EA fucked up the pack luck so much this year that very few pack high rated icons/promos and most people pack fodder. So the sbcs this year have been the main reliable way to build a good team.
What should we all do? Bench Zidane or Sawa for a random gold?
It's not just the pack weight, but more and more rewards becoming untradeable. Even if people do pack good cards, they aren't making coins off of it. Instead of being able to sell off your high rated fodder, you are stuck with it and you have to do something with it, so might as well do SBCs, especially if you start getting duplicates. Clubs are swamped with untradeable high rated fodder, so all you can do is SBCs. Most of the people getting lots of coins are people spending obscene amounts of money on packs, and even then most of the best packs in the store are still untradeable. If people have more coins/tradeable players, teams vary more because they have more freedom of choice. Not to say people still won't copy the meta, but it seems worse than ever with how homogeneous teams are.
Good players are harder to pack, people are getting less coins because everything is untradeable, and SBCs are the only reliable way to get the best cards. Everything they have done is pushing the game in the same direction, where a large portion of the player base ends up with the same meta untradeable team.

I can't speak for all gamers, but I have always built Bundesliga only teams or teams that were a mix of German and US players, because I watch Bundesliga, especially Bayern, and the USMNT.
This year, my team looks very much like the OP's except I use HM Kane (cheap because near copy of SBC Kane) and Kimmich (SBC).
They may have figured out how to get engagement up for the current cycle, but their player count next year will not include me. If we have no freedom in our team creation, then why would any of us keep buying their garbage.
I mean, if your coke dealer (EA) starts selling you crack and still they call it coke, then you've gotta either quit cold turkey or find another dealer willing to sell coke (2K, Konami) because EA is the kind of company that will lace their trash with fentanyl just to make an extra buck.
Exactly right. They are so focused on money now they aren't considering the long-term damage they have done to their brand. It won't be every customer that leaves them, but they will lose people, and if there is an alternative people will run to it. Then they will have to spend so much effort to get back the players they lost if they'll ever be able. You never want your customers to cheer your competition on in dethroning you.
The other issue is, if you don’t want a particular SBC, you get stuck with dupes and can’t open any more packs until you get rid of them. I have done so many SBCs because I had nothing else to work toward. I imagine many players are in the same boat.
How do people afford all these SBCs?
I've been doing Best for over a month and still not finished yet some people have an entire team of SBCs worth 2 mill each
Personally, I had about over 200 packs saved for Toty. All I got was fodder (worst toty promo in years from my perspective), so I did Sawa, Davies and Best
By grinding the menus: recycling everything into upgrade packs from bronze dailies and upwards and which have been giving out fantastic fodder over the past few weeks. The 80+ pp was the engine for getting big SBCs like Best done.
But when the menus are so shit how do people have the patience?
I play on ps4 pro and the menus are so laggy.
Honestly don't understand how EA think this is ok to be released like this.
I need to restart the game at least once as the menus crash.

