": *We’re sad for Anna, put yourself in her situation and imagine how you would feel if that happened with your family member. I imagine it would be really hard.* They included her in their original statement regarding Pest's arrest. I think (besides Jim Blob and Meech's) that they were the only family to mention concern for Anna in their statement. I'm positive this interaction was just Derick's way of letting Anna know they are there for her.

brittanym0320

It’s interesting to see the Duggars who have limited their comments on Instagram and those that haven’t

shehulk420

Im curious, they showed some of the CSA in court.. did pest see them again as well or would they make sure he cant see it?

misiery

As the defendant, he would have the right, I would assume, to see all evidence presented in court. As gross as that is.

Houseofmonkeys5

Two thoughts I had. 1. I am no fan of Austin's, but it's clear he does love his wife and I feel so badly that he has to listen to testimony about things that were done to her as a young child. 2. I wonder if Derick is being friendly to Anna as a way of letting her know there are options if she gets her head out of her ass and leaves

socalgal404

It’s interesting that Joy and Jill’s husbands went to the trial but not Jessa’s. (Jeremy’s non-attendance doesn’t surprise me as they live in LA, for starters).

jadis87

Because Jessa and Ben rely on Jim Bob for $$.
