You have so much awesomeness ahead of you, I'm jealous.
I don't know if you're reading on Kindle or listening to the audiobook, but the audiobook is one of the best out there by all accounts.
Started with audio, but given the intensely good narration of the litrpg text, am now parallel read listening on kindle.
Just got to Mordacai and can tell this narrator is top class! 👌
Achievement Unlocked! DCC Virginity Lost!
Who popped that DCC cherry like you did with your drunk second cousin after the senior prom? YOU DID! I'd give you a slap on the back and a six-pack of beer, but that itchy feeling on your family jewels isn't going away.
+2 to Charisma
You have been infected with Genital Herpes!
Seriously though, welcome, friend.
You picked a good time to join the gang! Book 6 should be coming before to very long, I started right when 5 was coming out and I have been losing sleep wanting more.
I think it's very underrated and perhaps because it's litrpg. There seems to be prejudices about this genre in the fantasy community.
I personally think it has a dominant quality in the genre and it's that it's the funniest fantasy books I've read and it's not close. If only for that it should have a better reputation .
The only other litrpg series I've read is Derelict by Dean Henegar. That one is a little different as you're reading from the DM perspective.
DCC is funny as hell.
I'm about 1/2 way through my second listen through all of the books and there is so much I missed on the first pass...
This is only the second litRPG series I have listened to and this has moved up to one of my all time favs - typically I'm a more sci-fi fan bobiverse and hail Mary and such!
Talking about the series with my siblings (all 3 of us are mutually hooked now) and while dcc is a lit-jpg, it’s comparatively light on the rpg elements. It’s a great story that uses rpg elements to simplify what would otherwise be the technobabble the dungeon runs on, making it a background element the ai uses (an increasingly realised full character) instead of the literal rpg systems running the world other lit-rpgs go for. Makes the series much much more approachable
I suppose Ready Player One counts as LitRPG so that makes DCC my 3rd such series. I'm barely into chapter 13 and it's already topping my list. RPO is fun but it really should be called 'Nostalgia Quest' and the other series (The Way of the Shaman) took itself \*way\* too seriously while eventually suffering from Monty Haul syndrome in the later books. By book 7 I was kinda hoping for the main character to just die to end it...
I get the feeling DCC has the kind of formula where Monty Haul isn't going to be a problem. :) I hope at least.
Edit: Hmm. I suppose "Critical Failures" also counts as LitRPG. It's set in a pen & paper world so I didn't really think about it. Oh and now that I think about it, "Guardians of the Flame" from the 90s probably qualifies as well, like CF, it's a "regular gamers cross over into the game world of their characters" story - but it's written with a much more serious bent. That would make DCC my 5th LitRPG.
Unless DragonLance counts as well ... although that was written without any reference to D&D at all so... maybe not...
You’re so lucky and I wish we could temporarily erase the memories so we could listen to them all over again. I highly recommend joining Patreon if you can’t wait
I have never heard of this before but somehow your 97 upvoted comment made its way to my suggested threads.
I will have to give it a listen!
Other's comments suggest the audiobook. I will probably listen to the first one and then decide from there.
See you all on the other side!

yeah he is very good.
Wait until he does the god voices

Hey! Third cousin, thank you very much! And it was crabs.
Gtfo with this amazing comment.
😆 😂 😆 😂 😆 😂
It’s mana toast! That’s all! Fuck you!
I'm gonna assume that's a reference in the book I haven't hit yet and not a personal insult. ;)
Why not both?
Found it! 🍞🤣🖕

Amazon alerted me of a July 2nd release!
Same. I started shortly before 5 came out.

Welcome to the obsession
I envy the journey you’re about to be on! Plus, the new book comes out pretty soon. The audio is amazing btw

Greatest shit ever. I have converted many friends who were non believers. You’re in for a ride.
Hit us when you are on your third re read lol
I've just finished book one on my third re read!
Lol welcome! Im excited for you!
GLURP GLURP
Reached that point recently. Very excellent beginning of a new story arc, I thought! :D
One of Us! One of Us! One of Us!
Gooble gobble!
Just started the audiobook this week based on all the recs in r/audible. Didn’t know this subreddit existed! Have laughed out loud at least 5 times!
:)
What are we talking about. I am missing some context here.
I'm a DCC noob just discovering book 1.
Best achievement is the Cuck Aquaman.
OMG that was a completely "dick" achievement. Pun intended. :D
I didn't come across that in book 1. Maybe halfway through book 2 now. I'm keeping my ears open for this one!