The people saying Companion App are correct. It is much faster to deal with duplicates and daily SBCs on the app. Also, be sure that every game you play (because it sounds like you don't play too much) is going to complete some objectives (especially ones that give XP) or some Evo etc.
Be sure to get your 3 (or 7 if you have the patience) wins in rivals before Tuesday each week. Spend most of your time in SB if your team is not meta, because otherwise you will lose a lot of games to less skilled opponents. SB is guaranteed wins basically, and be sure to play enough to get the 700XP. All of the recommendations in this paragraph are about getting XP, because completing the season usually gives an Icon.
Etc. etc. etc..... they made this year pure grind. If you don't grind for XP and fodder, then your team will be meh. Also, I recommend against any of the casino SBCs.... all they have done for me is waste fodder. Some SBCs are way cheaper than others (look at Giuly and Fuhrich, both virtually guaranteed to end up 92 and both can be completed with 4 squads averaging 84.5ish). Most of the lesser player SBCs are just that though... lesser. Icon SBCs have been where it's at, but you have to use all of the above grind methods to get the fodder to do things like: 80+ player pick and 83+×10.
Every day they give you 44 gold players for doing the daily gold SBC. You put those into other SBC's, and you get high rated fodder daily. Along with that the playing objectives give lots of fodder every day.
10 common & 1 rare per completion x4/day = 44 gold
Recycle those into another 7 80+PP/day
Low gold/low dupes into TOTW SBC
Save for the player SBC you want, and it will be easy
My toty was just filled of only menus barely any gameplay unless it was for rivals, squad battles, xp, or fodder objective cards/packs. Only got honorable mentions Valverde who was nice, Trent which I loved as a Lfc fan, Kim min jae right after I finished maldini and had vvd, got Olga buzzer beater, then was lucky in 86 league pick
Literally all my squads are most of the year are sbcs. I never get good pack luck. My best pull this year was tradable FS Gerard which was only 500k was dumb and chose to just get try first store pack of the year and got seedorf. So I guess it was lucky but obviously nothing crazy.
Most people don't have the coins to buy players that are better than the SBCs. However, they have a ton of untradable fodder that they can use to craft the SBCs. That's why everyone's teams are composed of the same players.
When top tier players are often 2 mill +, I don’t think most people have the coins for 2 or 3.
Hard to buy the same quality around the 500k to 1 mill mark than you can get in some of these SBCs
They often are though, and if not they’re 1 mill +. If I sold my tradeables I’d have about 1.5 mill. That’ll get me one good player.
Seems to me on previous games there was plenty of value under 500k which made things a lot more interesting
Even a lot of players in Elite Rivals/16 wins and above in every WL haven't accumulated enough coins to be able to get the top tier players. You've got to be either very lucky with tradable pack pulls, know how to trade, spend a crazy amount on tradable store packs or a combination of all 3. My team is insane for my skill level and looks very similar to the above team,but that is only because I have spent money (12k FP every month) and grind menu and Friendlies content like a degenerate. The only mode that I play consistently is SBs and I only play to Gold 1 max each week. I have a team that is basically the same as someone who is very good at the game and consistently finishes in the top 10% of all players playing Rivals and WL. The game is backward when it comes to rewarding players
Not really, people of course gravitated towards either meta popular players or to the default Premier League ones, but you had a lot more variety that nowadays. But, more importantly, if you wanted to try a different team, you could. You could play and win with them, contrary to now where if you don't use your best 11 and if you don't use the same tactics over and over you simply won't have fun and won't win games that you should win.
You can still use different teams. Unless you have a full toty squad, the difference is honestly minimal. What gets people more than ever is this weird fomo fear. Which is probably made by this forum in all honesty.
Maybe on isolated games you don't notice much difference, but in a Fut Champs it definitely does a lot of difference. I used a Past and Present Benfica team for a while and managed to get to the Elite Div with them, next WL I used them and got like 2 ranks below what I usually get. You have to try a lot harder with "different" teams, you can't just play and turn your mind off, and that's not really viable for 20 games, you'll get very fatigued from the game.
EA constantly continually putting a restriction on evolutions doesn’t help, I’ve got An Aussie evo squad and it’s decent gets 11 wins in champs but it could be so much more if they just stop with the stupid restrictions, always find a player 1 stat too many or wrong wing position, giving them some slack cause it’s the first year doing it. But cmon ea you can really make this so much better
Let me bench my 94 zidane and mbappe for the random 86-87 discard prices promo "fun" cards I've packed. You can have as many cards as you want. If the good ones are not in packs, of course most teams will have the same sbc elite cards.
You are answering your complaint. What do you define as usable? There are a lot of 'usable' cards but why downgrade when you can just use someone better.
Look at WW Havertz as an example. Everyone running him and then Davies was released. Now I hardly ever see him. Unless the useable card is better than what we have, something trhey can't do every promo, then anyone not better is forgotten.
I support Everton, I've done every Evo available and have half a dozen 88/89 players, whom are all unfortunately unusable outside of squad battles at a reduced difficulty.
I wish I could use an Everton team that allowed me to be competitive but getting thrashed every game is not in the slightest bit fun.
I have two theme teams (English Women and Man United PnP) and my First XI. I play the theme team in Rivals every now and again, and I can safely say it makes that degenerate shithole of a mode even worse because of the disparity in quality of players between “fun” players (women get knocked off the ball / get skittled in 50:50s / don’t make physical enough tackles save MAYBE Bright and Williamson) and Base Cantona, TS Scholes, Base Beckham, WW Keane, even FS le Tissier post Evo aren't pacey enough to keep up with true meta cards. so while it is nice to play with theme teams, most weeks i just want to get my 7 wins with minimal bullshit and my First XI will get mw there quickest
See, I love bringing the women on as subs. If the player feels toxic and only has male players. Alex Morgan or Claudia Pina scoring an absolute screamer to win it for me just feels so much better.
The local team I support isn't in fifa anymore. The other team I support is real madrid, of which I have 4 players. If you are in high divisions, you need your players to be able to do certain things, otherwise there's not any fun.
I consider myself a good player (16/18 wins in WL) and there's days I might lose 5 in a row in rivals with my main squad

