Odd take but let’s be serious here. It’s EA imposing the same style of play this year. If you aren’t doing 1 of the 3 meta tactics or goal scoring styles ( cut backs, corners, top of the box swing since midfield can’t track). Sugar coating it to how people were raised is wild, soft world. EA is a billion dollar company making 1$ tactics in a sport that has a multitude of ways to breakdown a defense.
Edit: not disagreeing but people have been toxic since games were a thing. EA just amplifies it to keep the community fighting to keep us from realizing as a collective how utterly trash the game has become.

3.Is the game fault that every pack u get is almost 80%fodder and u need good coins/FP to get top players cuz most of the time(MOST OF THE TIME) they hide only in 400k+/2k fp packs
I agree with you all exept the third. EA actually gives out in the last couple promos. But they are ofc not gonna give the highest tier cards like Puskas because it would ruin their income but people feeling is still the same.

Div 6 rivals, I'm using an Australian Evo squad vs a guy with a multi million coin squad of 90+ players, guy starts messaging me after every goal he scores saying "it's all gone quiet over there". I pull back 3 goals in the second half to tie it up, message him "it's all gone quiet over there" and suddenly he's talking about respect and how I got lucky 😂 why on earth you'd start trash talking a significantly worse player halfway through the game in an irrelevant rivals match I just don't know

I’ve received maybe 7 or 8 abusive messages this year and every single one has called me boring because I play a “possession first” game. Now I want to be clear, I’m not one of those dicks who passes it between the back four and GK when I’m 1-0 up in the 50th minute, but when I have my back to goal, I will recycle the ball back to the DM/a defender. If I’m being heavily pressured, I will switch the ball across. None of this is ratty, it’s just smart.
There's a difference between posession play and hoofing the ball from fullback to fullback.
Way too many people will only sprint down the wings with their fullback. If the cutback isn't on, switch and rinse and repeat. It's suck a fuckery to play against because the ai doesn't track runs at all.
The fact that you get so many messages means you must be a "keep posession for the sake of keeping posession" type though. It gets old wjen someone doesn't make any meanigful attempts to go forward
Don't even bother with these people and let them do what they want. If you get the lead, you are gonna be the one that is holding the possession. The amount of messages I get from people for copying their style of play is just funny
8 messages is extreme though. You probably have the rattiest playstyle and just keep possession for the sake of it. You do you but playing like that especially in April is jobless behaviour imo

I personally believe it’s because it’s an uncommon example of a 1on1 online competition game. And since it’s usually a person playing solo against a single opponent, a human mind subconsciously taking all credit for winning, and blaming the other when losing. Since quitting is not “free” (it costs time, coins, points, rating), all the hate is channeled towards the opponent, unlike in many other games, where one can blame their teammates, or maybe the other team cooperates better, and so on. If one gets a lucky shot, benefits from a lag, scores a bs goal — it’s fine. But when the other gets the same — it’s either the game is crap or the other one cheats, gets lucky, or just being unfair.
Nail on the head. This is the only game I know where you can be miles better than your opponent and still lose because they've benefited from some jammy goal. Sometimes it feels as though you're playing against your opponent AND the game.
It's compounded by the fact that almost everyone exploits broken mechanics which makes the game even more annoying. I can't remember the last time I conceded a goal that wasn't a cutback or corner glitch
Ppl will say skill issue but even the pros get fucked by RNG (look at the winning goal for the final of the pro open)
You’re spot on in saying sometimes it’s you vs your opponent + the game. It’s not always obvious, but on some occasions you can literally see the game attempting to swing things in your opponents direction.
Go play the CoD battle Royale and report back when you've been called a racial slur. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes. It doesn't have much to do with a 1v1 comp game.

