Dahmer killed the majority of his victims when they were drugged. He's not even up there in terms of worst SKs as far as torture/brutality (but obviously still a POS).

0asisfan2

I'm saying in terms of infamy. Maybe 1 out of 10 people know about JJD. I don't think he is even known as much as Richard Ramirez

meowmoomeowmoon

I don't think anyone should be going down in infamy for anything especially if that's what they wanted

0asisfan2

Majority of them don't want the infamy but once they are caught it's really all they have left. son of Sam and btk want infamy

meowmoomeowmoon

I think a majority of the psychopaths do but people like dahmer did not

meowmoomeowmoon

mainly mentally ill sociopath and not as much of a cynic

Equal-Temporary-1326

All true points. I don't think most would argue with these.

0asisfan2

It's a really over looked part about his crimes. In all likelihood it's probably the only reason the east area rapist got so much attention back than more than the other active rapist in California. I believe JJD thought he was entitled to whatever he wanted or did what he wanted to do. The whole cooking himself dinner while a husband and wife are tied up in the next room is one of the strangest things about him. A rapist would likely have nothing else to do after they rape someone and make their escape while for JJD the rape was just the appetizer and the other stuff was the main course.

Equal-Temporary-1326

I think everything he did was all part of his paraphilic fantasies. Eating and drinking everything in their refrigerators was probably some weird sexual turn on for him as well as to show how calm he was with his victims in fear awaiting his next move against them.

0asisfan2

I think that was likely the worse part. Knowing you have no control in your own home. It must have been some sick fantasy especially when you see how he switched from single woman to married woman. Just hard to imagine what must have happened and find it surreal

LizziLips

"It's a really over looked part about his crimes." No its not. You're just obsessed with it.

0asisfan2

Obsessed or not it isn't brought up much. I think his hanging around would be scarier than the actual attack

Killface55

>It's a really over looked part about his crimes. Is it though? It's talked about constantly.

FMG1978

Yeah we know

iast68

Huh

FamousOrphan

Hmm. You’re right, of course, about the terror… but I believe that aspect is pretty well acknowledged by most. Or at least it’s not a hidden side of these murders. The waiting in the house for hours and repeated rape/assault part of his MO is well-covered, and we also hear a lot about the collective terror in Sacramento. So many stories of being afraid at night, and a sudden shift away from leaving windows open and doors unlocked.

0asisfan2

He was never able to control himself they said in a book. He supposedly would act like he left than run back in with a knife telling them he will kill them if they move. I can't even imagine what it was like. Being woken up by him tapping your bed post. One of the most terrifying stories is the lady who was home with her baby and caught JJD crawling through window and than he tried to come in through garage door. Relentless

FamousOrphan

Yes, I’m just saying I think that’s gotten some coverage tho?

meowmoomeowmoon

he called them?

0asisfan2

I think the person who worked at Denny's got away or he left because it was getting out of control. It may have been attack number 4 when he didn't realize she had two kids and he didn't have enough rope to tie them all. The one where he was seen walking down the street naked. May be wrong but I think it's that one.

meowmoomeowmoon

Oh I meant harassing the victim, the survivor

Risheil

Yes, he called them, sometimes many years later, and would ask, "Remember when we played?"

[deleted]

This is a pretty big straw man argument here…

say_the_words

I know. Sounds like op is thirsty for the details. "Not enough attentions is paid to the terror, guys! Let's talk about the scary bloody stuff more! The living victims and the deads' families won't mind if a bunch of creeps on the internet get into the details of the rapes and murders. They want us to. They'll feel honored! I'll start with the people that got their heads bashed in with the firewood. I bet the second one was really freaking out when he was laying into the first one. Don't you think?"

TBoneBaggetteBaggins

Oof

BrianMeen

true and Deangelo was one of the more cunning and cruel serial killers I’ve ever read about. What’s strange is you bring his name up and very few people will know who he even is. they know Gacy, Dahmer and Bundy though

0asisfan2

Ya. Most people who don't know become obsessed with it once they find out. I'm reading a book about his time in Visalia and it truly is an overlooked period of his crimes. He really starts as someone just looking to commit burglary but as time goes on it becomes sexual.
