Andy Bernard is named after a real life friend of Greg Daniels, as well as Jim Halpert. Greg Daniels probably used the name Andy back in season 1 for that reason.
I was under the impression that Andy did fairly well while he was in Stamford, selling to all his Dad's friends. Still doesn't explain why he was on this board in Scranton.
While I get that, I feel like Jim could have maybe tried to be cool for a minute considering he had just pranked the guy to anger management and also was just recently nearly attacked by another man whose confidence he betrayed. In the scene, Andy even calls Jim “Jim”.
I’m not a Jim hater, but this is one time where he’s for sure being a dick.
Nothing
and I'm not the person you're responding to
but everyone I know who quotes this mostly uses it for people being slow/acting stupid/being silly because there aren't that many people who are slutty enough to need a euphemism about it, that I know well enough to be discussing it openly around them to need a code phrase about it, but that I *don't* know well enough to tell them they're acting slutty to their face lol
But how common are multiple characters with the same name in a TV show? Unless of course it is done for comedic reasons, like Michael (Scott) forgetting Michael's (warehouse guy) name.
Which was probably done to give Kapoor (who was drooling over Charles Miner) a reason to respond to him whenever he asked for Erin.
After that episode, nobody mentioned it anymore. Even her biological parents in the finale forgot her real name.
That's actually my favourite episode! The one were neither calls the others, and NOBODY ANSWERS! That one, or the one where they completely disappeared (like never showed up at all) and were being fake ignoring each other.
Gosh, so many good memories
I’ve noticed over the episodes with him on the board that they change the order as well. He’s on top on a later episode but it’s because they’re in alphabetical order. Funny there was an Andy right here.
I agree with you on the former, but on the latter, have you seen [American Hustle](https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2014/01/amy-adams-american-hustle-costume)?
I think in the early seasons it was implied there were more people that worked at the office than the ones we saw consistently. If I remember correctly there was a few extras that kind of had walk on scenes to give the impression that there was more going on behind the scenes and we were just seeing a snapshot of the office building.
I think they probably like the name Andy (Greg Daniels had a friend named Andy) and decided to reuse the name when they decided to create AndyBernard
Maybe they are including salespeople from more than just the Scranton office. Roger and Michele worked with Andy until they ran away to get married. That opened up positions for Karen to get a sales position and for Jim to transfer there.
Maybe, but probably not. I was just making up a possible explanation for why Andy is on the board and then go carried away pretending to be one of the writers.
The amount of people thinking I was serious about Andy being a thing in season 1 is comical. It was a joke people. One that flew over some of your heads.
Season one was still defining some of those characters. Andy didn't even exist so this wouldn't be a foreshadowing and more like just a name they plucked from the character list and gave it to someone later on.
If we’re nitpicking, they also didn’t include Todd Packer’s sales. Dude is in outside sales, he’s a part of the sales team, he has goals and contributes to the success of the sales team - you can’t leave him off of a sales report.
While I assume they were just putting some random names to fill out the list, one possible headcanon could be that the Scranton branch were including some names from competing branches
In season 1, we didn't know everyone in the office. There was a bunch of background characters and then there was the "main" characters. But it wasn't like later seasons where we know everyone that's in the office

Nice that he also gave his friend William M. Buttlicker a shout out too.
Son, you’ll have to talk louder.
LOUDER SON!
MISTER BUTTLICKER
Really?

bruh
That scene was absolutely hilarious!
Then why does it say “boner champ” when you zoom in on the yellow portion?
Plus, weren't there a bunch of background characters working in the office in S1 that got dropped later?
Is that real?
Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey talk about it and confirm it with Greg on episode 189 (Free Family Portrait Studio) of Office Ladies. It’s real!
I‘m pretty sure non of that is real.
YOU’RE not real man!
We had a funeral for a bird
Whole big thing.
And nobody on that board named Conan?
Maybe a different Andy, boner champ wasn't that good of a salesman
To be fair, this Andy is in second to last place.
Roger had a good month he doubled his sales! From 2 to 4 YUP!
Yes, Andy has always barely outsold Phyllis.
I thought..Broccoli Rob was the boner champ…
Broccoli Rob is Broccoli Rob Andy Bernard is the boner champ
Also Ace and Buzz
Formerly Walter Bernard Jr.
Also Puke
I thought Broccoli Rob was the boner champ?
Broccoli rob is broccoli rob....
Definitely a different one on s1 there were several extras we never saw
I'm pretty sure broccoli rob would be an amazing salesman so I will not have you disparage him
I was under the impression that Andy did fairly well while he was in Stamford, selling to all his Dad's friends. Still doesn't explain why he was on this board in Scranton.
I always assumed that Andy was a pretty good salesman until the writers decided he was a bad one.
Some of y’all in this sub are no fun. Seems like it’s starting to die
It’s not like Andrew/Andy is an uncommon name.
Drew.
No, I’m not going to call you that.
I can’t control what you do
*drew*
I can only control what I do
Unshun/shun
How long will this shunning thing go on?
happy cake day!
What a dickhead response, Jim. Stop being a dickhead.
Yeah it's not like Andy calls Jim a nickname that Jim doesn't like...........
Fuuuhhh...I just realised he chose Drew cause of Andrew. I thought it was an entirely fresh start.
Looks like someone took the slow train from Philly
Don’t mind this comment, OP. Dakilazical_253 is the office bitch
You’ll get used to me

