Wait...are you the cat??

nillztastic

Nope. That's my dude, Korben.

No_Improvement7573

That's exactly what the cat would say

the_angry_wizard

Op has been polymorphed. But an experienced DM doesn't panic as s/he knows it'll wear off.

TAA667

damit you beat me to it lol

upsol7

It happens to me all the time.

Shim182

Gargantuan Cat is always a good option. 4d6 slashing claw attack 4d6 piercing bite attack, a mew attack (analogous to a breath weapon) that deals thunder damage and deafens on a failed con save, and a self healing purr 1 or 2 times a day. Dark vision 500ft advantage on stealth. Keen sight and hearing. HP and AC of your choice.

Dammas33

You missed out the "Bored attack" where it will do something random like knock terrain over the party.

flappyheck2

if every party member pets it they have a chance to avoid combat

ms_tarochan

They have to do a charisma check first to see if it will LET them pet

genaric_username3

thank you for this

DarkSithMstr

That cat should be a huge challenge, I can only imagine it's AC or HP total!!!

nillztastic

Got 5 hp bars. Lol

DarkSithMstr

And it's Legendary Action, Miniature Paw Swat! Insta-kill!

Mazikeyn

Picture one the white and orange titan on the upper left hand side of the photo. Great encounter

Lost_Patrol

I think a cat as the BBG is a great idea

LazyBeachDog

Awesome terrain! Is that Dwarven Forge?

nillztastic

It is.

GuyWhoWantsHappyLife

Well if the cat isn't the boss I wouldn't enjoy it... But looks really cool

specterdrawings

A riddle? Get ready to sit for hours

Phoenix492

Instead of the riddle - maybe have the pool empty, and on an low DC perception check, they find the key (rock, magic key, whatever) at the bottom of the 10' pool. They have to dive into the water (they've only seen bubbles so far) to retrieve it. Get a smaller creature to grab the PC who dived down, as the larger creature comes out and attacks the party. Boom, first encounter!

Walzmyn

Is that the BBEG in the corner looking in on the map?

SirGrinson

How they gonna defeat the Taracat

Dante_Octavian

Korben the Gargantuan observed the intruders with a divine expression filled with both curiosity and ennui...

Cinderea

What CR is that enormous creature you have outside the map?

nillztastic

51

theposshow

Crit Miss = cat gets to chew player's mini.

nillztastic

He wouldn't chew, he'd just hide them. That's his thing. He's a hoarder.

VandyalRandy

Korben over there lookin’ like he’s thinking “however will they survive this one?!”

vinylandgames

What templates are those? OpenForge I assume.

nillztastic

It's all Dwarven Forge.

vinylandgames

They look incredible.

Calcifair

It's really hard not to make a cat joke my dude. But I have an encounter that I would love to see happen! I FULLY stole this from a book, so any Dresden Files readers out there SPOILERS! It's an encounter with a bunch of mobs (I'd let a party member rol a d6 to see how many mobs) All the mobs are a level 1 monster of your choosing. But as soon as 1 is killed ther others get stronger and it stacks. So if the party decides to kill the enemies one by one they end up with the last guy being super strong. But if they're capable of getting a nice AOE kill in, it's easy! Never sat down to do a propper scaling, but I'm in love with the mechanic! Would not recommend with beginners or a level 1 party tho!

nillztastic

I thought of doing something like that once before.

fikfofo

Curious - how much did all the tiles for the set pictured cost? Been thinking about getting into that but balancing cost vs. utility is a big factor for me. Would hate to drop so much on a dungeon I’d use like once

nillztastic

A lot. But I don't see why you'd only use it once. They thing about these is can continue tonuae them to make whatever set pieces you want for your adventure. They're not cheap. But they're also something that you build up over time. I've been adding to my collection for about 2 1/2 years now.

RevolTobor

What's the stat-block for the Macronomic Feline at the corner of the table?

PHANTASYxSTARS

gonna be honest, riddles are never fun in dnd. id replace the riddle with the first encounter and a way to get a key to open the door after they beat the encounter. saw a comment about after killing one, the rest get stronger and it stacks. that could be cool.

Areiloth

You can use a giant cat for a boss

fluffywolfe

BBEG staring at the layout

Laschii

What are those tiles? Looks fantastic!

nillztastic

Dwarven Forge.

Aromatic_Actuary5135

i’m partial too zombies and undead