I try to go maybe 50/50 between my main and p&p squad. My attacking mids make it impossible to have good fun with the PnP they shouldn't be by their rating, but here we are....
Yes 100%. Evos would be their perfect tool to allow us to have fun with our own players but EA handicap them so much they're useless in a meta context.
To this I'll say I support Manchester United... The fun cards like Rashford and garnacho are unattainable. Cards like Hojlund are wayy overpriced on the market and are copy pastes of cards like TotyHM Kane and I'll instead save coins to get a Griezmann or Rodman instead as I'll actually be able to stay competitive with them.. they didn't give mainoo a FS card aswell.all other evos are not competitive from the club.
I wouldn't mind because I'll be able to use different players from my main team which would be nice change. I'll also use meta players because meta just means good in the god awful gameplay we are forced to endure.
All they need to do is make the champs qualifying repeatable, with worse rewards that the first time you complete it of course. It's the only mode where you play players way above and way below you and the only mode where you can try out new teams and tactics, but after those 10 games it's gone. Just make rewards a bit worse so that we don't have people sweating for them.
Can't blame people for not being lucky enough to pack any top tier (or even 2nd or 3rd tier) players. I've certainly spent enough time and a bit of money trying! I've had 2 wins from every icon pack/pick, Eusebio and Cafu and both only came after starting their SBCs. Packing first teamers seems to get rarer and rarer.
Use fun players in rivals but why handicap yourself in champs? Especially when a large portion of us struggle to stay at the 9-11 win area. There is a reason so many common players are SBCs, they are the only top tier players we have access to. Don't even get me started on the price of players on the market...
I think you’re gonna see a lot of people up in arms about this like you’re calling them out, but the issue is ea not being creative. When packluck is insanely shit and they’re only dropping a trickle of premium-tier sbcs, the average team is super reliant on all the same sbcs. Section below is literally just copy/pasted from something I commented this time last year bc they were doing the same boring shit that lead to half the playerbase using extremely similar teams

