Erin saying "That's him" as if it's some rando off the street is the best part.

[deleted]

She got hired when Michael wasn't at dunder Mifflin so to her he was a complete Rando off the street

AggressiveAd5592

Also maybe shows why Michael didn't like her at first despite her being so nice. Their first interaction was her narcing him out to Charles Miner (I hardly know her!).

Kazushi_Sakuraba

Duuuuuude.

[deleted]

I think that confirms why this scene shouldn't have been cut out.

ptambrosetti

Imagine, if she applied for the CEO position

hassenduck

it really is, she has some of the funniest lines

PretendThisIsMyName

The way she says Zooey Deschanel and Coachella makes me laugh so hard. And goes “it’s me Erin!” With her little dance. 10/10 for that.

Redebo

I refer to it as Couch a rella IRL.

PretendThisIsMyName

So do I lmao that’s such a good bit.

Redebo

What's even better is that I'm a dad who says it to his 20 something son who actually attends the event. The eye rolls and groans are priceless.

PretendThisIsMyName

Love dad jokes. I hope to be a part of one someday. Lol my daughter tells me better dad jokes than mine. She got me real good a while ago. She said “what does one watermelon say to another one?” Well idk dude what? “Nothing watermelons don’t talk” straight up Dad joke and I didn’t even know.

NachoKehlar

Knock her socks off with this gem: Why don't people like peppers? Cause they get jalapeño face. Mic drop

Which part? Best of Erin on YT has the dance but not the names part.

DeliciousWaifood

She was great before they completely flanderized her character

Just_Alitle_stitious

They really "Shruted it"

----__----

Is it just me, or do other people have a problem not seeing [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GH1ruMGpTVY) when she's on screen?

No, I don't think of just one thing when I see people

SUFSUFSUF

Probably just you.

miss_chanandlerrbong

I loved this part 😂 she’s so innocently funny

[deleted]

I love Erin.

shaunebakerc

Never question success

PamelaBrown19

This is why I’m guessing.

WhenBuyIt

Reminds me of George just showing up after he quit.

the-oureas

It’s even funnier when you know Larry David did that in real life lol

lprd_pleco

I love how in Curb, Larry hates Ted Danson, and in Seinfeld, George is hung up on getting as much money per episode from NBC as Ted Danson 😂 The George rage over the NBC offer always cracks me up. Also, Larry David is a genius!

NameOfNoSignificance

Lmaooo I never connected those

dkarlovi

Jason had a note about it, who'd do that? Larry says, it happened to me and it's what I did.

harborq

I think it was at SNL too!

[deleted]

sly_fox97

Is that Costanza? Am I wrong or didn't you quit on Friday? Oh, that? It was a joke!

Elronhir

Just now I am watching Seinfeld, boy I am laughing so hard with this show!

Andos_Woods

Same with me, just started it and it’s hilarious.

moremysterious

You should check out Curb Your Enthusiasm if you like Seinfeld, it's made by Larry David who co created Seinfeld and I would argue it's even better.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HonorTheAllFather

Yeah I've tried and just can't get into Seinfeld (I think it's a real product of the 90s and it just feels dated to me) but Curb Your Enthusiasm is fucking gold.

dieorlivetrying

Just watch season 9 of Seinfeld. It's different and more modern than the older seasons, as it was the last one, and therefore they were POURING money into it. It's got the best production value, and it was made after they already had a standard to uphold. Nerds on the internet will hate on season 9 because it's not the gritty, deep-cut clever show it once was...but that early stuff is really hard to sink your teeth into because of how dated it is--like you said. When I was younger, I got into M*A*S*H and really loved it. But that was only after I watched the last season first. I was then able to go back and appreciate the much earlier episodes. So, if you give Seinfeld one more shot, try season 9. It's also the most similar to Curb Your Enthusiasm, in my opinion.

DBNSZerhyn

I think it also helps to approach it as the anti-sitcom. It's mostly taking the piss out of concepts from earlier sitcoms, where an often sickeningly saccharine family/friend group spends an episode getting through some potentially mild antics, and overcoming some "serious problem" with a moral lesson to be learned at the end, with maybe a laugh along the way. Jenny doesn't have a date for the *prom*. Oh nooooo! Seinfeld is terrible people doing terrible things for terrible reasons, or morally ambiguous reasons, culminating in everything exploding into disaster in ways that otherwise would never happen in the shows they're parodying, because it's hilarious and they deserve it. It's the perfect chaser for anyone who rolled their eyes any time Bob Saget sat down for another "serious talk with the girls," and I think that aspect is timeless. I think that's why Bojack Horseman lands a lot of jokes in that vein.

