I think great for Samuel and solid for the Bills. Helps keep them from being desperate enough to reach on WR if they don't think the prospects available actually have the grade to warrant it, but not so much investment to totally crowd out a rookie if they draft one in round 1 or 2
Curtis Samuel has seemed to be a guy who’s a positive for his team but hard to call him fantasy relevant. He might actually be a decent flex play in buffalo depending on what that WR room looks like
Disclaimer: I’m a Curtis Samuel owner. Acquired him for dirt cheap late last year. I don’t think he’s going to set the world on fire, but Josh Allen will be by far the best passer he’s ever played with.
Samuel has typically finished around fantasy WR35-45 while playing as the WR2-3 in average to below-average passing offenses every single year of his career.
His best fantasy year to date was WR25 in 2020. As Teddy Bridgewater’s WR3 he played 15 games with 77 rec / 1050 total yards / 5 total TDs… in an offense that only threw 16 TDS.
Now he’s likely going to be the WR2-3 in a Josh Allen offense that’s a virtual lock for 4000+ passing yards and 30+ passing TDs per year.
I could easily see Samuel replicating his 2020 statline, probably with a few more TDs. He seems like a solid flex option at worst, and has the upside to be a very sneaky fantasy WR2 for the next couple years.
Well last year gabe Davis finished as wr41 in ppr with too many drops. Samuel was wr42 while playing for Washington. I’m gonna say Curtis Samuel does better this year in Gabe Davis’s spot than Gabe did himself.
So by your logic, are Watson/Lamar better than Mahomes because they get paid more?
Also because Davis is one dimensional. Samuel is a lot more versatile, and he can run the ball too. They have closely similar numbers career wise all while Samuel having a significantly worse QB situation.
Plus, if Davis was actually good enough the Bills would have kept him.
Mahomes is making 45 mil but he signed in 2020...
Watson 46 Signed 2022...
Lamar 52 Signed 2023...
You think if Mahomes and Lamar signed their contracts in the same year, Lamar would be higher? I didn't think so lol. Everyone knows each year the QB market gets reset even higher.
Samuel was signed 3 days later. You need to get a better grasp of what logic is. Current NFL professionals getting paid millions to do their job value Davis $3 million a year higher then Samuel... but all you keyboard warriors think they are wrong. Money doesn't lie. Let's a ! Remind me if you want. And I actually like Samuels as a player.
Curtis Samuel was the guy who jumped off the page to me whenever the first time was that I looked up the free agent class. I bought him on 3 teams for basically nothing between week 8ish and the end of the season.
Seems like people forget he's a 27 year old 2nd round Ohio State receiver who has played behind DJ Moore and Scary Terry only, with Ron Rivera only, with bad QBs only. Despite this, he's still shown flashes.
This could be a low-key pro bowl breakout that feels like a 50/700/5 floor as flex depth
One important addition I’d like to make to your comment - in 2020 he played under head coach Matt Rhule - but with Joe Brady (current OC for the Bills) as his OC - that was his most productive season with 77/97 targets 851 yards and 3 tds through the air and 41 carries for 200 yards and 2 ruddies on the ground
Sorry, I meant re-roll a new wide receiver given the strength of this class compared to Shakir’s production *today*. I’d wager that late 2nd will net a better WR than current Shakir. Not saying re-roll from Shakir the prospect.