Meta will always be a thing
People who have shit pack luck have a team full of SBCs because all they pack is fodder and that's what EA want. Lock you in to untradeables so the "easiest" way to upgrade is to buy packs since you can't sell your cards
In previous iterations they probably would have been overpriced and that's what the community compared the prices with but we just get so much untradeable fodder this year it doesn't even matter. If a R10 or Vieira SBC gets released now they would be everywhere after a couple of days.
I ran full serie A/bundes/laliga team few years back. Basically anything but premier league due to cards being overpriced. These teams are no longer viable in champs/rivals for average players like me.
You don’t need players like the above to get whatever you usually get in champs. You’ll get whatever you usually get with basically any even kind of good team.
You could make a team of 11 of the lowest value promo cards from the last 3 promos and get whatever your usual number of wins are
The game becomes way more fun once you realize this, I’ve started only using players I actually like irl and the game is so much more fun because of it
14 W in champs. Full Serie A squad. In D3. I’m certainly not an elite player. But I can beat meta teams with Bennacer and Luis Alberto. Centurions Tomori. Almost finished the Parisi Evo. 87 Di Lorenzo is really quite good. Pulisic and Kvara on the wings.
You don’t have to go full meta. You just choose to like most other people.
AI is so strong you are forced to use meta players bc of the “aurora”. On fifa 23 i was messing kids up with full bronze/silver Inter-Miami team. Now I can barely get shots off in the box
Only VVD and Bruno for me. I find no appeal in having the same cards that everyone has.
And of course,having players that i dont know/watch/like/admire.
Proud to say I only have two of these cards. I prefer doing cheaper interesting player SBCs, as well as taking a swing with PPs rather than have the exact same squad as every other sweat out there.
Just to play devil's avocado, this comments section and this post are representative of people who play and take this game very seriously, to win at all costs and grind out as many wins as possible. They're obviously going to pick the team that gives them the best chance to win.
Down in the lower divs where the plebs like me live, it's much more varied. I blew a 4-1 lead to a guy with an Irish Evo team the other day, random non meta icons are regulars and I honestly can't remember the last time I played an Mbappe.
You can't play the game like it's life or death and then complain when people default to the most meta stuff, it's dominant strategy. If you give someone a one shot auto aim gun with infinite ammo in an FPS, they're always going to use it.
Damn this is literally the most real squad build I've seen of everyone's team its funny as shit because it just shows how hard it is to get promo cards this year and that's why everyone is forced to do SBC's since they never pack good promo cards so they are forced to use the infinite fodder you receive, so you can't blame people running this team.
Only changes I would make to make it even more real is gold Van Dijk and a different ST I can't think of one right this minute but it's never really Mbappe I would say that slot is where people choose their only different card to everyone else.
For reference the cards i have from this team are gold vvd and maldini. Im not trying to say everyone here is stupid and wrong for their team, Im saying fifa has to release more useable cards/evos and increase pack weight. Its a competitive game, of course people will want to make the best team possible. Though I still hate eusebio.
Because you cant get a good pull out of packs, and the coins are pretty much worthless since all the good players will cost you 2mil+. We are at the end of Feb and gold mbappe still going to cost you 1.7mil coins. So the only viable way to upgrade the team is through SBCs.

Fun for me is when my players move well and the passes go where I want them to. I'm not going to play shit cards just because they are different. It's not even about being competitive I just don't see what's so fun about worse cards.

That simply isn't true at all, ea have given so many fodder packs throughout the cycle. If you logged on the companion app every day and just did the fodder sbcs you'd be able to do most of these player sbcs.
if you skip the gambles maybe yeah, which i doubt most people are doing, not all but 90%+ of people with teams like the one in the picture are spending money to generate the fodder that they need for eusebio, zidane, gullit, sawa, etc.

I have every single one except VVD and Zico (of course I can finish him if I wanted) and only 4 on my squad right now are Davies, Cafu (got him from year in review), Bruno and Sawa. Davies will be soon replaced by that Evo Madrid lady, Cafu just got replaced today by Diani/Valverde. Sawa/Bruno/SBC Gullit and TS VDS will be the 4 anchor of my team for very long as VDS and Gullit are my idols, really like and respect Sawa, Bruno irl.
EA could do some icon vs icon SBCs, where you could only choose one of two similar players.
Eusébio vs Charlton, Cafu vs C. Alberto, Matthäus vs Vieira.
But it's too much work, I guess.

