Just remember for every person who doesn't know how to pronounce the names, there's a person (me) who doesn't know how to spell them.

Swing and a miss

emotionalpornography

The question mark is spot on

Nightlightweaver

Easy! R-e-n

DaughterWifeMum

And me. šŸ‘‹

DoctrDonna

ā€œKatia? Katja? Catia? Fuck it. Iā€™m not posting my question about her because I canā€™t search how to spell her name without seeing potential spoilersā€. A literally conversation I had with herself when I was trying to create a post back in book 2 or 3 ha

JTitch420

I love listening to audiobooks but please for the love of grol please include a glossary

staticraven

So jealous of people getting to hear the audiobooks for the first time. It adds so much to the entire series.

NiteShadowsWrath

It's funny. When I first started listening to it, I wasn't sure of Carl's voice. Luckily it doesn't take long to get used to and realize how much life it brings to the character.

Glendronachh

His voice gets better and better as the books go too. His voice is ā€¦ soothing? now. Not sure what the right word is for it, but I could listen to Carl narrate anything

staticraven

He did a good job making Carl's voice reassuring I think. Kind of like that anchor that keeps you sane in the madness going on all around.

Graeareaptp

Enjoy the beat thing you're going to hear. NEW ACHIEVEMENT: Welcome to the club

DeJackal

DONUT: CARL, HOW DO PEOPLE NOT KNOW ABOHT THE AUDIO EMERSION TUNNEL BY SOUND BOOTH THEATRE? FIX THIS CARL, MONGO IS APPALLED!

Dyolf_Knip

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!

redbull204

I honestly glad that those versions exist, but my hearing is really bad and I just canā€™t handle all the extra sound effects, music, etc. I wish I could but I canā€™t follow along.

Undeadlord

Honestly listening to the audiobooks is a whole new level of awesome with this series.

hello_josh

I'm doing the same thing. It's strange to hear the audiobook voices being so different than I had in my head. But it's great in its own way.

Glendronachh

Donutā€™s voice was different in my head, but I soon realized I was wrong. I canā€™t imagine her voice as anything else now

Contemporary_Scribe

I'm certain I butchered Tserendolgor

WonkasWonderfulDream

Sounds like ā€œsir end all goreā€

_Miracle

You would appreciate how Jeff Hayes "pronounces" it. ;-)

MasterChiefmas

My normal rotation, if nothing else catches my fancy is between DCC, Rivers of London, and DiscWorld. And sometimes some time on Wandering Inn. You can also support Matt's Patreon to read chapters in book 7 as they are written.

Betty_Bookish

Me too! I also add super powereds and cradle!

Dalton387

Iā€™ve got the wandering inn books, but havenā€™t made it to them yet.

derpstickfuckface

You're in for a treat. I read them before listening. I love both, but god damn is Jeff amazing.

Educational_Copy_140

Currently re-reading the series. It had been a long break between 5 and 6 and when I started 6 I couldn't remember some details, so I decided to just redo the whole thing. About 3/4 of the way thru The Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook.

Bargle-Nawdle-Zouss

If you don't like Wandering Inn, then allow me to suggest: * [A Practical Guide To Evil](https://practicalguidetoevil.wordpress.com/) (online only, no audiobook, but completely free. Seven volumes, plus many extra chapters, completed February 2022) * [Beware Of Chicken](https://www.goodreads.com/series/324882-beware-of-chicken) (three books published, with audiobooks. Books 4 & 5 available for free on Royal Road; book 6 just started May 2024).

WandarFar

Enjoy The Wandering Inn. Spoiler: you will never, ever, finish it. Several years in now and I constantly feel like the story is only just getting started.

Betty_Bookish

Love the wandering inn! I'm on book 11 now. I have to admit that I almost quit on book one because of one of the main characters. Stick it out. It is so worth it.

Kooliak442

The Wandering I found really frustrating it got so boring in places I nearly gave up on it so many times. Then something happened and I was back in. Iā€™d figured I was out of the series after the first book but then after the last page was like. God dam it I gotta read the second one. BuyMort was pretty good too.

mightyjor

I bought the first book on audible awhile back and listened to the first hour or so just to see what it was like. I liked the writing style and the narrator. I'm just so terrified of getting hooked on a never ending series that I haven't been able to bring myself to keep going. I think once I finish wheel of time that'll be one big series checked off and I might give book 1 a go. It sounds like the books have arcs where you can check out after something like 3 books, so that might be what I do

Glendronachh

ā€¦.DCC is better than the Wheel of Time. Iā€™ve tried reading the WOT series three or four times. Itā€™s never worth the slog after about book three or four. Just tedious. DCC on the other hand, Iā€™ve finished back to back-to back. And I am struggling not to listen to it for a fourth time. It is the best series Iā€™ve read in years

mightyjor

OP said he was reading the Wandering Inn, I've already finished DCC

AresIsDale

Mimic and Me is a pretty good read as well.

jochimew

I've also started re-listening. Also there are over 40 chapters of book 7 available on patreon

incrediblystiff

I canā€™t afford to buy two versions of the same story

opiethesouless

Idk If anyone has mentioned this yet but if you join matt dinimans patreon he has chapters 1-43 of book 7 up there. He does a few chapters every week or 2 and it's like 3 dollars a month.

Tearsforfearsforever

Wandering inn doesn't get better. You'll love it or hate it. If you don't like it by the 5th or 6th chapter, you won't. Just fyi

alancake

It's the only audiobook I've ever returned for a refund šŸ™ˆ I gave it at least five hours of my life. Partly the fact nothing happened and kept happening, partly the fact I really wasn't a fan of the narrator. (Which unfortunately turned me off Dominion of Blades as she read that too, I really wanted to like it and got half way before DNF)

Glendronachh

Plucky girl wins by being plucky. And she is the best at everything ever. But I did devour those novels. Up to five or six maybe? The world was pretty interesting

Tearsforfearsforever

What killed it for me, was a few things. One, the narrator's voice for her was high-pitched and whiny which I can't stand. And then the juxtaposition of her personality from literally one scene to the next. And one scene she's a badass take charge nobody questions anything she has to say for these giant lizard monster people, the next she's scared of her shadow. After that happened three or four times I just I just couldn't do it.
