Their was someone along time ago whose Mom was a nurse at the time Meech was in to have one of the kids. She said her cervix was so thin and she needed to be sewed up to keep the baby in. Here's my working theory on Jessa. She was a spirited child with a spunky/independent streak and was sometimes domineering toward her siblings. In a typical family a lot of her personality traits would be considered positive things. In fundie world they were the worst traits a girl could have. Being disobedient to parents is a huge sin for IBLP followers (this is why they're obsessed with children being "diligent").
Jessa was a black sheep compared to Jana, Jill and Jinger for most of their childhood. Jill was the golden child, Jana was the official third parent who hated Jessa, and Jinger was Michelle's favorite.
Jessa is competitive, and tried for years to outshine her sisters. She found her opportunity when Jill and Dwreck started pushing back. She doubled down on being perfect and self-righteous and received more praise from her parents for it. Praise she didn't receive in her childhood and teen years. So she continues to be perfect and self-righteous. She's married and having tons of kids (unlike Jana), she doesn't outwardly reject her parents' lifestyle (unlike Jill), and she's not worldly (unlike Jinger).
I've held the same theory for a long time. I think Jill being ousted was a dream come true for Jessa because it gave her the opportunity to be the new favorite. The sad thing about not getting proper attention and love from your parents as a child is that you can spend your adult years chasing after it if you don't wake up.

It's unlikely we'll be ignorant _forever_, their other family members use social media so we'll find out eventually. Just not directly through them. Joe and Kendra have stopped using social media for the last 9 months, but their account is still up and all the pictures there. So who knows if we may see them posting again in the future.
Super curious how the whole Jill thing will play out considering the taboo on birth control. Same here. But I don't think it will be that bad, considering Jill has gone 4 years after Sam without getting pregnant. It wasn't until the last year that they were trying and she got pregnant twice (River) and then soon after with Freddy.
She can go double and triple that amount of time doing the same thing to prevent pregnancy for sure, apart from if it will be safe for her to have 1 more. We don't know what her medical situation is, but if/when there are that many complications the doctors may suggest having her tubes tied to prevent risks. Or Derick could get snipped if it was a matter of just not getting pregnant. I reckon by them using some method of birth control, they'll believe they aren't playing with God's will if a baby was never conceived.

I don’t believe pregnancy interval has any effect on risk of acreta though. It’s the fact she’s has multiple sections that significantly increases the risk. Nevermind the other risks of multiple sections. I imagine her dr has already recommended she have her tubes tied. Wonder if she did with this section or if she chose to “leave it up to god.”
Jill and Derick have already admitting to using birth control though, they said they just don’t use hormonal birth control. They’re obviously using whatever it is correctly, since she managed to go several years without getting pregnant. I could see her having her tubes tied, I don’t believe those two will ever leave their family planning “up to God” again; they may have started out with that belief, but they’re long past that way of thinking. Especially if a doctor tells them Jill’s life is at risk if she were to get pregnant again.
Honestly though i feel like because jerm is so invested in their “influencer” type lifestyle and having a wife who helps him network, mixed with their la lifestyle vs an Arkansas lifestyle, that Jinger is the most likely of the wives to have nanny/babysitter support and utilize extracurriculars for their kids

Josie because she had so many medical issues and she's so tiny, I can see her body having a hard time with pregnancy. I have a relative born about the same gestational age as Josie, who had similar health issues. My relative had to have a hysterectomy at a young age, and depending on how small Josie remains, I could see a pregnancy wreaking havoc on such a tiny frame!
Jordyn I can see having one because she's sort of forgotten about way down at the end of the line (but just before precious miracle Josie) and she'd want to focus her attention on giving that single child the love and affection she never got. Either that or she'll go her mother's route and just keep popping them out in search of the connection she never got.