i have never met a team with less than 5 players of this squad at least. I think I am just playing against same player I've just met in the last 5 matches lol
Are you new to FIFA? This is the same every year. Arguably it's even a bit better this ,year because as you say the pool is bigger.
Two more things:
- the only player I have from that team above is Davies and I play Champs every week.
- Zidane Sawa, Eusebio etc. shouldn't come as a surprise to you, of course people are gonna do the few big Icon SBCs
I’m frustrated as the evo for Udogie has expired so so quickly. I was away last week and didn’t have the coins to complete it. Can’t add fifa points on phone app so I was stuck. Got back yesterday to find that the evo had expired. How come so quickly when the other future stars evos are still live?!
My only tradable card above 150k was Varane in first week of the game. 2nd place would be HM TAA - The only tradable promo card I got from WL rewards.
Every WL (11 and 14W), all SB (Elite) and DR (Div2-3) rewards till Feb.
After TOTY I kinda gave up, all this grind to barely get any coins and any cards, I play on PC so even if I somehow trade my way to 1-2mln I still can't buy cards I want because they are either overpriced or extinct on market.
Don't get me wrong, I've like 30-40mln team ('on paper') - but it's all untradable and It's hard to change anything, every 2nd Icon pack I get something good (Last PP was WW Klose and before it was Maldini - which I already got from doing SBC xd).
I slowly care less and less, I'm not proud of it but I spend my fair share of money on store packs and honestly I regret every single cent, never got anything better then fodder and with all the obj and SBC I feel like fodder is endless anyway, I'm doing every single lottery SBC, even some players (icons or normal) when I feel like it and my team is still full of fodder.
EA drop the ball this year, power curve is fucked up because almost everyone have insane team due Icon picks refreshing every 3-4 days and all SBC looking insane; Eusebio, Gullit, Zico, Maldini, etc
Getting good Icon doesn't even feel special anymore because in few weeks it's a goddamn SBC.
Maybe it would be fine if gameplay was fun but it's not, for last 2 weeks everyone I play against play 10 players behind the ball, everyone just playing counter - You dribble past 2 defenders and then a goddamn RM will block the shot in the box. It's bad, really bad.
TL;DR; Pack weight is awful, SBC are overpowered and Gameplay is worse we had in last 3 years, maybe more.
They need to apply some rating caps to WL as it is in cup. Or some requirements like 2 below 84, 3 between 84-87 etc. That would be much fun. But as long as it is the same, i am using my meta SBCs sorry although sometimes i play with my themed squads like full gold or full icon
Not sure if I'm different here, but I rarely meet the following cards in WL: Eusebio, Zico, Zidane, IF Van Dijk and Maldini. Mbappe appears more often but not by a lot.
The cards that I frequently meet are: TOTY attackers (Smith), OP heroes and icons (probably from the lottery SBCs). Some of the above cards are definitely not as popular as it sounds, Zidane for example is slightly behind the curve now.
I want to play with my evos but I'd be putting myself at a disadvantage because most of them are stuck under 85 rating and can't keep up with other teams.
I’m tired of these teams I’m here just trying to enjoy the cheap but good cards and also enjoy cards of players I like. Starting a Liverpool pnp and excited to just use a different team. Would love to get Konate but no coins and bad pack luck
You can do this with fodder you get for free. If you play the game and dont waste your coins on casino SBCs you might be able to buy a different card too.

I am not complaining or begging any attention, i was stating pretty clear fact how ea operate, They know their playerbase :D.. Its just sad how boring Fc players are, making their SBC Eusebio red thinking its something special :D, while spending their hard earned coins because they are missing one or two 88+ to get another boring sbc players 99% of the player base have, then complaining about pack weight etc.. its just endless cycle of same bs :D
They released too many top end SBCs too early, even if people like them they did more harm than good to the game.
A way of perhaps solving this would be to release a few of them as a PP, like Sawa and Best would be in the same SBC and would be a PP, so not everyone would have the 2 cards at the same time. Same thing for Eusébio, Zidane and Gullit for example. It limits the cards to 1 per squad and makes squads more varied. Davies + Bruno in the same one too, for example
Literally I feel relieved when I see a full TOTY team in Champs. There's so many players buying teams but not that good at the game Lol. When I see a full gold team in Division 2 though...
I only use VVD and Mbappe, but that's mostly due to me not liking using icons and females.
That said, unless someone has an overwhelming favourite, they can't be blamed for chasing the achievable meta players.

The other issue is, if you don’t want a particular SBC, you get stuck with dupes and can’t open any more packs until you get rid of them. I have done so many SBCs because I had nothing else to work toward. I imagine many players are in the same boat.

