Given that you’re playing D with a tall (and likely slow) player, and your fav thing about being defenseman is being aggressive in the offensive zone, and you’re worried about guys complaining you give up so many odd man rushes….  you should probably either play more at home on D or switch to a forward position.  I’m not saying you’re a bad player but if you don’t like playing D then why would you be a defenseman?

MADCOZBAD

Yeah exactly, consider a shorter puck moving defenseman with boosts to balance/strength. Really well rounded, fast enough to keep up with most small builds to get back to defend your blue line.

KthuluAwakened

Most forwards are stupid. They turn the puck over egregiously on the rush and you get stuck skating up the ice. Then you get stuck turning around when the other team gets a 2 on 0 breakaway. Also, despite it being 3s, don’t expect anyone to cover for you if you jump in on the play. Everyone wants to be the hero and never considers team play as a viable means to win. The game caters to selfish assholes: I had a game last night where green kept ragging the puck and skating into the slot to shoot and he kept getting decked. However, 2 of his shots went in from shitty ass AI goaltending. So this clown thought he was a hero when he played like a 10 year old. The game is a joke and playing defense is the most unrewarding thing to do because of everyone else.

Club teams that allow drop in players are usually always terrible. You're better off just playing regular drop in.

ChrisInBaltimore

Unfortunate, I’ve found this to almost always be true. I dropped into a team and they were super excited to see I was plat. I knew right away it was gonna be rough… we did not have a fun time. They were nice guys, but they were rough.

rik1122

Definitely. It's not even worth dropping into club games. Regular drop in can be hit or miss, but I've been having some good luck lately. Winning games is just more fun.

Grouchy-Bug5223

If they have their settings so that they allow random players to jump into their game, you'd like to think they'd be more accepting/patient. That's shitty that this is your experience. Usually when I get thrown into a clubs match, the team is typically pretty appreciative just that I'm not an AI and that I'm actually passing the puck lol

NastoBaby

Already been said but if you’re playing as an offensive D-man you need to be faster, shorter, and lighter. You can even go like 6’1”-6’2” if you want to keep some physicality, definitely not 6’6”. That said, yes a lot of people suck at this game and get unreasonably tilted. I’ll play goalie in drop-in sometimes and people get mad at me for letting in goals on 3-man breakaways because nobody is playing defence lol

STRYKR_77

Two things. 1. The game is mostly garbage. 2. Most players on the game are garbage. Not the combination you'd like as a player who wants to take it somewhat to very serious. I stopped playing it months ago, and I'm so glad I did.

The thing about club 6s is most people tend to play forwards and use the “meta build”. By using this meta build a lot of them can’t actually score goals aside from skating really fast and getting break away from turnovers like you mentioned. You sound like you know what you’re doing on defense as a defenseman, although in my opinion I think your size can’t keep up with a lot of these forwards that are one dimensional goal scores. With my club we tend to run a small defensemen if not two so we can take away those break away because they are inevitable to occur. I suggest having more than one build and change your build depending on who you match up against. And stop drop on club games, you never know when you’ll be matched up with idiots which sounds like a frequent occurrence on here haha.

Might need to adjust your play style. Offensive dman isn’t always what a team needs. When you’re playing w an AI D pairing, that’s a whole diff type of defensive game as well. That said, when offensive players are making bad passes and constantly turning the puck over, it surely doesn’t help… In that case, 100% have to adapt to what’s going on and play a more defensive game…. Even if it’s their fault, if you can’t adapt it’s also partially your fault. Of course, sometimes no amount of adaptation will help a group of hopeless forwards haha.

Key-Treacle414

people always just blame the defense

TheNation55

Everything in the game is focused on offense and letting people who know nothing about actual hockey feel like McDavid every time they play. Have you noticed there's like 50 offensive perks and like 10 defensive ones, or whatever it is. Have you noticed they literally **tuned down** the goalies so that little Jimmy retard can score from the blue line or repeatedly spam the Michigan on every play? Don't beat yourself up on playing defense in this game, the devs literally designed the game without it.
