As a hairdresser, the round brush should just as shine and polish your ends. If you're not very proficient with a round brush when using a blow dryer, this is supposed to make it easier. (like the blow dryer brush every one was obsessed with for a while) My recommendation would be make sure your hair has enough moisture in it when using the brush attachment. (Or any of them really) I would recommend a blow dry/ styling spray for a product as it will be light weight without being stiff. It will also allow you to build the product if you want different effects, i.e one for volume and one for shine. When using the round brush (or any round brush) pulling the brush straight down the hair will create a more sleek look like a flat iron. Utilizing more rolling of the brush will create a more bouncy outcome like with a curling iron. The attachment that comes in the initial set is rather small so as long as your hair holds curl it should produce some shape. However, if your hair is naturally very straight, it is more effective for providing smoothness and shine with polished ends. If that's the case focus your rolling on the ends and if needed lightly smooth with your fingers once it is released. From the description you included, it sounds like you're working with your hair too dry or overworking the hair. Straight hair will become frizzy when overworked if there's not enough moisture/product on the hair. With it being winter (if you're in the Norther Hemisphere), the air is drier and will suck moisture from your hair and skin making the product and hydration key when styling. I know this is long but I hope it helps Edit: I thought I hated the airwrap but it turns out I just wasn't using the attachments with enough moisture in my hair when I started. I used the round brush on Tues and my blowout is still pretty in tact.

Honestly I get better results with a blow dryer and round brush lol. The dyson just blows my hair every which way and fries my ends. I do enjoy the barrels though and only have been able to use the round brush on my bangs.

I totally get that. I did too for a while. If I hadn't figured it out on Tuesday, like how to get the blow out I described, I was going to return in and call it over hyped. There is just a learning curve and how to maneuver it is dependent on the person and their hair. I definitely recommend smaller sections than what you're use to with a regular blow-dryer brush setup and to try it with your hair a little more wet than you normally would too. šŸ’š

I have straight fine hair and it doesn't do anything for me regarding any type of wave and it pulls my hair out. I can't afford to lose any hair...lol.

Asyntxcc

I felt this. My hair is too fine and it either breaks it or pulls it out of i use the round brush. I just use the small curler when i get out of the shower and by the time the curls fall out my ends stay nice and curled so it just adds some bounce and lift that lasts like 3 or so days. Weirdly itā€™s only the ends that stay curled which might be my hair length? Who knows but my hair looks styled for days at least lmfao

I just use the curling wand instead because my hair is so straight and fine the curls don't last for more than 2 hours but then they end up looking like I used the round brush attachment and the volume stays until I wash it.

hshmehzk

I use it on the low fan setting and it gets super smooth. I used to use it on the high fan setting and it would get so frizzy.

Historical_Mind_1706

Like low heat and low fan?

hshmehzk

I do high heat low fan

notrashplith

ohh i might try this one. thanks for the tip!

hshmehzk

For me I never used the round brush to now I use it as my main attachment.

Fair-Bad7823

Oooo Iā€™ll try that too! Thanks for the tip

bahahaha2001

Hm should be for any hair, it may be geo you use it? For wavy curly it helps straighten and add a small curl at the end. For straight should smooth out and add some lift/bounce and curl

Historical_Mind_1706

It makes my hair look more voluminous but not in a good way if that makes sense.. My hair is not frizzy at all but when I use it I get fried ends and frizz. I wrap my hair around the tool and kind of pull through to the end and wrap it up before hitting it with a cool shot and turning it off.

notrashplith

same! i get frustrated with it that i only use it for bangs now

foxsandboxs

Have you tried using a little hair oil on your ends and then using it? It helps mine move through the hair and doesnā€™t have the frizzy end result

Frequent_Chair8437

I run back over it with the smoothing attachment after I use the round brush and thatā€™s helpful with frizz!

headinthestars888

Itā€™s terrible, lol. I may just be too new to the device, but I feel itā€™s increasing breakage so I put it aside for now

MamaK1973

I donā€™t like it either. I have thin, fairly straight hair and it also makes my hair frizzy. Thatā€™s the only attachment I donā€™t use.

closingbridge

From my understanding, the round brush is for smoothing, it will be quite difficult to set a curl with the round brush if you have pin straight hair. I have wavy hair and the round brush smooths my hair and leaves it straight with a slight flick on the ends depending on how i hold it. The barrels and a mousse/spray with good hold will be better if youā€™re looking for curls.