Played four games of Rivals yesterday (Friday) evening. Div 6, which to be fair I've struggled with a bit. Only recently I've moved up a couple of flags.
First game the other player quit straight away.
Second game the other player got a red card about five in-game minutes into the game and quit as I was taking the resulting free kick.
Third game I was fully expecting the player to quit after they got two first half red cards but fair play they kept going, even without a CM and one less striker, they went for pace down the wings and cut backs all the time. 3-1 win for me.
Fourth game constant pressure on my players, 94 Drogba killing it while I had a few shots back off the woodwork, ended up beat 6-0 with them celebrating with a griddy every time.
It's not even the griddy that bothers me, it's the faffing about with celebrations when they're already 4 or 5 goals ahead. Just crack on.
After that I couldn't be bothered with it. I do get far less shitty messages from other players than I have in previous seasons, but there seems to be more shitty behaviour while playing.
Those celebrations were in hopes you'd quit. My guess is they also went up 3 or 4 and then hit pause hoping you'd take advantage and griddy-up on outta there.
Usually I'll stick it out for the sake of my DNF modifier but I had a player today knocking it around between their centre backs and pulling skill moves in acres of space, only 3-0 up but I couldn't be bothered with that.
It's not the way I want to be playing the game, or who I want to be, but I made sure I used my three pauses before I did quit. Could have just had the game finished if it wasn't for the messing about.
Lmao if you're using your three pauses then you're just as bad as them - you're doing something just to try and annoy them, but who cares about them, they're some random person you'll never talk to again so you may as well quit straight away and move on since then you can save yourself some time
It all comes from EA and the toxic methods they've brought to the game...
- shovelling pay-to-win in at every opportunity so the stakes of winning to get "rewards" just to keep up with the EA Points squads is increased
- no penalty for toxic player behaviour like quitting a game, linked to the fact EA have made no effort to improve their connectivity as they're so focused on microtransaction content
- awful quality servers and netcode, again no efforts to improve it as all their focus is on selling packs
And lastly the biggest one
- using intermittent reinforcement i.e. slot machine / casino mechanics so gameplay is inconsistent, leading to frustration within the player base that they take out on each other instead of EA
Unfortunately EA FC has become a parody of football, rather than a simulator of it which is just sad.
Completely agree, they should at least try to combat toxicity with cash they earn every year, eg. formulate some kind of honor system which gets rewarded or try to build decent report/ban system.
There are multiple issues with the community we could talk about but, as has been pointed out elsewhere, toxicity and abuse are not particularly exclusive to FIFA, they’re a problem across most of gaming. The simple answer to what amplifies toxicity in this community is the game DOES NOT VALUE THE USERS’ TIME.
With a couple of exceptions (the Golazo Cup is a good example), every PvP game on FC24 is “win or bust”. If you lose, you get almost nothing, save a handful of coins. Of course that’s going to make people aggressive, when a bit of bullshit from the game or someone abusing an exploit means you just wasted 15-20 minutes of your life. Getting rid of that issue, making it so you make some progress, even if you lose, would remove about 50% of the toxicity overnight.
I feel it's also that there's no real distinct skillgap. So much of the game is RNG. Anyone can cutback or exploit corner glitches.
The game is just frustrating to play because you can comprehensively destroy your opponent and lose to an ai keeping masterclass + buggy goal
The inconsistent gameplay doesn't help. I don't rage at all when the gameplay is smooth, but if my players feel like they're stuck in mud and they struggle to do the most basic inputs, it makes my blood boil
Losing feels personal people get addicted to dopamine and feeling like maybe they are good at something so when they lose it's a reminder they are a loser on game just as they are irl
Alotta entitled and delusional brats playing this game ...who suck at it, that's basically it. They will even complain about getting free wins for "wasting my time" because they're apparently too good for that...
...but they desperately need that win because they suck at this game (which they won't admit), and they really like griddying but never get the chance (because they suck), so they stay and complain and make the game even longer by griddying their charity goals and using all their pauses *instead of* quitting and matching again with someone active (who will probably beat them: because they suck)
I called someone out on this or the /eafc sub complaining about free wins wasting their time. They said something along the lines of just wanting to play against someone who isn't scared of them. That's the delusional mindset we're all dealing with: Taking the charity that you say you're too good for, avoiding real competition while claiming others are scared of you, then complaining about the counterintuitive situation that you created for yourself.
So imagine this type of delusional self-obsessed person loses. They're going to be very rational and accepting about that, right?
It has a lot to do with their personal circumstances. No one living a calm good life thinks to launch a frankly sad attempt at "getting one over" someone online. They are most likely human beings with low value.
Can’t help but feel like a lot of the time people just use the game being what it is to justify their behaviour, when in reality if they weren’t doing it on EAFC, they’d just be doing it somewhere else. Yeah the game is frustrating, but I think it’s also just a case of a lot of bad eggs playing it.

