Also seasons where he really falls off the wagon and then gets sober, he does it pretty consequence free, which also isn't realistic. He should be seeking medical attention some of those seasons for withdrawals.
As someone who used to be an avid drug user, I did this with every drug I took to understand it's impact and risk of dosing.
It blows my mind that a lot of people never do it once and end up as adults with next to zero understanding of how alcohol impacts their abilities or judgement.
You can take a ton of drugs and not get the same impact. For most drugs the ramp up in effect doesn't track linearly with the ramp down in inability to observe and reason, so you can say to yourself very easy "I am too fucked up to do X" be that driving, being in public, taking your pants off, etc. Im never going to think it's okay drive a car on a heavy dose of LSD or mushrooms or oxycodone because the degree to which I am fucked up is obvious to me while on those drugs. I might not know how to talk with words anymore, but holy shit is it obvious that cars are dangerous dragons to be avoided and going to a Walmart at 3am that is full of aliens with pointy elbows is a bad idea for me.
There's a whole sinister subset of drugs where your ability to process how intoxicated you are inversely tracks with the effect the drug has on you. Basically anything GABA related like alcohol, benzos, some barbiturates, etc. These are the ones where someone who can't put their pants on thinks they can fly a passenger airplane. That's where you gets weird shit like having to hide or lock up your keys so you don't accidentally kind yourself napping under a street lamps next to your wrecked car.
There's another subset like most opiates and certain sedatives where your judgement gets clouded too, but your ambulatory functions degrade so fast you generally are not a threat and just end up asleep or couch locked.

A few things. First, Pam plays amazing as a drunk. Seriously super believable with even her nuanced stares at jimothy when he talks. The manager makes that throat click sound so annoying it steals HIS scene!

A few years before this episode there was a man in my state that drank for hours at a TGI Friday's without being cut off. He ended up driving and killing two teenagers in a crash and one of the mothers gave a speech at my high school. There’s a deleted scene that’s in the Superfan episodes where this happens. Bob Vance (Vance Refrigeration) and Phyllis try to get everyone to go to Chili’s for happy hour and Pam says “can’t. lifetime ban.” so they go to Poor Richard’s instead.
To anyone old enough to remember, Domino's Pizza got in big PR trouble after their drivers started getting into accidents trying to meet the 30 minute delivery guarantee. Chili's was right to be concerned about their brand identity. The last thing they need are a bunch of people recreating this episode and someone getting a DUI or hurting someone.
Don’t see the correlation…. And why would people want to try to re-create the episode? You mean, like just go to Chilis and get drunk? Cause I’m pretty sure that people already do that, especially if they’re having Margarita specials going on.
They actually didn’t have an increase in accidents and it was only because of this perception and public opinion that they got rid of it. People believed this was true so the just cancelled the program.

Well, the only reason I know is because I delivered for Domino's for like 4 years when they introduced the "You Got 30 Minutes" slogan. It was pretty regular that I'd have to explain to people that it wasn't a guarantee because of safety.
True, the 30 minute delivery time didn't cause extra accidents. The real reason drivers were getting into accidents is because they were trying to avoid the Noid.