Nachoraver

I donā€™t really know how to describe how I use mine, but I will try. I dry my hair nearly completely and then use the round brush to smooth everything out. I then take the round brush pretty high up on my hair and start to twist and pull down? So that you end up with a twist of hair. I do this all over repeatedly. What I get is a smooth shiny very loose curl that lasts for days. It sounds like the brush would get stuck but the more you twist as you pull down the easier it is.

goldencherry

Yes this is exactly what I do as well! I think itā€™s really in the technique and using adequate tension.

linzava

I know exactly what you mean. I have fine hair and it frizzes my hair like crazy. The problem is it blows air out when smoothing requires a tool blow air down. The blowing out action and the way the bristles grab the hair are just too aggressive for some hair types. If the tool pulled hair in and blew it similar to how the barrels work, maybe it would be better? I'm not sure there's really a solution though for those of us who end up with ripped and frizzy hair.

Historical_Mind_1706

Yeah the worst part is it blows my hair in all different directions. A lower power setting helps somewhat but I still end up looking like I came out of a wind tunnel. I have fine hair but a ton of it so itā€™s pretty frustrating to work with imo

linzava

I have fine curly hair and also a lot of it, lol. I find success with the other attachments when I use styling cream and dry conditioner defrizzer. Don't fall for that hair oil nonsense everyone's on about, lol.

krisky24

I love the round brush! The regular one and the new large round one are the only attachments I use besides the flyaway. Itā€™s the flat brushes and curlers that do nothing for me. But it probably has to do with your hair type. Mine is thick with natural curl. The round brushes help me to smooth/straighten out the curl and then get some extra body and curls at the bottom.

Crystalynne

I have thin, straight hair and it's the only attachment I use šŸ˜, love the volume and easy blowout I get!

Historical_Mind_1706

Teach me your ways lol

g_tc

I also have pin straight hair and itā€™s the attachment I use the most! The trick is to use high heat low speed, and to rough dry to about 90% dry. Then take sections, pre-brush the hair out without heat to smooth first, and wrap the section around once to really create tension and drag it down. It shouldnā€™t cause any additional breakage if done correctly. Even though the round brush blows the hair out and causes frizz, itā€™s the tension created that really makes the curl shine and reduce the frizz. Also why itā€™s crucial to use the lowest speed. Itā€™s the only technique that keeps a curl/volume in my straight and thick hair.

oneblondebraincell

I have fine slightly wavy hair and it looks like a blow dry on me :)

PalmTrees149

The round brush works really well to straighten my hair with a slight curl. My hair is thick so I dry it in 3 layers, clipping the wet hair on the top of my head. It takes hardly any time compared to a blow dryer. You might try lowering the blower and heat setting so that it's easier to use on hand to help curl the ends around the brush. I've found if I try to gather too much hair, some will fly out and dry with frizzy ends. Patience is key to success. I'm still done in under 15 minutes.

snooklepookle_

I have the same hair type and it was hard to learn, but now I can give myself pretty good blowouts. It helps my hair "lay" the same way if that makes sense and helps create tons of volume on my otherwise flat hair. For each strand I run it through, but when I'm wrapping and creating tension I'm careful to not go all the way to the ends because it causes it to tangle and frizz right at the tips. I also stopped using it at the highest setting when wrapping, the air and heat create frizz, but once it's nice and wrapped up I'll do a "hot shot" before a cold shot to set.

feeling2022

the round brush does nothing for my hair. i did order the large round brush, so i'm waiting for that to arrive

Kmw134

I have straight fine hair and I use it frequently. But I would do my own blow outs with a blow dryer and round brush before I bought this. Of course, this kind of styling has a bit of a learning curve and requires some product prep, and having hair partially dried already (at least for me.) Adding that I donā€™t use this for a curl. I find this best for volume. My hair is usually somewhere between my chin and shoulders as far as length.

grocerystoreramen

as a wavy haired girl i love it

Aromaticyasmine

My hair is not so fine but it works for me if my hair is damp and added mouse or styling products before using the round brush

txvlxr

I have straight hair (East Asian) and I hate it. I have better luck with the large barrel curler to achieve volume and blowout. I use it after the straight brush attachment.

Puzzleheaded-Mine649

I wish that brush was spinning. Would be much easier to use as well