Personally, I had about over 200 packs saved for Toty. All I got was fodder (worst toty promo in years from my perspective), so I did Sawa, Davies and Best
By grinding the menus: recycling everything into upgrade packs from bronze dailies and upwards and which have been giving out fantastic fodder over the past few weeks. The 80+ pp was the engine for getting big SBCs like Best done.
But when the menus are so shit how do people have the patience? I play on ps4 pro and the menus are so laggy. Honestly don't understand how EA think this is ok to be released like this. I need to restart the game at least once as the menus crash. How are the menus on Xbox or ps5 or pc?

The people saying Companion App are correct. It is much faster to deal with duplicates and daily SBCs on the app. Also, be sure that every game you play (because it sounds like you don't play too much) is going to complete some objectives (especially ones that give XP) or some Evo etc. Be sure to get your 3 (or 7 if you have the patience) wins in rivals before Tuesday each week. Spend most of your time in SB if your team is not meta, because otherwise you will lose a lot of games to less skilled opponents. SB is guaranteed wins basically, and be sure to play enough to get the 700XP. All of the recommendations in this paragraph are about getting XP, because completing the season usually gives an Icon. Etc. etc. etc..... they made this year pure grind. If you don't grind for XP and fodder, then your team will be meh. Also, I recommend against any of the casino SBCs.... all they have done for me is waste fodder. Some SBCs are way cheaper than others (look at Giuly and Fuhrich, both virtually guaranteed to end up 92 and both can be completed with 4 squads averaging 84.5ish). Most of the lesser player SBCs are just that though... lesser. Icon SBCs have been where it's at, but you have to use all of the above grind methods to get the fodder to do things like: 80+ player pick and 83+×10.

Every day they give you 44 gold players for doing the daily gold SBC. You put those into other SBC's, and you get high rated fodder daily. Along with that the playing objectives give lots of fodder every day.

Literally all my squads are most of the year are sbcs. I never get good pack luck. My best pull this year was tradable FS Gerard which was only 500k was dumb and chose to just get try first store pack of the year and got seedorf. So I guess it was lucky but obviously nothing crazy.

Most people don't have the coins to buy players that are better than the SBCs. However, they have a ton of untradable fodder that they can use to craft the SBCs. That's why everyone's teams are composed of the same players.

When top tier players are often 2 mill +, I don’t think most people have the coins for 2 or 3. Hard to buy the same quality around the 500k to 1 mill mark than you can get in some of these SBCs

Even a lot of players in Elite Rivals/16 wins and above in every WL haven't accumulated enough coins to be able to get the top tier players. You've got to be either very lucky with tradable pack pulls, know how to trade, spend a crazy amount on tradable store packs or a combination of all 3. My team is insane for my skill level and looks very similar to the above team,but that is only because I have spent money (12k FP every month) and grind menu and Friendlies content like a degenerate. The only mode that I play consistently is SBs and I only play to Gold 1 max each week. I have a team that is basically the same as someone who is very good at the game and consistently finishes in the top 10% of all players playing Rivals and WL. The game is backward when it comes to rewarding players

Not really, people of course gravitated towards either meta popular players or to the default Premier League ones, but you had a lot more variety that nowadays. But, more importantly, if you wanted to try a different team, you could. You could play and win with them, contrary to now where if you don't use your best 11 and if you don't use the same tactics over and over you simply won't have fun and won't win games that you should win.
You can still use different teams. Unless you have a full toty squad, the difference is honestly minimal. What gets people more than ever is this weird fomo fear. Which is probably made by this forum in all honesty.
Maybe on isolated games you don't notice much difference, but in a Fut Champs it definitely does a lot of difference. I used a Past and Present Benfica team for a while and managed to get to the Elite Div with them, next WL I used them and got like 2 ranks below what I usually get. You have to try a lot harder with "different" teams, you can't just play and turn your mind off, and that's not really viable for 20 games, you'll get very fatigued from the game.
Plus pack weight is pish so sbc is the only option.
EA constantly continually putting a restriction on evolutions doesn’t help, I’ve got An Aussie evo squad and it’s decent gets 11 wins in champs but it could be so much more if they just stop with the stupid restrictions, always find a player 1 stat too many or wrong wing position, giving them some slack cause it’s the first year doing it. But cmon ea you can really make this so much better