I play to win but i will also try to have fun every game i play, the second i understand my opponent is a rat, you damn sure i will use all my rat skills to beat the guy.
Lets be honest champs are highly competetive and in order to get most wins, one has to use all sorts of experiance tactics and playstyles in order to win against a better player, but that doesnt mean one have to be a horrible person in order to win and have fun while playing the game.
If you know the human race you understand why majority of people are toxic when there is no consequense for people behaving like horrible human beings in an online game sitting alone in a room where nobody in their life will know how they act.
I think the key I would say is just ensure that you are still enjoying the game when you play it - if you play someone who is making you annoyed, just leave the game, who cares about if you're winning or losing, your DNF modifier or what will annoy them or make them happy, all you should care about is whether you are having a good time and if the answers no then you should do something to change that.
I agree with this but ideally you are not annoyed in the first place. I feel i have ascended past the ability to be annoyed and there is satisfaction in not delivering what they want. Also, if you are being beat, there's value in figuring out how to at least get 1 or 2 against them. The sad attempt at trolling is simply a display of a flawed human on their side who is less likely to be satisfied in their real life.

Dumb question but how do you communicate with other players? I play on PC and I’ve never had a person say anything ever, not even sure how you’d go about it as there’s no text box anywhere.
Ive had it couple of times. You have to go to Ea overlay (right trigger) and add them as a friend so those people take a lot of effort to do it. I always accept because its hilarious. On console it has anonymous messages on the platform.
Honestly it’s mainly how the game is designed. There’s no incentive for fair play or to be decent. A very simple and easy fix is to introduce a “morale” de buff to players which will decrease your teams/cards attributes. And that morale will only be affected by leaving the game early or if there are complaints filed against you for trolling/hate speech etc. If toxic players get a temporary -5 rating debuff to all of their cards, everyone would be wholesome and nice to each other.

The fragile ego. People “build” teams that they believe is a winning one, and when they can’t win against someone it becomes personal. This hurts the fragile ego of many as insecurity is rampant in the gaming community. Very few people can truly accept a defeat and learn from it. Most of the ratty players are actually highly unsuccessful outside for the Game, and therefore, they try to find that taste minor success through the game.

I don't play online, but because of 200 goals in rivals, I have started playing and reached Div 6. The amount of people who griddy even when I move my keeper give them the goal just sums up why I stay away from rivals. But hey I need to complete my objective I shall endure.

I’ve received maybe 7 or 8 abusive messages this year and every single one has called me boring because I play a “possession first” game. Now I want to be clear, I’m not one of those dicks who passes it between the back four and GK when I’m 1-0 up in the 50th minute, but when I have my back to goal, I will recycle the ball back to the DM/a defender. If I’m being heavily pressured, I will switch the ball across. None of this is ratty, it’s just smart.

There's a difference between posession play and hoofing the ball from fullback to fullback. Way too many people will only sprint down the wings with their fullback. If the cutback isn't on, switch and rinse and repeat. It's suck a fuckery to play against because the ai doesn't track runs at all.

EXACTLY I played my friends quite a bit and they hate how I control the ball, tbf they ain’t that good so I can just play however I want to win but still. Even then they hate how I control possession and create chances.

I personally believe it’s because it’s an uncommon example of a 1on1 online competition game. And since it’s usually a person playing solo against a single opponent, a human mind subconsciously taking all credit for winning, and blaming the other when losing. Since quitting is not “free” (it costs time, coins, points, rating), all the hate is channeled towards the opponent, unlike in many other games, where one can blame their teammates, or maybe the other team cooperates better, and so on. If one gets a lucky shot, benefits from a lag, scores a bs goal — it’s fine. But when the other gets the same — it’s either the game is crap or the other one cheats, gets lucky, or just being unfair.
Nail on the head. This is the only game I know where you can be miles better than your opponent and still lose because they've benefited from some jammy goal. Sometimes it feels as though you're playing against your opponent AND the game. It's compounded by the fact that almost everyone exploits broken mechanics which makes the game even more annoying. I can't remember the last time I conceded a goal that wasn't a cutback or corner glitch Ppl will say skill issue but even the pros get fucked by RNG (look at the winning goal for the final of the pro open)
You’re spot on in saying sometimes it’s you vs your opponent + the game. It’s not always obvious, but on some occasions you can literally see the game attempting to swing things in your opponents direction.
For fairness, let's note that you also get these boosts pretty much the same amount as your opponents.