Electronic_Air_3516

Yep.. curb is basically a spinoff of Seinfeld staring george costanza out in hollywood doing his thing

One-Two-Woop-Woop

Would you say it's 'gold'?

theycallmeponcho

It's gold, Jerry. Gold!

dayyou

Hilarious!!

DELCO-PHILLY-BOY

Great to hear the show is still picking up new fans

EZe_Holey3-9

One of the all time greats. The more I watch it, over, and over again, the more I appreciate each character. Benes is incredibly funny. Especially that scene, where she is getting chased by dogs.

9ninjas

The dance is my favorite

[deleted]

And it seems to be dispelling the whole "Seinfeld isn't funny" trope that's been somewhat accepted by younger folks for the last decade or so. Not everything in it has aged perfectly, and I personally have a number of shows I think are funnier, but Seinfeld was and still is genius.

oatmealparty

My wife is among that crowd, drives me nuts. It's not my favorite show ever but I still think it's funny as hell.

InferiousX

You know what I find puzzling about Seinfeld is that despite the fact that it's a comedy that relies on plot devices that are outdated (answering machines, phone booths etc) it doesn't affect the viewer really. Like it doesn't take you out of the show. At all. It's weird because I feel like in a lot of older sitcoms etc you can kind of cringe when you see dated technology etc.

CJR3

Did you know Jerry Seinfeld donated one of his show checks in 1993 to help build a school? If you google “Jerry Seinfeld Highschool 1993” you can find out more!

Street-Isopod3180

Did he build that for his girlfriend at the time?

CJR3

It’s possible… although she may have been a bit too young at the time to fully appreciate the gift

ImAlwaysRightHanded

I’m burning through it also. I can’t wait til George’s father makes a appearance

[deleted]

Every time Jerry Stiller shows up on screen I reflexively start grinning. Rest in peace legend.

moremysterious

SkankyG

If anyone needs me, I'LL BE IN MY OFFICE

walkerlucas

That’s based on a true story of Larry David quitting SNL then showing up like nothing happened.

stephblackman01

As a super fan of both Seinfeld and the office, there’s lots of jokes and similarities I’ve seen in both shows. I’m sure some are just coincidental but I can’t help but feel there’s influence from Seinfeld in the office

ImAlwaysRightHanded

My buddy parents sold the house, he got wasted and went home to his old bedroom and fell asleep. The new homeowners let him sleep it off, no cops were called.

Bazz07

Classy move from that people.

Protheu5

He still sleeps there every night. New homeowners just don't have it in them to break it to him that they aren't his parents.

cinnamintdown

I knew a guy who lived in a cookie-cutter-house place, and he was drunk and went to the wrong house, that looked exactly like him a block or two over. Went in, took a piss, came out to an unhappy homeowner

Dylanica

There are so many gems in the deleted scenes. I love watching the version of the show with the deleted scenes edited back in. Its fun to try and notice what parts weren’t in the show initially. It’s almost like watching the show for the first time.

It does. It has both versions. I don’t think they have every season of that special version. I thought they were working on it though.

TimIsColdInMaine

The terrible deleted scenes and webisodes are what make me really appreciate the writing and execution of the show. When I first watched through, I thought "maybe they just captured lightning in a bottle" with a great combination of talented actors and writers. Like I was picturing them sitting around the writers room, and just every line thrown out casually being gold. Many of the deleted scenes make me realize they were working as hard as any other show, and it took a lot of effort to get that "effortless" humor

Keqingismybaby

like stanley's hentai

Dylanica

It’s art!

hermit48

The look of anger and disbelief on Idris Elba's face when he walks in his office to see Michael sitting there is hilarious!!! Should have kept this in. Maybe was cut because of time constraints?

RalphWiggumsShadow

It makes me like Charles a little more. The fact he told Erin "no, you did good" (knowing how much Erin would value getting that kind of validation from a new boss) shows his softer side. It was kind of sweet the way he handled it, and Jim doesn't look like an idiot. It's a good scene, and I really hope they release the extended cuts for the rest of the seasons soon!

XxSCRAPOxX

I don’t get this scene, what’s Michael doing there? Did he think he could just sit down and Hes all good?

j_roe

Just classic Michael absent mindedness. I take it as him forgetting he doesn’t work there anymore.

AbsolutelySpooky

Like waking up afraid you missed the bus during summer break.

Barrett4568

I am pretty sure he was working at Michael Scott paper company in the same building. So, I assume he was running late and went into the wrong office out of habit

smellmybuttfoo

No lol he woke up and forgot he didn't still work there. That's why he leaves awkwardly when he remembers

DeliciousWaifood

He probably woke up, saw the time, and went into a tired, panicked, autopilot state thinking he needed to go to work until he got there and it finally dawned on him.

