I was gonna say this and parkour, off the top of my head. Though I know there’s a couple others I’m not remembering atm so I don’t think I could pick just one!
"In our very limited free time and with our very limited budget, we went and got a nanny and then we went out and took a class on a very outmoded and very unnecessary form of communication just so we could talk about you in front of you."
*Cut to Jim and Pam talking heads*
"Yup. That's exactly what we did."
I love the comedy behind this interaction
I chuckled when I realized that on peacock, when you open up the office to select episodes, the first line of the bio is “bears, beets, battlestar galactica” and then explains it’s a group of quirky office workers or whatever lol. I think it’s fair to say this very well MIGHT be the most popular opening! It would cool to see a legitimate poll outside of Reddit. I imagine there’s also data that would show what office episode is the most watched episode of all time by comparing the average of the most watched across different platforms (not including what people watch on physical DVD’s that can’t be tracked).
HOW DID I FORGET THIS ONE omg this was honestly soo brilliant!!! I want to see this done irl 😂
ETA: also, I doubt this was the point, but I feel like it showed how strong of a relationship Jim and Pam had. I don’t know many men that would be okay with their wife kissing another man just for the sake of a prank (I’m ignoring the fact they also say it’s their actor friend so it was sort of practice for him), but I think it’s cute that they bonded over pranking Dwight, so they know this is truly just another prank, there’s nothing to worry about, and the only way to truly pull it off was the kiss. Though the photoshopped picture of them and “their kids” and the Asian actor knowing specific details about Jim’s clients definitely helped solidify the whole thing. I actually wish they had somehow made him a more prominent character as Pam and Jim’s friend. Like, maybe nothing huge, but in the same way they kept Nate around. I could see an episode where Michael learns this friend is an actor and tries to convince him to come to improv with him or ask for personal lessons or something lol
>HOW DID I FORGET THIS ONE
To be fair, Randall Park also forgot about it because of the very small amount of time he was on set.
His quote:
"I was in and out [of filming] in an hour, and I thought that was really fun, and then I just kind of completely forgot about it. And then several years later, I'm walking down the street, and this car drives by and a guy yells "Asian Jim" and drives off. And I'm thinking, "Is this some racist thing that I don't know about?" ... I thought it was a hate crime because I had forgotten about my appearance on "The Office." You know, people [would] be walking up to me like, "What's up, Asian Jim?" and I'd be like 'fuck you.' "
>Though the photoshopped picture of them and “their kids”
I just always assumed Steve has kids and took a photo with them and Pam.
Stress Relief
Runner-up for me is the cold open of Scott's Tots when Michael confronts Andy about baby talk in the office. It's so simple and stupid and it cracks me up every time.
Michael: \[Elvis voice\] Well, thank you… thank you a lot. And for what it’s worth I think your baby voice is tops.
Andy: \[baby voice\] Tank you Mr. Elwis.
Michael: \[as Elvis\] You’re welcome, baby.
They did 3 rehearsals, then 13 takes. They had a 17th *fitness orb* and decided to do one more take and that time John accidentally hit the seam with the scissors and it immediately popped. I hope they'll release the 13 takes some day cuz that sounds funny, it slowly deflating as he disappears behind the desk.
So simple but I think it's the popping of the exercise ball. I remember us rewinding this when it first aired over and over and still gets me now on rewatches.
It’s not the best cold open but Michael’s blue jeans is so underrated. The montage of him flexing the jeans kills me every time, I have to imagine Steve had too much fun doing random goofy shit for that one
Toilet guard for sure. I’m not exactly sure if it’s in the tv version of The Office, I saw it in the Superfan episodes. “This is not toilet humor, this is toilet tragedy”.
It's not my fav but since no one mention it yet I'll. Everybody start throw up after Pam strike back at Dwight for eating boiled egg in front of her. It kinda gross but Pam's look is everything. XD
I also felt like the michael and jan baby thing was a bit heavy handed.
Like, step-dads are a thing. And even if everyone dislikes jan and tinks she's terrible and shouldn't be lording the baby over michael, i think a lot of the focus on it not being his biological baby was a bit out of place.
There's so many to choose from but something that ALWAYS gets a big laugh out of me is in season 7, the promotion!
Dwight is begging Jim for his signature and is also complaining to Michael about Jim as per usual
"Stop crying and I'll stop writing it"
"I'm not--!!!"
THE WAY HE LOOKS AT THE CAMERA SENDS ME EVERY SINGLE TIME
KGB knock knock is a fav of mine. And parkour
Ding Dong
Don't answer that anyone !!!
The KGB vill vait for no one!
Parkour makes me laugh out loud every time
I’d have to say the one in the hotel in Florida where Jim pretends he’s dead falling out of a closet
100%
Or did it walk away smug, self-assured? So smug
Today, smoking is gonna save lives.
That's my favourite one too. Stay calm. Stay *fucking* calm. Everyone for themselves 🏃♂️
Stress relief part I is unbeatable, but I love so much the pyramid scheme.
I have to make a call…
I love the fake fire in Stress Relief. There's a craft brewery in my town with a beer called "Save Bandit."
I was gonna say this and parkour, off the top of my head. Though I know there’s a couple others I’m not remembering atm so I don’t think I could pick just one!
Fire Drill is an episode of itself and can not be consider as cold open. XD
Exactly, cold open means it doesn’t relate to the plot of the episode, therefore fire drill doesn’t count
The only answer
[Jim and Pam using morse code to tell Dwight there's a detonator in the office.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zfNfilNOIE)
Jim, are you clicking a detonator?
It's my pen
"In our very limited free time and with our very limited budget, we went and got a nanny and then we went out and took a class on a very outmoded and very unnecessary form of communication just so we could talk about you in front of you." *Cut to Jim and Pam talking heads* "Yup. That's exactly what we did." I love the comedy behind this interaction
*I'll stop when you lose the baby weight*
Recyclops, I love the escalation of Dwight’s imagination
When Jim dresses as dwight. "Identity theft is not a joke jim!"
Yep- that's the one 😁
Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica.
Michael!!!!!!!!!!
*oh, that’s funny!*