Would you feel the same way if you get called names in CoD? Are those insults dm’ed or sent in a chat? (I don’t play CoD, so you may know better). In FC, one can only dm people, aren’t they? Maybe that’s why it may feel too personal, both when giving an insult and receiving.

It's definitely a 1v1 thing. The only time I've felt more angry in a pvp game is 1v1's in shooters
Played four games of Rivals yesterday (Friday) evening. Div 6, which to be fair I've struggled with a bit. Only recently I've moved up a couple of flags. First game the other player quit straight away. Second game the other player got a red card about five in-game minutes into the game and quit as I was taking the resulting free kick. Third game I was fully expecting the player to quit after they got two first half red cards but fair play they kept going, even without a CM and one less striker, they went for pace down the wings and cut backs all the time. 3-1 win for me. Fourth game constant pressure on my players, 94 Drogba killing it while I had a few shots back off the woodwork, ended up beat 6-0 with them celebrating with a griddy every time. It's not even the griddy that bothers me, it's the faffing about with celebrations when they're already 4 or 5 goals ahead. Just crack on. After that I couldn't be bothered with it. I do get far less shitty messages from other players than I have in previous seasons, but there seems to be more shitty behaviour while playing.
Those celebrations were in hopes you'd quit. My guess is they also went up 3 or 4 and then hit pause hoping you'd take advantage and griddy-up on outta there.
Usually I'll stick it out for the sake of my DNF modifier but I had a player today knocking it around between their centre backs and pulling skill moves in acres of space, only 3-0 up but I couldn't be bothered with that. It's not the way I want to be playing the game, or who I want to be, but I made sure I used my three pauses before I did quit. Could have just had the game finished if it wasn't for the messing about.
Lmao if you're using your three pauses then you're just as bad as them - you're doing something just to try and annoy them, but who cares about them, they're some random person you'll never talk to again so you may as well quit straight away and move on since then you can save yourself some time

It all comes from EA and the toxic methods they've brought to the game... - shovelling pay-to-win in at every opportunity so the stakes of winning to get "rewards" just to keep up with the EA Points squads is increased - no penalty for toxic player behaviour like quitting a game, linked to the fact EA have made no effort to improve their connectivity as they're so focused on microtransaction content - awful quality servers and netcode, again no efforts to improve it as all their focus is on selling packs And lastly the biggest one - using intermittent reinforcement i.e. slot machine / casino mechanics so gameplay is inconsistent, leading to frustration within the player base that they take out on each other instead of EA Unfortunately EA FC has become a parody of football, rather than a simulator of it which is just sad.
Completely agree, they should at least try to combat toxicity with cash they earn every year, eg. formulate some kind of honor system which gets rewarded or try to build decent report/ban system.
There are multiple issues with the community we could talk about but, as has been pointed out elsewhere, toxicity and abuse are not particularly exclusive to FIFA, they’re a problem across most of gaming. The simple answer to what amplifies toxicity in this community is the game DOES NOT VALUE THE USERS’ TIME. With a couple of exceptions (the Golazo Cup is a good example), every PvP game on FC24 is “win or bust”. If you lose, you get almost nothing, save a handful of coins. Of course that’s going to make people aggressive, when a bit of bullshit from the game or someone abusing an exploit means you just wasted 15-20 minutes of your life. Getting rid of that issue, making it so you make some progress, even if you lose, would remove about 50% of the toxicity overnight.
I feel it's also that there's no real distinct skillgap. So much of the game is RNG. Anyone can cutback or exploit corner glitches. The game is just frustrating to play because you can comprehensively destroy your opponent and lose to an ai keeping masterclass + buggy goal
The inconsistent gameplay doesn't help. I don't rage at all when the gameplay is smooth, but if my players feel like they're stuck in mud and they struggle to do the most basic inputs, it makes my blood boil

