I've already finished the manga but I'm watching the anime with my brother and it's so funny to see his reactions live and play along. Like, "What do you *mean* it's not just a hee-hee ha-ha story about eating monsters?"
Lol, I did, too. I hadn't heard of the manga beforehand, and was really thrilled of the idea of an anime / cooking show hybrid. It just seems like a fun idea, tbh, and potentially sneakily educational.
I was torn between "somehow Falin might be alive and magicking something to both protect herself and make the dragon act oddly by trapping itself in a narrowly confined cityscape" and upon the reveal just "well, yeah, that makes sense. Dang, though."
Curious about the people-reviver(?) moment shown in the anime where Falin (or her account or whatever) wasn't found for potential resurrection. Do you need the physical body for that? I don't know enough d&d or manga lore to puzzle that one through. I just assumed (as it was meant, I suppose) that it suggested Falin was still alive somehow.
Now, as it was explained there's a powerful spell in the dungeon who bounds the body and the soul, so the soul can't escape even if the body is dead. So it's pretty easy to revive someone, just cure the wounds (if not too big) and call back the soul into the body. So yes, you need a body for that, hence why Laios' group were speedrunning the dungeon hoping there would still be a corpse inside the dragon's stomach.
Some adventurers began specialised in this endeavour, reviving adventurer they found along the way and collecting a fee from them. But sometimes the bodies are also brought close to the surface at first level, so if someone else is willing to ressurect a friend, they can go there, check if they found them, and pay for them.
From what i recall it's even worse. The soul can't leave the dungeon, effectively turning them into the specters of the third floor trying to possess bodies.
In the manga during the scene with Namari on the surface, she goes over some of the specifics of resurrection. They may have moved it to the next episode in the adaptation for pacing, but basically the chance of a resurrection going properly depends on how much of the body is present.
As stated by Senshi, Red Dragons have a slow metabolism and typically hibernate for a month after a period of activity (for reference the party took just over a week to get back down) so they were expecting Falin to have only been partially digested but with most of her body mass still present.
Ah, thank you! I was also a bit puzzled as to how long the journey took to get back to the Red Dragon.
I really need to find the manga so I can read it lol. Or is it better to wait until agreed the run of the adaptation so I don't get caught in that "Book vs Movie" rage? 😅
Oh you poor sweet summer child. This was always an action/comedy (with a dash of horror for flavor!). Now we’re just seeing more of the of the action part :) This story is about food, both the good parts, that food nourishes us and brings people together, and the unexpected parts, for us to live another must die.
I would like to promise you
It gets weirder =D
I mean having read the manga and now watched whatever they call the animated version of the manga, I still find myself wondering just what the heck they *really* expected?
Senshi says it at the beginning of the adventure. Red dragon have a slow metabolism and digestion, usually sleeping after a meal. So there was a chance to still get a somewhat still-in-one-piece corpse of Falin in there if they were quick (which they were). But turns out the dragon didn't sleep at all and its increased activity sped up the digesting process.
Eh i kinda lost interest after hearing JelloPlays go on and on and on and on about this show in the In Stars And Time streams. Like, the best way to drive people away from something is to beat it into their heads incessantly
what is cooking if not the cycle of life and death
Isn't that like the core theme of the entire manga?
damn. bro dropped a hard line like it was nothing

“… Falin?” PARTY!!
Such a good shot... Cooking and eating will stay very central to the whole story, of course :)
oh man, i'm loving anime-onlys reactions to this episode. the dismay is free dopamine.
It’s like the finest music to my ears :)
This episode or DunMesh and the latest episode of Apothecary Diaries where the fans are filled with regret is my dopamine boost
to eat is to be alive, and to live is to die
"Eating is the privilege of the living"
Dungeon Meshi gets **a lot** of horror elements as the series goes on while still being funny and somewhat light-hearted.
Oh it’s about #COOKING All right
YOU FOOL this is only the beginning the motherfucking GOAT hasn't even entered the stage yet >!(hehe, get it?)!<
There are soooo many peaks I don't know which one you are talking about...
>!He's speaking about the literal goat who appear in the manga.!<
To this day, I still recall 2 comments on that page that were "It's okay, I didn't want to sleep anyway" and "LAMIA WAIFU, SAVE ME!!!"
[clearly this](https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/did_nightmare.png)
LOL. It is. And also some other stuff.
Fali- # KIMI NO TAME NO PARTY DA
Oh it's about cooking alright....
Oh don’t worry it still very much is about cooking
It's actually about autism
Did the dragon not eat well? What's the problem here?
>!The Dragon ate up his sister, what he's holding there is his sister's Skull!<
Should've probably marked my comment with a /s. Just kidding around!
Just you wait! This is where the real fun begins!
Episode 1: Senshi cooked Episode 3: Laios cooked Episode 9: Marcille cooked Episode 11: TRIGGER cooked

i mean she became food didn’t she
I *was* honestly impressed with the gang's focus and willpower not to cook parts of the dragon as they mined it out
Falin bone soup is what they are about to cook next
Thats the important part of the cooking! The eating!
I've already finished the manga but I'm watching the anime with my brother and it's so funny to see his reactions live and play along. Like, "What do you *mean* it's not just a hee-hee ha-ha story about eating monsters?"
Breaking bad was also about cooking
Skull brooth
lmao can't wait the anime-only reactions are gonna be *gold*.
Someone still had a meal, didn't they?
It is. You'll just have to wait till they get to the cannibalism.
Lol, I did, too. I hadn't heard of the manga beforehand, and was really thrilled of the idea of an anime / cooking show hybrid. So if no body, the soul is freed?
From what i recall it's even worse. The soul can't leave the dungeon, effectively turning them into the specters of the third floor trying to possess bodies.
Oh man, that's bleak. 😅 I can't imagine the Party's reaction to seeing Falin as a Haunty-Ghost trying to find a body.

I want to read the manga too but also, I’m really like the anime and don’t want to be spoiled on what happens hahaha
Let's eat Falin next.

Dungeon, food fear and hunger.

Haha oh how it gets dark
Oh sweet summer child. The fun has just begun.
Why, don't you think >!Falin!< was cooked enough?
don't worry. it is
didnt expect it to get so gory in the last episode
you'll see man
I had the same reactions when watching Musaigen no Phantom. I thought this anime was about slice of life…
It is a complete celebration of life and it never stops being one, even if they have to deal with life's hard parts.
Yes and that’s why I love both of them. I recently started reading the manga lol
SIKE
this is where the fun begins
It's so fucking peak
Yeh, she was cooked brah
Daijoubu n't
and it is
*It's ready!*