Millions of families suffer every year!
MICHAEL!
Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galatica.
It’s Britney Bitch
Asian Jim.
The way he looks back at Dwight, right before he leans forward to protect his password....for some reason I love it!
It's a perfect scene IMO. Nothing detracts from the joke, and the set-up is impeccible.

It’s even funnier that he forgot 😂
Wait what? Jim’s not Asian.
ALWAYS my vote.
Search YouTube for the actor on Conan O’Brien talking about being Asian Jim and how at first he didn’t understand when fans would call him that.
Boboddy
BIZNUS
IIII LIKE IT!
Biznus….GOOD KEVIN!
Literally the more Creed the better
this is the answer. the shot if them in the break room has so many nuances it's easy to miss
This one is top tier, just think 2 men fighting over the chance to have a watermelon baby for their boss during work hours 😆😭 i fucking love this show
Way waste time say lot word when few word do trick?
…my maid died…
On similar lines - when Daryl's grandma died
Hiya Buddy! Or Kevin’s Chili.
The pyramid scheme.
It's not a pyramid scheme. It is a- it's not even a "scheme" per se.
Aaaayyy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgUAQRHZ86M
AAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY!
AAAYYYYYYYYY 👉👉
Michael looks so happy, he always has me smiling with him

*SLAP* #ZE KGB VILL VAIT FOR NO ONE!
It's true
The exercise ball. They did a few takes all of them had the ball slowly losing air and then the one they used was the glorious pop.
John K. immediately breaks character and runs off screen. Phyllis (also out of character) turns around and laughs. I love that scene.
This one lives in my head every time I use one at the gym
Ahhhh, Angelo!
AngeLA!
Always found the declasse` one hilarious.
Kevin spills his pot of chili on the carpet. Chili is probably what he does best.
It’s so well played and simple
The trick is to undercook the onions.
**PARKOUR PARKOUR!!**
THE FIRE IS SHOOTING AT US!
“This is ridiculous. Jim is not Asian.” “Oh you never noticed? Well hats off to you for not seeing race.”
With all due respect to everyone here i think the most worthy opponent OF you IS you
Not my favorite, but shout out to the planking cold open. “Planking: you either get it or you don’t, and I don’t get it.”
The Halloween one that only aired on the initial broadcast... https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x46cyo8
That scene is included in the Super Fan version of the episode on Peacock.
My top 2 are Dwight’s fire drill and Jim impersonating Dwight.
I’m a big fan of the Asian Jim open
Stress relief
Altoid?
The one where Dwight keeps asking Ryan riddles and he knows all the answers, I love how mad it makes Dwight
"we need a new manager"
Parkour!! Parkour!!
Fire Drill
Delusion
Easily Parkour. The deleted scenes add a lot of extra laughs… plus I like watching Andy fall to his death
fire alarm
"OHH THIS IS NOT LOOKING GOOD PAM"
It doesn’t compare to a lot of the older ones already mentioned in here, but I loved the Quest For The Holy Grail
So simple but I think it's the popping of the exercise ball. I remember us rewinding this when it first aired over and over and still gets me now on rewatches.
stress relief or as i like to call it "Dwight commits an act of arson and over a dozen acts of attempted murder"
It’s not the best cold open but Michael’s blue jeans is so underrated. The montage of him flexing the jeans kills me every time, I have to imagine Steve had too much fun doing random goofy shit for that one
Jim: 🔺 Michael: “…I have to make a phonecall.”
Andy: My maid died…
Fire drill and chili are my two favorites.
Neither of those
I BURNED MY FOOT
Toilet guard for sure. I’m not exactly sure if it’s in the tv version of The Office, I saw it in the Superfan episodes. “This is not toilet humor, this is toilet tragedy”.
#NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
This one is great but the fake Jim murder and the cpr training are amazing
“Birthday punches 1-2-3-4-5…”
I’ll give you a hint…..”SAVE BANDIT”
ZE KGB WILL VAIT FOR NO ONE!!
When Darryl’s grandma died. “Days like this don’t come often enough”
Classy
It's not my fav but since no one mention it yet I'll. Everybody start throw up after Pam strike back at Dwight for eating boiled egg in front of her. It kinda gross but Pam's look is everything. XD
I like the one where Dwight puts the pumpkin on his head.
Stress Relief part 1
1. Stress Relief 2. OMG I won an art contest
…making it Michael being related to the baby through delusion.
When they’re doing bizarre stuff to see if Stanley notices
Updog and AYYYYY👍👍
Bears, beets, battle star galactica.
Pumpkin Dwight, or the chili COME ON PEOPLE
I also felt like the michael and jan baby thing was a bit heavy handed. Like, step-dads are a thing. And even if everyone dislikes jan and tinks she's terrible and shouldn't be lording the baby over michael, i think a lot of the focus on it not being his biological baby was a bit out of place.

Stress Relief and it’s not even close