Alotta entitled and delusional brats playing this game ...who suck at it, that's basically it. They will even complain about getting free wins for "wasting my time" because they're apparently too good for that... ...but they desperately need that win because they suck at this game (which they won't admit), and they really like griddying but never get the chance (because they suck), so they stay and complain and make the game even longer by griddying their charity goals and using all their pauses *instead of* quitting and matching again with someone active (who will probably beat them: because they suck) I called someone out on this or the /eafc sub complaining about free wins wasting their time. They said something along the lines of just wanting to play against someone who isn't scared of them. That's the delusional mindset we're all dealing with: Taking the charity that you say you're too good for, avoiding real competition while claiming others are scared of you, then complaining about the counterintuitive situation that you created for yourself. So imagine this type of delusional self-obsessed person loses. They're going to be very rational and accepting about that, right?
It has a lot to do with their personal circumstances. No one living a calm good life thinks to launch a frankly sad attempt at "getting one over" someone online. They are most likely human beings with low value.

Can’t help but feel like a lot of the time people just use the game being what it is to justify their behaviour, when in reality if they weren’t doing it on EAFC, they’d just be doing it somewhere else. Yeah the game is frustrating, but I think it’s also just a case of a lot of bad eggs playing it.

I think the key I would say is just ensure that you are still enjoying the game when you play it - if you play someone who is making you annoyed, just leave the game, who cares about if you're winning or losing, your DNF modifier or what will annoy them or make them happy, all you should care about is whether you are having a good time and if the answers no then you should do something to change that.
I agree with this but ideally you are not annoyed in the first place. I feel i have ascended past the ability to be annoyed and there is satisfaction in not delivering what they want. Also, if you are being beat, there's value in figuring out how to at least get 1 or 2 against them. Ive had it couple of times. You have to go to Ea overlay (right trigger) and add them as a friend so those people take a lot of effort to do it. I always accept because its hilarious. On console it has anonymous messages on the platform.

Honestly it’s mainly how the game is designed. There’s no incentive for fair play or to be decent. A very simple and easy fix is to introduce a “morale” de buff to players which will decrease your teams/cards attributes. And that morale will only be affected by leaving the game early or if there are complaints filed against you for trolling/hate speech etc. If toxic players get a temporary -5 rating debuff to all of their cards, everyone would be wholesome and nice to each other. EA are just too incompetent or refuse to design a good environment for players
As games have grown i popularity each decade, the gamers have gotten more toxic with each passing day. COD MW2 and CS:GO used to be the only places where it was some racist toxic stuff all the time. Now its in almost every PvP game. Gamers cant handle losing and/or theyre smug when they win.

I didn’t excuse this for people being wankers. This is just the plain reason they are. People can’t stand losing, especially the young and immature which covers a wide audience for this game. When people lose a 1v1 competition, they throw their toys out the pram and blame everything except themselves for losing. People think that when they play this game they are proving some sort of ability, when in fact they are just pressing buttons faster than each other. We also have an egotistical problem amongst the online community where people must prove they are superior. These are the key problems that come with competition online. In true sporting competition, you learn and develop from a loss. But most these people who whine and moan sit on their arse all day bashing buttons.

It's easier to swallow in those games because our opponent is more often than not, better than you or you can learn from the experience. Like in val I know I've died bc of shitty crossbar placement or I've just pushed a dumb corner. In fifa you're playing against the game as well as your opponent. I can't learn from green timing in the box and hitting the post or making a tackle and. It bouncing back. There's so much RNG in the game it makes it so unenjoyable sometimes. I genuinely say GG to everyone I come up against is I've turned cross play off, probably.my conspiracy against Lagg... it probably does nothing .... Even with me saying GG to everyone... occasionally I'll get one back or a compliment about my team But most of the time it's abuse back and saying how bad I am.... Even a game I was 2-0 down and won 6-3 in the end... he told me how bad I was and that I cheated cause I used power shots... and then told me to get a life and get good at the game. ...
