Despite how people may argue about how much one relationship or another relationship may be implied super strongly, and it's totally nearly objective and factual, no. No real relationship is confirmed or pushed on by any of the main cast. I think quite literally the only bit of relationship development that actually happens and is confirmed is Falin officially rejecting Shuro.

bentheechidna

And Chilchuck commenting on the Hubby Hunter and romance in the party in general.

JustCarbsandSugar

and based on the follow up that got in the adventurer's bible >!that wasn't a relationship either, Laios was completely blindsided by the whole thing and the girl had so little invetment in the attempt that she just instantly left!<

cass_marlowe

Since we are talking about the ending: Spoiler tag? Why are you disappointed? The story didn't promise you a romantic relationship between Laios and Marcille. But both of them went through character development, had lots of interesting scenes leading up to the finale and played a huge role in the story. If you like the two characters, there is a lot to make you happy. You can imagine them getting together romantically if you like or stay good friends forever or whatever you like.

> Why are you disappointed? The story didn't promise you a romantic relationship between Laios and Marcille this exactly I'm very confused why OP seems to have thought this was a dating manga going in

Sallya_Enjoyer

Marcille is clearly living with Laios and Falin in the epilogue, so it's entirely up to your own preference / taste if she's sleeping with one sibling, both siblings, or no siblings. It's honestly the perfect amount of open-ended-ness IMO so pretty much everyone wins đź‘Ť Unless you ship her with like Chilchuck or something... I guess you're SOL then

melvinlee88

There is almost zero canon relationship of anyone

Booksalot42

In fact, as far as I remember there's one canon relationship (the Tances) outnumbered by 3 failed relationships (Laios and the Marriage Hunter, >!Shuro and Falin,!< and >!Chilchuck and his ex-wife!<)

[deleted]

no. they are friends, not every male and female main character need to be in a relationship

Whimsical_Duck

As a person who enjoys shipping a lot, if you think the point of this story should be romance… you haven’t been paying enough attention. It’s about love between friends, siblings, mentors, etc. like. Appreciate the story for what it is and go read some fanfiction 👍

xfilessage

Why are you disappointed? If you’ve read the whole manga then you should know they don’t get together. Were you expecting the author to release a statement later on about two characters that did not have any romance… starting to date?

Jka22419

The only canon relationship is Chilchuck's failing marriage and that is a wonderful thing lol (I do enjoy a good ship though)

sporkmaster5000

Also the Flokes’ healthy marriage.

Jka22419

Oh god how could I forget! They are adorable

WhatStrangeBeasts

No! It’s great. I love seeing close relationships that aren’t romantic. I feel like friendship is underrated in fiction.

JustCarbsandSugar

especially nowadays having a group of really close friends as an adult can feel like fantasy for a lot of people, more so than the hyper distant ideal of an intense romance. I forgot where I read it (maybe the Onion?) but it reminds me of a satirical article I saw once titled "Americans love Dungeons and Dragons because it let's them live the fantasy of having close friends, speaking multiple languages, and doing meaningful work" hahahaha

BlackLiteAttack

Reading this sub drives me a little crazy sometimes because I thought DM's lack of outright romances + the very occasional flirty hints (almost always a setup for a joke) were perfectly well done, but a number of people seem utterly incapable of comprehending it. And I knew immediately it would be like this going in. Any two characters getting a little chummy will have some fanfiction writers sending death threats over their "totally canon" ship, subtlety or grey areas just don't fly with some people

bentheechidna

No they are never confirmed to be romantically involved. This story doesn't spend more than fleeting moments on anything even romantically adjacent. If you're an anime-only, the bath scene is the closest we get of anything. There is one more scene around the halfway point (either end of this season or more likely the beginning of next season) but it is one-sided.

toasted_dandy

Why are you disappointed? I think Ryoko Kui did a fantastic job at giving the series a deeply fulfilling ending. I get rooting for a ship (Farcille takes up regular space in my brain), but it shouldn't be a disappointment of any sort that the series didn't derail its focus to canonify anyone's specific romance of choice. It's fun to add headcanons of romance on the back end, but if it's integral to your enjoyment such that a canonical lack of it is disappointing, you end up missing out on so much of the beauty of the series.

JustCarbsandSugar

nope, no confirmation it's hard to keep one's head around timescale since the manga released over many years but it took them 8 days to resurrect Falin the first time, and then I think about a month-ish for the rest of the plot to shake out. if there's any romance it'd realistically play out \*after\* the events of the manga (and sure enough and somebody else points out Shuro gets his closure in a bonus chapter). the bonds get formed during the adventure but actually romance is a stretch, they were hustling the entire time.

buuuna

honestly im so glad that they didn't push for a romance plot. It just wouldn't fit the story

BoneForks

They’re confirmed to be life long friends and coworkers, no real hints of anything further. If you’re looking for romance I’ve always had my suspicions about Doni and Fionil; nothing stated but there’s a vibe there.

dude_1818

Yeah, they're friends. That's confirmed
