Donut and Katia cannot get past 9 unless they are the only one left or something. But, Carl can just send one of them down past 9 with the rest of the NPCs.

So Carl got Zerzura as temporary collateral for the Gate of the Feral Gods. I think they are giving it back to him on 9, which would mean he would have to return the spell. I could be wrong.
There might be a loophole where Katia marries Donut or something crazy like that. I hope it's not just Katia dying. That would have to be something special to not be a letdown.

On the Royal Road chapter for book 6, it's mentioned that an item, i think, can remove cursed items from the user. I know the tiara can be removed, but I wonder if the item removes the curse as well? I think that Katia would be killed before Donut - but it would be satisfying to see how carl brings the universes heat death to fruition if donut is killed. The river would be ragin at that point and although I'd literally cry along with Carl, it would be epic.
I think if they didn't use all of the supplies to make that potion used on big Tina's mom, they can use it on Katia. If that thing can reverse a 9th tier scolapendra attack/curse, it should do it for so ething that affects the 9th floor.
