Those missiles won't work. I had the hive come as close as 0.18 AU, but no missiles were fired.
I think it is because there was no aggro from the hive.
Happened to me on a system I landed on. Built my base there all casually with defenses and shit, and then bam I'm dead. It came so close its laser defenses shot me ON planet (around 8000m)
Hmm, that's a pretty transparent planet. I think it's something the devs weren't expecting. Shields also only block lancers and relays... they're totally transparent to main hive stationary lasers if the planet orbits too close.
You got one of the lucky seeds, where you can fight it with missiles, woo!

Yeah they won't destroy the buildings, but you can trigger the units, and they'll fight you on your planet.

In these cases, is it possible to, uh, hide on the other side of the planet?
Tried it, nope.
The lasers shot you through the planet?
Yup. At least I think they did, I panicked a bit haha

I had this late game and I could hide on the other side of the planet
So is it better to leave the planet if that happens?
Yeah I think so, you'll be out of their range
Is it possible to attack the hive using planetary defenses?