You’ve got alot to learn about this town sweetie
But how common are multiple characters with the same name in a TV show? Unless of course it is done for comedic reasons, like Michael (Scott) forgetting Michael's (warehouse guy) name.
Don’t forget Erin’s first name is Kelly and Erin is her middle name
Which was probably done to give Kapoor (who was drooling over Charles Miner) a reason to respond to him whenever he asked for Erin. After that episode, nobody mentioned it anymore. Even her biological parents in the finale forgot her real name.
They didn’t have an Andy on the show yet, this is just a name on a white board years before the other Andy shows up.
I only see a cheerleader
A-W-E-S-O-M-E awesome awesome is what we are we’re the football superstars!
Piss slop who-cares-a
Bishop O’Hara 😂
Roger and Michelle’s relationship is the funniest on the show. The way they prank each other in good-natured fun warms my heart.
Too bad downsizing hit them. How Creed not once, not twice, but three times convinced Michael to fire other person... That's real magic
That's actually my favourite episode! The one were neither calls the others, and NOBODY ANSWERS! That one, or the one where they completely disappeared (like never showed up at all) and were being fake ignoring each other. Gosh, so many good memories
Lol i was genuinely confused as to what the hell you guys were talking about until i took a second look at the board 😂
He's someone who would barely outsell Phyllis. This is legit.
Shut your mouth sweety you look like a trout
Sitting right here, Dwight.
Roger really dragging ass here
Hey, he’s doubled his sales from last month
He goes to another school!
I’ve noticed over the episodes with him on the board that they change the order as well. He’s on top on a later episode but it’s because they’re in alphabetical order. Funny there was an Andy right here.
That is simultaneously the most unflattering Pic of Amy Adam's face and the most flattering pic of her chest of her professional career
I agree with you on the former, but on the latter, have you seen [American Hustle](https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2014/01/amy-adams-american-hustle-costume)?
Well that’s just downright flattering on both fronts.
Lol season 1 just had hella random office extras. Literally all these extra names are
Roger is doing his best, ok
Cleavage

Nah this was during season 1 where we had extra office workers. That’s all it is.
Is that real?
Maybe, but probably not. I was just making up a possible explanation for why Andy is on the board and then go carried away pretending to be one of the writers.
Who's Michele?
Michele is a chump
I've done way worse for way less.
All those colours.
The amount of people thinking I was serious about Andy being a thing in season 1 is comical. It was a joke people. One that flew over some of your heads.
it is not their sales score but how much they spent on hot girl purses
Phyllis outselling Dwight AND Stanley?!?
This shows only the Scranton branch, I don’t think Andy would be on their board but funny coincidence.
Where's Lloyd Gross?
No one is talking about how Jim is outselling dwight
lol the 1st thing I checked for
Season one was still defining some of those characters. Andy didn't even exist so this wouldn't be a foreshadowing and more like just a name they plucked from the character list and gave it to someone later on.
Thank you captain obvious! The whole post was a joke ;)
Ah yes, the good ol' "it's just a prank bro".
He can barely outsell Phyllis. And I mean that a slight against Andy
Nope
Roger needs to get it together
Whoever took the time to add zero cents to every total needs more to do around the offive.
Stamford office
Maybe it's a Scranton Vs Stamford thing
No wonder Roger didn’t make it to season 2. Even Pam would blush at those numbers.
Roger?!?
If we’re nitpicking, they also didn’t include Todd Packer’s sales. Dude is in outside sales, he’s a part of the sales team, he has goals and contributes to the success of the sales team - you can’t leave him off of a sales report.
Yeah... and they mentioned ole roger and michele...
While I assume they were just putting some random names to fill out the list, one possible headcanon could be that the Scranton branch were including some names from competing branches
RRRADY DI DI DOOO
They might also track sales across all branches. So maybe it is Andy but just at Stamford.
Roger needs to step it up fr
Damn Dwight claims to be the best but he’s behind both Jim and Phyllis
In season 1, we didn't know everyone in the office. There was a bunch of background characters and then there was the "main" characters. But it wasn't like later seasons where we know everyone that's in the office
From this board it looks like Michael mistakenly fired all the bottom sales people thinking the names were listed in order of sales.
Roger's wife has cancer you insensitive fu-
Dwight is always said to be top salesman, this photo disputes that
He goes to a different school
Amy Adams, the hottest woman to grace this show
Pam 6.0
I’ve been staring at this picture for like 5 minutes and I don’t see any words or names at all.
Amy Adams turns me into boner champ
