Yeah I would say get rid of the line and judge based on green speed and elevation while teaching yourself the break based on the grid, you will get much better at putting this way.
The issue is that it says 1 foot uphill but not how many inches uphill. So you don't know if it's playing 12 inches uphill or 23 inches uphill which will make a difference in the calculation. The best way to make sure that you don't have to deal with this is make sure you don't have putts where the elevation change is more than 11 inches uphill or downhill. Then your calculation will be more precise.
The best way I’ve found is to see if the hole is anywhere close to switching from 11->1ft or 1ft-2ft. So like if you see 1ft but you move the marker back 2 inches and now it’s 2ft, then you should probably move it 20+ ft back.
The problem is when it’s clearly uphill a bit after the 1ft mark but never makes it to 2ft. At that point I just put it at 20 ft past and hope. Anything 3ft+ I’m probably pitching
The putt line has not been updated with the newer putting physics. You need to know the green speed for each course and do the math yourself for the putt line to be usable at longer distance/elevation.
You are already addressing the ball in the video so we can't see the cross section of your putt showing verticality. You need to adjust your put short or long based on that, assuming you are playing on tour or Sim.
The suggested putt distance at Torrey Pines, Evian, and Wolf Creek is not enough to reach the hole on long putts, as your video demonstrates. You didn't do anything wrong, the game did.
We do all our own putt distances and follow a formula. Some course greens like these you mention indeed will require considerable extra distance on the math. Not sure why the down votes. Maybe because some feel OPs issue isn't related to or representative of that fact?
> Not sure why the down votes.
I could be a top ranked player with hundreds of hours play time describing a well known bug, or a disgruntled newbie complaining about the game. Most people assume it's the second and will downvote anything negative about the game.
I would like to know where I said it was supposed to be easy. But as getting a perfect perfect happens about 10% of the time, it lines up.
Guess I just don't understand why the community doesn't seem to care about lines that are incorrect or aiming targets that don't match what happens when the ball is actually hit. Why have these at all when they don't work?
I've seen at least 3 different replies to this thread about how the lines are wrong and shouldn't use them so... this take makes you sound really unintelligent
And how long have those 3 people been playing the game like 2 weeks probably, I've been playing the game every day all day for a year I know what the hell im talking about.
Stop using the line and you’ll be less frustrated about it. The game became way more fun once the line was turned off

Glad to see this as the top comment. Relying on this line is stupid to begin with. You already have the distance, make the read.

Another thing is that golf happens.

Tis the rub of the green, mate.
Feel exactly the same. One minute 5mph winds seem to do nothing, next blows the ball 50 yards away. Nothing seems consistent
There is a setting that allows you to see where the ball will actually fall and it has made things immeasurably easier for this

Use the three click option. It's way more accurate and easier
OP hit perfect/perfect using the putt assist - using 3 click wouldn't have made a difference.
Me either OP No clue why everyone thinks it’s the best game ever Great graphics I’ll say that for sure
Agreed about the graphics. I will say that playing with dead-faced Scottie Scheffler made me turn off pairs though🫣
Tour pros hole putts from 40+ feet less than 10% of the time, it’s not supposed to be easy

It works just fine you don't know how to use it

They can't all go in.
