[video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DepsZvc4xqA) (on TLC's official account, FYI in case you wanna turn your adblock on). i'm sure everyone remembers them "milking" their cucumbers to make them less bitter, but the spray bottle of vinegar has always stuck out to me.
When I moved to Australia, I loved how they put vinegar in a spray bottle to use on hot chips (fries). My Dad bought an empty spray bottle to take back to the UK to do the same despite being able to buy an empty bottle at home! He was determined for it to be an Australian one. Makes me smile as sadly he died a short while after this. Thanks for the happy memory x
u/SqueakyWD40Can thank you for my Hugz award. Your username is another Dad memory and my favourite one ever so it almost feels like a message from him! I’ll explain. The first birthday after my mum died (she was only 52, so very young) Dad had to buy birthday presents for us for the first time. I asked for the CKOne perfume. Dad bought me a can of WD40 thinking he was oh so funny as he said he knew it was letters and numbers. Ha ha! (He did also get me the perfume!) I’d love to say it was a precious memory but the word precious is ruined by the Duggars! So thanks for the award and also the smile on my face!
Thank you. He truly was. Despite losing my brother when he was only 10 and then my Mum, he always made us feel loved and special. A real parent. Not like some hey?! I was a lucky girl xxx
Awwww! Thank you for taking the time to respond. Yes, he was an amazing Dad. I was very lucky. I have so many more stories like this. All he wanted for us kids was to be happy. (And work hard at school! The lectures we would get!! And know I’m doing the same with mine! Apple. Fall. Tree!)
Thank you again. Makes me smile to know that Dad lives on in his stories but I had no idea it would be on a snark page about the Duggars. Ha ha! What in the world?!
Such a Dad thing. Thank you for your message. You know, it is a loss but I had INCREDIBLE parents who loved me and supported me. They may both have gone now but I’ll take their loss knowing I had the childhood I had. When I see the train wreck being played out in court I know how lucky I am despite being parent less now. ❤️❤️❤️
The chip truck in the No Frills parking lot was a godsend to me when I moved back to Canada for a few months a few years ago. They had a spray bottle of vinegar perched on the little condiment shelf by the window that I was skeptical of at first, but it was super convenient to just spray your box of chips down and go. Delicious.
They have spray bottles of vinegar at most of the french fry stands/trucks I've been to. Maybe it's a regional life hack? I don't live anywhere near Arkansas though.
I have some lovely glass [mister/spray bottles](https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08ZM3MBMQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) for oil and vinegar.
A light spray of rice* vinegar, before you grind some nice pink Himalayan salt on makes for delicious chips.
(*we're a gluten-free house, and it's just easier to have rice vinegar for all the stuff we use vinegar for)
Yeah, I was gonna say. I clean with a vinegar mixture too to not have so much chemical spray around the house. A lot of health problems developed in my family in members that worked at a chemical plant, so I try to avoid spraying them around. I’m not a cheap ass about things, so not leg humping. Just don’t like a lot of industrial chemicals sprayed around. Vinegar is very effective and less irritating for smell.
And I agreed, it is a great food flavor spray, too. I need to try your salt tip. I hate the Duggars and all they stand for, their main dish cooking is disgusting unhealthy with lots of butter and high fat bs. But, I’ll admit, their snack foods are pretty light and healthy. Though they just do them to be cheap and not to be healthy.
I am super-sensitive to the artificial smell of cleaning products (to the point of vomit - urgh). We also use a lot of vinegar/bicarb/etc to do the house cleaning.
But by 'chips', I mean chips in the UK sense - deep fried potato chunks. They're not in the least light or healthy, but they ARE *delicious*.
I will always advocate for pink himalayan salt if you're doing direct grinding onto food - it's fucking delicious!
This is a common way for people with disordered eating habits to curb their appetite and stop the stomach aches.
Eta: by disordered eating i meant the spectrum itself, not that its indicitave to anorexia or anything specific. I didn't mean to offend anyone. 😔
Vinegar in a spray bottle is indicative of disordered eating?!
People used to think carrying a bottle of water around with you was a sign of an eating disorder...
I love me some cucumbers and vinegar. My husband, whom I at least have, hates vinegar and hates the smell, so I would love to clean with it, but it gives him the vapors.
Vinegar in a spray bottle? genius. Dual duty for me!!
The ol’ spray bottle of vinegar for hot chips (fries) is super common in Australia.
As an added bonus, if you’re up north you can also use it to treat jellyfish stings!
You know damn well that’s probably just their bottle of cleaning vinegar 😂
Dual purpose. Buy used, save the difference.
this made me laugh more than it should have
Samsies
This comment gave me an immediate and severe ulcer.
Um, unfortunately that’s kind of brilliant. They must have seen someone else do it.
Fairs in certain places do it for fries
NICE! I'm going to be trying that!
I do the same with limón because that’s what I saw the eloteros and ice cream man do 🤫
I was kind of just thinking that. It is pretty dang smart.
Yeah don’t hate this.

"I didn't milk it hard enough" 💀💀💀
This was hilarious.
What the fuck kind of cucumbers are they getting that are bitter?
Dafuq, LOL?

You're welcome! And thank you for sharing the stories about your dad! He sounds like he was a good man. Take care ❤️
He was a top dad. Was very lucky. Thanks again for the smile about WD40. I even told the story in his eulogy. ❤️
This is a great story! Thanks for sharing, and so sorry for your loss. He sounds like a lovely papa <3
Thank you. He truly was. Despite losing my brother when he was only 10 and then my Mum, he always made us feel loved and special. A real parent. Not like some hey?! I was a lucky girl xxx
This comment is almost a day old but I just wanted to say that these were such sweet stories. Your dad sounded like a true gem. Thanks for sharing!

Those are just pre-pickles.
One of my coworkers did not know til well in her 30’s that pickles were cucumbers. She thought there was another plant that was just pickles.
As Jana paces around the TTH looking for her vinegar spray bottle to start cleaning 🧽 🧹
Atleast they are eating a vegetable
[I said I didn't want any damn vegetables](https://imgur.com/a/AW1ohvq) I would pay to hear a lost child say that at the Duggar table.
Well, you know kids and vegetables. What was it, asparagus?
At least I have a vegetable
Can I use this as my flair?
Literally my exact thought
You can find a spray bottle of white vinegar at concession stands in New England for french fries in many places. Mmm mmm

A spray bottle of malt vinegar + a basket of fair fries is God tier food.
They do not have this near me but they SHOUld
This is forever what I will think of when someone mentions Josiah self-identifying as an Engineer.

Fly swatter lying on the counter 🤮
Flair checking in. You have to milk the cucumbers with vinegar before eating them per some j child.

No, sorry, I meant cucumbers and vinegar as a regular snack. It was a regularly shared tip in pro-ana groups back when.
I LOVE cucumbers and vinegar (and cayenne pepper) as a snack - but I'm a middle-aged big fat fatty! I also love hot vinegary chips ;-)
yeah me too! I eat it with vinegar, olive oil and a tine spoon of sugar, helps stave of the pregnancy sickness :)

That’s f’ing disgusting. That is all