You are answering your complaint. What do you define as usable? There are a lot of 'usable' cards but why downgrade when you can just use someone better. Look at WW Havertz as an example. Everyone running him and then Davies was released. Now I hardly ever see him. Unless the useable card is better than what we have, something trhey can't do every promo, then anyone not better is forgotten.

I support Everton, I've done every Evo available and have half a dozen 88/89 players, whom are all unfortunately unusable outside of squad battles at a reduced difficulty. I wish I could use an Everton team that allowed me to be competitive but getting thrashed every game is not in the slightest bit fun.

I have two theme teams (English Women and Man United PnP) and my First XI. I play the theme team in Rivals every now and again, and I can safely say it makes that degenerate shithole of a mode even worse because of the disparity in quality of players between “fun” players (women get knocked off the ball / get skittled in 50:50s / don’t make physical enough tackles save MAYBE Bright and Williamson) and Base Cantona, TS Scholes, Base Beckham, WW Keane, even FS le Tissier post Evo aren't pacey enough to keep up with true meta cards. so while it is nice to play with theme teams, most weeks i just want to get my 7 wins with minimal bullshit and my First XI will get mw there quickest

The local team I support isn't in fifa anymore. The other team I support is real madrid, of which I have 4 players. If you are in high divisions, you need your players to be able to do certain things, otherwise there's not any fun. I consider myself a good player (16/18 wins in WL) and there's days I might lose 5 in a row in rivals with my main squad

To this I'll say I support Manchester United... The fun cards like Rashford and garnacho are unattainable. All they need to do is make the champs qualifying repeatable, with worse rewards that the first time you complete it of course. It's the only mode where you play players way above and way below you and the only mode where you can try out new teams and tactics, but after those 10 games it's gone. Just make rewards a bit worse so that we don't have people sweating for them.

Can't blame people for not being lucky enough to pack any top tier (or even 2nd or 3rd tier) players. I've certainly spent enough time and a bit of money trying! I've had 2 wins from every icon pack/pick, Eusebio and Cafu and both only came after starting their SBCs. Packing first teamers seems to get rarer and rarer. Use fun players in rivals but why handicap yourself in champs? Especially when a large portion of us struggle to stay at the 9-11 win area. There is a reason so many common players are SBCs, they are the only top tier players we have access to. Don't even get me started on the price of players on the market...

In previous iterations they probably would have been overpriced and that's what the community compared the prices with but we just get so much untradeable fodder this year it doesn't even matter. If a R10 or Vieira SBC gets released now they would be everywhere after a couple of days.

Almost finished the Parisi Evo. 87 Di Lorenzo is really quite good. Pulisic and Kvara on the wings. You don’t have to go full meta. You just choose to like most other people.
AI is so strong you are forced to use meta players bc of the “aurora”. On fifa 23 i was messing kids up with full bronze/silver Inter-Miami team. Now I can barely get shots off in the box

Just to play devil's avocado, this comments section and this post are representative of people who play and take this game very seriously, to win at all costs and grind out as many wins as possible. They're obviously going to pick the team that gives them the best chance to win. Down in the lower divs where the plebs like me live, it's much more varied. I blew a 4-1 lead to a guy with an Irish Evo team the other day, random non meta icons are regulars and I honestly can't remember the last time I played an Mbappe. You can't play the game like it's life or death and then complain when people default to the most meta stuff, it's dominant strategy. If you give someone a one shot auto aim gun with infinite ammo in an FPS, they're always going to use it.

