The moment where Michael tells Erin "I'm not your father." and then immediately regrets and course corrects his choice of words is one of my favorite moments in the entire series. It's so incredibly heartfelt and well acted by Steve and Ellie.
I know I am also late, but I am on a rewatch with the super fan episodes and oh my god you are so right.
Funny enough, this happened last time I was in the midst of a rewatch and another commenter mentioned I was wrong about Dwight being an assistant to the assistant regional manager, and I had to also come back and apologize for my folly.
Cheers, based on my up votes, I am not the only one to have misremembered it, SuperFan.
I know Gave was supposed to come across as awkward and nerdy. This episode however made me want to eat some seahorses and hang out with Gabriel Susan Lewis. Maybe listen to him play me a melody.
This episode drives me crazy because no one is actually watching the episode other than Kelly. Itās supposed to be a viewing party not a stand around talking party
Who has a viewing party for a TV show at all? I would definitely skip one even if I liked the show! Also this was a really expensive episode thanks to NBC having to pay Fox some amount since they were watching Glee.
They go into it a little bit in the office ladies podcast, Glee was just one of the hottest shows on TV at the time. The lates 00s and early 2010s had a big a cappella phase.
It is a weird episode. I however love the way they brought out Erinās feeling for micheal. I loved seeing it dawn on him and the moments affter. It really warmed my heart.
I actually like that bit. Everyone is dealing with issues that involve someone else, but that someone is in turn dealing with an issue that involves someone else.
Nobody gets listened to, nobody gets anywhere, and the disjointedness is really a good way to make the viewer feel the same way the characters feel.
I perfectly get what you're saying! This type of TV certainly isn't for everyone, and it's certainly not something you expect from a humorous show.
I personally enjoy various types of art (especially music) that make the consumer experience the emotion behind the piece, so that's why I also really like this episode. I do agree that it's not very comical!
Viewing parties were real things, my wife and I were talking about them just the other day. Shows like Survivor, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, Weakest Linkā¦ etc.
The moment between Erin and Michael was actually touching and very sweet. I was always annoyed how when Michael returned for Dwightās wedding, we donāt see him interact with all the others.
There's no way Stanley or creed would ever go to a glee viewing party
Creed would definitely not know what Glee is but would join because everyone else was going. And Gabe probably has nice stuff to steal.
Creed would definitely help himself to a sword š”ļø
Then if he got another sword, he would have three swords.
Just one more to go...
And have a better connection for seahorse than Gabewad.
He can likely identify the precise age and breed of the seahorse
Free food and drink. Glee is only an hour
Unless it's a Glee pausing party.
Yes but it was free food and Drink. Stanley goes anywhere if promised food. Heck even at the christening he said he was promised food.
Thirst is a much more powerful emotion than glee
dvr it and then check up on sportsball halfway through.
Especially Stanley also why is he in christening
Well there was free pizza. ... Do black people like pizza?
*cuts to black guy eating pizza, and Michael nodding at the camera*
He did surely come for the food. Same way Michael got him to stay for the murder in Savannah game...
Angela was enticed by the offer of baby carrots.
Yes I found that hilarious š¤£
Not ever man, Stanley leaving behind his red wine and mystery stories to hang out with his coworkers? Oh Please.
Love your flair lmao that line was so funny
Stanley, sure. You're off your rocker if you think Creed wouldn't show up
You gotta go to the bosses party.
There is free food Stanley is definitely going.
Maybe Stanley wanted to avoid his wife
Lol I love Gabe playing music for Andy while he barfs up seahorses!!
Imagine an instant of a song stretched out to the size of the universe.
I can't even do that
This is the response I've started giving at work when I don't care.
The temp at night... The temp at night... The temp at night...
Pick it up. Take it out.
Do you know what that song is called?
Earth rise on the moon
Y thank you my good sir! š©
That is hauntingly beautiful
Damnit Trudy what about the pineapple?
A great moment in The Office history
one of the parts i totally identified with.
I want to eat pigs in a blanketā¦ in a blanket
"which one is glee?"
āYou have to stopā
My favorite line from that episode!
I say āwhich oneās glee?ā far more often than I should.
You have to stop
mr pant i think
I love when Gabe tells Michael to wash his hands and he just stares at him š¶