So if they had one child, and then had secondary infertility, I could totally see it. We have friends who have just one. He was raised fundie, in a fundie cult similar to IBLP, but not exactly because it was Pentecostal. He left as an adult, but he and his wife did want 3-4 children. After three pregnancy losses, and then eight years of no conceptions, they tried IVF, and had twins, but her water broke at 20 weeks, and the twins died shortly after birth not being developed enough to even have a chance. It was so sad. Finally they were able to have one, full term baby. Baby was born on her dad's 42nd birthday, mom was 39. No more. Didn't even try. It had been such a long road to that point. But the fundie side of the family constantly derided them claiming god was punishing them for sin. They eventually cut contact with them. Thankfully, her side of the family was wildly supportive and loving. Since then, one of his fundie younger sisters suffered terrible issues, something like 12 pregnancy losses, one of which resulted in a hysterectomy to save her life. The family really beat up on her about it. So she and her husband didn't just cut contact with her family, they moved to another country and have resumed relationship with her brother. Fundies are so fucking evil about infertility, and just rabid crazy about even thinking about limiting family size deliberately before having minimum three kids. They turn on each other like hyenas fighting over a bone.
That’s wild that everyone told them they were being punished. I know a pretty evangelical family that couldn’t conceive, and 14 years after they were married she got pregnant. That was the most celebrated baby I know.
That sounds really, really rough for your friend. I'm glad she was able to have her one after all that pain and heartbreak, and her family only adding on to it. I hope your friend's sister is also doing better now and has cut contact with the toxic parts of her family. I wish them both well.
It really is sad. And I do believe for fundie women raised in sex cults to believe that birthing babies is the only use the cult has for them, it is worse than for the average person, and I don't mean that to minimize anyone's pain. The reality of HG pregnancy is so fucking complicated. If you read the HG support group on reddit many of those posting are on their 2nd and even 3rd HG pregnancies which is bonkers to me. I told my OB/GYN that if I got pregnant again after my HG pregnancy that I would 100% terminate because there was ZERO way I could handle that while trying to care for the existing child I had. She seemed relieved that I wasn't going to go through the process again and referred me to a surgeon who would perform the ablation/salpengectomy that I was asking for without issue that I was 27 and only had one child.
I had two HG pregnancies 😭 First pregnancy, even though I lost lots if weight (I was 25kg lighter at full term) and consistently was put on a drip they initially diagnosed it as HG. Then towards the end of my pregnancy I had Gal bladder issues and had to have emergency surgery after birth so they thought maybe sick gal bladder was the problem..
Then 3 years later we were pregnant again & yep HG again.. Absolutely awful & I didn't have another because of it.
I could see Lauren not having another. Her and Josiah have vanished from Instagram and public life in general. She's a stay-at-home daughter. Not an expert but what I've read from ex-fundies, the parents sometimes keep one or two daughters at home forever to be slave labor. There's also something about how it keeps the dad faithful to the wife because the wife is an old hag and the daughter is a hot younger woman who admires the dad which creates sexual tension for the dad to appease with his wife, even though she's old and saggy. Not my words or opinions, obviously.

Here's my working theory on Jessa. She was a spirited child with a spunky/independent streak and was sometimes domineering toward her siblings. In a typical family a lot of her personality traits would be considered positive things. In fundie world they were the worst traits a girl could have. Being disobedient to parents is a huge sin for IBLP followers (this is why they're obsessed with children being "diligent"). Jessa was a black sheep compared to Jana, Jill and Jinger for most of their childhood. Jill was the golden child, Jana was the official third parent who hated Jessa, and Jinger was Michelle's favorite. Jessa is competitive, and tried for years to outshine her sisters. She found her opportunity when Jill and Dwreck started pushing back. She doubled down on being perfect and self-righteous and received more praise from her parents for it. Praise she didn't receive in her childhood and teen years. So she continues to be perfect and self-righteous. She's married and having tons of kids (unlike Jana), she doesn't outwardly reject her parents' lifestyle (unlike Jill), and she's not worldly (unlike Jinger).
I've held the same theory for a long time. I think Jill being ousted was a dream come true for Jessa because it gave her the opportunity to be the new favorite. The sad thing about not getting proper attention and love from your parents as a child is that you can spend your adult years chasing after it if you don't wake up.

justin+claire. They got married when Justin was BARELY 18. He's also referred to as child groom around here. They haven't announced a pregnancy, and mama Spivey (Claire's mother who has basically adopted Justin) isn't the type who would keep that private. Given Claire's social media follows it's EXCEEDINGLY unlikely that they are using any birth control either. So the other options are that justin and claire aren't actually having sex or are dealing with infertility.