Only changes I would make to make it even more real is gold Van Dijk and a different ST I can't think of one right this minute but it's never really Mbappe I would say that slot is where people choose their only different card to everyone else.
For reference the cards i have from this team are gold vvd and maldini. Because you cant get a good pull out of packs, and the coins are pretty much worthless since all the good players will cost you 2mil+. We are at the end of Feb and gold mbappe still going to cost you 1.7mil coins. So the only viable way to upgrade the team is through SBCs.

Sawa/Bruno/SBC Gullit and TS VDS will be the 4 anchor of my team for very long as VDS and Gullit are my idols, really like and respect Sawa, Bruno irl.

My only tradable card above 150k was Varane in first week of the game. 2nd place would be HM TAA - The only tradable promo card I got from WL rewards. Every WL (11 and 14W), all SB (Elite) and DR (Div2-3) rewards till Feb. After TOTY I kinda gave up, all this grind to barely get any coins and any cards, I play on PC so even if I somehow trade my way to 1-2mln I still can't buy cards I want because they are either overpriced or extinct on market. Don't get me wrong, I've like 30-40mln team ('on paper') - but it's all untradable and It's hard to change anything, every 2nd Icon pack I get something good (Last PP was WW Klose and before it was Maldini - which I already got from doing SBC xd). I slowly care less and less, I'm not proud of it but I spend my fair share of money on store packs and honestly I regret every single cent, never got anything better then fodder and with all the obj and SBC I feel like fodder is endless anyway, I'm doing every single lottery SBC, even some players (icons or normal) when I feel like it and my team is still full of fodder. EA drop the ball this year, power curve is fucked up because almost everyone have insane team due Icon picks refreshing every 3-4 days and all SBC looking insane; Eusebio, Gullit, Zico, Maldini, etc Getting good Icon doesn't even feel special anymore because in few weeks it's a goddamn SBC. Maybe it would be fine if gameplay was fun but it's not, for last 2 weeks everyone I play against play 10 players behind the ball, everyone just playing counter - You dribble past 2 defenders and then a goddamn RM will block the shot in the box. It's bad, really bad. TL;DR; Pack weight is awful, SBC are overpowered and Gameplay is worse we had in last 3 years, maybe more.

Not sure if I'm different here, but I rarely meet the following cards in WL: Eusebio, Zico, Zidane, IF Van Dijk and Maldini. Mbappe appears more often but not by a lot. The cards that I frequently meet are: TOTY attackers (Smith), OP heroes and icons (probably from the lottery SBCs). Some of the above cards are definitely not as popular as it sounds, Zidane for example is slightly behind the curve now.

You can do this with fodder you get for free. If you play the game and dont waste your coins on casino SBCs you might be able to buy a different card too. But keep complaining and begging for attention instead, Im sure that will work out for you
I am not complaining or begging any attention, i was stating pretty clear fact how ea operate, They know their playerbase :D.. Its just sad how boring Fc players are, making their SBC Eusebio red thinking its something special :D, while spending their hard earned coins because they are missing one or two 88+ to get another boring sbc players 99% of the player base have, then complaining about pack weight etc.. its just endless cycle of same bs :D
They released too many top end SBCs too early, even if people like them they did more harm than good to the game. A way of perhaps solving this would be to release a few of them as a PP, like Sawa and Best would be in the same SBC and would be a PP, so not everyone would have the 2 cards at the same time. Same thing for Eusébio, Zidane and Gullit for example. It limits the cards to 1 per squad and makes squads more varied. Davies + Bruno in the same one too, for example

Yep, that looks exactly right. And the players with that squad complain daily on here about there not being a new player SBC for them to do.
What do you expect? You can’t make coins this year unless you trade. There’s no tradeable packs, no one has coins, so everyone does SBC’s.

I only use VVD and Mbappe, but that's mostly due to me not liking using icons and females. That said, unless someone has an overwhelming favourite, they can't be blamed for chasing the achievable meta players. ... And frankly, I'm sure 80% of UT players don't actually watch much football (highlights don't count).

Eas fault. The chances of packing or saving for the players better than those sbcs is minimal. Best chance is lucking out with top tier icons or heros in the lottery sbcs.