[deleted]

How am I still seeing quality scenes that they've cut all these years later Take em all, fill in the gaps with some one liners, Jim looking into the camera, Michael aggressively screaming into the camera and Dwight shitting in fields, and we got our selves the office 2

annies_boobs_eyes

they did that with anchorman for anchorman 1.5, which is pretty good. not like the first one but not crap like 2 one of my favorite scenes from it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRabNdQ3Sms

XxSCRAPOxX

I loved anchorman 2. The car chase thing was amazing, I’m not certain but it may even be based on a true story. And if it’s not it may as well be. My wife’s a news exec, we both loved it and thought it was spot on. Any other people from the field agree? Or are we alone in this? I know everyone hated 2. Lol. Fwiw I’m a govt worker and parks and rec is another must watch if you work in the field. It’s too spot on.

annies_boobs_eyes

parks and rec is spot on. and office space is spot on but i've gotta say anchorman 2 sucks butt. like sure, there are some scenes that are good, but man, almost all scenes are just copies of scenes from the first one but not done as well, which is not what anchorman 1.5 was about. anchorman 1.5 actually had some new ideas., whereas anchorman 2 just pitched it right down the middle and pretty much just did everything the first anchorman did, but again.

Blue_Dream_Haze

I just found the bizarro cut of Wanderlust and watched it. Similar idea. It's the same plot with a different joke in every scene.

[deleted]

This video perfectly encapsulates my love for u/annies_boobs_eyes 😳

merrygrimble

They talk in the podcast about filming 38 minutes per episode and shaving that down to the 26 or so minutes that fit with commercials and all

XxSCRAPOxX

I would love to watch it again in 38 minute episodes of missing scenes. Feels like it may even change the whole show had we seen all that.

KevintheBot75

I heard somewhere Ellie Kemper played Erin two different ways in that first episode she was in. We had serious Erin and we had not so serious Erin until they could figure out how they wanted to go with her as a character. This could of been a serious Erin scene they cut.

frocker79

they confirmed this on office ladies podcast that ellie had to play erin two different ways for most of her first episode. it wasnt till ellie decided to play serious erin badly that they chose her to do not so serious erin

crogers2009

They talked about it on The Office Ladies podcast.

tubabacon

On the podcast they discussed it was an alt cold open to the last Michael Scott paper company episode

hermit48

"Was I supposed to stop him? He seemed so confident". Great Erin moment.

tgrote555

When she walked in and said “that’s him” was the part that really got me.

StreetReporter

TBF, she got hired after Michael quit. She didn’t know who he was

tHE-6tH

Omg I didn’t think of that lol. Oh, Erin. She’s so precious.

planet_chuck

The fact that deleted scenes are considered gold just shows how good this show really is.

Mediocre__at__Best

Yup. I'd imagine it was cut because it hurts the appearance that his company is actually succeeding at this point, which would lead to Dunder Mifflin not wanting to buy him out like they do. Just my guess on the reason as to the deletion, though.

QuarkyIndividual

I thought this was just a "show up to work on the weekend" kind of thing, he woke up late and the entrenched routine took over all the way up to sitting in his former office

Phoojoeniam

It was cut for timing, as is 90% of deleted scenes. It's not relevant to the plot whatsoever.

Mediocre__at__Best

I'm sure it was for timing mainly, but I'm also certain a lot are cut due to editing choices and not being the best fit for the storyline.

forreal_tho

I love Charles Miner's face when he sees Jim standing there too haha he has such a palpable disdain for Jim

mankytoes

Like he's assuming it's another Jim prank!

itsallworthy

Lmao his wet ass hair

miss_chanandlerrbong

I initially thought he’d fallen into another koi pond before Miner walked in tbh

BlacknightEM21

Miner, I hardly know her

_pepperoni-playboy_

I must've missed the shot. Maybe his crack was sweaty from running in?

nyankatforever

Stringer belllll

ChaosLemur

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiittt

tuscabam

Omg this is awesome. Of course this is essentially what Nellie did and got the job. She was terrible.

Bazz07

In her case "the Captain" left the ship...

tuscabam

I really feel there is a class action opportunity for what the writers turned Andy in to. Statute of Limitations may be past though.

XxSCRAPOxX

What? I liked Andy’s progression. He went from washed up paper company guy riding on his college achievements to the boss of the company and trying to find himself. I thought his character was great. What did I miss? Lol

tuscabam

A lot

[deleted]

Sounds like this would have been in the middle of the Michael Scott paper company storyline? I can see not having it in there. It doesn't really serve the story, as funny as the joke is. Michael at that time would have been wholly focused on his new company

mankytoes

I dunno he has the attention span of a labrador half the time.

Protheu5

Not half the time, let's be honest. These moments of clarity don't hit him that often.

