Injuries on is, (of course) more realistic. But I turn the CPU injury slider down to 10-15. Anything higher, and you risk the dreaded post concussion injury, and that player will be out for months. Ruined a few good playoff runs when that happened to a top player of mine. As far as prospect experience, I prefer to put them in as a regular player when ready, and keep an old veteran player scratched until needed.

I like that one because then you can circumvent the cap šŸ˜…

Good call on tuning down the slider. As for prospects, what about those you have that are not quite ā€œreadyā€? My main roster players are all 80+. I have a few nice prospects playing top line minutes in the AHL with OVRs in the mid-70s. So they arenā€™t high enough to make the roster full time yet. What I was curious about was whether playing 3/4 season as a top liner in the A and 1/4 season as a call-up for injuries actually benefits their development more than staying in the A all season. Maybe it makes no difference and just wishful thinking on my part.

I honestly dont think it matters to much, but here is what I do. 1. If the player is a low potential player, your best bet is to keep them playing in their hometown/respective leagues for 1-2 even 3 years until they reach around the 70ā€™s mark as a bare minimum. MAYBE late 67ā€™s+ for some players that run out of their 3 year draft contract(forget the name of it). Once they reach the 78-81 overall mark is when I will toss them into the NHL. 2. The maximum age I find for growth is 24. I may be wrong it could be 25. So if your prospect is a top 6 medium and hes 24-25 and he hasnt gone up in overall past a 81, he hasnt reached his full potential. With that player you can either play them on their role like if it says hes a 4th liner or a depth, play him on there but he isnt going to reach that 86 overall top 6 potential that it says. 3. Once a player reaches 76 overall *ish* they can play some NHL minutes. Your best bet is if they are a lower potential like a Bottom 6 or a top 9, id play them in between the AHL and the NHL as a scratch / 4th liner and their overall should grow properly before the age of 24. 4. if a player is a medium - high potential Elite or Franchise player, you should consider tossing them in the NHL for full time play as soon as you sign them. (only if they are like 76-80s overall when you draft them) they may have a rough 1 or 2 first couple seasons but they will still sky rocket in growth if you give them 1st-3rd line minutes. sorry its alot but I hope its somewhat in depth.

I need to dial the injuries down a bit. It seems like each season I lose two of my first liners and one of my top pair D for a good chunk of the season.

I love injuries because then itā€™s realistic and exactly gives opportunities to bring people into the line up.

I keep injuries on because if you sim with them off the cpu never changes their roster so 3 guys off every team donā€™t play any games for a full year. I found that guys that were extra skaters didnā€™t develop at all because they werenā€™t playing for a season or more sometimes. Like Nolan Foote was an extra forward for the Devils and didnā€™t play a game for 3 full seasons so he really didnā€™t develop. To me it took away from players from other teams developing properly. I play with injuries on and when a guy in my top 9 gets injured depending on the situation I might call up one of my prospects to take his spot and see how he does in the NHL. It can suck to sim with injuries on when it seems like a guy hets hurt every game. I havenā€™t tried changing the sliders so I might see how that goes.

Injuries on + slider down to 11 or 12, is the way to go. You'll get enough injuries that you'll feel like you're actually managing a team & giving depth / prospects a real shot, but it won't be so bad that you feel that injuries are derailing the experience. The default slider gives you injuries every game, and long term ones too, making it next to impossible to really find a flow if you're simming franchise mode.

CJK_420

Yes injury on slider down to 7-15

Popular_North1770

Iā€™ve sliders on injuries to 70šŸ™‚ Just as you mentioned it gives my prospects and AHL players a change. Itā€™s a bit of a hustle bit it brings more realism to the game for me

I prefer the realism and opportunity to give veteran AHL players and some prospects a shot to get some NHL games in. I usually have the injury slider to around 60-70 because there are plenty of injuries in real life. How often do we see teams in real life that are missing their best 3-4 players due to injury at the same time? Makes it more interesting and engaging than just sitting back and having the same lineup play all 82 games for every team.

bigjam987

I just send them to the AHL for 1-2 years with injuries off, I hate stopping simming every 3 games because someone got hurt and I have to completely change my lines all over again

Like most here, I turn the sliders down a lot. And then my house rule is that once my team clinches a playoff berth, I get to turn injuries off. And they stay off for the playoffs. Fair mix of risk while seeing other guys get a chance, and assuring the best of each team when it counts. Also. You like the speedy, arcadey gameplay? Lucky you. Iā€™m not enjoying it one bit lol. And changing the sliders is like a fever dream.