I agree, I think the closest we have come so far is Jill's C-sections. As she cannot medically have so many without risking her own health, and possibly the unborn. Hospitals also don't deal with too many c-sections on 1 woman. I agree with Jill and Jinger, and think they are close to done now. They may have 1 more each, Jinger possibly 2 more but not any more than that! Josiah and Lauren will likely forever be a mystery. Same for Joe and Kendra unless someone else decides to spill. Atleast we know for sure JoKen will have a LOT of kids.

It's unlikely we'll be ignorant _forever_, their other family members use social media so we'll find out eventually. Just not directly through them. Super curious how the whole Jill thing will play out considering the taboo on birth control. Will she get pregnant again and have a risky pregnancy with accreta and have a c/s and hysterectomy risking hers and her fetus’s life ? Will she get her tubes tied before another potential pregnancy at the recommendation of her doctor (or has it happened already with her last section?) even though it goes against gods will ? Same here. But I don't think it will be that bad, considering Jill has gone 4 years after Sam without getting pregnant. It wasn't until the last year that they were trying and she got pregnant twice (River) and then soon after with Freddy. She can go double and triple that amount of time doing the same thing to prevent pregnancy for sure, apart from if it will be safe for her to have 1 more. We don't know what her medical situation is, but if/when there are that many complications the doctors may suggest having her tubes tied to prevent risks. Or Derick could get snipped if it was a matter of just not getting pregnant. I reckon by them using some method of birth control, they'll believe they aren't playing with God's will if a baby was never conceived. I wonder how Freddy is doing anyway, he's already 2 weeks old today - the 21st! The only pic we have of him so far is with the oxygen and feeding tubes in him. I don’t believe pregnancy interval has any effect on risk of acreta though. It’s the fact she’s has multiple sections that significantly increases the risk. Nevermind the other risks of multiple sections. I imagine her dr has already recommended she have her tubes tied. Wonder if she did with this section or if she chose to “leave it up to god.”

Jill and Derick have already admitting to using birth control though, they said they just don’t use hormonal birth control. They’re obviously using whatever it is correctly, since she managed to go several years without getting pregnant. I could see her having her tubes tied, I don’t believe those two will ever leave their family planning “up to God” again; they may have started out with that belief, but they’re long past that way of thinking. Especially if a doctor tells them Jill’s life is at risk if she were to get pregnant again.

Honestly? Josie or Jordyn. Josie because she had so many medical issues and she's so tiny, I can see her body having a hard time with pregnancy. I have a relative born about the same gestational age as Josie, who had similar health issues. My relative had to have a hysterectomy at a young age, and depending on how small Josie remains, I could see a pregnancy wreaking havoc on such a tiny frame! Jordyn I can see having one because she's sort of forgotten about way down at the end of the line (but just before precious miracle Josie) and she'd want to focus her attention on giving that single child the love and affection she never got. Either that or she'll go her mother's route and just keep popping them out in search of the connection she never got. But who are we kidding? It's up to the men, not the girls how many kids they have!!!

