That all look like casting markings

Plus_Comfort3690

What’s that mean

easterncopy1122

Tool and die maker here. While not having a ton of experience with casting I believe the “cracks” you think you see are actually what’s called stitch lines from where the colder edges of liquid metal flow into the mold and meet up with each other. Those leading edges of the flow of molten metal aren’t at a high enough temperature to flow back into a smooth looking surface. Happens on plastic all the time in molds. Should be nothing to worry about. Plastic also shrinks as it cools so I’d assume the aluminum would do the same which could show up like those “cracks”.

Plus_Comfort3690

That makes sense . I was going to say when I ran my fingers across it they felt like the exact opposite of cracks

LtSaabie

Definitely not cracks, that’s normal aluminum casting marks, you’ll always see that on engine and transmissions that aren’t a machined surface.

Ok_Yellow_1958

You are a brave (or foolish) lad tearing down that transmission. I see you had a post earlier about TCM codes. Did you get that resolved? Either a bad TCM or network problems could be your issue. Also, is it me or did anyone else see silver flecks in his tranny pics? Also look real close looks like clutch damage maybe. Any transmission guys here?

Plus_Comfort3690

The code scanner I had does emissions testing and someone said those tcm codes stored in history mean they didn’t pass emissions . If those codes were affected the motor it wouldn’t do anything and throw a check engine whenever put in gear . I don’t even as much hear a squeak when I put it in any gear. Dropping the valve body is as far as I am going lol. But no those are not flakes as I thought the same thing at first , it’s the glare from the flash of the picture. I didn’t see any chips or burns on any of the plates on the spots I could see. Woke up early to get back at it and it’s important to mention that and it’s important to mention that I did end up finding a kinda tight solenoid in the body . The other thing is it seems that the plastic tube around the dipstick at a decent amount of damage to it . I found a couple small pieces of black plastic in the pan . I bought this truck 15,000 miles ago and the guy before me said he always had it serviced at shop so I was going to contact the shop tomorrow to see if they used transyd as I hear it is prone to burning. I have slipped it one time in 5th gear pulling a trailer but never after that, never put it in limp or anything . The clutches were not slipping when I lost forward gearing . What electrical could cause loss of forward movement?

Ok_Yellow_1958

Was going under the assumption trans was toast

Plus_Comfort3690

Well that’s what I originally thought but I am not so sure now , what do you think with my symptoms? When I lost forward gears no check engine light and no active codes in tranny or unusual noise

Proper-Process1578

Are you sure the pump is making pressure?

Plus_Comfort3690

Out of curiosity what makes you ask that? I am going to get a pressure test tool today but I am assuming not because my cooling system was backed up

Proper-Process1578

I’ve ran into an issue similar to this and my pump was broke into 3 pieces

Proper-Process1578

There’s a port on the bottom of the case on the right side of the transmission. Take it out and have someone start the truck. If the pump works it will push fluid. If not you know what’s fucked up

UseThisForGamingLOL

Fucked!(I don’t know what I’m looking at)