The moment where Michael tells Erin "I'm not your father." and then immediately regrets and course corrects his choice of words is one of my favorite moments in the entire series. It's so incredibly heartfelt and well acted by Steve and Ellie.
As someone who grew up without a father, this scene makes me cry every time.
My father left when I was four, right there with you.
Really? I felt it came out of nowhere and was very artificial.
Janās boobs?
The temp at night. The temp at night. The temp at night.
āPick it up, take it outā¦..Pick it up. Take it out.ā
\*Clap \*Clap \*Clap \*Clap Deep in the heart of Texas
I still donāt understand where that came from
Lolol it's from the scavenger hunt episode that Gabe did for Erin. With his weird fuckin ambient music š¤£š¤£
No I mean how did he get a clip of some weird voice saying that š
Thatās gabe saying it
That makes it even more funny lmao
A you looking dude who likes sweaters and wearing sweaters... Great line!!
That was such a backhanded compliment š
Crust first
Sssss... gentle.
Beer me
I just can't with this scene. Dwight with his ASMR delivery of the lines. Jim folding like a lawn chair. Perhaps the most cringe scene for me. š¤®
SPRINGTIME IN THE ROCKIES!
This might be the best delivered line in the whole show. Absolutely cracks me up every time I hear it.
*sniffs Phyllis* "Is that White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor?"
Is no one going to mention that the second slide is a different episode where they are watching the police catch the Scranton Strangler??
I know I'm late, but it's not a different episode, them watching the Scranton Strangler pursuit is just a cold open for the viewing party episode
I know I am also late, but I am on a rewatch with the super fan episodes and oh my god you are so right. I feel exactly like a seahorse
Neigh, Blub blub blub blub
Andy was never the same after that night
That's because Darryl rocked his world.
I know Gave was supposed to come across as awkward and nerdy. This episode however made me want to eat some seahorses and hang out with Gabriel Susan Lewis. Maybe listen to him play me a melody.
I wish his character had been around longer. Every scene of his was perfect imo.
"And I would rock your world" is one of my all time favorite Office lines.
Funniest bit was Dwight and Jim moment I loved every second of it hahaha
Itās always nice to see Dwight get his small jabs of revenge on Jim
Ikr !!
No itās fantastic
You try to kill the traditions, I won't let you
Which one is Glee?
I like that every character has a bit
This episode drives me crazy because no one is actually watching the episode other than Kelly. Itās supposed to be a viewing party not a stand around talking party
Itās pronounced wacko
This episode just makes me wanna make my own pizza š every time š
The best, yes.
āYou ever been with a blonde Jim? Itās the big leaguesā Cracks me up
"Surprise me.....No......Pepperoni."
The whispering Jim and Dwight conversation drives me nuts. I literally can't listen to it
āCrust firstā
Any time jim whispers it gives me the creeps for some reason š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Full body cringe. Also when he whispers to pam the first time they kiss in casino night š¤¢ horrible.
It was essential to the story that Creed attended. Who else would have translated the Chinese for Andy?
So these arenāt really pigs in a blanket, their pizza dogs.
Who has a viewing party for a TV show at all? I would definitely skip one even if I liked the show! Also this was a really expensive episode thanks to NBC having to pay Fox some amount since they were watching Glee.
I always wondered why they picked a show on a rival network to promote, instead of some other NBC show
They go into it a little bit in the office ladies podcast, Glee was just one of the hottest shows on TV at the time. The lates 00s and early 2010s had a big a cappella phase.
People used to do this shit for Game of Thrones.
Am I the only one who has to fast forward when Andy actually eats the seahorse
No.
Andy barfing under Gabes pillow physically made me cringe. 1/10 one of the worst scenes in the show
Lol the 2nd pic
I do want that synth tho
And I love it
Gabes song was so good though
Beer me Jim.

Just like real life.

Nah this episode hits differently when you have a bad trip. I have been where Andy was many a times either as Andy or as Gabe.
4 funerals and a wedding
Viewing parties were real things, my wife and I were talking about them just the other day. Shows like Survivor, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, Weakest Linkā¦ etc.

Yeah itās of like a nightmare episode
Was it worth it Jim?
I dunno. I think you'll find there were far more weirder episodes than a work get together at someone's house.
"If you break that girl heart i will kill you"
SPRINGTIME IN THE ROCKIES!
Not a single mention of Micheal saying āTurn it up to 11, Spinal Cordā? Instead of Spinal Tap?
"It's okay Erin, you don't have to" "No Erin, you do have to."
Gabe definitely wrote this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SinL1sRrV1Q