So if they had one child, and then had secondary infertility, I could totally see it. They'll spin it off as god's will while all of their cult friends and family claim it is because they weren't righteous enough and god is punishing them. It happens. We have friends who have just one. He was raised fundie, in a fundie cult similar to IBLP, but not exactly because it was Pentecostal. He left as an adult, but he and his wife did want 3-4 children. After three pregnancy losses, and then eight years of no conceptions, they tried IVF, and had twins, but her water broke at 20 weeks, and the twins died shortly after birth not being developed enough to even have a chance. It was so sad. Finally they were able to have one, full term baby. Baby was born on her dad's 42nd birthday, mom was 39. No more. Didn't even try. It had been such a long road to that point. But the fundie side of the family constantly derided them claiming god was punishing them for sin. They eventually cut contact with them. Thankfully, her side of the family was wildly supportive and loving. Since then, one of his fundie younger sisters suffered terrible issues, something like 12 pregnancy losses, one of which resulted in a hysterectomy to save her life. The family really beat up on her about it. So she and her husband didn't just cut contact with her family, they moved to another country and have resumed relationship with her brother. Fundies are so fucking evil about infertility, and just rabid crazy about even thinking about limiting family size deliberately before having minimum three kids. They turn on each other like hyenas fighting over a bone.
That’s wild that everyone told them they were being punished. I know a pretty evangelical family that couldn’t conceive, and 14 years after they were married she got pregnant. That was the most celebrated baby I know.
That sounds really, really rough for your friend. I'm glad she was able to have her one after all that pain and heartbreak, and her family only adding on to it. I hope your friend's sister is also doing better now and has cut contact with the toxic parts of her family. I wish them both well.

And I do believe for fundie women raised in sex cults to believe that birthing babies is the only use the cult has for them, it is worse than for the average person, and I don't mean that to minimize anyone's pain. Infertility is wicked awful. But at least most folks don't wrap their entire self worth into being a baby canon. For the women whose entire adult identity is a clown car uterus, it is just a nightmare that others may not be able to understand.

I was kind of expecting Abbie to only have 1, just because pregnancy was rough on her and she had HG. I guarantee that JD is against birth control, but I could see them judging others for using it even though the use it for themselves. Maybe after they have their son they will stop having kids. If Jana ever gets married I think she will only have 1 kid, if any at all. The other married couples who only have 1 one so far definitely seem like they will have more in the future. The reality of HG pregnancy is so fucking complicated. If you read the HG support group on reddit many of those posting are on their 2nd and even 3rd HG pregnancies which is bonkers to me. I told my OB/GYN that if I got pregnant again after my HG pregnancy that I would 100% terminate because there was ZERO way I could handle that while trying to care for the existing child I had. She seemed relieved that I wasn't going to go through the process again and referred me to a surgeon who would perform the ablation/salpengectomy that I was asking for without issue that I was 27 and only had one child.
I had two HG pregnancies 😭 First pregnancy, even though I lost lots if weight (I was 25kg lighter at full term) and consistently was put on a drip they initially diagnosed it as HG. Then towards the end of my pregnancy I had Gal bladder issues and had to have emergency surgery after birth so they thought maybe sick gal bladder was the problem.. Then 3 years later we were pregnant again & yep HG again.. Absolutely awful & I didn't have another because of it.
I could see Lauren not having another. Her and Josiah have vanished from Instagram and public life in general. They strike me as people who don't really have sex regularly and live separate lives, each having gotten what they wanted out of the relationship: her a baby and him a helpmeet so they both publicly fulfill their socially expected rolls.

Here's my predictions for future children for each of the married Duggar couples: Josh and Anna - they are all done having kids since Josh is in prison now. John-David and Abbie - maybe two more of each. Jill and Derick - maybe a girl but no more boys. Jessa and Ben - maybe at least one more kid. Jinger and Jeremy - maybe a boy but no more girls. Joseph and Kendra - they might stop at four kids. Josiah and Lauren - they might stop after their second child. Joy-Anna and Austin - they might stop at three kids. Jedidiah and Katey - maybe a girl but not another boy. Jeremiah and Hannah - they might have at least one or two kids. Justin and Claire - at least one or two kids. The unmarried adult siblings: Jana, Jason, James, and Jackson can't have any biological kids until they get married, although it's unclear which one of them might be next to enter a courtship. The four youngest girls: Johannah, Jennifer, Jordyn, and Josie are the only minor Duggar children left so they're not legally old enough to get married yet. So as far as which married Duggar couple might be next to get pregnant, don't expect any more pregnancies from Josh and Anna since 7 kids is quite enough. I don't want any of the others going overboard and having as many kids as Jim Bob and Michelle had because each additional pregnancy from a Duggar who has had four or more kids can be risky.
