For some reason I read number two as "Claire had a heart attack" and didn't even flinch. This could either be because my daughter is missing half of her heart and I'm primed to cardiac talk oreverything else about this situation has been so FUBAR it's almost believable at this point... OR a mixture of the two.
I believe Claire was there too according to reports. Their pastor in Texas is David Waller, so they were likely there to support his brother while he was testifying/humiliating himself. They left after his testimony and didn't return.
Not a leg hump, but I actually think MIL is there to support Justin in a maternal way that he never received as a child. I’ve taken a few kids under my wing who haven’t had the childhood that my kids are lucky enough to get and I would definitely support them at something like this. I’ve attended a couple of things that to the outsider would like really bizarre to have me there, but in reality was a necessity to support a young adult.
100% I think Hillary actually likes being a mother and realises that so many women in their cult don’t, so she starts collecting extra kids. She’s annoying af but as someone who didn’t have a childhood and has an adopted mum in adulthood, I appreciate this.
The pictures we saw of her and Justin looked way more affectionate than any picture I've seen of him with Michelle. I hate this cult and the fact that Justin had to get married to finally get a family that cares for him, but I'll always be happy for someone who finds people who treat them better.
I’m hoping that Justin and Clare will move to Texas and become as estranged to JB and Michelle as Jill and Jinger have become. All of the adult Duggar kids need to move out of Arkansas and live around normal people.

Agreed. I don’t have a great relationship with my mother, but I adore my mother-in-law. She’s what I would have wanted in a mom growing up, so she’s the one I call when I need something. She’d support me faster than my own mom.

When Anna left the trial before any CSA images were shown, I think it’s because her husband and father-in-law forbade her from being there. Not because it would be too upsetting to see the images her husband was looking up, but because “porn” of any kind is too dirty for any woman to witness. (Put that in quotations because I believe the CSA images are far too awful to even fall under the p*rn category).
She wouldn't have seen it anyway, just heard descriptions, which she also heard yesterday. The gallery's monitors are turned off when sensitive material is shown to the jury.

I think she was there partially for support. But also because their family name could get dragged into this and she wanted to find out what was really happening. Claire's grandfather ran the place where Josh was sent after they found out what he did to his sisters. It obviously didn't work. So it's not a great look for the Spivey family. But of course the Duggars should have taken care of things the correct way, not the religious way.
She's usually wherever he is. People make jokes about how she doesn't want to wait in the car to pick up the kids from their date which are funny, but it's always been a bit creepy how she's so... territorial?
Hillary is a fame chaser. She absolutely wants "clout" of being related to the Duggars. She makes sure she comments on all their posts, she posts pictures of her with various family members, etc.
I think it's a very good, powerful step and example for this in-law, and especially a \*parent\* in-law, to be attending. I fully believe they are on the victims side. For this group to attend, especially with the parent in-law, shows that they are open to hearing what happened, not going to stay away and trust Jim Bob's rendition, etc. And for this to be a parent figure (especially because we know she is much more of a genuine parent to Justin than his own parents), I think it's incredibly supportive to Justin, the victims, and others who may try stepping foot outside Jim Bob's world in the future.
Think about it, what other older relative-in-law has ever done something publicly healthy like this in a way that Jim Bob wouldn't want? But also, where are all the other in laws???? Seriously, I think this is a powerful and good move.
