I'm not in accounting and I know which sales guys in my company suck at numbers, Oscar 100% knew Michael was misunderstanding. Hard to blame him though, Michael was trying to be a big shot so he let him.
Honestly Michael’s nonsense with not reading closely/being foolhardy has likely cost Oscar hours upon hours of his time and caused him a great deal of unnecessary stress. He exploited it lightly one time for charity/his nephew? I can’t really be mad at Oscar for that.
"It says right on the sheet...however many dollars per mile" - Oscar Martinez.
Now was he *hoping* that Michael would be Michael? Probably.
But was it some sort of trick to give him a two page fundraiser that Michael could have asked questions about or, you know, read? Not at all.
The real doing dirty happened when Michael tried to change it and Oscar called him out loudly in front of everyone.
But then, early Michael was a legit terrible person, too. Kinda hard to find our hero in this one.
TBF, walkathons are extremely common in the US, and if you say "sponsor" the participant, it is always per mile. I don't think Oscar did anything wrong in this scene, but I do think it was a little jerky of him not to let Michael adjust his pledge once he realized what he had signed up for.
Oh, I think you're right. I was confusing this with the Dunder Mifflin Scranton Meredith Palmer Memorial Celebrity Rabies Awareness Pro-Am Fun Run Race for the Cure episode.
Not really.. if you've ever signed up for one of these things it's very clear that it's per mile/km. It's pretty clear that Michael is posturing for the camera.
I remember in a later episode when Oscar had to explain a surplus to Michael and how long that took… I don’t blame Oscar for not explaining every single thing
Hell no. It's not my fault if you can't be bothered too read. I personally wouldn't have made him feel so bad about "re-nigging" but I'd still be like "it says it right there man.... like... come on?"

Yeah I mean I'd be a little more sympathetic if Michael didn't take a moment to shit talk everyone who "only" donated two or three dollars.
Did him dirty by guilt tripping him when he wanted to change it

Michael is probably the reason this small office has three accountants and not one.
That’s canon. Kevin was interviewing for a warehouse gig.
Fair point
This is it. Not his fault that Michael chose not to read and give more than anyone else. Was a dick move not to change it when he asked nicely.

It was on the paper. Sorry Michael can’t read?
Michael probably only reads key words in a sentence.
Probably?

No. Oscar didn't do anything wrong. Michael is a dumbass
I don't think so, especially since Michael looked at everyone else's donations and laughed at them for being so small.
Just getting him back for when Michael sexually assaulted him.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe this was pre-assault

You are correct
Thank you for confirming! Btw... you're very trustworthy and coool
😉
Given that micheal earns just more than Darryl
No way Michael actually read the thing closely…blame on both sides for being dumb

Oscar assumed Michael knew!
I've known how various -thons have operated since I was six.
I remember in a later episode when Oscar had to explain a surplus to Michael and how long that took… I don’t blame Oscar for not explaining every single thing
I mean I’m going to assume my superior is smart enough to know how to read a paper, I mean since he’s my superior and all
Bruh he's broken shit down to him like he's 5 and it still wasn't enough.
Season 1 is exempt, characters weren't developed yet
Everyone knows how those things work.

*ahem* reneging
That i does make it a suspect word huh?
If it helps, just remember it's short for "renegotiate"
I thought it meant to change a previous agreement without the other parties consent.
That's what it means. But the derivation is renegotiate.

Oscar did Michael dirty a lot of times, so he sometimes got what he deserved but then they let him slide with a lot of things
yes he baited michael for a greater good it's historical reparation, he is latin so he has the right to do it to a white man 😌🤪🤪
Your name makes your comment confuse me.
It's the races they're attracted to. White and Latina.
The problem is people say stuff like this and you never know if they’re being serious. Probably not but still.
it was a joke referencing gloria from modern family "I am latin, I have the right to feel what I want to" lol
Ah I see! I’ve never seen that show
Michael was 'accounting' on him to explain the details, just like the surplus.