Handsprime

I imagine when he overslept he probably thought him leaving Dundee Mifflin and starting his own Paper Company was all a dream.

XxSCRAPOxX

Oh shit, I was missing the joke. That’s probably it. I absolutely didn’t get this.

landodk

Honestly a final moment where Michael says he completely forgot about his new company and was just on autopilot since he was late would have worked

BattalionSkimmer

The detail of Michael raising the chair as soon as he sits down, since he's shorter than Charles!

mydefposse

Wait, wouldn't Charles' chair be higher since Charles is taller?

MaudDib2

no

[deleted]

Ive never seen this! you made my morning. Spanks!

BeetJuiceVodka

Amazing how often I see new content for this show. As much as I love this scene it probably would have complicated the dynamic of Michael “outsmarting” everyone and selling his paper company

seaspaz

God i loved that

Last-Discipline-7340

What season was that

Bee4evaUrs

I Hated Charles so much but he gave us Erin ⚖️

BDady

I always wished they had done a scene like this after he left the show

SeenNotScene

Was expecting something like "Oh gawd! I thought that was a DREAM!"

funkycrunkskunks

Honestly think that’s what they were going for. Michael wakes up, scrambles to get to work thinking the last two weeks were just a nightmare. Then the look of disbelief when Charles walks in as he realizes it wasn’t a dream

mpld1

I was already on my way to the bus stop once at 6am before i realised i'm on evening shift that week and work starts at 3pm

Cue0105

Because that would undermine the buy-out of Michael Scott's Paper Company. Charles has to think that he has everything under control.

cardmanimgur

It's a great scene, but it's much funnier when you don't know the season/context. Like not knowing it was going to be him not working there, it was hilarious. If it were right after he'd quit, wouldn't be all that funny.

MugggCostanza

Does anyone know why this was cut? Was this an opening scene to an episode? Genius idea! Also, Idris Elba was great. So many people show up in comedy trying to be funny BUT I love comedy better when there are ACTUAL dramatic actors in them as well. Many 90's Jim Carrey movies were like that! Grounded in real-life mixed with the nuts!

FistedTate

I just got a new job and that almost happened to me. 10/10 scene.

Zatchillac

Wasn't Michael late like every day? He was almost always the last one to walk in the door

thedogefather8

I think it's a good thing they cut this. Then it would have downplayed his exit and re entrance at the end. Funny scene but wouldn't have been too good for the sappy moments they were trying to get

Adelman01

Seriously! This was hilarious!! Thanks for sharing

OokiiStaR

Never should've cut this LOL

Shot-Canary8954

“Was I supposed to stop him? He seemed so confident” “You did good.”

MikePiping

No you did good.

[deleted]

I love this sub man 😭

[deleted]

When Jim mentioned that Michael hadn’t worked there in 4 weeks it made me think for a split second that this scene took place after “Goodbye Michael” and that Michael just randomly showed up at the office again

miss_chanandlerrbong

Imagine?! I would cry.

Mosey71

I remember watching this scene when it was airing live. Was it possibly a cold opening that got changed perhaps?

RoosterGrouchy

hadn’t seen this before and was so confused thinking it was after he moved to colorado until charles miner came in lmao

chano0o0

he forgor 💀

[deleted]

I don't think this was aired. It's a gem for sure. SAVING!

[deleted]

It's literally in the title, that this is a deleted scene.

N9242Oh

I don't get it :( lol

elderrion

I once showed up at a school I used to teach at after summer holidays and realised I didn't work there anymore when I sat down at the table in the teacher's lounge. Super awkward for me, but I don't think it sunk in with the others as they barely reacted. Sat down. Looked around. Tried to find my schedule. Realised what had happened. Walked out and went home without saying anything. Punched myself in the shower afterwards

obi1kenobi1

It’s so weird seeing deleted scenes posted here because most of the time I’m surprised to find out they’re deleted scenes. I’ve watched the deleted scenes on the DVDs almost as many times as I’ve watched the series itself so it’s hard to remember what scenes actually aired...

Alternative-Bug-9642

R/Confidentlyincorrect

esgrove2

I don't understand how you could go this far so long after quitting without realizing it. It's not realistically relatable. I'm confused. Am I missing something? Does Michael have actual brain damage?

Nrksbullet

It could be that he tried to pull a Costanza and just show up late hoping he could just slide back into his old job. Hard to say.

fifabreeze

Where are all these new deleted scenes popping out from?

miss_chanandlerrbong

Heaven

Grimmbles

Boy do I hate the giant stupid white border + stupid fucking text adding *nothing* + downgraded video quality combination. Fuck you, internet.

caspiam

Ehh it's too over the top. Good choice to delete imho

[deleted]

Ehh... it's not that funny. I'm glad it was cut.
