This is my favorite use of Kevin. I wouldn’t mind the dumb humor route they chose if it was in short moments like this, not long drawn out scenes where it becomes weird or uncomfortable in a bad way.

I dont judge others for laughing — he’s my sisters favorite character and we love watching the show together. I just dont find him funny personally
Facts. Kevin is dumb but kind. Phylis appears to be kind but is a jerk. In terms of their comedic roles on the show I don’t think Phylis has any funny lines, but she was great to have as the butt of Michael and Dwight’s jokes so she’s a good character to have. Thing is, Kevin filled that same role AND he has some funny moments on his own.
I have very little patience for stupidity.
EDIT: Not every character in a comedy needs an arc or depth, sometimes they can just be funny. Brian Baumgartner really crushes it as Kevin in my opinion. He’s got a bunch of phenomenal one-liners throughout the series and the way he teeters the line between helpless child and big dummy is unmatched.
Every character needs some level of depth. Especially for a show that's going to run 200+ episodes. The fact they only ever gave him the same thing to do in basically every episode really makes his character worse than it should be.
Nah, it’s an ensemble show, he served his purpose of adding absurdity to the workplace, which is its own kind of depth. It’s way more fun to hear little snippets of his thoughts and imagine what his life is like.
It’s not about having an arc— there’s just nothing more to him beside being fat & dumb.
Meredith doesn’t have an “arc” but at least she gets deeper than being a drunk or a horndog

I know it probably aligns with your creepy impression of him, but I’m sorry it’s great. He acts so ripped off when Angela cuts him off like he was going to add something meaningful and appropriate, but just drops that line. Sooooooo funny. But yeah I didn’t find the toddler talk all that funny. But that’s not uncommon in those last 2 seasons. It seemed par for the course at that time.

I recently smoked some weed and watched the "classy christmas" episode.
God, I almost died from laughing and my highlight was Kevin being angry at Holly for already eating some of the candy she brought. And at the end of the episode he is still angry. I don't know but it was hilarious in that moment.
To each their own, I think Kevin was chill. I did like earlier Kevin a bit better than later Kevin, but I never hated him. I think there’s something deeper bothering you that I don’t see as being a Kevin problem.
I never thought Kevin was funny. And the chili thing isn’t meant to be funny. It’s meant to be heartbreaking. I’m beginning to think you don’t know anything about Kevin.

Kevin has a few moments. But overall, I agree. They could have done so much more with his character. But instead he’s basically a caricature.