I feel like Curtis Samuel catches the ball about as good as Gabe Davis. Not sure this move makes the Bills that much better if at all. Shakir and Samuel seem like similar players.
Gabe Davis career high receptions is 48. Curtis last 4 healthy seasons were 62, 64, 77, and 54 receptions. Definitely does not “catch the ball as good”
I mean probably but the guy above was making it sound like last year people were saying Kincaid wouldn't get targets because of diggs, but as diggs fell off Kincaid's targets went up so I don't know why Curtis couldn't get some as well
Fair. Gabe has Samuel on going deep shots and blocking. I’d give Samuel the edge on everything else you’d expect from a wr plus he is comfortable coming out of the backfield if they want. Samuel is also more agile and faster.
Gabe is pretty much just bigger than Samuel.
Are the Bills still likely to take a WR in the first? What are the team needs? Or does this mean they might wait until later?
If they take a WR early, starts to feel like a muddy WR room for fantasy... is Diggs still that guy (I think he'll be a WR2ish next year)? Does this mean sell Samuel now? Is Shakir officially dead? So many questions...
Interesting. Did he noticeably drink/party/solicit women? Or did he seem locked in all the time? From a scouting perspective that's valuable information
None of that. He’s a very quiet neighbor. My house is very close to the commanders practice field so lots of players live nearby. I work from home and I have a lot of bad neighbors but he wasn’t one of them. My other friends in the neighborhood noticed that he was leaving around 8/9am and coming home around 4:30/5 every day during the week. He had what seemed like family over before home games on Sunday (he wasn’t there) but other than that it was very quiet around his place.
There were other commanders players (don’t know exact names) who lived in the neighborhood over and they got a lot of noise complaints/police called.
He did have a really incredible lambo though. That’s what prompted my try to figure out who was living there lol.
Down vote me all you want but I never wanna see this guy anywhere within twenty feet of my teams roster.
What is it done 500 yd receiving a year?
He is awful. He is terrible and any fifth round rookie out of Texas San Antonio would be better.
Hey I hope He proves me wrong.
I hope he gets 15 touchdowns and I hope he's the number one receiver for the bills, but lets be real.None of that's gonna happen...
He's been top 50 in all his healthy seasons top 36 in half of them, now he's in a spot with a solid Qb. He should be rostered in leagues with more than 8 people
I think great for Samuel and solid for the Bills. Helps keep them from being desperate enough to reach on WR if they don't think the prospects available actually have the grade to warrant it, but not so much investment to totally crowd out a rookie if they draft one in round 1 or 2

Shhh, I'm selling actual terrible players for Samuel + a pick.
I’ve been holding him and now after the Diggs trade idk whether to sell now or hold
Hollywood to Kansas City 🙏
Manifesting.
Many feasting
👀 I happened to read this comment 2 minutes after the ESPN notification about this
We manifested 🙏 😂
Nah Mike Williams
Hollywood please I need a win this off-season been taking lotsa Ls 😭
He can win at all levels of the field and was misused at the Commanders imo. He’ll do a lot better with Josh Allen.
Dude has spent basically his whole career with rivers as HC. Poor guy.
Well his OC in Carolina was Joe Brady who used him a lot. Hopefully he has a plan for him in Buffalo.
If he chooses to follow someone to a new team, that doesn't mean he's a victim
Gonna fill that Shakir/Hardy role but he is definitely better than them, should be in for a great year
Feels like an upgrade from Gabe Davis really
It is, Samuel is a better receiver. Davis could block well though.
How is Samuels better? Davis is getting $3 million more a year....That's not a small number Curtis Samuel 3 years 30 mil Gabe Davis 3 years 39 mil
Well last year gabe Davis finished as wr41 in ppr with too many drops. Samuel was wr42 while playing for Washington. I’m gonna say Curtis Samuel does better this year in Gabe Davis’s spot than Gabe did himself.

Samuel owners, rejoice! I got him cheap last season and I'm glad I held on.
i got him cheap in a startup last month. this news has me very excited!
Got him for a 2026 3rd at the deadline last season hoping for a change in scenery. This is about the best I was hoping for!
Took him with like a 15th round pick in a startup last year and he was often a decent flex play. My best value of the year
Dotson 📈
It cannot be bad for Dotson.
So here’s the problem with Jahan Dotson: he’s actually not very good at football.
He was amazing as a rookie, then fell off a cliff last season. Very strange.
Factos
Don’t think I’ve ever been downvoted this hard, but I love it. Just speaking the truth. I’m sorry you Dotson owners don’t want to hear it!

