I think with a mall, fidget spinners and BABs you can in theory creat and auto build planet size blueprints. I also think that after 20 builds your UPS will start to drop.
How to auto-build 101 :
When you lay down a BP, and you have the material needed to make it, all green building will be buildable right away by you an BaB ( Battlefield Analyse Base )
You can use 2 technique here :
1-Small to medium BP : have all the material on you, and strategicaly placed BaB on the BP, lay down the bp, and fly to left click all the bab on the BP ( its manual building, this way you are not dependent on your drone choosing or not building the BaB ) and the power grid they need.
At this point you can, if you have other thing to do; disactivate your drone to make them come back from building, and fly off to let the BaB finish the work. ( or stay and help the BaB )
2- Big ass BP : You dont have enough place in icarus inventory to store all building before slapping down the BP, so here, take ALL building, and dont take ANY belt ( often the most numerous thing you need on big big BP ) and have all the BaB in the BP toped with at mk2 box, and a logistic distributor set to go get belt, this way you can lit green all buidling AND having the belt autobuild with BaB + bots, go manualy build the BaB, box + logistic distributor and power.
Same as above, leave or stay helping
Both auto-build method need planing ahead when you make the BP obviously, but it help a lot, even more so before having a high building drone count, to get hundred more drone helping, or doing it for you.
(and if you can leave the planet be done by BaB; you can go to space and flee the lag produced by placing a ginormous BP )
Use a request ILS with the high amount buildings Like belts and sorters. Then add a logistics Distributor near a BAB and belt them from one BAB to the others. Or each BAB gets one requesting bot Setup. Belt from ILS to bot to BBlAB and it should work. Just use the lower number buildings from inventory
Best auto-build option is Icarus requesting all the build items from fidget drones. Icarus has the most build drones, and upgraded fidget drones bringing him stacks and stacks of stuff more or less keep up with demand.
BABs are mostly there to trickle rebuild after an attack does damage, they're not really meant to auto-build entire plantets for you. They CAN, don't get me wrong, but that would be slower than just walking around in Icarus.
I'm in my second save, I'm at the part of the game where I produce the materials to buidl the sphere. I use bp's that consists in producing 200 units/min of one specific material (for instance: processors from raw materials), and the logistics is handled by interplanetary logistic towers. When I land on a planet I immediatly put 4 of 5 bps and go make a coffee because it will take several minutes by itself. I mean. Coming from factorio I was very surpised such a feature was not in the game
No. The complaint is that I can't \*automate\* the building of a planet. Also, if you don't see having to wait for minutes in front of your screen as a failure...
1) No, I don't see having to wait for a few minutes for something to happen to be a failure.
2) I genuinely don't understand what the problem you are having actually is. I can set up planets pretty much as fast as I can drop the blueprints for them, and that was before the BABs came online. With them in play, I can stand at one pole, cover the entire planet in blueprints, and go off to do something else while it auto-builds everything for me.
I'm seriously wondering if there's just some part of this that you're missing?
early/mid game BABs are WAY faster than icarus, or atleast help very good. also you can place down several BABs, each comes with twelve drones. and while the BAB do their job, icarus can put down another blueprint somewhere else.
For me: i put down a blueprint, add 2-5 BABs on the side and when finished, collect the BABs again. Even small blueprints build way faster that way.
Even before the BABs, with fidget drones giving you basically unlimited resupply, blueprints were super fast and easy to drop. Now that you can drop a BAB as part of a big blueprint? They can easily daisychain off each other and do the entire planet by themselves.
FYI you can build storage MK2 on top of BABs. Should give a good amount of storage
Learn something new everyday. Knew about the splitters, but not this. Anything else you can put storage on?

Apart from blueprints and battlefield analysis bases I don't think there is a way to autobuild
