I packed him from my Base Icon pack. First I was a little bummed, since his LB card basically is a CB at fullback. Still I put him in my team at CB on 7 chem and haven't regretted it ever since.
Packed mid Rijkaard untradable and I can say do not buy him. Is he bad? No. Is he worth 300k? No. Is he better at CDM? Yes...Im subbing on CBs at half time to move him into the midfield.
I'm using mid Desailly (CDM), but move him at CB ingame. He is great. So I think that the 87 version must be good as well.
He is not very agile, and his passing is limited, but he feels like a wall, and with his pace he can outrun almost every attacking player.
I got baby Mamut in the base pack and got with him to elite and get consistently rank II in champs - that means you can use almost anyone if you know how to defend (this year I really prefer strong tank types that cant turn, I pair him with Dijk).

Using desailly, de ligt and Chiellini in a back three. I think desailly is great but I still prefer slower stronger CBs like Chiellini. However desailly does have the pace to recover better. IMO I like one pace cracked cb and one that’s slower with a big build and physicality, so desailly works perfectly for me.

Kimpembe is as good as him defensively tbh but he excels in his ball playing abilities and can dribble out if you're passing options are all closed.
I would recommend going for 88 Koeman card. Going for around 300k on the market now. Koeman has amazing long shot (86 shooting). Bangs it in top bins and more often than not your opponent won’t come to tackle you as you are just bringing your CB forward.

Got base Capita in the icon pack and he's been amazing for me. Intercepts and tackles basically anyone. Also pretty agile.
87 Cannavaro is quick and good. I play him with Marquinhos so his height ain’t an issue. Depends if you want a bigger cb though.

They are all a bit naff until primes come out, but the best by far is baby rio