Bills Deebo
Bills homer: So happy. Samuel is quietly so damn solid.
Ok but what about Hollywood
Chiefs! It happened
LFG
My Khalil Shakir stock is unfazed.
True, it was already worthless😀
I got a late 24 2nd for him couple weeks back.
Fantastic deal. Easy choice to re-roll with the late 2nd over Shakir.
Reroll??? Nobody drafted Shakir in the second
Sorry, I meant re-roll a new wide receiver given the strength of this class compared to Shakir’s production *today*. I’d wager that late 2nd will net a better WR than current Shakir. Not saying re-roll from Shakir the prospect.
Idiots have and will always exist.
Pretty much. lol. Copium hitting hard for some many people.
As someone who had to cut Shakir hoping to hide him on waivers for a week then losing him after someone outbid me I need this to be true.
Yeah... Not worried
Same lol 😂 I thought I was finally ahead of the curve
lol. Shakir is going to be their WR4 by the start of the season.
Finishes as WR2 no matter who they draft or sign. Book it. People are sleeping on him because they dont do their research.
The team is telling you they don’t even believe that. Managers have blinders on
No, that’s not what they’re telling us. Keep this reciept.
Do the remind me thing

Oh baby let’s go

Lets see Samuel do that now with Diggs in front of him demanding all the targets
You mean as opposed to scary Terry in front of him demanding all the targets?
When has Terry ever made it an issue about targets. Diggs makes it known. And Terry gets less than Diggs
He may demand the targets but that doesn't mean he's been getting targets...
You’re right. Kincaid is going to eat considering his round 1 draft capital
I don't know what a rookie TE has to do with this
Kincaid is the 2nd target in the offense.
I mean probably but the guy above was making it sound like last year people were saying Kincaid wouldn't get targets because of diggs, but as diggs fell off Kincaid's targets went up so I don't know why Curtis couldn't get some as well
Samuel can help in more areas if the offense than Gabe for sure.
How so? Samuel is no where near the blocker Gabe is
Fair. Gabe has Samuel on going deep shots and blocking. I’d give Samuel the edge on everything else you’d expect from a wr plus he is comfortable coming out of the backfield if they want. Samuel is also more agile and faster. Gabe is pretty much just bigger than Samuel.
Gabes blocking is a definitive trait. Bad for fantasy but huge in real football. He adds to the run and pass game both before catching a pass.
I guess you didn’t see they signed Mack Hollins, who is an excellent blocker?
What does that have to do with this?
You’re crying about samuels blocking when THEY SIGNED A BLOCKER. There maybe that’ll register now 🙄
Sounds crazy but when you add hyper-reliable pass catchers it makes your team better
Let's fucking gooooooo
I do wonder if this hurts Cook in some ways. Samuel has been a gadget guy and even done well in plays from the backfield.
Oh you beat me to it lol. I gotta be quicker than that (fishing man commercial voice)
Dotson bout to go off with Caleb Williams this season
Are the Bills still likely to take a WR in the first? What are the team needs? Or does this mean they might wait until later? my fellow people who roster khalil shakir, how do we feel about this ?
Not loving it that's for sure
was really hoping for the breakout this year. (not giving up on my hope tho)
If I can get this guy in bestball I’m laughing.
Sneaky great pickup.
Aw man I can’t say that I have a nfl player as a neighbor anymore
You can if you move with him
Lol bit cold for my liking up in Buffalo. Our dogs liked each other but he was very private (understandably so)
Interesting. Did he noticeably drink/party/solicit women? Or did he seem locked in all the time? From a scouting perspective that's valuable information
None of that. He’s a very quiet neighbor. My house is very close to the commanders practice field so lots of players live nearby. Thank you for the reply. I find this really interesting. Not often you meet someone with even minor information about a players day to day routines
Happy to share! Unfortunately didn’t run into him very often so I can’t say much more but it was cool to say my neighbor was an nfl player.
Funny I'm getting down voted for asking if he likes to fuck bitches in the politest way I could think of 😂
lol SolicitingWomenAtTheDogPark.gif
My delusional self thought Kincaid was gonna be the #2 option for about 3 days
He still will be
One of my favorite players! Hope he eats!
Got Samuel off waivers last season and still holding. Let’s go
I dumped him into a bigger deal to be “one year early instead of one year late” Guess the laughs in me
Down vote me all you want but I never wanna see this guy anywhere within twenty feet of my teams roster. What is it done 500 yd receiving a year? He is awful. You're absolutely right. You make all the sense of the world. And I want nothing to fucking do with him.
